View Full Version : I've had better weekends

Ok. I must be stressing big time. I've been off anti anxiety pills for quite a while now, but after this weekend, I could have used some.

We've been saving money to buy a house. This house to be exact (http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/11312-Dalron-Drive_Dallas_TX_75218_1110813444). We put an offer on it, but the seller didn't want to wait a few weeks to switch it from a convention to FHA. We're already approved for FHA and have the amount needed for down payment. It's the perfect home for us. The seller freaked and said no, that they wanted to close quickly so they took a conventional offer. We were heartbroken.

Last week, found out that the conv deal fell through. Positive thinking works on our end it seems. They contacted our agent and wants to work with us due to the reputation of our agent. He's quite well known. Now we're back in the process of getting our hopes up again. Seller still wants to wait to see if another conv deal will come through before he switches it to FHA for us on August 23rd. Waiting is killing us.

SO this weekend we decide to go have fun. Bear Pool Party on Saturday. Not there 5 minutes, before Steven jumps in the pool. With his iphone in his pocket. Ruined the party for us. That's $400 we now have to shell out for a new one.

Then that night we had tickets to see Lisa Lampinelli. Stupid me printed off last years tickets. Saw we had ordered four of them (which we thought was odd) so we call two friends to go with. Get to the theater. Tickets don't work. Then we noticed they're from Friday in April of last year. Friends are laughing it off. I'm freaking out. We go back home, find the current tickets. We get all the way back with one minute to spare. Or so we thought.

The time of the show was at 7pm. We thought it was 8pm. We missed the show, $80 down the drain.

Our DL trip can't get here fast enough. The scary thing is that we'll "hopefully" be closing on our house a day or two before we leave for DL, if not a few days after we get back.

Ok, I'm done venting.......

:hug:Think of it as having used up all your bad luck this weekend so now you will have only good luck for the closing:goodvibes

About the phone: DO NOT TURN IT ON! Open it all up--take battery out. Leave it to dry for several days (UGH! TExas humidty--after a couple of days you can put it in the oven on the lowest possible setting (125?:confused3) for an hour to help dry it further. Then still leave it another day). When it has had three times longer to dry than you think it can possibly need put it back together and turn it on. This has worked for us and for many, many friends. It is worth a shot.

Take a deep breath!

I'm sorry you've had a bad weekend (and yes I followed along with most of it on FB.)

Things will work out all right in the end. I know the waiting is the worst part, but once it's done, you'll be in your new home (which is awesome, by the way, and nice part of town!:thumbsup2)

Focus on your trip and the things that are going well, and that'll get you through the tough parts.

And vent here as you need to. That's what we're here for.

Sometimes weekends just aren't worth it. I agree that this just means all the bad mojo has already worked itself out, and there will be smooth sailing from here on in! The seller need to take a serious look around...the Universe is clearly sending him all the right signals.

Good luck with all of the resolutions to a rather eventful weekend. At least the regular week will seem like child's play.

Agreeing with mthrash that the seller is nutty if s/he is not estatic to have a good offer from YOU who are preapproved and everything just becuase it has tp convernt to an FHA. I would be dancing in the streets for an offer like that on our place in NH. Seller seems to be confused about the current state of the housing market:confused3

I think you'll get the house. I really, really do:goodvibes

Awww.... sorry your weekend was so crappy...

The seller apparently needs a good shakin' (I will never understand shaking baby syndrome, but I have NO PROBLEM understanding shaking adult syndrome)...

That is a beautiful home! Good luck! I hope it all works out! :flower3:

I know! I am so jealous!

Around here that would be an easy 275,000 - 300,000... I would so need to leave the Northeast if I wanted to buy another house (my four family cost $135,000 in 1998, would now be well over 300,000)... I was at a clamboil this weekend where the neighbors house was for sale... .25 acre of land (generous guess) with a Quonset Hut on it on a pond... going for 350,000....

Thanks everyone. We were going to wait and buy him a phone and see if we could fix his old one, but he really can't be without a phone so we broke down and bought a new one. I swear the old one will start working in a week or so.

And yes, there are tons of houses for that price in Dallas. The price of a home in Dallas has always been reasonable. It's why we've had so many east and west coast transplants sell their homes for a huge profit and move to Dallas and buy something for a quarter of the price. :) Friends of ours have a house they paid 180K, 2200 sq ft and a huge pool. Perfect condition.

I just haven't had those panic attacks in a long time. I forgot how much they suck. That feeling of needing to go outside and just run.

Best wishes for a successful closing. The place looks amazing. Buying a home is one of the most stressful events of your life and then it was compounded with other stressful events!! Breathe!!! Not too much though - then you will just hyperventilate and we don't want that. Once this is all done and you are settled in your new home you will laugh at what led up to your closing - OK, maybe not laugh but you'll be glad it's over. Enjoy!!!

Sorry you had a bad weekend, your now due for some good karma.

I too washed my cell phone and was so irritated I had to get a new one, but luckily I was available for a new contract, phone promotion offer. Now I constantly check my pockets whenever I do laundry, swim in a pool or the ocean.

The house your trying to get is really nice, I hope you guys get it. I am always looking myself for something nice like that, but in the Orlando area.

Best of Luck !

Thanks! We've actually decided against that house due to small bedrooms and no storage. We were so caught up in how beautiful it was, that we didn't pay attention. Our other choice, we're putting in an offer this weekend. It's 2400 sq feet, 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bathrooms, two living rooms, huge landscaped yard, and enormous attic storage. And 20K less! We hit the jackpot with this one.

House buying seems so exciting. My friend was reading a book called "House Buying For Dummies" and now I want to start saving for a house. And your prices are SO low. Here houses are...well, NOT selling, for upwards of 1 mil. Absolutely disgusting! Hope it all works out!!!

We came in with a lower offer then asking and they took the bait.
They counteroffered slightly with lower seller paid closing costs, so we just upped the sales price we offered the same amount.

Which we're told they'll accept.

Yeah I hate that part, but it's necessary. Luckily, our Agent gives us a Home Depot Book, gift card and a bottle of champagne at closing. :) I know because I closed a condo with him before. He's one of the best.

And as far as the American flag is concerned, maybe we'll replace it with a Gay flag. :) Big one.
