i never used one that much. brother is a professional photographer (passed away recently), so he took all the pictures for everyone. we've got some other pics from various cameras others have given us. i want to make prints with it and have a few digital pictures to experiment with. not sure how much to budget / i bought a nikon for 400 or so about twenty years ago. it took some great pics . not as good as brothers but we were satisfied with them. color was good. detail looked good. brother said it was good camera. we don't have this camera any more. we need a replacement. what do you think ? i have no clue what would be a good camera that is easy to use / good quality pictures. thanks for ideas.

So, are you wanting a p&s or a SLR type? If you paid $400 for your old one, I am assuming it was a SLR. If so, do you still have the lenses? They might work on a new Nikon DSLR. All consumer level cameras have an auto mode, so all can be easy to use.
