Our group will consist of myself, my mother, and my children ages 4 and 8. I had initially budgeted $25-$30 for each counter-service meal; however, none of us are big eaters, and given other comments on these boards, we may be able to save some money by ordering fewer than 4 entrees and splitting them amongst ourselves. With that in mind, can I safely lower that estimate?
(OK, OK, so I also booked 4 character meals and am going to have to scrimp elsewhere to make up for it! Oh well, it's their first trip and every cent will be well worth it!)

If you mean 25- 30 for each MEAL I'd say you are probably right on the money for counter service.
For some meals you might get away with a little less, especially if you don't all have drinks. I would also suggest the children split a regular meal, as I found the childrens meals were not enough 'stuff'. The cookies or chips did not replace the fries for my DD and she picked at her father's.
I think 3 adult meals will probably serve you well. Your budget should allow for a snack here and there as well.

Yes, dd (l8) and I split meals all the time.
We usually buy l large drink (only a little more cost), split a sandwich and each have a soup or side salad.
Uusually comes to around $l5.

I generally budget about $100/day for myself, DH and DS (7). We usually eat breakfast in the food court and have one counter service and one big meal a day. Some days we spend less, some more but in the end it usually adds up to a little less than what I budget for...but it's better to have extra than not enough. Me and DH get full size entrees and DS gets a kid's meal which are around $5-6.00, however we aren't big dessert eaters or snackers so you may want to adjust your budget a little if you are. I can't imagine you should spend much more than $100/day though with 1 extra kids meal, maybe $115-120/day.
