Hello everyone and welcome to my DxDDP dining report. First, a little bit about your guide on this culinary tour through the most magical place on earth and the rest of the cast of characters. Let me start by saying I am soooooooooooo not a message board person, that is except for the DIS. I have enjoyed all of your reviews and have gotten so much valuable information here that I decided to return the favor. This is my first attempt at writing a dining report, so please be gentle.

I am 35 years old and the proud father of two beautiful twin girls. I am a pretty adventurous eater and I love to try new foods. I enjoy appetizers and also love a good breakfast.

DW (36) aka LJCrochet is a chocoholic, pure and simple. If it were up to her, she'd skip straight to desert (after some bread and butter, of course). Though not an adventurous eater, she has become much more daring over the years.

DD1 (4) who we'll call Ariel takes after her Mommy when it comes to food. She could live on bread and chocolate.

DD2 (4) referred to herein as Aurora has become quite a carnivore and has a new found appreciation for ribs. She's looking forward to Whispering Canyon and Hoop de Doo Review.

Grandma (my Mom) will be joining us on this trip, let's call her Mrs. Potts. She's been weight watchers for a while now and has been doing quite well. She is a bit apprehensive about the DxDDP and is most looking forward to the healthy choices that Disney has to offer. Today's sustainable fish perhaps?

So, watch your head and step, and take small children by the hand as you prepare to have your senses stimulated by our taste of the cuisine of WDW with lots of pictures (hopefully). Our bags are packed (almost) and we'll soon be off to the World.

As I previously mentioned, I love a good breakfast and appetizers and DW loves desert. This is a recipe for a lot of TS meals and the DDP, just won't do. We have TIW and we were not planning on doing any of the dining plans, but after mapping out our ADRs, and crunching the numbers, we decided to add the DxDDP, as it will be cheaper and much more convenient than just relying on TIW. Before, I get flamed, I know it's not exactly apples to apples, as we'd probably not order apps and deserts for each person if we were paying OOP, but we know we'll have fun with the DxDDP.

DW and I are DVC members and we consider ourselves to be Disney veterans, but after looking over the list of Disney restaurants, I discovered that there were more than 50 places we haven't tried yet:eek: So our goal for this trip (and next) is to try as many new places as possible while hitting a few of our faves.

It is with deepest pride and greatest pleasure that we welcome you tonight.
And now we invite you to relax, let us pull up a chair as the dining room proudly presents - your dinner (I mean our ADRs):

Day 1:
Sanaa - Lunch (new to us)
Whispering Canyon - Dinner (old fave)

Day 2:
Boma - Breakfast (new to us for breakfast)
Jiko - Dinner (new to us)

Day 3:
Norway - Breakfast (old fave)
Biergarten - Dinner (new to us)

Day 4:
Cape May Cafe - Breakfast (new to us)
Sci Fi - Lunch (new to us)
Tutto Italia - Dinner (new to us)

Day 5:
Crystal Palace - Breakfast (old fave)
Tusker House / Nemo Show - Lunch (new to us for lunch)
Narcoosee's - Dinner (new to us)

Day 6:
CRT - Breakfast (old fave)
Le Cellier - Dinner (new to us)

Day 7:
'Ohana - Breakfast (old fave)
Hoop de Doo - Dinner (new to us)

Day 8:
Kona Cafe - Breakfast (new to us)
Chefs de France - Lunch (new to us)
'Ohana - Dinenr (old fave)

Day 9:
Chef Mickey's - Breakfast (last day tradition)

Hungry yet? When are we going to have time to use our snack credits?

That sounds like a whole lot of eating. popcorn:: I can't wait to hear how it goes. Will you be updated while at Disney, or will we have to wait until you get home? Did you remember to pack the pants with elastic waist so you have something to wear home by day 9? :lmao: You guys will have to come home and do a whole bunch of :yay: (looks like jumping jacks to me), to get back in shape for round number 2 in October.

My goodness that's a lot of snacks! I can't even use the 1 a day per person we get on normal dining without stocking up at the resort store on the way home. I can't honestly say I know of any yummy snacks since they don't seem to cater to low carb lifestyle at the snack areas.

And we’re off. We are lucky enough to live close to MacArthur Airport in Islip, NY. It’s my all time favorite airport. :thumbsup2 The people are so nice you can forget you’re in New York. :rotfl2: You get through security so fast you might miss it. In fact, this morning there was no line at all. We usually like a small line, so we have time to fold the stroller, take off shoes, remove laptops, stow stuffed animals, etc. But I digress; we’re here to talk about food. Since we got up early for our flight, we didn’t eat at home. The girls opted to chow down at the airport food court. Aurora wanted French toast and Ariel wanted scrambled eggs. I knew they both wanted bacon, so I ordered the French toast platter (French toast, bacon and potatoes) $6.49 and scrambled eggs $4.99. I also ordered an orange juice for the girls to share – either they forgot to charge me or it came with the pltter. Total with tax $12.47. This is ridiculous, I need to get to WDW and start using my credits. :rotfl:

Here are the pics:

French toast platter

http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060286.jpg
Scrambled Eggs

They both seemed to enjoy their platters. Like any good food reviewer would, I tasted everything. The eggs were palatable and the potatoes weren’t bad, but the French toast was pretty gross. If it wasn’t for her love of maple syrup, it would have gone straight to the trash. Aurora gave it 4 stars (I guess she was hungry or she just loves syrup).

http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060293.jpg

DW and I opted to drink our breakfast (no not that kind of liquid breakfast) – we hit up Starbucks. DW got a grande frozen java chip frappucino – no whipped cream to save a few calories.

http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060287.jpg

Mrs. Potts (little miss weight watchers) brought here own breakfast – a piece of 50% cheddar cheese and a vita-muffin top. Sorry, no pics of that. She did join us for coffee.

Looking forward to lunch at Sanaa.

After an uneventful flight that landed early but got to the gate late :confused3, we began our long journey via Magical Express to Kidani Village with stops at POP, CBR and CS. We arrived just in time to check in at AKV and grab lunch at Sanaa while they cleaned our room. Our ADR was for 2:50, we arrived at Sanaa at 2:55 and we were seated by 3:00.

The room and decor is beautiful. Here are a few pics:

http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/CopyofP1060302.jpg

http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060305.jpg

We were seated at a 6 top by the window. It was fantastic, we had views of all of the animals and the girls had a blast.

http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060303-1.jpg

http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060304.jpg

We actually got to watch the Giraffes eat their lunch as we dined, as CMs brought out fresh leaves and hung them from a tree.

Our server was Ken from Orlando, FL. He was quite attentive and knew the menu very well. The place was quite empty, so it was good that he was so attentive.

As you know we are on the DxDDP so we started with apps.

Mrs. Potts started with the roasted cauliflower with tomato sauce.
Before:
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060306.jpg
After:
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060313.jpg

DW and I shared the Indian Style Bread Service - this counts as 2 apps:
We had the Naan, Roti and Paneer Paratha with Cucumber Raita, Mango Chutntey and Roasted Red Bell Pepper Hummus. These were Ken's recomendations

http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060309.jpg
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060310.jpg

We did pretty well on these as well :lmao:
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060311.jpg

Overall I felt that the apps were the strongest course these were simply delicious. The standout was the Paneer Paratha bread - outstanding. The Mrs. Potts loved the cauliflower. I tasted it too and thought it was pretty good as well - kinda fried but not greasy at all.

Here is Ariel's appetizer - its carrots and celery with dip - she scooped them all up and bit them at once as I tried to take a picture. http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060307.jpg

I'll say this once and get it over with. The kids' meals at WDW are terrible and are poorly constructed. I think they are far too dumbed down and are boring and there is little or no variation from place to place. But the worst part is 1/2 of them come with app/entree/desert all on one plate and the other 1/2 comes in courses. This leads to strange service for the kids. Aurora ordered the fish, which came all on one place so no app for her.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060315.jpg

Moving along to entrees:
DW and I ordered the Slow Cooked in Gravy, Simple and Well Seasoned, she had the Chicken with Red Curry Sauce, Shrimp with Green Curry Sauce and the Basmati Rice.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060319.jpg
So naturally, I had the other choices: Beef Short Ribs and Paneer Cheese and Spinach with Five Grain Pilaf.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060318.jpg
I thought the standout among these dishes was the shrimp and DW thought it was the chicken. Either way the curry sauces were the way to go, they were both outstanding. The beef and the paneer were average. The pilaf and the rice were below average, so we left these over.

Mrs. Potts had today's sustainable fish. It was a halibut in a light broth. She raved about this dish.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060317.jpg

Ariel ordered the cheeseburger, which was quite tasty.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060320.jpg

On to dessert, which was the weakest by far. The one standout was DW's Chai Cream. This was great and I recommend you have this desert.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060327.jpg
Other desserts included:
The dessert sampler - No sugar added Mango Pudding, Cardamom-Butter Cake and Egg-less chocolate cake.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060326.jpg
They may want to add egg to the chocolate cake and sugar to the mango pudding and lose the Cardamom cake altogether.
They could also add some sugar to the Vanilla-Coconut Rice pudding
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060328.jpg
Ariel did enjoy her ice cream
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060325.jpg.

I can't forget DW's Loose Leaf Tea - she was soooo excited about this and it did not dissappoint.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060321.jpg
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060322.jpg
So for each review, our 3 adult diners will score each restaurant on a scale of 1-5 stars for a possible perfect score of 15 stars.

I gave Sanaa a 3.5 out of 5 - based mostly on poor desserts
DW gave Sanaa 4.5 out of 5
Mrs. Potts gave Sanaa 5 out of 5
Total score 13 out of 15

FYI our bill before gratuity for 3 adults and 2 children was $130.11

So after a quick-ish jaunt through Adventureland, Frontierland and parts west where we ran into this cowpoke
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060338.jpg

This got us thoroughly in the mood for Whispering Canyon Café. For those of you who are not familiar with WCC, it’s a loud, kind of raucous, cowboy themed joint, known for its silly antics and bottomless milkshakes and skillets. Honestly, this was DW’s choice, as I could have skipped it for this trip.

So we boarded the boat from Magic Kingdom for what proved to be a very pleasant trip to the Wilderness Lodge, the site of WCC. We sat out in the front of the boat, where a very helpful and pleasant CM explained to DDs all of the different lights and sounds that the boats use to navigate and keep from colliding into each other. We even had a bit of an awkward moment, as we passed under the monorail as one was going clockwise and another moved counter-clockwise, Ariel shouted out, “Oh no, the monorails are gonna crash into each other!” The CM, said not usually, that only happens late at night, when we’re closing up. Anyway, on to WCC.

Our ADR was for 8:30, we arrived at 8:23 and we were seated very promptly at 8:30 by Charles, an older gentleman, who called himself “Grampa”, who’s been working at WCC since as long as we’ve been going there. DDs passed the 7 minutes wait time with Lincoln Logs
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060344.jpg

Our server’s name was Dave, but he called himself the Medicine Man, he was very much in character, but not too obnoxious, and very efficient, making sure we always had what we needed.

Cornbread
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060352.jpg

Here are our appetizers
Western Chips and Dip – steer clear of this one. The chips tasted stale and the queso dip was pretty mediocre. DW and I are big chile con queso fans and this just did not stack up.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060354.jpg
Barbeque Pork Spring Rolls – the stand out appy. This was delicious, if not a bit greasy. It’s a pair of spring rolls stuffed with barbeque pulled pork and cheddar, served with a barbeque-mayonnaise dipping sauce. mmmmm

Here’s the salad that comes with the Skillet
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060359.jpg

On to the main courses.
Being at WCC, I had to sample the skillet.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060368.jpg
Some of you may notice the absence of chicken and coleslaw. DW pointed this out and the Medicine Man delivered the goods.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060370.jpg
Since we were on DxDDP, I opted not to get any refills on the skillet, though DW and DDs did get milkshake refills.
The standout on the skillet is the chicken, the rest is average bbq fare.

DW’s Chicken Vegetable Penne Pasta
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060369.jpg
She said the pasta was very good, but the chicken was “yucky”.

Mrs. Potts had the Grilled Rib-Eye Steak. I guess it was camera shy.

Ariel had the chicken skillet and Aurora had the ribs skillet.

http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060366.jpg

DDs had a great time here. Now that they’re 4, they willingly participated in some of the antics like fetching ketchup and horseracing and had a ball.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060361.jpg
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060362.jpg

After dinner, we were completely zonked, especially, Aurora. We took our desserts to go.
Deep-Dish Bourbon Pecan Pie - with Chocolate Sauce http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060371.jpg
Kahlúa-flavored Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Mousse Filling and Fudge Icing
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060372.jpg
Apple-Caramel Pie - Fresh Granny Smith Apples, Sugar Cookie Crust, Streusel Topping, and Caramel Drizzle and Kid’s cookies
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060373.jpg

We picked up our refillable mugs when we got back to the AKV and sampled these deserts, along with some “coffee”.

The deserts were very sweet, but nothing special. If you go to the WCC, go for the silliness and the fun, not necessarily the food. We each gave it 3 stars for a final score of 9/15.
Our bill would have been $175.88 at WCC if not for the DxDDP.
FYI the 5 mugs would have cost $69.18

Okay, bright and early for our ADR at Boma, then off to AK. We walked over to Jambo House this morning, we are staying in the wing that's closer to Jambo than the Kidani lobby, so we walked to the end of the hall and down the stairs to a non-descript exit. Through the door wee burst into a sort of twilight zone that was full of CMs smoking cigarettes and there were no guests. It apparently empties into a large service area. The door did not say emergency only or authorized personnel only. :confused3 We quickly got our bearings and walked to Jambo House and arrived at Boma at 7:50 for our 7:45 ADR, the made us wait 5 minutes and seated us in the nearly empty Boma. Our server was Laura from Lakeland, FL. She was fine, cleared dishes, brought drinks, just what you'd need at Boma.

In my opinion, Boma is the best breakfast at WDW - foodwise, hand's down. I thought they had something for everyone, but apparently I was wrong. :confused3
I am an adventurous eater, I love to try new things and I don't mind a bit of spice in the morning. Maybe that's the profile of a Boma-lover. IMHO, the standouts were the goat cheese scrambled eggs, the bobotie and the buscuits with curried sausage gravy:worship:. They also had an omlette station which is always a plus. I gave it 5 stars.

DW on the other hand, gave it three stars and thought the food was meh and coffee was was horrible. (I thought the first pot was okay, but I agree with her on the 2nd). Maybe she's a convert to nescafe. :rotfl2:

Mrs. Potts thought it was only okay as well and gave it 3.5 stars. Se also hated the coffee.

Thus, it is with a heavy heart that I must announce that Boma breakfast only received 11.5/15 stars.:sad2:

Here are some of the plates:

My Plate

http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060400.jpg
Some pastries
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060404.jpg
Mrs. Potts omlette
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060405.jpg
And the winner - the buscuit with curried sausage gravy.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060409.jpg

This meal would have cost us $75.75.

Looking forward to Jiko for dinner tonight.

I have to admit, I was expecting a lot when we sat down here based on all of the great reviews on the DIS. I am not sure if it quite lived up to my high expectations, it would have been nearly impossible. But I will say that the food was fantastic and the CMs were friendly and efficient. This is a very nice restaurant at WDW.
We arrived for our 5:55pm ADR at 5:45 and we were seated promptly at 5:48. Our server was Omar from Morocco he was very knowledgeable on the menu and very friendly and super patient with the kiddies. Now on the food, the star of the show at Jiko.

Bread & Butter

http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060474.jpg

The bread was a hit with us – two kinds – honey wheat and flaxseed and the butter was a tandoori spiced butter, served room temperature, so it was highly spreadable and delicious.

On the apps
Aurora’s salad

Barbecue Chicken Flatbread

Artisan Cheese Selection

Taste of Africa - Trio of Dips with Assorted Breads and House-made Naan
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060484.jpg

Our apps were pretty good, but the bbq chicken flatbread was awesome! :worship:

Frankly, the breads and dips were better at Sanaa.

On to the main course
I had the Oak-Grilled Filet Mignon - with Macaroni & Cheese and Red Wine Sauce. It was just as good as the prior reviewers said it was fantastic!
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060495.jpg

DW got the Swahili Curry Shrimp

The food was great, but the service made on major mistake, they served the entrees before clearing the apps, so I gave Jiko 4 stars.

DW gave Jiko 4.5 stars

Mrs. Potts gave Jiko 4.5 stars

Total score 13/15 stars

Total cost without DxDDP $220

This morning we had breakfast at Norway. For some reason, I remembered it being better. We had an 8:25 ADR, we arrived at 8:25, but we weren’t seated until 9.

Biergarten was a blast and a great surprise. Biergarten had been on my list of places to try, but it always got vetoed by DW. We are so glad we finally go there. The food was much better than expected and there were a lot of choices. I would definitely recommend you try this place. We had 6:30 ADR and arrived at 6:20 to see a very long line at the check-in desk and didn’t check in until 6:40. We were seated quickly after checking in at about 6:43. Our server was Gretel from Bremen and she was fantastic. She kept our drinks flowing and our used plates from piling up. We were seated with a family of 3 from Iowa. After Jiko, what else could we do but go to Goofy's Candy Co. for a snack:rotfl2:.

As you can see we haven't eaten them yet. That's the counter in our villa.

What is that butterscotch-chip covered snack on the Mickey curly straw? looks yummy!

Thanks, they loved it.

It's 3 marshmellows dipped in dark chocolate, coated with peanut butter chips and drizzled in white chocolate.

wow Jiko looked awesome. I may have to reconsider Beirgarten. I always hesitate making an adr there as I have 2 picky eaters in my group.

I love goofy's candy co. can't wait to go there in oct. Already deciding between pretzel sticks and marshmallow. luckily, i have plenty of time to decide.

Loving your report. A couple of comments...

Your girls are so pretty! Someone said that they looked like fairies and I couldn't have described it better myself.

"Jiko-The Eating Place"...that's just hilarious. It is the eating place!

We got stuck with Mary Poppins once at the Princess Story Book breakfast and another time at the CRT breakfast and that was a major let down. Don't get me wrong...she's a great character but not a princess.

Last comment....those are some huge beers! Gee whiz.

The food at Jiko was pretty good, but for two TS credits it aughta be. Loved Biergarten - DW is a picky eater and Mrs. Potts is doing weight watchers and they both liked it. You should give it a shot. Goofy's candy shop is great, luckily it wasn't too busy when we got there.

Cape May Café is located in the Beach Club Resort, which is a beautiful DVC property located near Epcot. This was a must do for DW because it’s the only character breakfast we’d never been to. Now that we completed all of the character breakfasts, we will likely not be venturing back to Cape May unless we are staying at the Beach Club or Boardwalk; it’s really not work the trip from anywhere else. First, there are only three characters, Minnie, Goofy and Donald, so you won’t get as many pictures and autographs as other character spots. Second, the offerings are more limited and a bit lower quality than Chef Mickey’s, Crystal Palace or Tusker House. The highlights for me were the breakfast pizza and the bread pudding; the rest was average or below average, particularly the breakfast meats which were dried out.

We arrived for our 9 o’clock ADR at 9:08 (hey Disney transportation is not always a piece of cake). It was pretty busy at the podium and we were seated at 9:19. Our server was Betty and she was not very good, she didn’t clear the used plates and was a bit gruff.

Here are some of the food pics:

http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060679.jpg

We were seated at a booth, which can be a bit of a problem for character interactions. The Goofy and Minnie we only okay, but the Donald was great.

I gave Cape May Café a 2.5
DW gave it a 3.5, but said they did not replenish fast enough.
Mrs. Potts gave it a 3, but couldn’t find trhe oatmeal – she might have scored it higher if she had the oatmeal.

Total Score 9/15
Total Cost without DxDDP $92.61

We had three meals for the first time and I was a bit nervous. Figured Sci-Fi was a good bet for lunch, since the reviews were iffy I figured we wouldn’t need to eat much. Turns out I was wrong, we all thought this place was great and the food was a big part of it. Don’t get me wrong, this place is not gourmet, it’s supposed to be a drive in and it delivers big time on drive in food, so order a burger, please.

It was a rainy morning, so we checked in a bit early for our 1:20 ADR (12:55 to be exact) and we were seated at 1:26. Our server was a charming lass from the Isle of Wight called Sarah. She was excellent, though she did not wear roller skates. She was attentive and efficient, but she really scored big time when she brought Mrs. Potts a free glow in the dark Tinkerbell because “she had to do something special for a 60th birthday.” She scored even bigger when she gave us another one, since we have to DDs in the party.

So for those who don’t know, this place is set up as a drive-in movie theater and most patrons are seated in cars. Here’s ours:
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060739.jpg

It’s a bit dark, so you might want to take digital pictures of your food just so you can see what your eating.

We started with milkshakes, of course. DH loves chocolate, but wanted to try the Oreo Milkshake, so Sarah offer to make her milkshake half and half. Apparently these are premixed, so you can’t order a chocolate Oreo milkshake.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060742.jpg

I had the regular Oreo milkshake
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060743.jpg
Birds-eye view
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060745.jpg

On to the apps. DDs each started with sliced apples
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060749.jpg
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060753.jpg
I had the spinach and artichoke dip and chips and it was awesome. Three steps above your typical TGIFridays type fare
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060751.jpg

DW had the onion rings. These were good, but nothing special.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060750.jpg

Mrs. Potts tried the BLT soup. I though this one was a bit strange, she liked it though.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060752.jpg

Entrees: 4 burgers and a mistake. Please order a burger here, you won’t be disappointed.

DW ordered a chicken bruschetta sandwich. She recommends you order a burger and she normally does not eat meat (though she had 2 bites of mine).
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060757.jpg

Deserts. Again. I have to say we were pleased with this course as well.
First, Mrs. Potts’ apple crumble
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060764.jpg

DW and I each had the Peanut Butter-Chocolate Cake. This was very good.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060766.jpg

DDs had ice cream sundaes,
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060765.jpg
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060763.jpg

I gave Sci-Fi 4.5 stars.
DW gave it 4 stars based on the bad chicken sandwich.
Mrs. Potts gave it 5 stars.
Total score – 13.5/15 stars
Total cost without DxDDP - $118.18

After a long day at Hollywood Studios, we boarded a Friendship Boat bound for Epcot. No sooner than had we left the dock, we were faced with a potty emergency. I took Ariel (the subject of said potty emergency) off the boat at the Swolphin, while the rest of our intrepid group ventured on. BTW, the potty trip was a success and we were soon on the next Epcot-bound vessel. Due to my absence from the check-in, the following is based on hearsay, conjecture and speculation. 3/5s of our party arrived at Tutto Italia at around 8 for our 8 pm ADR. The waiting area was packed in like sardines. They called names quietly, one by one in heavy Italian accents. It was quite a struggle to hear which names were being called. Finally, our group was reunited and after a bit of a wait, we were seated around 8:30. Our server was Ylenia, she was friendly and sweet, but a bit overwhelmed. She even forgot the bread and butter – we had to request it. Here’s what we got:
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060786.jpg
It was good. But it would have been better if it came out before the apps.

Speaking of apps, DW got the eggplant parm. She enjoyed it.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060781.jpg

Mrs. Potts had the kid’s salad, since Aurora LOVES Caesar salad, but its not on the kid’s menu and they swapped.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060782.jpg
Here’s the Caesar salad. As you can see, its not chopped, so it can be a bit of work for the diner and/or their parents.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060783.jpg
I had the fried calamari, which was very good.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060785.jpg
BTW, they were out of all kid’s starters, other than the green salad, so no mozzarella sticks for Ariel. I guess they didn’t anticipate the effect of free dining.

Entrees –
DDs shared the pizza and the spaghetti and meatballs from the kid’s menu
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060789.jpg
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060791.jpg

DW had the Cannelloni al Forno which was excellent
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060790.jpg

Mrs. Potts had the salmon and was very happy with it as well.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060788.jpg

On Ylenia’s recommendation, I ordered some kind of tortellini, that was not so great and was a bit cold.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060787.jpg

Desserts.
I had the mocha tiramisu – it was good. http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060797.jpg

DW had the profiteroles which were really good.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060799.jpg

Here’s the dessert Mrs. Potts actually ordered. I think it was the Gianduja - Chocolate Torta
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060798.jpg

Ariel’s Mousse
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060800.jpg

Aurora’s gelato
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060801.jpg

After we finished our desserts, they comped a piece of chocolate cake and sang happy birthday in Italian to Mrs. Potts. The picture of the cake was blocked by the water glasses.

I rated Tutto Italia 3.5 stars
DW gave it 4 stars
Mrs. Potts gave it 4.5 stars
Total score 12/15 stars

Total cost without DxDDP would have been $214.07 without the wine. IMHO, this is a bit overpriced for the quality of the food and service. I admit, when it comes to good Italian food, I am a bit spoiled being from New York. This place is far better than any of the Italian food chains on I-drive and far superior to Mama Melrose, but if you’re not on the dining plan, you may not want to drop this much money for this meal.

Mrs. Potts (little miss weight watchers) brought here own breakfast – a piece of 50% cheddar cheese and a vita-muffin top. Sorry, no pics of that. She did join us for coffee.

I think that that plate of food looks like it would feed 2 people. seriously the serving spoon is as big as the eggs. I can't believe that they brought that out to you- or actually, you know, I can because the last time that we went we took the kids to breakfast at the castle and they brought us a plate EXACTLY the same size for all 6 of us. I remember asking our server if that was a joke. I mean really. Your plate had 4 sausages on it. You had 5 people at you table. One person is gonna be a Sad Sally until the server comes back and Lord help ya if you have a slow one. Yepper we don't do the Princess Breakfasts anymore. They are just too skimpy. We had Wendy, the Fairy Godmother as well as Mary Poppins. My children were the same age as your girls and they were confused as to why they were at a "Princess Breakfast" The only other Princesses that had made it the day we went were Cinderella and Snow White. Only 2 outta 5 were actual "Princesses" at our breakfast- I think that you had a better "Princess" day LOL!

A little back-story here. We did not have a breakfast planned for 8/19 90+10 some odd days ago, and had decided on trying the Tusker House lunch with the Nemo tix. Then DW started to get a yearning for some puffed French toast. So we decided to add on DW’s favorite breakfast as a “last minute” add. With the new online ADR system, it’s easy to keep checking and eventually got our 8:15 ADR for CP. Then just a few days ago, we came to our senses and decided to cancel Tusker, as there was just no way we’d want to run from MK to AK just for lunch.

A little background on CP. It’s located just off of Main Street on the left hand side as you approach the path to Adventureland. IMHO, it is the busiest, most hustlely-bustley TS place in the MK. It features Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eyore and is delicious. It is a very large all you can eat buffet, with many, many choices. Standouts include the puffed French toast, the breakfast lasagna, and of course the omelet/pancake station featuring chocolate chip Mickey pancakes.

Here’s a sample of the offerings:

Overall, this is an excellent character breakfast and a lot of fun. While the characters are not my favorite, this is one where the food and location is worth the money.

I gave CP 4.5 stars
DW gave CP 4.5 stars
Mrs. Potts gave 4.5 stars
Wow! That’s 13.5/15.

Narcoosee’s is a signature restaurant located right on Bay Lake at the Grand Floridian Resort. It is just a short boat ride from MK – I do recommend you take the boat and not the monorail, as Narcoosee’s is just a few steps from the boat dock. While Narcoosee’s is a 2TS meal and features upscale, creative food, it is not stuffy at all. The waitstaff wears blue button-down shirts with white aprons and all are very patient with patrons of all ages.

Our server was Zahira from Fez, Morocco and she was pretty good, though not the best. However, the service was adequate and the food more than made up for any deficiencies in the service. Here’s what we ate:
Bread and butter with Hawaiian Sea Salt – nothing special here, just okay, so don’t fill up on bread.

I had the calamari (again). This was very flavorful and I enjoyed it a lot. My one complaint would be that the olives made the dish a bit salty.

DW had the tomatoes and mozzarella – this was very nice as well. And beautiful, too.

Mrs. Potts ordered the cheese plate and we all sampled.

Aurora had the kid’s Caesar salad – her fave.

DW and I each gave Narcoosee’s 4.5 stars and Mrs. Potts gave it 4.75 and said it was the best food thus far. For those of you keeping track at home, that’s 13.75/15 and our highest score yet. If you’re on the fence, I recommend you give Narcoosee’s a try.

OMG, the breakfast at CP looks FANTASTIC!!! YUM!! We never do breakfast with the kiddos at a sit-down but that almost makes me want to change my mind.... Narcosee's calamari however, did not look so very appetizing. I might have sent that back. Your daughter's food looked great! I can't believe that is on the CURRENT Disney kid's menu!

We arrived at 9:12 am for our 9:35 ADR and we received our table at 9:17, which was before we took our picture with Cinderella. This was nice, no waiting for a change. CRT breakfast is a lot of fun for little princesses. It’s an all you care to eat, pre-plated breakfast served inside Cindy’s castle. We always enjoy CRT, because our DDs enjoy it so much. You start with a picture with Cinderella before you head into the restaurant. A photo package is included for groups of 4 or less and 2 photo packages are included with 5 people. Also, all the kids get a wishing star and the boys get swords and the girls get wands.

Here’s our DD’s meeting Cindy.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060982.jpg

Here’s what you get to eat:
They start you off with fruit salad. This was very good on this occasion and had some very nice mango slices. You also get a plate of pastries

http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060988.jpg
We had already started eating these before snapping a pic, so please forgive us.

Grownups get a choice of hot or cold healthy breakfast.
The hot breakfast is eggs, bacon, potato casserole and stuffed French toast with berry sauce.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060998.jpg
DW got it w/o sauce
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060989.jpg

The DDs got French toast sticks, eggs and bacon
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1060990.jpg

Our server was named Marina and she was awful. She did her best to ruin our meal. :rotfl: That’s what you get with prepaid tips. Of course, we didn’t let her and enjoyed anyway. She never once offered to refill anything. We didn’t push the issue because we still had 20 snack credits to use.

I love this breakfast spot. I can’t tell you if it’s “worth the money” but it is waaaaaay better than Norway and gratuity is included, so factor that in. I give it a 4.

DW gave it 3.5

Mrs. Potts loved her first time in the castle and loved her breakfast and gave it 4 stars. If we had a better waitress, I bet it would have been higher.

That’s a total of 11.5/15.
Without DxDDP it would have cost $184.52

When you ordered the pressed pot of coffee at Narcoosee's did it come with a small plate of macaroons?

My sister and I had the BEST dinner of our trip there last year and that was the perfect ending to our meal.

Thanks for great updates, I'm still back and forth if we should try Tutto Italia (so many good reviews) but I grew up in Long Island so I do understand about great Italian places and when I was dating (now my husband and I used to drive into NYC for dates). I love Narcoosee's its one of my favorite restaurant (one trip I ate there 2x and had it room service once...love that Maine Lobster and Crab cakes). I'm sad I can't fit it in our December trip (so many new ones to try). I can't believe they only have 3 characters at Cape May, when we went there last Feb 08 they had Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale but when I look at your photos...it seems like they have fewer selection of food (we went there too b/c its a character meal we haven't been). My husband tells me...you really don't go for the food at his character meals...you just want to check it off your list (its not really true b/c we would not go to Ohana character meal b/c my son is not into Stitch and the food selection doesn't appeal to us. And Akershus b/c we went to CRT and I have a son so no need to go to Akershus. I need to go to Garden Grill (but then the food selection does not appeal to me...but might go anyway to check it off and my son likes the character selection) Thanks for sharing.

We had a 6:50 ADR, I ran ahead of the group and checked in at 6:44. I was told that they were running about 15 minutes behind the ADR schedule. I figured we’d wait. I got a chance to speak with some interesting characters outside of Le Cellier while we were waiting to be seated. We were seated at 7:18. Our waiter was Mo from Morocco and he was terrible. Unfortunately, there is a trend developing between Mo and Marina from CRT and we are getting the short end of the service.

Sour Apple Slush – Ariel’s drink

Mixed Field Greens without the crumbled blue cheese – Mrs. Potts seemed to enjoy this http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1070153.jpg

Cheddar Cheese Soup – okay I am missing the thrill of this soup. It was sort like eating fondue with a spoon. Don’t get me wrong, I like fondue, but I don’t usually order mine straight up

Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon with wild mushroom risotto – this is where Le Cellier really delivers. The Filet was awesome and the risotto was good too. Here’s where LC lives up to the hype.

Roasted All Natural Chicken Breast

Kid’s Meal
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1070157.jpg

Desserts
Kid’s sundae
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1070160.jpg

Chocolate “Moose” – the best of the dessert offerings
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1070161.jpg

S’mores – I didn’t care for this one, but DW liked it.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1070162.jpg

The bottom line. This is an extremely over-hyped restaurant on DIS. I guess there are a lot of reasons why restaurants become popular and ADRs hard to come by. If you are looking for a very good steak for dinner and want to spend only one TS credit, I can see why you’d like Le Cellier and why you’d be willing to over look poor service and mediocre appetizers and desserts. Frankly, this formula has been working for Peter Luger’s for years not that I’m comparing LC to Luger’s (LC’s steaks are not that good). But Luger’s invented gruff service, and have a lot of over-priced and under performing appetizers and desserts and people line up for tables.

Based on the food alone, I gave Le Cellier 4 stars.
DW and Mrs. Potts each gave Le Cellier 3 stars.
Total score 10/15

Price without DxDDP $178.15

I do not like steak but DH does...we'll be goin in May of '11 for a solo parent 15 yr anni trip and want to dine at TS plces we wouldn't w/ the kids...will think more about this LC hype.... :scratchin:

thanks for all the info...gives me something to think about and what would be easier for the kids! plus I guess I can have my first choice of times and then 2nd when I go to book that ADR next spring!

You're welcome.

Great reviews! Thanks!

Thanks.

Just read your whole report, loved the reviews! I was wondering where you found the FUZE drinks, my son loves those! :thumbsup2

Thanks. I found it at the snack stand in Mickey's Toontown Fair across from Minnie's House.

oh, loved your comparison of the cheese soup to fondue with a spoon...but that's exactly what we do with the cheese soup: we use it as dip for the bread sticks...serious yum!

Never tried actually eating it as a soup, mmmm, what a novel idea:lmao:

Glad you enjoyed your filet...we love those.

Really, I think the main reason Le Cellier is so hard to get is that it is so small - it's just that one room with what, 30 tables? Well, don't know how many there really are, but it's not very many tables in there at all.

Complete WDW to the rescue! Le Cellier seats 156, the same as Garden Grill and San Ángel Inn. Most Epcot restaurants on the DDP seat between 200-400 though.

Of course, I did that too. I also dipped one of DD's celery sticks which was good as well. Don't get me wrong, the soup and pretzel bread was pretty good, just not up to the level of the hype.

‘Ohana is my favorite character breakfast spot at WDW. It is not the best food per se, I would give that title to Crystal Palace, I think it’s the pace of the whole meal and the friendliness of the staff, or maybe it’s the POG juice. The coffee is good too.

We arrived for 8:05 ADR at 7:55, we checked in at 8:03 and were promptly seated at 8:04. Our server was “cousin” Katie T from Akron and she was awesome. If you go to ‘Ohana for breakfast, I hope you get Katie.

‘Ohana is located in the Polynesian resort. It has characters at breakfast time and features Lilo and Stitch as well as Mickey and Pluto in Hawaiian attire. The breakfast is served family style and is all you care to eat.

Here’s what we had to eat:
Fruit plate
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/Grandma/P1010299.jpg

Pineapple bread and cinnamon raisin bread (I don’t remember any raisins, but DW insists there were)
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/Grandma/P1010320.jpg

The family style skillet
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/Grandma/P1010310.jpg

Mickey waffles

DW requested egg whites

Stitch got Katie into the antics by insisting that she pour him some coffee. Here’s Stitch on his coffee break.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/Grandma/P1010300.jpg

The characters also lead the children around the restaurant in a parade with maracas.

DW and I each gave ‘Ohana 4.5 and Mrs. Potts gave it 3.5 for a total of 12.5/15

Without the DxDDP it would have cost us $84.09

we ate there for our first time last June and just loved it too....that juice was YUMMY!!!!!, my kids didn't really like the juice so that meant more for me ;)

Stitch is just so awesome there...he came by are table twice once in the autograph round and then once to play a trick on me....I was signing our tip reciept when behind my shoulder a heard a "PSST!" I assume when I turn around it will be one of my kids....not.

It was a big blue head and I jumped out of my seat :scared1:

Stitch and my DD Aldine got the best laugh out of that!

we also love the interaction at Ohana Breakfast - I like to let people know that come after the first seatings - that Ohana seats by sections - so the characters go around to each person in a section - when that section is cleared completely then the Ohana staff seat the next group of people waiting - which means -

that waiting area can be pretty full of people!!

so we usually do this on our last day - sit and relax, no worries, Ohana time!!

I didn't find the waiting at Ohana any worse then the other breakfast places. It was better then our wait at Norway. But when we went to Kona Cafe for breakfast, there was a huge line to check in to Ohana.

Yeah it took awhile for Aurora to actually try the juice, but when she did it went straight to her head and she literally bounced out of 'Ohana chanting "pog juice, pog juice, pog juice". Ariel won't touch the stuff, so more for me too.

I think that they tend to do this at a lot of the character breakfasts. We had a very long wait at Norway. When we were done eating, the entire place was empty and there was a huge line outside, including a guy who got there before we checked in.

There wasn’t much cheese on the menu, but there was plenty on stage. The Hoop de Doo Revue is a cheesy, corny vaudeville style stage show and we loved every minute of it. Especially after a few glasses of beer (pictured below). The show was a lot of fun and we were very pleasantly surprised by the food. We expected quantity, but I have to say the quality of the food is good too.

You start off with a salad. It was pre-made and it was delicious.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0821119.jpg

And cornbread – also delicious
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0821120.jpg

Drinks are included here, so here’s DW’s sangria
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0821122.jpg

And my beer. Our waitress was smart and just left me the pitcher.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0821124.jpg

On to the main course – fried chicken, ribs, beans, mashed potatoes. We also requested mac & cheese for DD’s, especially Ariel who wouldn’t particularly like the food at HDD.

We got them at the snack bar between Dumbo and Ariel's grotto, I think it's called Scuttle's Landing. They were pretty good - I must admit I had a few sips. One DD couldn't decide between the flavors, so the CM made her a parfait style mix.

I was looking forward to breakfast at Kona for a while now. I had heard great things about Tonga Toast and I needed to try it. I was also looking forward to a non-buffet, non-character breakfast. I have to say Kona Café did not disappoint. Kona Café is located in the Polynesian Resort right next to ‘Ohana. We had a 7:45 am ADR, but we arrived at 7:58. We checked in and the place was empty, but they gave us a buzzer anyway; it promptly buzzed and we were seated by 8. Our server was Teresa from the Dominican Republic and she was excellent. Now let’s get to the meal

First, a little coffee from the Pressed Pot
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822001.jpg

I had the Tonga Toast (banana stuffed sourdough bread, rolled in cinnamon sugar and served with Strawberry Compote) and opted for sausage. It was just as good as everyone says. Though I did not find it too sweet to eat, in fact I thought the strawberry sauce added just enough tartness to balance it out. I managed to eat the whole thing. :rotfl:
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822005.jpg

DW had the Big Kahuna - French toast, Macadamia-Pineapple pancakes, eggs, home fried potatoes, ham, bacon, and sausage. She got the pineapple and macadamia nut butter on the side.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822006.jpg
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822007.jpg
Mrs. Potts had the fruit plate
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822003.jpg

Ariel had Donald's Choice - One egg, quacked and scrambled, with sweet cinnamon toast
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822004.jpg

Aurora had Minnie's French Toast - rolled in cinnamon sugar
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822002.jpg

For a couple of days both DDs proclaimed that this was their favorite breakfast – this was over all of the character meals. Although the food was good, I think it was because the meals were named after the characters. If I only knew this trick earlier, we probably could have gotten them to eat more at the other meals.

We even got a big bottle of water with our left over drink credits.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822008.jpg

I gave Kona Café 4 stars
DW gave it 3.5
Mrs. Potts gave it 4 stars.
For those of you keeping score at home, that’s 11.5/15
Without DxDDP it would have cost us $67.35

I wanted to add they were both snack credits. Aurora wanted the funnel cake. At first I told her no, since it did not have a dining plan snack credit logo next to it. The CM gave me a look, :rotfl2:, You could just tell that he was going along with it not being a snack credit since he thought I didn't want DD to get it. She had ordered a vanilla ice cream instead, but then I asked and was told that the only thing that was not a snack credit was the huge mickey head waffle. Glad we saved room for lunch, as it was one of those dreaded 3 meal days. :rotfl2:
After spending some time at MK, we headed over to Epcot for lunch at Chefs de France. We figured we have to wait to be seated, it being free dining and all, so DW went to get some FPs for Test Track, while the rest of us headed over to France. Well, we arrived at 1:28 for our 1:30 ADR and we were seated at 1:29. :confused3 So we waited for DW at the table. Our waiter was Matthew (according to his nametag), but our check said Matthieu. Any way you spell it, he was a pretty good server. Well, time to eat.

They started us with a pretty average roll w/ butter
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822062.jpg

Ariel’s Friand au Fromage - Cheese puff pastry
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822063.jpg

Aurora’s Salade Verte - Mixed green salad
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822065.jpg

DW and Mrs. Potts ordered Soupe a l' oignon gratinee - Onion soup topped with Gruyere cheese
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822064.jpg

Are those snails on my plate? Cassolette d'escargots de Bourgogne au beurre persille - casserole of Burgundian escargots baked in parsley and garlic butter
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822066.jpg

The starters were quite good. I sampled the soup as well as my escargot and both were very nice. Ariel did not share here pastry – which means it was probably very good.

Look who showed up at lunch - somebody call an exterminator!!
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822069.jpg
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822067.jpg
Ariel was so excited. Take a look at her face – we did not tell her that there would be a character at this meal.

Unfortunately, Aurora slept through Remy and we didn’t have the heart to wake her.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822071.jpg

Entrees
Ariel’s Blanc de Poulet Aux Nouilles - Breaded chicken strip served with pasta
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822072.jpg

Aurora’s Croquette de Boeuf en Brioche - Ground beef steak in a brioche bun, served with French fries (otherwise known as a hamburger)
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822074.jpg
She eventually woke up and ate all of the fries.

Mrs. Potts got the Filet de Saumon, salade de choux avec pomme et mail, coulis aux herbes -
Broiled salmon on mixed cabbage with cubed apple and corn salad, fresh herb vinaigrette
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822075.jpg

DW and I shared Lasagnes de legumes du soleil a l'huile d'olive au thym - zucchini, eggplant, tomatoes, onions and bell peppers baked into thin layers of pasta and Gratin de Macaroni - Baked macaroni with cream and gruyere cheese
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822073.jpg
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822076.jpg
Neither of these were particularly good. I thought the mac and cheese was too dry. They weren’t terrible, but I wouldn’t recommend either one.

On to desert
DW and I each ordered the Profiteroles au chocolat - Puff choux with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce as she would not agree to share in advance.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822078.jpg
The chocolate sauce was very good, but the pastry itself tasted frozen.

DDs’ ice creams
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822077.jpg
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822079.jpg

http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/0822081.jpg

Overall this was a pleasant meal and a nice break from the heat. For me, it’s kind of a been there, done that and I don’t know if I’ll be back. I gave it a 3.5
DW gave it a 3.5 and Mrs. Potts gave it a 4.

The burger was not fancy at all, just a thin patty on a thick brioche roll. I have no idea on the chicken and fries, since we didn't try to order it that way.

Thanks for the update. I love those snails and use the bread to dip on the garlic butter. Sorry your meal was not great. I love that place, I usually get the beef dish and my husband get a seafood dish. We can't wait to go back. How was the hamburger? That's probably what I'm going to order for my son. Last year we ordered the pasta with chicken but he does not like the breaded chicken so he just ate the pasta enjoyed it. Thanks again for sharing a great food review.

I'm with you on Chefs de France. One of the most overrated places we've eaten in WDW. Soup was good, dessert was ok, entrees were not so great. Noisy, crowded, spotty service. All in all I can find better bang for my buck (or DDP credits!).

I'm with you on the escargot. If they're on the menu, I have to order them. The hamburger was fine, but nothing special. I just had one bite, though.

I am not bashing the place, but I tend to agree with you, there are better places to eat at WDW.

I'm surprised so many people don't like Chefs. We have always had good service and great food. It's a must do for my DH as well. Everybody's different, I guess!

good reviews - I think the pictures make Chefs look better than it truly is based on the many reviewers that agree with you!!

and of course now that Remy is there - more people are on this as a 'must do' (reports of Remy leaving may be premature - he was supposed to go to France at the end of Sept, now he may be around longer!)

I hope it's better for you next time. Maybe try Bistro de Paris? One day I'll try that place.

Our service was good. I thought the appetizers were good. Perhaps, if we ordered a different entree, we would have liked it better. Mrs. Potts liked her salmon a lot.

I'm sure they added Remy (and certain discounts) to lure the lunch crowd. It was pretty slow, we were seated in under a minute during free dining.

It certainly makes it all worthwhile.

We had Matthieu as our waiter for lunch at Chefs as well! We must have been there the same day- he told my mom that he forgot his nametag at home and since his name is also pronounced Matthew he took a coworkers name tag. I was completely in love with him- we took a picture and now we're facebook friends!

Did you get the low-carb fench onion soup?

My DH did. Unfortunately onions are naturally kind of high in carbs, so even removing the hunk of bread only does a little bit. He really enjoyed it though.

I can't imagine removing the bread from the soup. Of course I could live on just carbs. :rotfl:

So, we were in the midst of a 3-meal day. We were thoroughly stuffed from Kona breakfast and Chefs de France lunch and had an ‘Ohana ADR on the horizon (not to mention an extra meal credit to deal with). As much as we like ‘Ohana, the thought of unlimited meats on sticks was not too appealing on a full stomach. So DW and I walked over to guest services outside of the world showcase, cancelled our ‘Ohana ADR (somebody got lucky during free dining) and proceeded to call for DRs for the signature restaurants. There was nothing at Cali Grill, they had some really late ones at Citricos and Flying Fish and not much else. We decided on Artist Point, because the could get us in at 910 and because we could take the boat between Wilderness Lodge and BLT.

Let me start out by saying that this review is going to be a bit weird, since DW did not like anything she ordered, but in spite of that, had a great time thanks to Javier, our waiter from Columbia, who was excellent. We arrived at Artist Point at nine and we were seated by five after nine. The décor at AP is fantastic, it incorporates the rustic Americana of the Wilderness Lodge into an upscale, open airy restaurant.

We were promptly served the best bread and butter “course” of our trip.

I started with the mussels. These were average at best, nothing special, but not too bad either.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1070318.jpg

DW had the venison potstickers. She described them as “too meaty” and only ate the wrappers. Javier then brought them to me to eat. I thought they were okay.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1070320.jpg

Mrs. Potts ordered the cheese plate. This was the best of the starters.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1070319.jpg

Ariel got the watermelon
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1070321.jpg

Aurora got a salad that was apparently camera-shy.

Mrs. Potts and I both had a bison sirloin for our entrees and it was excellent.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1070325.jpg

DW ordered the wild boar. We were expecting something resembling a port chop, but that was not the case. The boar was very gamey and the meat was stringy. I would recommend that you avoid this dish – get the bison!
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1070323.jpg
Javier tried to give this one to me when he saw that DW wasn’t eating it, but I did not care for it at all.

The girls had a grilled chicken dish and the mac and cheese.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1070322.jpg
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1070326.jpg

For desert, the girls had the White Chocolate Mickey Puzzle with Cookie. They had a lot of fun painting it.
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1070328.jpg

Our desserts:
Crème brulee
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1070329.jpg

Artist Point Cobbler - Seasonal berries and housemade black raspberry ice cream
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1070330.jpg

Double Chocolate Cheesecake with vanilla shortbread, raspberry coulis, Grand Marnier mousse, and candied orange
http://i739.photobucket.com/albums/xx31/amandelba/P1070331.jpg

Okay, so DW has officially delined to give AP a numerical rating, since she didn’t like her food, but had fun anyway. Let’s give it a 3 from DW.

I thought the appetizers and desserts were quite average, but my entrée and the service were excellent, so I gave AP 3.75.

Mrs. Potts gave AP a 4.

Total Score = 10.75/15
Total Cost without DxDDP = $259.93

We plan on having dinner at Sanaa's, the burger your daughter ordered looks huge.
I will remember to order the burger at Sci-Fi as you recommended.;)

Geez, it's been like forever since I've been on DIS boards, but real life gets in the way sometimes. Since we're going back to WDW soon, DW told me I had to finish this dining report before we start eating again. :rotfl2: And, since there's only one meal left to go, I better wrap it up this week.:thumbsup2

We had no left over credits. We changed out last dinner to a 2ts so that took care of all the meal credits, then we hit the candy counter and picked out fudge and chocolate as well as mickey heads to take home after our breakfast at Chef Mickeys.

Hello everyone. It's been quite a while since I started this "live" dining report. In fact we've since been to WDW again and taken a Disney Cruise. Sorry, no reports for those two events, too much stress. :rotfl:

So . . . our last day tradition is always breakfast at Chef Mickey's. We are normally not big fans of buffets, but we like breakfast so much, we make an exception for Chef Mickey's. Let's start with the new (it was new then) lobby set up. It is so much more organized that it used to be.

For those of you who are not familiar with breakfast at Chef Mickey's, it is a full breakfast buffet with all the trimmings and features the fab 5 - Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto. The food is generally good and there is a nice variety. The staff is always refilling, so there is plenty to go around. The highlights for me include: Goofy's Vegetable Lasagna, breakfast pizza (unfortunately, the peanut butter pizza is gone - allergy issues, I guess), and the made to order pancakes.

Chef Mickey's is loud and hectic with great character interaction. We always have fun at Chef Mickey's, but some folks can't handle the excitement and get carried away. We've had issues there before (including a family that actually and loudly accused us of cutting the line, because our buzzer went off first), this time was no exception. We had to groups of people rudely cut in front of the characters at our table, every one else just waits their turn at there table and the CMs will assist you if you miss a character. One of these folks (a grown up, of course) continued to hover at our table and tried to ruin our pictures, but DW called over a CM and he quickly shooed that lady away from our table.

Overall we enjoy this meal and our DDs always ask for it, so we'll be back soon. We each gave it 4 stars, for a total of 12. It cost us one meal credit each, but would have cost us $109.65 if we paid cash.
