I'm not sure how this works if you leave a credit card to cover expenses when you check in. Should I have the Dining Plan on one Key and the credit card on another, or would there be a chance my credit card would get charged instead of my credits being used? Has anyone ever had a problem with this? What is the best way to handle this so that I don't get charged for food that should be included in the Dining Plan?

When you do reservations and when you come to restaurant and before you pay, let them know you are on DP.
You may leave your credit card information at check in but not connect it to your room key, it is up to you.
You may ask them if you can put DP credits and credit card on different room keys, but I think DP credits are available from every room key.

all room keys will have the dining credits. We have always put a credit card on the room so we can charge tips, adult beverages, etc to the room and just use the KTTW card for everything - nice to not mess around with two cards in the parks. Have never had the wrong "card" charged...meals always came off the Dining plan, everything else always charged correctly to the room. We always check the bill before signing, of course but have never had to have a dining bill corrected. I think it is possible to have no charging privileges put on children's room cards so they can access their meal credits but not charge things to the room. Don't know if you can do that on adult's cards, though.
I have read that some people have had this issue...think they must have had inexperienced server or just bad luck. In 5 trips in last 2.5 years, never had an issues in dozens of meal experiences.

We've been on 4 trips with the DDP, all 8+ nights and have only had an issue with this happening once. Normally, I check the bottom of my receipt right away to check whether we have the correct number of credits remaining. The one time I didn't check is when we were charged for the meal. I took my receipt and KTTW card to the concierge desk at my resort, explained what happened, and it was taken care of in less than 3 minutes. It was not a big deal at all.

Hi! This is going to be my first time using the dining plan and I have been trying to catch up reading everything. I am a bit confused on this. When you say that you have a credit card charged to the room so that you can put tips, etc on it, is that to the KTTW card? I know that the KTTW has a $1000
for you to use. I guess I got confused when you say that the dining plan cards and the credit cards were different. Thanks!:surfweb:

To be allowed to charge items to your room using the KTTW card you have to give them a credit card # when you check in (or use the one "on file" if you're a frequent visitor.) The credit card # guarantees that the hotel will be able to get paid for any outstanding bill you leave when you check out (and actually allows for express check outs...you don't have to go to the desk to settle up when you leave because they will just bill your credit card for anything you've charged like room service, internet fees, etc.)
You can go to the front desk & pay your outstanding bill in cash, or they will just put all your "room charges" on the credit card on file. That $1000 limit allowed to the room charge means that once you have $1000 charged to the room you either have to go pay it in cash or have them bill it to your credit card at that point...or no more room charges if you're waiting until you check out to pay cash for the bill. YOu will not be allowed any charges to your room at all if they do not have a credit card "on file".
Clear as mud, right?:rotfl:

We had problems 2 years ago so last year when we were using the DDP we presented my ds's card which did not have charging priviliges and paid for tips with cash.

We had charging privileges put on my card, DH and DD - 18. We did not have them put on our DS - 15 card. We always used DS card so we never had a problem with a charge for dining.
We also checked the receipt each time anyway.
As far as charging privileges....I wanted to pay for them in cash, but when I woke up on the day of our departure....they were already charged to my credit card. It was not a big deal .... but if you really don't want those charges to be put on your card....I'd pay for them in cash the DAY before you leave.

Definitely true...we were told they actually bill the credit cards before 6:00 a.m...when the system updates. So we always ask for an itemized bill on the night before check out...that way any errors can be fixed before they roll it onto the credit card. In all our trips, never had an error with restaurants...in fact the only time we ever had an issue was with valet parking...we paid cash for the parking & tip one time and then they actually billed our room for the full amount. POFQ removed the charge, no question - said that had happened often with the valet company (they contract out for valet services, apparently.)
