Welcome to thread #3!
Thread #1 can be found here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1962519
Thread #2 can be found here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2125175
Ladies and gentlemen I give you the 2009 DIS Member Cruise webpages:
Main Web Page (http://monorailgreen.info/member2009/index.htm)
Member Photo Gallery (http://monorailgreen.info/member2009/gallery/photoindex.htm)
We (Mark and Mary) are thrilled to be sailing on the 2009 Member cruise with all of you. We've set up the website above as we have for past Member Cruises.
In addition as in past years we will make gifts of buttons to all the DISers and their families. We do this as a way to identify the DISers to each other. We ask only 3 things: 1) you must be a poster on the DIS. In the past we've had people who just found our site via web searches. 2) we ask for your cabin number for the buttons so we can deliver them if you miss the meet. If you want your cabin posted on the site and in the mini navigator so others can find you great - if you want it kept secret we will do that as well. 3) only ask for a button if you are going to wear it. They do cost money and we would hate to waste the money if you aren't going to wear it.
Button Sign-up is now closed!
The Logo
Btw, permission IS given to grab the logo below for your own siggie. That's why it's there. :thumbsup2 Thanks to Time4disneynow/Monika for the original artwork :)
If you've never done that before, here's some easy instructions!
Highlight the following line, right click and select copy:
http://photopost.wdwinfo.com/data/500/36347ssmc2009G.gif
Click on UserCP above.
Click on Edit Signature.
Right click and paste, select Done :)
DIS MEETS
As noted on the website we have two DIS meets set up. These are based on past Member Cruises and what has worked well. Of course it is up to the group as a whole so if someone has another idea for time/place for the DIS meets let us know. Also if anyone is staying out by the Port Saturday night by all means set up a DIS meet there. We've done that before and it is great fun.
What you can do!
That's what we've taken on, but there are many other things you can do to help make this cruise great.
First and foremost become a regular poster. As we all get to know each other is where the fun comes in.
Things we've done on past cruises that you could volunteer to do:
Linked dining - on past cruises someone took up the job of linking the DIS group in dining. This could be one person willing to do it for both seatings or two people (one for early and one for late). We can put you in contact with who has done it in the past to find out how. Update - Flo is handling this!
Fish extenders - organizing the exchange of little gifts between DISers. Update - Flo is organizing this!
Pirates/Swans - a little game we play on the thread based on each 99th post and each 100th post. Update: Gary (OKWMEMBER) who gave us the game on the 2008 thread has volunteered to be the pirate master this year as well even though he isn't sailing with us. Thanks Gary.
Group Party Bus - something we did in 2006. Update: Annmarie has volunteered to look into and organize the party bus!
T-shirts - back in 2005 and 2006 we had group t-shirts. We haven't the past couple of years. Either way works fine, but if someone wants to organize this through cafe press etc. have at it.
Anything else you've done with past cruise groups or something new you'd like to do for this group? Let's hear about it.
Well that is about it - any questions just ask away.
Pirates and Swans:
Pirate postings - on the last Member cruise thread Gary OKWMember came up with the pirate game where each 100th post got a pirate (and later we added each 99th post got an Elizabeth Swan). We even gave prizes away at the onboard DIS meet. Gary has volunteered to be Pirate Master again even though he isn't sailing with us. We'll have a prize for the DISer with the most pirates and the most swans at the onboard DIS meet.
Fish Extenders Sign Up Is Now Closed!
Flo (wltdsnyfan) has offered to organize the Fish Extender program. PM her if you are interested in joining. Here's what she has to say about it:

So far there are 37 cabins.
Please keep in mind the cut off to participate in the Fish Extender exchange is August 12, 2009. This way it gives everyone time to get there items.
If any one would like a list with room numbers and such before the SSM09 send me an e mail (girlwolf@excite.com) or PM me your e mail address and after the cut off I will send you the spreadsheet.

Party Bus Will Not be taking place
Annmarie looked into setting up a chartered bus from WDW to the port and back. Here's what she has to say:
Party Bus: There were approximately 25 people who wanted to do the party bus but unfortunately that number is too low to charter a bus. My thought (while not as fun as a party bus) is perhaps each resort or area organizes transportation to/from your area or resort and the port. This should still be less expensive than than using Disney's transportation.
Linked Dining Is Now Closed!
Flo (wltdsnyfan) has volunteered to handle the linking of dining for the group. Thanks Flo! Linking with other DISers adds a lot of fun to the cruise because you can get to know each other here before sailing. That way you aren't sitting with strangers you are sitting with DIS friends.

Hi! I was starting to fill out the on-line check in forms and I have a question. The instructions say that we must fill out a charging form for everyone in the cabin. Does that mean that we can each have our room charges do to separate credit cards?

Yes, if everyone in the stateroom has a credit card, then each person/s charges can be done to separate credit cards.

Just checking in.
I can not believe that we are only 30 Days out!!! Can not wait to meet everyone.
I went to check on my boys tonight- they share a room, and I found that my two year old had thrown up all over the place- poor thing  and he didn't even get up to come and get me or Ryan. So... I just cleaned the carpet again- for the second time this week (the first time was just because it needed it!) It also figures that I washed all of the bedding today too- and will be doing that again tomorrow! :sad2:
I was planning on working on my FE's tonight!

Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah Tip Of The Day
Today we have some little hints that can improve your stateroom life. Some of which have been covered in discussion - some not.
1. Bring an over the door shoe hanger - you can use it for shoes, but also for the little things you need like suntan lotion, sun glasses, etc.
2. If you need to use a curling iron or blow dryer you might want to bring an extension cord as the outlets are not in the best place on the desk for using one.
3. If you want a little privacy from the kids bring a few clothes pins to keep the privacy curtain closed.
4. If you have connecting rooms ask your room steward for the small blocks of wood they use to keep the doors open. The block goes in the upper part of the door by the closer and keeps it open. Easy to remove if you want to close them at night.
5. If you get a sewer smell in your bathroom it is easy to cure yourself by pouring a cup or two of water down the drain behind the toilet (we've never experienced it but have read about the smell on the DIS).
6. If you have a family that makes it own smells you might want to bring an air freshener for the bathroom.
7. After you unpack it is easy to store you luggage out of sight under your bed. If you lift the corner of the bed half of it will come up easily to slide the luggage under.
8. Post-it notes or a small wipe board inside the cabin helps you keep track of other family members.
Hope these help!

1. Bring an over the door shoe hanger - you can use it for shoes, but also for the little things you need like suntan lotion, sun glasses, etc. DONE!
2. If you need to use a curling iron or blow dryer you might want to bring an extension cord as the outlets are not in the best place on the desk for using one. AND FOR COMPUTER CHARGING, PHONE CHARGING, MP3 CHARGING, ETC ETC ETC.
3. If you want a little privacy from the kids bring a few clothes pins to keep the privacy curtain closed. ALSO IF YOUR ROOM FACES EAST! OR WEST!
4. If you have connecting rooms ask your room steward for the small blocks of wood they use to keep the doors open. The block goes in the upper part of the door by the closer and keeps it open. Easy to remove if you want to close them at night. GOOD ONE, NEVER THOUGHT OF THIS ONE!
YEAH, ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE THE MALE VARIETY FAMILY MEMBERS!
7. After you unpack it is easy to store you luggage out of sight under your bed. If you lift the corner of the bed half of it will come up easily to slide the luggage under. WE USUALLY PUT OUR LIFE JACKETS UNDER THE BED, LEAVES ROOM ON THE CLOSET SHELF FOR CLOTHES
8. Post-it notes or a small wipe board inside the cabin helps you keep track of other family members. GOOD ONE!!!! CAUSE WE LOSE FAMILY MEMBERS ALL THE TIME!

Happy Thursday Everyone!!!!!
I was cracking up last night when I got back on to read the posts after the battle for the princess and pirate. I had jumped on real quick before logging off the computer to read through the posts and then jumped back off to run out the door. Had errands to run before I went to class.
Monika and Sue - I just made it to class in time. About 10 minutes after I got in the building it was a downpour.
After last night's class, I am down to two remaining. Woo Hoo! :cool1:
Now to get working on my final assignment. Finished with all the quizzes. :thumbsup2
I had a Dr. appt today and DS had to tag along with me. After the appointment, we ended up getting him new shorts to wear to the restaurants and a pair of Ecco sandals. I do not think we will even bring his sneakers this trip. Not sure yet. At age 10 he is in a mens 9 and they take up a lot of space in his suitcase. I think we might have everything we need for the kids at this point. Now to get it all in a suitcase.
Our new rolling duffle bag arrived on Monday so that was also very exciting. DD had to examine every zipper, pouch, compartment, etc. :rotfl: She had it all planned out where all her clothes were going. I did not have the heart to tell her we would all be putting clothes in the bag.
Flo and Mary - I wanted to once again thank you both for all the time you have spent organizing the details for the group. :thumbsup2 :flower3:
I also wanted to thank everyone else out there for all the helpful hints, information, and words of encouragement over this past year. I just can not believe we are down to less than a month for when the kids and I leave for WDW and then get to meet all of you. So exciting!!!! :dance3:
Our first cruise!! :cheer2:
Have a nice evening! Not sure if I will be back on later today. I am hoping to get the FE gifts finished tonight. At least what I can get done until I get back to Cape May to get more items. I may just have to send my dad over to pick up the stuff and drop it off to me. I may have to beg. :worship:
Enjoy the rest of your evening.

I have been wondering too, why all the secrecy. On the dvcmembercruise website they have under "theme" that the 2008 theme is Disney Inspirations. Do they mean 2009, or are they telling us about last year? Anyone out there go last year, or know someone who did? I haven't seen any docs yet, either. I'm hoping I see them soon. Really looking forward to the cruise. It will be our second time on DCL, but we haven't cruised on Disney since 1998 on the Magic. See you all in a month! Woo hoo!

HI everyone!
Just wanted to post a quick note-getting so excited about the cruise!!!
We leave for WDW on Sep 4th for a week at Kidani-we originally planned on checking out on sat 12th and spending the night before the cruise at Hampton Inn (I think) in Port Canaveral-but just decided to spend the last night at All Star Sports-although we are debating if we should just stay one more night at Kidani and not have to switch hotels.....any thoughts?
We've rented a car-and we're returning it by the Port on Sunday before the cruise....
I am SO excited to get going already! Is it Sep 4th yet!?:dance3:

I just cleaned the carpet again- for the second time this week (the first time was just because it needed it!) It also figures that I washed all of the bedding today too- and will be doing that again tomorrow! :sad2:
I was planning on working on my FE's tonight!

THANKS FOR THE FE LIST!!!!!:banana::banana:

:thumbsup2
Hi Lisa...glad you made it in safely before the rain started. We had some rain after the downpour but nothing major. My daughter had a bunch of friends over...the rain didn't spoil their fun. You were in Wilmington....is that where you go to school? You mentioned Cape May...we live about 5 minutes from the Cape May/ Lewes Ferry ( the Delaware side). Looking forward to meeting you. Good luck on your quizzes. Take care :flower3:
I have been wondering too, why all the secrecy. On the dvcmembercruise website they have under "theme" that the 2008 theme is Disney Inspirations. Do they mean 2009, or are they telling us about last year? Anyone out there go last year, or know someone who did? I haven't seen any docs yet, either. I'm hoping I see them soon. Really looking forward to the cruise. It will be our second time on DCL, but we haven't cruised on Disney since 1998 on the Magic. See you all in a month! Woo hoo!
Hi....that was the theme to last years members cruise. My husband and I were there and we had so much fun. That was our first members cruise. I sure wish they would give us a hint...just a little one. Looking forward to meeting you. Take care:flower3:
HI everyone!
Just wanted to post a quick note-getting so excited about the cruise!!!
We leave for WDW on Sep 4th for a week at Kidani-we originally planned on checking out on sat 12th and spending the night before the cruise at Hampton Inn (I think) in Port Canaveral-but just decided to spend the last night at All Star Sports-although we are debating if we should just stay one more night at Kidani and not have to switch hotels.....any thoughts?
We've rented a car-and we're returning it by the Port on Sunday before the cruise....
I am SO excited to get going already! Is it Sep 4th yet!? :dance3:
Hi Perdie...Oh how I wish it was September 12...that's when my husband and I arrive in Orlando. We will be staying at the Boardwalk the night before the cruise. After the cruise we will be staying at Bay Lake Towers for a couple of days. I am looking forward to meeting you. Take care:flower3:
It's Thursday evening, I hope everyone had a great day.

Yea!! DSIL and DB, along with DBFF were all over tonight and we got all of the FE gifts for the kids all sorted out. The ones for the little guys are really cute - hope they like them.
Still working on the ones for the adults, but if they come out like we plan, I think everyone will like them.
We were concerned when we read that you couldn't send candy down to the ship prior to sailing. But then my DH had the bright light-bulb-going-on moment and said, well we're going to the resort first - let's just ship everything there and then we can just carry it on board the ship! Problem solved!!
I also completed the online check-in a few days ago and am very glad that I don't have to worry about that later!
Gosh, if I didn't know better, I'd say I was getting organized - and before the night before the cruise!!! :lmao:

Thanks everyone for the well wishes for my little pukey-guy. He was better today- not a tummy problem to be seen... the only thing that was left was a whiney problem, but that seems to go along with two and a half year old territory!
I am officially half way through making all of my FE gifts... yeah! :cool1: Maybe I will have them ready in time!!
I also did the online check in the other day... glad that is done!!

Good morning everyone - happy Friday!
I am so glad to have found Thread #3!!!! It is great to know there are so many folks excited about our cruise.
They sure are keeping a tight wrap on what is going to happen on this cruise...any thoughts? Or maybe it was already discussed here and I missed it. If that is the case, just tell me gently!!!!
Less than 30 days and I can't even stand it because I am so excited....
I don't think anyone other than DVC Marketing knows why they are keeping such a tight wrap on things. I hope it is because what they have planned is extra grand, but deep down I'm just not sure. I would think they would already be working on all the printing etc. so they must know the theme. :confused3
Has anyone received there package from the ship.
As others have said the packets usually come about 2 weeks before the cruise. If you have done the online check in all you really need are the luggage tags.
Woo hoo!
To me it is just laziness on DVC's part. That is the 2008 theme and has been up since before last years cruise. If they didn't want to give us a theme this year they should have just gotten rid of that button. :confused3
Hi! Well I completed the on-line checkin for the cruise tonight!:banana:

We haven't been there for a couple years and thought it may be fun. We are just going to play it by ear for now.

Good morning, everyone. It's Friday!
Flo, the FE chart is brilliant and so very helpful. Thank you so much :flower3: .
Mary, I hope you're feeling better; we are really hoping you get to enjoy this cruise to the max.
Well, we finally took advantage of the Cash for Clunkers and turned in our '97 Jeep for a '10 Corolla. It was too good an opportunity to pass up. The Jeep had over 260,000 miles on it and things kept breaking on it. (We went w/Toyota because of their reliability; our first Camry got 320,000 miles on it before we gave it away...and it was still running! We got the Jeep because DH HAD to have 4WD, which of course he never used :rotfl: .)

260,000 miles!!! WOW. I have a Corolla and I hope it lasts that long. You got a great deal!
Haven't been posting, too busy with the grandchildren and work. We are planning a swimming party for 3 of my grandtoddlers tomorrow...exciting stuff. I can't believe people make their own FE gifts. Where do you get the ideas? I would like to do that, but don't know what to make. I have been working on our plans before and after cruise, and on a trip I booked for my daughter and her family at BWV...and also we are going to DL two weeks after we get back from the cruise. And we have a trip in Dec with one of my daughters and her 2 year old and we are taking my granddaughter who is 4. My grandson just discovered Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and he lines up all of his "guys"...his Disney characters and loves to watch it. Hopefully he won't be as scared of the characters. He was terrified of the characters last year and this year when he saw the Easter bunny he went into shock!!! Bought a new camera, a Canon S10 and am getting a new Handycam to take with us. Was able to get into a free double stroller swap for Dec on the budget board, which makes me happy. Too much lugging two strollers on the plane and too expensive to rent those hard plastic things in WDW.
Happy Friday.
Thanks, Flo and thanks Mary for all that you have done to get us excited about the cruise. Now I just wish that DVC was as anxious about the cruise as we are!

Sue,
How about this. Send them to the Hotel because this way it does not put your suite case over. Then take a rolling suitcase with you as a carry on with things in it. Once at the hotel you could put what you carried on the plan in one of the big suitcase or you can even put it in the big one because it won't matter then. They don't weigh them again.

Thank you all for the kind wishes. I really do like the new car and feel like a queen (just too old to be a princess anymore), especially since the Jeep didn't have power windows or locks. Joanne,
DS has that cell phone thing in his steering wheel. He had them hook it up about a month after he bought the car. It is great. I have been in the car when he uses it. You just say the name or number then it repeats to you and askes if it is correct. I like the idea no head piece or you don't have to answer the phone it self. He also does not need a key for his car. I thought that was neet. To get in he just puts his finger on the handle, that is as long as he his the other part in his pocket.
Take care and have a great day.

It is a beautiful day here in So. MD. We have no weekend plans besides going to church tomorrow. We were supposed to be in NJ & Philly this weekend but I decided that I better stay home. I have been feeling  the past few days. So, we postponed the trip until the end of this month. One good thing is that I will be able to join the rest of you who will be watching the Wonder on the webcams tomorrow (if i remember:)).
I have been working on FE gifts. I am still fretting over what to do for the adults. I have finished the children's gifts. I have motivation to finish, though. My FE that I got from ebay arrived this week & I have it hanging up on the door leading to our basement. I have to pass it every day and I can see it when I assemble the FE gifts.
Everyone enjoy your day.

Ok I can not send the spray on sun screen since is flamable, and I can't pack it, so I must do without, I guess all just get some in the tube and forget it.
We will be working on the porch again today, you know a little at a time.:)
Its susposed to be hitting in the low 90's today. I would rather be at the State Fair.

I haven't been to a State Fair in such a long time. The last one I went to was the NJ State Fair at the Garden State Race Track which is now a mini-mall. I used to have a blast at the fair. Ohh the memories.

Thank you all for the kind wishes. I really do like the new car and feel like a queen (just too old to be a princess anymore), especially since the Jeep didn't have power windows or locks. I know, I'm spoiled. The coolest thing they've added to some cars now is a button on the steering wheel that lets you answer your cell phone without touching it. It comes through the radio. Pretty neat, huh? Now I just need to get a picture up...
When and by who????? :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

Joanne - congrats on the new car! Enjoy it for many years to come.
Thanks very much. DH's strategy over the years is to buy new (even though you pay a premium, we do so much driving it's worth it), be proactive w/the upkeep and maintenance, and drive them as long as they stay safe. So, I expect we'll have this one for a while. (The one we just got rid of was a '97; our Camry, which was the "new" car" until this week, is an '02.)
Joanne,
DS has that cell phone thing in his steering wheel.
Take care and have a great day.
flo

Mine isn't quite that sophisticated, but it's still pretty cool.
Congrats on the new car Joanne! :woohoo: Always love getting a new vehicle. But we are good for now here so it will be a long time before we get anything new.
We probably would have waited, but the Cash for Clunkers made it too tempting! It's fine as long as the vehicle runs well.
I think the cell phone thing sounds neat!
And yea, I guess you're right about the sleeping in thing! Just because I said that, I have been up off and on since 2:30 am with a migraine - just a mini one - but still - can you say karma!!! :hippie:
Sue, I hope you're feeling better by now. Migraines = BIG YUCK!
Good Morning Everyone!
Joanne, congratulations on the new car! DH really likes Toyotas. That is why we both have 2. After my Nissan Sentra broke down I had no choice but to join the Toyota family.
Sue, hope you are feeling better. Migranes are no fun.
Mary, how are you doing? Glad to see that if all goes well (and I know it will) you will be done with chemo before the cruise.

Oh my goodness! Do I remember the Garden State Race Track and the NJ State Fair. We used to go every year when it was there. I loved the Track. Had dinner a few times when they had that nice restaurant called the Phoenix Room. For anyone else who wouldn't know why that name was significant - it was because it was the restaurant on the top floor of the new Race Track because they had a fire that took the first one down.
I was even in the 4-H and we had the Camden County 4-H Fair there. It was a great event. But Marsha, I wouldn't call what they've built on the site a mini-mall. My goodness, It has every store you can imagine, and they are still building - it's huge!! I sure miss the old Track.

Thanks for all of the well wishes - you guys are really great! I'm feeling a little better. It's funny - when I get a migraine like this one, I feel terrible for the first while until I can take my meds. Then it seems to settle it down, but the slightest thing can make it flair up again. Being out at camp, it the fresh air can help. But then working around the kitchen and bending alot dragged me down again.
So I just made myself a cup of Earl Grey tea, and I'm going to relax - and hopefully chat with a few of you! :cutie:

The bad thing about that was I was supposed to be giving the directions and since I was crying to much I gave the DH the wrong diections and unfortunately the exit was 26 miles before we could turn around. Up! 52 miles in the WRONG direction. . .
Any way, now back to 2008 and DS graduates. So are you moving home and then . . . well umm I'm living in Philly. The sad thing is that I lost my little boy but returned as a grown man! I don't even remember when or how it happened; it just did!

Thanks for all the congrats yesterday on the pirate:. I was really surprised cuz the dis boards were being so slow and I couldn't get it to cooperate with me. But, I guess it worked out in the end. ;)
Went to Sam's yesterday and while in the store it started raining. And when we left, we got soaked! Then rained off and on the rest of the day. Today is to be no better. In fact, it is supposed to be worse! So, we have decided not to go to the State Fair. We don't want to be dodging thunderstorms all day, some which may be severe. The good thing is the Fair runs through next Sunday. So maybe next Saturday we will get to go.
Have a good trip Monika. I'm glad I still have a couple years before Becca goes off to college. She is only a jr in high school this year, which for me is so hard to believe :scared1:.
Oh, my, the news just came on and it said that hurricane season is starting up big time. There is Ana and Bill out there. One right behind the other. Hope the hurricane's take a break when we are sailing! :rolleyes1

She has no plans for college. We are trying to talk her in to starting at the community college here in town for two years to get her basic stuff out of the way, and she can live at home, then transfer to a university. She likes Iowa State because it is only about 30-45 minutes away from here. But it will depend on her major. Which she has no idea what she wants to do/be. Probably something to do with the arts.
And you are so right, we don't get older at all, just the kids grow up and catch us! :lmao:

Chris,
That is smart to take the basic stuff at a community college. Why pay $$$$ to get that done. THis way if she still is un decided it also gives her more time.

We had 3 in college at the same time (a pair of twins and an older daughter who couldn't decide what she wanted to do) and we did the same thing. They all did 2 years at the local CC and then went away for the remaining 2. It saved us a lot of $ and gave them a chance to see what interested them.

Hi Dan - so nice to see you here. We'll miss you this year but I know you are sailing with a great group and you never know what the future holds. I'm sailing next year with a group I first sailed with in 2004!
We are back from our big plans for the weekend. We went up to Milwaukee, WI for Irish Fest. Had a great time on both Friday and Saturday but both days left me exhausted. So instead of going to Mass at the fest and then spend a few hours there we just came home. We did get to see our favorite bands as well as a few new ones and got our fill of food (though I ate a lot less than normal). So all in all a good time but I'm glad to be home and I see a nap in my future.

Well I went to Walmart today to get another fold-up duffle bag to use for the cruise because I am considering packing 2 bags (my rolling duffle bag for the cruise and my fold up duffle bag for the days around the cruise). The new bad will allow me to pack a folding duffle bag in my cruise suit case just in case I need a second bag for all of my loot. :rolleyes1
Anyways, as I was looking at the folding duffle bags, what do I do? Well instead I pick out a new rolling duffle bag. It was only $30 more than the folding ones and I can wheel it! Gee, its amazing what I can justify. :rotfl2:
I'm still debating on which camera to take on the cruise. When we were flying, I had already made my decision to take my point and shoot. But now that we are driving, I keep debating whether I should bring my DSLR also.

Mary, I just saw your pictures on FB. It sounds like you had a great time. Which bands did you listen to?
We had a great time. As for bands:
Friday started with Blarney (our favorites and we've been seeing them for years). Great basic Irish Folk and they are a lot of fun.
Tommy Sands and his children. Again very good and this was our first time seeing them.
Red Hot Chilli Pipers - think Off Kilter but wilder. They have three master pipers and really kick it up. They were great but we could only stay for part of their show.
Brigid's Cross from Ohio. Another fun band we've seen a number of times.
Saturday we chilled into mid afternoon at the hotel and got there in time for Blarney's 3:15 show. This time the second half was with some friends from Canada and they were a riot. Turned a good Sea Shanty into a Snow Shanty that was very very funny.
We then saw Dargle from Ireland. They were good but we had to leave when their young groupies kept standing right by the stage and shaking their hips. :confused3
We ended the night watching part of a performance by DRUM! from Nova Scotia. I was pretty worn out by this time so we didn't stay for it all.
In between there were baked potatoes (mine with butter and Mark's with stew), roasted corn, lots of shopping, a visit to the cultural area, a visit with the Irish dogs and just all around having a good time.
PDFG and all our friends who need it.

Flo - the hotel you are talking about the Residence Inn by Marriott and that is where we stay. We love the secure underground parking and it is an easy walk over to the fest grounds (we take the bus back). We also like that fact that like DVC it has a kitchen and the rooms are huge. It started out as Gimbel's department store in the late 1800's, became Marshall Fields in the 1970's and then the Residence Inn in 2001.
We were lucky when we checked in that they not only had the underground parking (they sometimes run out and then you park off site) but also a river view room that gave us a beautiful view down Wisconsin Ave. to the museum.

Yea for we who are going parasailing!! I'm glad he's feeling so much better.
My congrats too.
I guess you are right. It is bigger than a mini-mall. My dad took me by there around Christmas last year and I was amazed at all the stores and restaurants they had.

Mary,
I like the idea of the security to. The underground parking is a plus. When we first started to stay there in 04 they did not have it yet for all guests. So we had to park in the one you are talking aobut. It is ok but the underground is better. I love to go to the book store to. They have a great breakfast to. The room are huge to. They one time gave us a one bedroom. We could have had Steven's whole baseball team and there parents in there. The staff is so nice to. I liked to look at the pictures on the wall to see how it used to look. Did you ever go over to the Grand Avenue mall. we would go but not at night.

Flo - the shirts are what the DIS group did for the 2006 cruise. The back had the logo I have on the website now with the Wonder in the background and the sand sculpture in front.
The lanyard is a gift from DVC that everyone gets at check-in. You can also see the DIS buttons that Mark makes as we wear ours on our lanyards (so we always have them and don't put holes in our clothes). :)

You sure can. Dh just loves it.
It calls for a baguette, but I use a vienna bread that we can get at the store and it works just great.
1 Baguette, cut into 1/2 inch thick slices
6 Fresh Plum Tomatoes
2 cloves garlic, minced as finley as possible
3 green onions sliced, (I just use purple onion that I have on hand chopped real small)
2 teaspoons Dried Basil or 2 Tablespoons Fresh Basil
3 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil - Plus more to brush on bread
Generous amount of freshly ground pepper and Salt
Preheat oven to 450. Brush both sides of bread with olive oil. Toast bread until bottoms are light brown. Turn over and continue toasting. Remove from oven when done and cool.
While bread is toasting, cut up the tomatoes into a fine dice. Remove the gloppy inside from them and discard. Put tomatoes in a bowl with onions, garlic, salt, basil and pepper. Stir to combine. Drizzle with the olive oil. Allow to sit for about an hour before serving.
Yummo!

Good. I'm glad I could share. I hope you like it as much as we do. It is a great Sunday afternoon snack. Especially when I use fresh stuff from the garden! Brooke also likes to sprinkle hers with parmesan cheese.

I made stuffed peppers and put in the freezer this morning. Fourteen of them so far. I still have a lot of peppers in the garden too! I also froze some sweet corn.
To bad about all the rain. I'm really bummed because they said it was to be stormy here all day so we didn't go to the State Fair, and guess what, it hasn't rained since 7:00 this morning! :confused3 Go figure. Oh, well, we got lots done around here instead. So, not a bad weekend at all. :flower3:

Hello Everyone!
Hope you all had a great weekend. Sounds like everyone was pretty busy.
After just reading through all the posts talking about food, I now need to go grab a snack. I will go get some mixed nuts. I am trying soooo hard to eat healthy foods and not eat junk food. I know it will be harder on vacation but that is how I convince myself now. I just tell myself to save my snacking for vacation. I also need to find time to exercise :yay: but the days are not long enough.
Well, I accomplished quite a bit this weekend. Spent Friday night into Saturday morning searching for material for my paper. Went to bed around 4:30 and then got up in the morning and headed in to the office. No one around and it was nice and quiet. I printed out all the material I found for my paper. Worked on that from about 9:45 - 2:15.
Headed home and then started cleaning. Had the house to myself. Turned up the stereo and got started. Did 4 loads of :laundy:, changed the linens on all the beds, cleaned under frig and stove, scrubbed counters, swept all the floors, cleaned the laundry room and the small bathroom, cleaned the filters and coils on the air cleaner that is connected to the air conditioner/heater unit, and lots more.
Today I went to Walmart to get some things for the trip then came home and picked out and washed most of the kids clothes for the trip. Ironed all the clothes and put the outfits together. I , like Mary, use the Ziploc bags to pack outfits. It is great!!!
So, most of the kids clothes are packed and ready to go. DD packed all the bags in our new rolling duffle bag. We still need to get our regular suitcase down but for now they are at least not all piled up all over the floor.
Once that was done, DD and I got all the FE kids bags out that I had already done and we worked on those. Pretty much went back through them and redid them. So, we are officially done the kids FE bags. Yikes! The storage box is packed to the top. It might cost me a fortune to ship this stuff. I have to think about this. Let's see..if we use 2 suitcases for our things and then a 3rd one for this stuff it will cost me $15 to check the 3rd bag. So, when all is said and done if shipping is under $15 then that would make sense to ship. Can you tell I am tired....I am rambling on and on.
I did buy the Purex sheets. Have not tried them though.
I found the lip balm with SPF 45. Thanks for that tip Mary. I would not have thought of it.
Sorry that I missed the sail away party today. I wish I had remembered because DD and I were in my bedroom working on all this stuff and it would have been fun to show her the boat. Darn. Maybe next week.
Well, I have to get to bed. Meetings with the auditors all week. :scared1: No, it's not too bad actually. And, no need for the mixed nuts now. The hunger pains passed...well, sort of passed.
Have a great Monday. Hope all those that were not feeling are better on Monday.

Good Monday morning everyone!
Would you believe we were invited to a last minute pool party again??? Another one of my aunt called right before lunch yesterday to go to her house for a bit of time in the pool & a bbq..we had a great time!
The kids and I both thought about the fact that we were missing seeing the boat again! At least it's only 4 weeks away now!
We'll try to watch the webcams next sunday again :)
Have a great week everyone :cool2:

I feel like I must be the only one that isn't packed yet! :rotfl:
We need our summer clothes still...so the packing won't happen until just a few days before the trip. We are driving down but we'll still be packing light, I figured that I can do a couple of loads of laundry at Vero Beach after the cruise. :laundy:

Don't feel that way Alex, as I have said before I am a well known late packer. After following along on this thread it does seem like everyone is packed and ready though. I feel i should at least pull out a suitcase to fit in...LOL

Good Morning Everyone.
Getting ready to go to work. I wish I had another day off. It was a very nice weekend and now I could use a day of rest.
Alex and Dave - don't worry I'm not packed either. My DH is, but no, not me. I don't pack until the week we leave. Mainly because I'm still wearing the shorts outfits I will be taking with me so I can't pack them.
I hope all that try my bruschetta recipe enjoy it. It really is yummy.
