Yes, I received it, too. Just be aware, if you are not familiar with the area: Google maps labels the Garden City Hotel as "Roosevelt Field Mall," and puts the hotel on the curb! The Garden City Hotel is NOT across the street from Roosevelt Field Mall. Just a heads up for people coming from great distances.

The event dates on this invitation are for members. There will be a special event on Friday, 8/28 at 4pm for non-members. Any non-DVC members interested in receiving an invitation, please pm me.

Mine came via email this afternoon. I signed up for the 29th. I would have gone on the 28th but I am not sure I can get there after work in time. Check your spam folder and if you don't get it I would call your guide or MS

I'm not a member either & got the invite for 8/29-30. Came over to the DVC board to ask about it. We're definitely going...registered for the 30th. Leaving DH home so I can't make any rash decisions. LOL
What goes on? I mean, I know it's a big fun sales pitch...but they can't talk to for 2 hours, can they?
Is there enough to keep the kiddies occupied for 2hrs? My DD is almost 5, so it says there's stuff for her. My niece is only 3...will it be a problem to have her there?
Never been to one & am very excited!! :) TIA for any info.

The events will definitely be fun for all ages. Looks like DVC included more than just Members in the overall weekend invite. The Friday, August 28 event at 4 p.m. will be for non-members exclusively. There will be a fully produced Disney show, audience giveaways, an overview of Membership, a DJ dance party and a character meet & greet.

Do they offer special deals at these events? Is it worth the 3 hour drive? I am thinking it will get me in more trouble going though. Addonitis might get the better of me and financially we can do it but not without financing for a short time and I would rather not but if its a great deal I don't want to turn that down either.

I received an invite also but can't seem to talk my DH into making the trip, we live in Maryland, so I'll have to sit this one out.
Have fun to all those attending!!

So where is it then? Was thinking of going Fri night....and taking the train fron NJ to avoid the traffic....is it near the station? :confused3

The registration confirmation states that there will be a kids club for children 4 and up as for the 3 year old, it might be a problem for you if she can't sit still for the presentation.

I just hope we aren't going to sit in metal folding chairs and watch the free handout DVC sales pitch video for 2 hours.

Yes, there seems to be an LIRR station very close, located at Cathedral Ave. and 7th:

We are going the Friday night. So excited! I have never been to one of these events. Sounds like fun. Anyone here been to one? It sounds like there will be a little sales pitching going on, but lots of fun as well.

Joe,
I'm with you on this. We got the invite and my DH (the great guy that he is) agreed to go on Saturday, 10 a.m., even though he is adamant about NO add ons:rotfl:! I look forward to a "dose of DVC", but if it's a straight sales pitch we'll be leaving early.
Maybe, just maybe, they'll be really good incentives for add ons (oh, didn't I just say DH says NO WAY ;):lmao:
I am hoping for more info on trade outs, RCI, nightly's, Club Cordial, etc. (not that we've ever traded out before, but you never know!)
At least some of us LI DVCers will be able to meet!

Anyone taking the train (LIRR) beware. There are 3 Garden City stops.

The 4pm Friday show is by invitation from the DVC Authorized Independent Sales Agents.
Check your pm's, I responded to your message last night.

I got the invite as well but will not be attending. We were invited to, and attended, the one in Boston a couple of months back.
If the one in LI is like Boston, you will have a good time. The incentives are great! We paid $96/point for BLT. I believe AKV was $93 and SSR even cheaper.
Bring the kids. Mickey, Minnie, Cinderella, Alladin and more were all there.

If anyone is going on Sunday and wants to make a day of it, I've just read in the local newspaper that Roosevelt Field Mall-near to the Garden City Hotel, and home of the new DVC store-is having a FREE special back to school event from 1-7 pm. It is for teens and tweens, and will have performances by music groups, fashion shows, extreme sprots demonstrations, and games. More info at www.simon.com
