Renting an RV??

My boyfriend and I have 3 dogs. We were thinking about driving down to Disney, renting an RV in Orlando and then staying at Fort Wilderness. We are hoping that this would save us the money on a kennel (and save us from worrying about the puppies!).

Is this a completely crazy idea? We figure that if we rent the RV in Orlando, we would save the "mileage fees" usually associated with renting.

Do you think this would work?

You can rent an RV and they will deliver and setup it up at FW for you.

Camping at the Fort* is the first that comes mind.

Just beware that they may not allow pets whether or not you pick it up yourself.

Close....its actually www.CampAtTheFort.com .......hmmm, Im not sure if they allow pets or not. I tend to think that they DONT allow pets,but you'd haveto contact her to be sure. You can also check with www.******************** to see if they allow pets...I think it may be rough find a company that will allow pets without a hefty deposit....but this is just my opinion...I really dont know for certain.

I think Tina allows pet at www.campatthefort.com but I believe it's a $250 deposit. ******************** doesn't allow pets at all. Hope this helps.

I wouldn't say it is completely crazy, but it might not work out very well for you in the end. Have your dogs gone camping before? Have they ever been in an rv or left alone in an rv for any period of time?

RVs are far more fragile than a home. The inside of the doors have screens all the way down at dog level, and there is carpet and trim and all kinds of things for dogs to dig at, tear at and generally mess up. Even little dogs can get a bit bonkers left alone in a strange vehicle for a short time, let alone the amount of time you may be out and about in the parks.

Even though I own my RV and take my dogs camping frequently, I don't take them anyplace where I won't be at the campsite most of the time, or where I can't take the dogs with me when I leave the campsite. My dogs just don't do well left alone in the rig and since I have big guys, crating them while I'm gone isn't an option for space issues (and I don't crate my dogs anyway after they are little pups).
