Hi. I just tried to add the regular dining plan onto my Annual Pass room reservation. They said it would be $155 for the room only, and to add the regular dining it would be $399.54. I asked how much the reg dining is and she said about $40pp, so i did the math and got $315. Why the $85 in tax??
So she put me on hold to find out what's not adding up. She came back and said with the AP rate, you can get a lower rate on room only, but pay out of pocket for dining, OR you can get dining added but then you pay a higher rate on the room.
Well the regular dining plan was not saving me $80 for two adults, two nights so i guess i'll be paying OOP.
I dont remember having any problem doing this in March!
Is this normal?????? :scared1:

That shouldn't be the case unless they thought you were trying to add the free dining, which would negate the room only rate. For a room-only res it should be room + normal DDP cost AFAIK - it was for us in December.

Unless they've changed something, you should be able to keep your AP discount on the room and pay full price for the dining plan.
So either she was wrong, or they've changed the deal for purchasing the DDP for AP holders.
I want to go with "she was wrong," but with the new DDP info just coming out so recently, I'm hesitant to pick that choice!

I think the PP has the right idea about free dining possibly - ONLY because $84 is the new price for a one day ticket, and you would have to buy that to get FREE dining, even if you're an AP holder.
In any case, something about it is not right. I would call back and get a different CM.

I agree, something isn't right. We recently booked our AP rate room and added on the QSDP and didn't get charged a higher room rate.

Hate to say so but the CM may be right. You cannot add DDP to a room only reservation. If you have an annual pass, what you will be doing is converting your room-only reservation to a package reservation including your room plus the dining plan. The only way to do that is to cancel your room only reservation and rebook as a package.
If there is an AP discount available for that room on that date, they can apply that. However, if the AP discount is unavailable (and it may be that AP discount rooms are sold out for those dates) they can't apply the discount to the new package. If AP dining packages are sold out for those dates (I think the availability of those are limited too) you will need to buy a ticket to get the dining plan. In addition, if you're within 45 days of your arrival you have to pay off the reservation in full as soon as you convert it to a package.
Call back, and if another CM tells you the same thing, check on an annual passholder room/dining package at a different resort in the same category.

hi, thanks for your quick responses! i looked up annual passholder on here and got the codes for adding dining, so i called back and asked the same thing again only this time i said i have a code for it. I got the correct price. It was $318, and i figured $315 so that is right.
Do you always need a code though, i dont remember using one in March and i'll be needing to do the same thing again for my December reservation once AP rates are out.

AP rates are out now through December 24.
The first CM apparently misunderstood what you were trying to do, that's why it's best to call back and try again.

I tried to add the DDP to our bounceback ressie (we are also AP) I was told it couldn't be done and I would have to purchase the 1 day park pass per person to keep my bounceback rate and to add the DDP.
I'm not sure that is correct?? So I left my current ressie with the bounceback.

It sounds like what you have is a bounceback room with a discounted rate, not an AP discounted room. Call back and see if the AP discount can beat it. I know for my Sept/Oct trip the AP discount at a moderate is 40% on weeknights and 42% on weekends. Other than free dining for a large family, I don't know of another discount out right now that could beat that.
When I was there last Sept I booked bounce back free dining for this Sept. That was paying rack rate for the room, one day park ticket, and free dining. It round up being a solo trip to CSR. When the AP codes came out, I canceled the bounce back and took the AP room discount, didn't have to buy a one day ticket, and paid for the dining. With the money I saved I was able to upgrade to the DxDDP and Disney still owed me a little money back.:cool1: For a solo at a moderate, the AP discount beat any other offer thats out there right now.

Unfortunately the AP Rate was not as good as the bounceback . . .so I'm keeping the bounceback rate . . .we'll have to pay OOP for the food . . .which is ok and what we are used to . . .just that this time we are taking the kids along and we are doing some sit downs instead of eating on the go . . .

All of us here, as well as the general public, concern ourselves just with the discount codes.
As far as a reservation CM is concerned, every single type of package has a code they have to enter. It generally appears as three letters on your reservation. Even the normal full rate packages have codes.
With literally hundreds of codes, and some that change very often, if a CM's not on the ball or misunderstands the request I can understand the confusion.
