Under a celiac, gluten-free thread with restaurant reviews (http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2245254), the discussion turned toward praising some of the Disney Chefs for their outstanding job in catering to special dietary needs.
Does anyone ever tip a Chef in addition to tipping the wait staff, and if so, how much? OR, do you simply leave more for the wait staff?
Hope this isn't too silly of a question! :upsidedow:scratchin

It's not a silly question at all. The chefs are AMAZING and are part of the reason that we continue to vacaton at WDW! That being said, it hasn't occurred to me to tip the chefs. We've certainly made a point of emailing Disney to praise outstanding chefs but tipping them just hasn't been something that I thought of.

It will be interesting to see what others have to say about it. I'm wondering if the protocol might be to do just as you mention: promote.

No tipping. It's part of their job. Lots of thank-you's and praise is enough.

We usually give them little thank you notes. I found them here on the Dis a while back. There's a character on the front with a little thank you saying and our family's name. Then on the back I have my daughters usually write a little saying. We do this with anyone else we think should get one too. Teaches my kids to be thankful and fun too!

I never really thought about tipping the chef, but I did send an email to Disney as well as POP telling them each place we ate and the chef's name (if I could remember it) and how wonderful it was to be able to eat there with my food allergy twins.

We also thank them and send a small note; although I like the idea of using personalized ones; I'll have to try that next time!

My son was recently diagnosed with a peanut allergy, and while I have it marked on our ADRs about it I had never thought of an extra tip for the chef or a note. :thumbsup
Can someone give me an example of what their note said?
