I know in general it is OK to split a meal on the dxdp, but if you want the CP package, does each person have to order his own meal in order to get a reserved seat?
I ask because I have a 4yo and a 3yo who can split a kids meal with leftovers, and it seems it would be a huge waste of food if I had to order each of them a meal. (We use their other meal credit during the day when they are hungry and we are not, usually they will split a CS then too)

have not done the CP dinner package, but have done the Fantasmic dinner show several times. I read over the info on CP, and it looks like the same basic offer as the Fantasmic package...you book & pay for a meal at selected restaurants, they give you reserved seat with the meal. I see it is a fixed price meal, based on various tiers of restaurants. I seriously doubt that you would be allowed to have your kids split a meal...I would expect the answer to your question is no, no sharing. Or rather, your kids can share all the food they want, but you will pay for both meals in order to get the reserved seats for both kids (or use 2 kids TS entitlements if you're on the Dining Plan.)
That's the way the other dinner packages and dinner shows work...each ticket holder has to have paid for the meal, whether or not they eat it. The only exceptions I know of would be for kids under 3...eating off parent's plates. But if both kids are over 3, then you're either going to have to pay cash at the CP dinner package price, or use their TS credits. That's the point of making it a dinner package - you agree to pay for a dinner to get each ticket, and Disney agrees to reserve you a seat at a specific show.

Yeah, that's about what I was thinking. I just hate wasting food. Thanks for the quick response.

oh, I hear ya...many's the time I wished there was a convenient way to carry a doggie bag back to the hotel - specially since we usually eat dinner early, then I just might be hungry around 11 p.m. and wishing I could have the remains of dinner to snack on!:rotfl:

You can ask for a carry out tray, and they will give you a bag to carry it in. If they don't have a bag, you can go into any of the stores and they will give you one. We carry zip loc bags to the parks for smaller items. You can also fold up a plastic bag and put it in your backpack, pocket, etc., then use it later for just such purposes.
