Ferris' 1st Buddy Walk Fundraiser [Archive] - The DIS Discussion Forums

Hi Everyone!!

I just wanted to give a little more information about the Buddy Walk. October is Down Syndrome Awareness month and we will be participating in Ferris' first of many Buddy Walks! The purpose of the fundraiser is to raise money and awareness for our local DS association, the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida.

We truly appreciate any donations made in his honor because all proceeds will benefit Ferris and all of his friends! 100% of the money collected will go to the DSACF. Here is the link to donate: http://www.firstgiving.com/ferrismartin (http://www.firstgiving.com/ferrismartin)

We will be walking with pride because of our amazing son! We already have some definite Buddies, Corey's parents, Pete, and Nanny Anna! We totally understand that most of you cannot be here for the walk and will be with us in spirit!

Thanks for supporting Ferris' Dollars for Down's! The entire DIS community has been super supportive and loving since the annoucement of my pregnancy and since his birth. It means a great deal to us! Thanks again from the bottom of our hearts!

Thanks for giving us DISers the opportunity to contribute to this great cause in Ferris' name! My oldest brother had special needs, so I know how wonderful it is to have a local community support group. In our city, the Down Syndrome group is called "Designer Genes"! :goodvibes

I'm posting just to say that Ferris is one cute kid -- the picture at the top of the page is darling, and the picture in the inner tube is fantastic. What a photogenic little guy!

I wish all parents were as supportive and active as Julie and Corey. Best of luck with all of your efforts!

I saw that Ferris' Funky Bunch is in the top three teams! And the top team is a baby almost the exact same age as Ferris - maybe they can make friends at the walk!

Issac and Ferris are friends! I have met his mom at the many Mom's Night Out events and we attend the same playgroups!

What a great cause! I work with special needs children and I just love what I do, our kids are great ::yes::! I am headed over to donate right now but I have to say, Ferris is so cute that I think we have to find a way to keep his picture up top (where the banner is) when the walk is over :goodvibes!

Q. How many walkers do you expect to have in Ferris' gang? (just might be some goodies from NOLA for the group) :rolleyes1

Q. Do we need to get a sign up sheet of any kind (pledges and such) or should we just donate on the link above?

We will be coming from AK (have a vehicle) and have room for two more riders so if anyone wants to come along we can pick you up!

Finally, I am thinking about wearing my 3" high heeled lime green reebock knock offs (I just do not want to clash with Pete's footwear) :scared1:

Was this the walk Pete planned to walk in drag? (seems I recall discussion of this topic a few months back.....) popcorn::

Registration is free online, but will cost $25.00 per person the day of the walk. Most of you are registered, but there are some that are not.
