I think what occurs is they will re-book your trip for you with the room and the discount you used. My memory isn't what is use to be anymore, and I cannot remember what happened 3 years ago. So in short, yes you can book currently then later on re-book with the new discounts.

We are also planning on a trip in May 2010. I have a question though about the dining plan with last year's 4+3 deal. I know it included the tickets (i.e. 3 days free of park tickets), but what about if you want the meal plan? If you purchase it for the 4 days do you get the other three free?

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this. I wasn't sure. :confused3

It's going to be a blast-- our party includes myself, DH, DD3, DSis 13, and DSisBFF 13, and has been a long time coming!-- I haven't been to Disney since 2000 (since 1997 for DH, and FIRST trip EVER for DD3 and DSisBFF!). Oh....and a dumb question, how does the 4/3 work if you have 10 nights reserved? :)
I believe they have rarely had free dining in April. If they did have it, it was via a pin code or bounceback offer. The Free Dining period has been traditionally late August until September/October. This year it was extended until December, but I wouldn't expect that to be the norm. I had a pin code for free dining that could be used this past May, but I couldn't use it.

As for Buy 4 get 3 free. From what I read, if you stayed beyond 7 days the following days were a percent off. So, if you stayed 10 days, you paid for 4 days, got 3 free and then there was a percent off of the next three days. I forget what the percentage was but I want to say it was between 25-35% off.

when do you think the codes will be out for may?

I was looking at the historical information about when codes have come out and last year the 7 for 4 deal came out the first week of November..so I would keep an eye out.

If anyone is interested, here is the link on MouseSavers to see the historical release of dates:

There was not a percentage off for extra days. I'm positive about that. We stayed 9 nights. We got 3 free.

Its 3 free and that's all no matter how long you stayed over 7 days. That's why a lot of people who wanted to stay 2 weeks did two separate reservations. So they stayed 7 days and got 3 free. Changed reservations and stayed another 7 days and got 3 of those days free.

I'm hoping for 5/22 to 5/29 here, the kids get out of school 5/21, and May is still not too incredibly hot like june and july and august.

I will book a bounceback offer if I get one, but I am sure there will be passholder rates coming out, probably in February.

Hopefully I will NOT get the Historic Week of Rain next year like I did this year!

I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some sort of deal. DH won't let me officially book until there is a deal out. Grrr!

We will be staying at AKL from 5/23 to 5/29 or 5/30 (depending on the deal).

I'm already 80% planned, I just have to wait until hours and ADR's come out to finish up.

Oh yeah, and make DH happy by waiting for a deal (even though we are going to go no matter what). We missed this year and I can't wait to get back!

I'm looking to book a week at WDW sometime in late April or Early May of next year for our 10th anniversary (we did our Honeymoon at the Yacht Club but haven't been able to get back since). We haven't booked yet, I was waiting for the 4/3 or 5/7 deal to come out for that time frame.

It seems like most people in this thread book BEFORE they have promotional discounts or codes and just hope one shows up so they can rebook? Is this to ensure that you get the specific accomodations you want? Are there any issues with deposits or change fees with this approach?

I ask because we'll be bringing our two little ones and MAYBE my wife's parents depending on the kind of discounts we can get, but basically we'll be looking for the best value we can get in a price range. So if we can get the 4/3 deal maybe we splurge on the Poly, but if not, we'd probably end up doing something cheaper, etc.

And if we can't get a deal for those times, we may even consider waiting until later in the summer (our *actual* anniversary is in August, but we'd be doing an early celebration for the kids' sake) if we could get the free dining.

What's the best approach with this? It's been a decade since I booked with Disney :)

I'm new to the DIS. But am so glad to find a place where people love Disney as much as I do.:woohoo:

I haven't booked yet but would like to book for May 15 to May 22, 2010. That's my birthday week and I've always wanted to celebrate it at Disney. I hope that they offer a great room only discount (planning to get the Annual Pass because I also want to go back at the end of August, early September.) :worship: Looking forward to the Flowers and Garden Festival.

Planning our 4th trip May 22nd-30th, wouldn't a code be just awesome :woohoo:

So with the discount codes, does it usually not matter which resort you stay at, or is it just whatever discount they're offering at the time?

I would like to know the answer to this too, if anyone has experience in having done this in previous years, ie- booking a room only or a package, and then applying a promotion to it later on, like the 4/3 deal. We are already booked for the Yacht Club May 16-23, 2010 because there are very few rooms that are in our desired category (Concierge level, lagoon view for 4 people). So we always book early to secure our room type…right now we just have room only but are hoping to upgrade to a package if the 4/3 comes out, keeping my fingers crossed! Has anyone done this before? Was it easy, or did you have to cancel and rebook?

May 1-8, Poly.

Haven't booked yet- waiting on a code or a deal.

I've never been successful at the "Book before a deal comes out and apply the code at a later date" game.:confused3 Anytime I have tried this, they always tell me the rooms allotted for the deal have been sold out so they've had to cancel the ressie and I've had to switch resorts.

This time- we're hoping for a code and the Poly.:goodvibes

We booked AKL Cl with the 4/3 last year, but we couldn't book it right away with the deal.

We had a room only that we changed over to a package when rates came out. When the 4/3 was announced, we weren't able to change it over to the 4/3 because no CL rooms were available with the deal. A few weeks later, one opened up so we were apply to apply the pin.

It really just depends on availability.

We were hoping for a pin before we booked, but it looks like we are going to have to book in the next few weeks without a pin or package deal so we can book our dining when it switches over to 180 days.

We were planning on May 2-10 at Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Is there room for me?? ;)
I'm in with the rest of you, last time we went as family was May 2007.
I'm planning sons graduation trip/celebration for May 18th-28th, looks like there will be a few of us there at the same time. :yay:
Is there a strong possibility for a code at the POP? :confused3
I love that I have so many to share this wait with.

Newbie here. We are going May 2-9 and are booked for POR. Would LOVE a 4/3 extension or any deal, really. Does much time ever go by when they don't offer some type of special?

On a side note, anyone who has been in early May know what the crowds are like? Wait times?

It dosn't seem like there has been much time between deals recently. I'm
sure everyone waiting is going to get something, at least I hope you do.

We went in early May of '08 and the crowds were manageable. It got busy in the afternoons because of school groups, but we still had decent wait times.

I booked in April 2009 for May 2009 and was able to get the 4/3 deal. Waiting for it again in 2010!

A friend told me they will most likely extend it past March like they did this year...I hope they do because we got to stay at the GF and now I'm SPOILED but the only way I can (legally :rotfl:) afford to go back is if they offer that deal!

So....if I WOULD book a package now, and they offer this 4/3 later, can I apply it? I'm afraid to do that becasue I need the air transportation and what if they make me cancel and re-book? I'm anxious to get it locked in but would HATE to not be able to apply the savings (kind of like buying a car and then you see it 3 months later at $3000 off!)

This is seriously keeping me up at night. Do you recommend booking or waiting?

I'm so thrilled to have found this board! :goodvibes

My family was originally going in February, but wanted my brother to be able to join us for part of the trip, so now we're going May 10-17, celebrating my high school graduation and birthday. Hoping for the 4/3 deal so we can splurge on a deluxe. If not, it's okay, as I keep reading good things about POR, our resort of choice!

We're booking through AAA. My brother will be staying with us the last two nights of the trip, and we asked our travel agent if we'd have to pay anymore for him to spend those last couple of nights with us. She said we would not. We're also doing the DDP; do we pay for him the last two days? Should we just pay out of pocket for him? Thought I'd ask other DISers if they had any experience with this.

I am THRILLED to report I received an email with a "Pinned" offer that worked out just as good as buy 4 get 3 free! It's for stays Jan-June. I'm on Disney's email list, so maybe that's how I got it - so I am beyond excited to say that we're IN for May!!

I got the 30/35/40 pin last week as well! We were originally booked on a AAA package at POP. We were able to move over to POFQ with the pin code for 10dollars more than our POP AAA package. This thrilled my mom as this is the resort she really wanted to stay at but we couldn't justify the extra money for a mod when we booked initially. BTW, we're going May 6 - 14

Well, finally got the 30/35/40 PIN I've been waiting for so we'll be booking 2 rooms at the Poly for May. I just signed up on Disney's website, did some of the trip planner types of things -- pricing vacations, requesting the DVD, and making our own custom park maps (basically feeding their computers lots of data about our trip) and the code came via email the other night.

I'd say probably a month turnaround, tops. We've been to Disney before but I'm quite certain they never had my email address.

Now the question is, garden view or lagoon view? :rolleyes1

I hate that I just got the code and the resort we wanted is already filled for 30/35/40 pin I just got yesterday!!! :headache:
What's the deal?!?

When I spoke with the CM about normal rates, and then with the pin rates, the CM said the only resorts left for this pin were one's I wouldn't even consider. (I know I sound like a snob) I then said that I had only just got the pin yesterday, how did they fill so fast?!? She said the code had been out for two weeks! How did it happen that I got them just yesterday, she said it's all in how Marketing sends them out!! I'm so frustrated.
My only saving grace is that someone may cancel, but of course this means calling like a maniac over the course of the next 7 months. :rotfl:
I wonder if it would work that I stayed at the I'm not so thrilled about resort for part of the stay and then maybe the other will be available for the other half of the stay. Oh, I don't know. :upsidedow
Does anyone have a hopeful idea or word of advice? :flower3:

Okay, so I've done the whole order maps, planning DVD thing and when it asks me when we are going, I put in May.

So, I check my email this morning and there's an email from Disney Destinations! The subject line: Weimann family, your Disney Dream is here!!

:banana::banana::banana::banana:

Imagine my surprise when I open it and it's good for select dates from 10/4/09 to 12/24/09!!! Really? Are you serious? :headache:

And the kicker is that in the text, it says "And you're probably excited to get a head start on the planning"

Ummm, yeah, a head start.....almost a month after the first date on the pin.

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Although it wasn't a pin we could use, in a way, it made my day because of the irony. I guess the odds of me getting a pin for May is pretty slim now.

You sound like us, except we are 5x a year. But we DO get pin codes. I always have to ask. Do you register your AP every year? Do you register it on the passholder site AND in your Disney profile? (both places!) I do this every few months and for everyone in our family. We get about 5 pin emails every time I get one because we are all passholders. Just wanted to make sure you are doing your part at keeping Disney updated. If you do go online and update your profile at disneyworld.com on a regular basis and still don't get pincodes or emails, then I don't know what else to suggest. Good luck. For some reason not everyone knows that you need to register your AP when you renew, plus you need to go online and keep your profile up to date. Don't rely on Disney to do it for you!!

You can book and then add a pin or discount later?? After you book??? And people were booking in Aug for next May?? Oh my...we are planning Thanksgiving week 2010...should I be booking soon??? I figured I would wait till 8 months before we go to book that way I could book the Character Meals 6 months in advance... I believe that was how early someone said I could do it...

You can book now and potentially add a pin or discount later. There needs to be rooms available with the code when you go to add it. A lot of people book early to start planning early or if they want a room type that books up quickly.

Nope there are lots of us unfortunate souls. I'm an AP holder and go to WDW several times a year. I've signed up my email every where I can find, have answered every survey Disney has ever sent me, have ordered the custom maps, vacation planning DVDs, DVC DVDs, and even the cruise line DVDs. Still nadda!

However, my 76 y/o mom, who has never been to WDW except with me, (where I am the lead name on the reservation and she is a guest), got one last fall for 40% off resorts for lots of select dates in 2009. She has never even spoken to anyone from Disney and doesn't even know how to get on a computer.

I had started a while back but kinda fell off the wagon so I would get burnt out on planning for a year and a half!! lol So I guess since I only have a year I need to start again! And didn't I read somewhere that if you do it online you can't pay it off as you go? You can only pay the deposit? And is it better to do a package thing on disney's site or do everything individually? I'm so lost... I better get my book and start reading! :confused3 :surfweb:

I have only had packages and you can make payments on them with the balance due 45 days out from your trip. It is my understanding that you can not make payments if you have a room only reservation.

She has never even spoken to anyone from Disney and doesn't even know how to get on a computer.

you know this happened to me too....I was the lead name on the reservation and both my mother and sister both got a pin that came to my address.... so when I was on the phone with the CM, she told me that as long as the pin/code comes to your physical address you can still use it... i had never heard this before but she said it was true!

hope that helps

We're going the middle of May and are hoping the 4/3 deal gets extended. :)

My dad's managed to already have gotten two pin codes. The first was for a 500 dollar giftcard, which we applied to our reservation. The second is only through December, with some moderates at 99 dollars a night. So, we can't use it, but I'm hoping that since he's apparently on the 'magical list', maybe we'll get the one for 40% off moderates through May!

This is crazy, did you register your AP through the passholder website AND update your profile on the disneyworld.com website? You need to do both every time you get a new AP/renewal. We are a family of 6 AP holders and I register everyone's AP and update everyone's profile and we all get emails and passholder pin offers via our email addresses. I just updated my daughter's last month as she had to replace her card because the scan didn't work, and she started getting emails the next week. Some folks forget to update and register their cards if they have to turn them in for a new card when they stop working. Remember when you replace your card they cancel that card number. I'm just trying to figure out why some AP holders get nothing and I've always gotten all of my AP offers and emails. Even the last AP PIN promotion, we even got 2 different pin numbers. Generally when a PIN is given to the same members of the family our pin numbers are ALL the same, but not the last time. Did you get the passholder email last week? While I got the pin offer that runs to June, the rates are still higher than the rates that are generally released to AP holders. I did book several trips with the pin code just in case, but mostly because I'm going during the weekends and sometimes there are no discounts on the weekends. Good LUCK, unfortunately, when you get an AP, it doesn't really come with instructions, so only here with the fellow disboards do you learn what needs to be done to work it at it's fullest. Remember, register on the passholder website AND add it to your Disneyworld profile. If you have more than one profile (like we do, add it to all of them).

I just got off the phone with a CM. No pin code for me yet. Drat.

I need % off the room since we will be booking room only again. We are only looking at spending 4 maybe 5 days tops over Memorial weekend next year.

I've got 1 day passes left for us from last years 4/3 that I'm just going to upgrade for the number of days we'll be there except for mine. Mine I'm looking at either 10 day, park hopper, no expire or just say heck with it and upgrade it to AP. :rotfl:

A few weeks ago I finally got my first PIN, but it was for Disneyland, which I didn't need as it was for a travel package and we are Premium APs and don't need park tickets.

We are already booked through AAA at a value preferred room and I really can't complain about how much our 9 day 8 night stay is going to cost. But, because I am always on the hunt for the best deal I wanted to get a PIN just to make sure I was getting the best deal possible.

But, as I have been trying all the tricks that other Dis-ers have used to get PINs (like ordering the DVD and/or maps) and nothing was working, I was beginning to think that it wasn't meant to be.

However, yesterday I finally had success!!! I got the 20-30-40 that many other Dis-ers were reporting. I used the method that I found on one thread which is to go to the website and build a couple of different packages but DO NOT book. I saved them and did nothing else. Then, I got an email from Disney that was basically along the lines of "here are some pictures of the resort you are looking at--doesn't this make you want to book a vacation?" I looked at it yesterday and thought to myself--"yes I want to book (already booked as a matter of fact), but i want a PIN". This morning I happened to look at the email again and realized that I had totally overlooked the pin offer that was buried about three quarters of the way through the email in fine print.

If you really want a PIN (like I did), I highly recommend giving this a try. After all, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain by potentially saving some money and getting to go to WDW!!!

I know exactly how you feel because I've done the same and it's been months
and for a while I kept going back and changing things an little and doing the
surveys and still I have nothing to show for it--no pin or offers--nothing.
I even talk online to one of the CMs which told me to do what I did but that
I may not be qualified for a pin (CM made me feel that I wasn't good enough to get a pin) and that really made me upset to the point that I started looking at other destinations. I don't know who really qualifies for a pin? who deserves a pin?
We had to cancel our trip this year because of the very bad economy. We would like to go next
year for our 25th anniversary but the only time would have to be if
Free Dining is offered. I feel better now, thanks for letting me vent.

*sigh* ... me too. I don't get it. Some people seem to have PINs coming out the whazoo and some never, ever get them. Take my sister. She got two free dining pins for this fall. They arrived about two weeks apart. Then, just a few days before we left for our Oct. stay she got a 40% off pin for the spring!

I received a PIN good for May on Friday in the mail. I'm in Canada, BTW. Have never had a PIN but have heard about them through DISBoards! I honestly think distribution of the PINS is random as apart from visiting Disney in August I haven't been on the disneyworld.com site at all the past few months. We have gone to Disney every year for the last 4-5 years and had decided to skip a year but the 40% off PIN was too much to resist, given it falls during our ideal time to visit, May, and it means we can stay at our fav resort, the Polynesian.

I'll be watching for any other deal that can match/beat it but right now I'm just thrilled we're going back, since I had written off a trip in 2010. So for Christmas the kids are getting the promise of Disney in the Spring.

Hi there. I crunched through the snow to my mailbox today and found a 30/35/40 % offer waiting for me. I'm very new to all of this and I have a question I hope someone won't mind answering. It's probably been asked before around here by others, and I apologize if this is a repeat question.
If I've already booked a trip to Disney through iTravel2000, and it is paid for in full, can I still take advantage of this offer after the fact? Also, is it just for those who book through Disney?
Thank-you for your time and patience with my newbie questions. :teacher:

I got one in my email the other day!! I was SO SO EXCITED! I wasn't expecting one at all. I've been so busy with school that I haven't been doing anything disney related the past couple of weeks and so I was completely shocked.

It was a 30% value/35% moderate/40% deluxe PIN. We're currently booked for POP from May 13-20th and I think we might just stick with that instead of upgrading. We're looking forwarded to staying at the POP sooo I think we're just gonna take the money off. :)

I have to check to see if we can apply the code to AAA since we booked through them. . .

And we are neighbors in WDW.:thumbsup2
Who knows we will run into each other at the beach.
We there from 5-15 May.

We will be there May 8-15 -- so I might see you all there for sure! Check out my pre-trip report (written by my hubby and I in a combined effort) and let me know if we have any of the same ressies or plans!

It's a lovely walk from the Polynesian to the Grand Floridian. I am so glad that they created that walkway! You never know if we might run into each other! :rotfl:

This is a great deal, I'm booked at the BWI CL and have saved a not inconsiderable amount - more money to spend at the Millennia Mall lol :) I was tempted to book the GF RPC as I did enjoy my last stay there, but I love the BWI, the CMs are amazing and the location is fantastic for an adult solo trip and of course I now have extra shopping money.

After seeing the new public offering we upgraded from CBR to the Poly! We have never stayed at the Poly before but thought the theme was similar enough to the CBR that we would love it. The queen size beds were also a big draw for us. We have two teenage sons and they will be dividing up their time between the queen bed and the day bed. We have a last week of April ressie and now are just watching the countdown!

I am trying to understand this whole code process? Do I just call and make a reservation, and say I have the code? Or do they ask? I was planning on making a reservation for May 17th-23rd today. Can somebody let me know. Thanks!

You would call, say that you would like to make a reservation and that you would like to apply the code (for the discount) to your reservation. They would then search with that code to see if there are any rooms available.

Hope that I made that clear, and good luck!

Looking back on the years past that we have travelled in May, the most that a discount has been for like a deluxe resort is 20%. So excited to see that it is a 40% discount because we saved at least $1,500 or more at the Polynesian for 9 nights.

Good luck to all who are booking!

So when you try to price online, it won't give you the discounted prices? I'm looking at Poly's 45% off for 5+ nights, and I get the $425/n price. Nowhere to put in the code. Do I just have to call?

TIA!

You just call and give them the code (I think it was QNY - but double check it on Mousesavers) the only issue is that for us - we had to rebook online and cancel over the phone they stayed on the phone with me the whole call - but it took 3 calls b.c everytime they couldn't seem to book it and showed no availability at the Poly which is where we are staying. But I had no trouble booking it online go figure.

BTW we will be there the same time as you are but are getting in a few days ahead and staying an extra day.

Still surprised to see the discounts come with hardly any rumors or waiting prior. The AP discounts are slightly better than the GP ones:

Thanks so much for mentioning this! I had a 40% off AP pin on my MK view CR room for 5/5 to 5/12 but just called to apply this 45% off code and saved almost $200 more.

How do you apply the new code for a stay in May if I already booked my package months ago?:confused3

We saved more with this new room only code (did AP though) than our year long pin. Saved an extra $120 for total savings off rack rate of $550 at POR May 23-30th!

Just call them at 407-WDISNEY give them the code QNY and see if there are any comparable rooms available w/ the discount. You may have to switch resorts or room types to get it as only a certain number of discounted rooms are available at each resort.

Stay dates: 1/1/10 to 6/3/10. Get a 25%-45% discount off regular "Rack" rates. Percent off varies by date. Use code QNY.

I could use some help.

I just saw the room discount and priced out a 7 night stay in mid May at the Wilderness Lodge. With an 8 day park hopper, the price is $2600. This compares to $3200 and the $750 gift card.

So, I'm better off taking the gift card deal, right? I would have expected 40% off the room rates to be the bigger savings. Am I missing something?

Thanks,
Mark

hmmm....maybe I can answer my own question. I just re-priced without the room discount and got a price of $3500, so that would make the room discount deal the better option unless I'm missing something.

I just got done booking the passholder discount and for 6 nights at the Poly GV with the dining plan for 2 adults and 1 child we are paying $2181. I looked at the gift card deal the price would have been $4362 for the room, tickets, dining plan and we would have gotten a $750 gift card back. If we added in the tickets and $750 for the git card to our AP package, we still come out $580 ahead.

Disney is tricky. The best way to see what is the best deal is to compare all the packages with the same options. They make it look like you are getting a good deal with the $750 gift card, but you may really be paying $1330 for that "free" gift card.

After the gc offer came out we upgraded from two rooms at Pop to two at CBR and were getting two cards...

but then the room discount came out and we were able to stay within the same budget and book my dream stay at BWI in a deluxe CL room!

$1000 in gift cards vs. $2065 off the room at BWI!!! And its only a little more than our original ressie at Pop!:thumbsup2
