I am I don't start too much of a ruckus by asking this, but I have always wanted to know and so I decided to bite the bullet and ask.

I know if two people stay in a room, they are supposed to be on the same dining plan.

BUT - if one person has an AP or is getting one and the other person is not, why wouldn't just one person reserve the room and say that only one person is in the room.

I know it is dishonest, so that is the REAL reason NOT to do it, but I can see where that could happen a lot.

The person checking in the room can have the MYW ticket and free dining, while the AP holder doesn't need it at all.

All ethical discussions aside, there are a couple logistical problems with your scenario. First, there would only be one KTTW issued to the party. You would never be able to split up. Second, and perhaps more problematic, only one of you would be able to take part in Extra Magic Hours because the other would not be technically staying on property.

Also if you are using DME from the airport, the person with the AP would not be able to ride, because they would not be listed as being in the room. Besides for the price of a one day ticket the AP holder could also get free dining. No way could he eat for the week on just $80.00. It wouldn't make sense for him not to try to get free dining also. They could just each get a one day ticket in order to get the pkg, then the one that needs the longer MYW ticket could just upgrade his one day ticket to whatever he needs once he gets down there. The AP holder could just keep his one day ticket to use at a later date.

Actually I was just thinking about this as I read that we could do that. Can't we use the 1 day ticket even towards an annual pass if we are going to buy one.

So here is what I am thinking of checking with Disney on.

Book my 5 day 4 night trip wtih the Fall vacation price with free dining with 1 day ticket.

Then one of us upgrade to the DVC member price of the annual price.

The other one upgrade to the regular annual price.

we are both going again in June for a larger family trip.

I was analyzing all the options trying to see if Free dining would be good, with a ticket now and tickets later or just getting annual pass. But if we can upgrade it sounds like that would be good.

Yes, you can use the 1 day ticket toward the cost of an annual pass.
