Sooo I added a couple of Dissers... (Hi mindy, laura,Not Jimmy Leonard:),ros,Wigd) and lots more. They've pretty much been people I know. Now there are like random people adding me that I have NO clue who they are and they are all friends with dissers. Anyone else having this problem. :confused3
Love UNO night though :D:goodvibes:lovestrucpirate:

I have pretty much been aware of the people who have added me.

I made the mistake once of adding someone who several DISers were friends with. Come to find out they just added him because everyone else had. Nothing bad happened, but I could see he really wasn't the sort of person I'd ordinarily friend, so I deleted him from my list.
Please, everyone, if you decide to ask someone to be your friend, put a note with your DIS name, or how you may be connected! I will just ignore any requests that I'm not sure about now. I don't want creepy people on my friend list...except the creepy people I already know and love!

Take Mindys advice I had the same problem she did.

I've had a few DISsers add me, but I've never had any of their friends add me. I'm only now just getting into posting on the boards even though I've been lurking for about 4 years :scared1:
I don't mind if people add me, I don't think it's strange at all! Although if you don't have anything in common like the DIS I suppose it is a little strange.

Ditto to what Mindy said! If people don't put their DIS name or I don't recognize them, I just ignore the request.

Facebook will randomly suggest people when you have many friends in common. I've tried to only add from the UNO list or people that have names I recognize (like from chat/podcasts/podcast boards (when I send the invite). I have also adjusted my privacy settings and added a new "group" to my profile. I now have DIS friends and my everyday friends. I love you people, but I don't know you (yet!), so for DIS, there is limited access to my pictures and such.
It's just a way to protect myself and my family, yet give people a chance to get to know me (from my updates) or for me to know them from their updates. So DO be sure to protect yourself and don't go adding "willie-nillie". I look forward to meeting LOTS of people at DISapalooza!

I always check to see who they are already friends with. If Mindy is on there list I usually delete them. lol (just kidding). I am so enjoying facebook! I have reconnected with my highschool friends, and several odd people from my past.:scared1:

I always send a note asking DIS names and letting them know that I have small children, so I don't readily accept requests like Pete and some of the main crew do. If I don't hear back from them or don't recognize their DIS name, then I don't accept.
Most people are very understanding when they email back. And yes - that guy asked me for friending too. He never replied, so "delete"!

I don't accept unless they include their DIS name. I'm a snob I guess :rolleyes1

I feel the same way. I have to admit, even DISers that I don't recognize, I've been ignoring. Now that I'm learning how to create lists and change my settings, I'm more willing to befriend people, with limitations until I "know" them.

I don't get to get on here as much as I would like. But I love all my DIS friends even if I don't recognize them right away from their name. Seems like one of us is at Disney so I get to see any Disny comments or pictures. I haven't had any issues YET from having them as friends.

If I don't recognize who they are from the boards, I send a note asking their DIS Name before adding them. I had one DISer from the Uno List whose posts on FB were a little too Explicit for me and I deleted them, but I also had another DISer send me a warning about this person as they had found him Creepy. The person who Mindy is talking about sent me a Friend Request this week, as I had become aware of him from the posts about him on FB and I sent a note asking His DIS Name and got no response, so he was ignored and not added.
I always send my DIS name in any Friend Request I send to a Diser, that way they know who I am.

The way understand Facebook (or maybe it is how I have set it up), a person is not just added. They have to ask to be added and you have to accept them. If you do not accept them, they are not added.
Certainly, do not accept people you don't know!
I wonder how a person with over a hundred facebook friends can follow eveyone's status posts!

i have everyone categorized in a list: Dis, high school, college, grad school, home town, current town, youth group, family, other (i.e. difficult to pigeonhole) etc etc etc etc
when you put them in lists, you can then on your home page, click on that list, and only those updates will appear. it makes it very easy to follow the updates that way.

It's possible this thread is referring to me and if it is I apologize.
I've been reading the posts on this board for a while now, but haven't posted myself. In fact, i only just registered recently so that I could post and then chickened out (this is only my second or third post).
I completely forgot that no one knew me, since by reading everyone's posts i came to feel that i do know you. So I am sorry if I offended anyone by requesting friendship on facebook (which I did).
I should explain that I got to the Dis via a friend - a real friend, not a facebook friend. Disneyholic family is a childhood friend.
She introduced me first to the podcasts - told me I'd love them, and I do.
Then she dragged me into facebook, where I now spend a lot more time than she does (mostly playing yoville, which i'm now hooked on  ).
I hope to one day meet some or all of you for 'real'.

It sure is NOT you that I was referring to. My incident was with some dude who was big and covered with tattoos, and had no interest in Disney...and I'm still not sure why he friended me, but he was deleted when I realized he (and another person who I couldn't identify, who requested almost at the same time) and I shared no common interest.
Still, once burned, twice shy. When asking for friends, I will only accept if I know you are from here, or someone I know from elsewhere.

Abby, the person(s) in question is not you. Just identify yourself as as Diser with your Screen name and you will be gladly accepted by anyone in this group. The ones in question are those that don't identify themselves even when questioned who they are or are very in appropriate in regards to their posts.

I got a friend request from someone I thought was a DIS'er. Then it turned out he was a "soul collector" or something like that. I read his profile and was like... WHAT?? My soul is still hopefully intact and I deleted him real quick.
