View Full Version : Best resort for January

I am planning a January trip and am having difficulty deciding on resorts. I have never stayed on property before and have never gone in the colder part of the year. I am on a budget so thought Santa Fe would be great for me - but somehow the "desert" theme just isn't doing it for me when I think about cold weather. So now I am considering Sequoia Lodge because it seems so "cozy" in the cold. I will probably like having a lounge with a fire place, a pool - but wonder if it is really worth the extra money.
Any thoughts on these two resorts during January?

Hi there!!
I've done Santa Fe in the snow and I don't know any different so it suits us fine!!:) Its the furthest away hotel from the parks but it honestly didn't bother us...being on a budget also you just have to get on with it and for the amount of time we spent in there I was glad I didn't spent more on another hotel!
By the way it does get VERY cold sometimes so you seriously need thermals etc!

The Santa Fe has really comfy beds and the Mexican themeing makes the bedrooms feel nice and warm..certainly odd when there is snow outside.
The Sequia Lodge is rather more wintery just because of the amount of wood in the hotel...the fire is lovely but would you ever get the chance to sit round it?
The Davy Crockett Ranch is lovely in the winter...it's a cross between the two but only accesable if driving.
Personally if I was to go in January I'd probably only stay in the Disneyland Hotel as it's so close to the parks you could just pop back in to warm up, and it get's very, very cold in DLRP in January.

Yep we stayed at Santa Fe in January and it was fine for us. We walked there and back and although yes it was cold it didn't make any difference to us!
We hardly spend anytime at the hotel or room anyway so doesn't bother us where we stay.

Thanks for the replies. I am feeling a bit better about the Santa Fe in the winter now. I would absolutely love to stay at the Disneyland Hotel but don't have that much money to spend on this trip! Maybe if I save up awhile.
