What better way to celebrate getting one's life back than a trip to Disney! Originally wanted to go with my ex but he always pooh..poohed the idea (pardon the pun).
So....I made plans with my best friend to go in 2003. I'm also going in 2002 but with Family.
So...as a aging, once again single (but happy) 30 something year old....I'm excited for my trip!
Sorry...just had to toot my freedom horn!

I'm planning a trip for my big 3-0. Ugh!

Have a great time. 30 was one of my favorite birthdays, I'm a couple of decades past that now, though. Age is all a matter of attitude :)

Good for you!!
The year I turned 30 was the best year in my life, all kinds of exciting things happened.
It was also the year I went to Disney for the very first time in my life. Been happily hooked ever since. ;)

I'm in sorta the same boat. My so-called BF isn't all that interested in going to WDW. How can I have a BF that won't go to WDW? (PS...I'll be turning 30 in a couple of weeks)
I'm sure you'll have a fantastic time! Have fun!

Just wanted to say hi and thanks for the messages!
I can't wait to go....sounds like everyone has been having a great time.
To Mike: no...I don't pin collect...maybe I'll get into it when I get down there. I don't know much about it...so I'll head to the threads that talk about it and learn more about it. Hope you enjoy Hbg! It's hot as heck here right now...but lots of fun stuff going on near the river. Good way to keep cool.
And all happiness to you on your upcoming wedding! You picked a great honeymoon spot!!

Last fall I planned my "big trip" down to Key West for a convention. I had planned on staying a few extra days as I was
turning 50 that week. Well, dear ol' hurricane Michelle decided to chase us out of town early. But I wasn't going to let that spoil my big day! I called WDW and got ressies at CBR. Instead of sitting by the ocean with my cd player listening to Peter Mayer singing "Susannah When The Sun Goes Down" on my 50th BD, I sat at CBR
and watched the sunset after running around the MK all day! I'll tell you, life was good! I ate ice cream when I wanted. I didn't have to
share my popcorn! It was so much fun, I'm planning on doing it again this year! ;)

I hope you have a great 51 this year at Disney!
I wish for you a big bucket of popcorn and a big ol' ice cream cone!
Enjoy!

Hmmm...would you like to meet a single 30 year old guy?
You live in Central PA...hmmm...I need an excuse to visit Hersheypark and Kennywood again...hmmm... :)
Mlissa88
07-14-2002, 01:24 PM
Stop teasing! :) Central PA is a great place to visit though... I can see the Hershey Park fireworks from my back yard. Been there many a time. It's become a bit toooooooo big for me to enjoy anymore. At least in Disney..during the off season you can find some privacy. At HP it's a madhouse all of the time.
Never been to Kennywood though I hear it's fun. Lots of cool coasters
I'm now in the "ex-girlfriend" club for a while...till I adjust. If you are around disney in Oct/Nov of 2003 maybe we (my best "single" friend) and I could meet you at Downtown Disney one night;)

My ex didn't like disney. What kind of guy would not like Disney???? It should have been a "red flag" right away. LOL.
Making plans for disney is now my way of asserting my freedom!
Thanks for the support!
Who knows...you might see me on one of those commercials where the voice says "Mlissa88...you just dumped your boyfriend...what are you going to do now?"
At which time I'll slap on a pair of mouse ears and yell with a big smile: "IM GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!"

You're making me step onto Disney property? Ewww... :) No really, I'll probably renew my Disney AP or at least have a park hopper pass, so I'll be around. Besides, I go in October anyway for Universal's Halloween Horror Nights.
Now is your best friend single, female, cute, and likes roller coasters? :jester:
Mlissa88
07-14-2002, 10:51 PM
Well Barry...she sure is. lol. She's all of those.
What can you tell us about Universal's Halloween stuff? We'd really be into that!

You might even want to spend a day or two at Universal! :)
Mlissa88

So how many days would you say we should spend at Universal for the Halloween stuff? Can you see it in one night?

You can do that if you stay from like 5:30 to closing (2 am). I suggest hitting the haunted houses at 5:30. You'll be done by around 7:30, when the lines start getting long.

Can you tell me out of all of the places that you stayed...which was your favorite?

I really like the studios at VWL - but the 1-bedroom (they have a whirlpool tub) are even better - next would probably be OKW - their 1-bedroom is bigger than my condo at home - I haven't stayed in the new BCV so I can't say anything about them. All HAFH have at least a microwave and under the counter refrigerator - the 1-bed and up have a full kitchen, with a washer and dryer.
now if you want a hotel not a home-away-from-home - it would probably be the Polyn (for the MK), and the BC (for epcot/studios) - they are just so nice to take either the monrail, boat, or walk to the parks.
If you want a moderate - I really love the POR - the boat to DD is great, the food court is pretty nice, the arcade is second only to Cont, and I really love all the quiet pools. but sometimes the 2 double beds just aren't big enough for me and my guests.
If you want to stay in a DVC resort (Home-away-from-home) you can rent points on this site from a DVC member (sorry I don't rent mind). just go to the DVC rental/trade board - read Doc'sFAQ first.

:bounce: Good for you. I am going through a similiar situation as yourself. I just turned 30 and will be single again after a long time. This July I went to WL with my family and spent some time alone also to see if I would like to come back by myself. I do plan on coming back in December by myself.
When I went back this time I wasn,t sure how it would be without her but I was ok. Basically don,t let someone take something away from you that you enjoyed doing. GO and enjoy yourself.

It's tough. No doubt about it. But when you know it's for the best, you can find some peace in it.
And speaking of peaceful...when I was at WL (when I just turned 30) I wandered around the pool and trouts pass at night...just watching the lake. I enjoyed it. I loved sitting on the lounge chairs by the boat dock (by VWL) at night. So relaxing I could have probably slept there.
You will have a wonderful time as well. Thanks for your kind words of encourgagment.
One day we'll both have someone special to enjoy it with...again.

I hear ya!!
I'm single again too (thirty something) and wonder if I'll ever met a total coaster nut that wants to spend TONS of QUALITY time at the parks with me. I'm actually excited about going on a solo trip. I've gone with just friends before but no one has the time, money, or passion that I do, to go as often as I would like. So it's time to go solo!! I say dump the bump and enjoy the need for speed... hehehe ok that was kinda strange, but I think you get the point...

Howdy, Mlissa88!
Sounds like you're going to be down there about the same time I'm planning for (I plan on arriving 11/29 and leaving 12/8).
This will be my 3rd solo trip. I have been going the first or second week of Dec. because of the lighter crowd, the warm weather, and (of course) the Christmas decorations! While I avoided sit-down restaurants for the most part on my first trip, last year I ate dinner in several sit-down restaurants. I do feel a little hesitant about getting on some rides as a solo, but generally after the first day or two, those fears are gone.
My recommendation: Relax, forget your troubles, and have fun!
I hope you have a great time! :bounce:

sometimes the people arent real pleasant around here but Ive lived here since I was like 13 (other than the time in college) so am used to it. & I work in retail managing a store so lots of people contact. Havent seen Hershey for years. Hope if the Co gets sold it doesnt go downhill.
still debating my trip in Sept...hopefully but

Old man Hershey must be rolling over in his grave right now with all this talk of selling. I hope it doesn't go through. Gosh...don't know how they could be doing badly...my candy purchases should keep them in business for another year or so...
We'll see though...
Why are you debating your trip?

Hey Mlissa88, I finally went to Hersheypark and it was so cool! I loved Lightning Racer.
So if Nestie buys Hershey, will it become Nestiepark?
And please post a photo of your single friend. :)
