Getting ready to go to HHI, and I had a question or two on fireworks. One- do the still do fireworks on Wednesday? I have not seen anyone talk about this. Two-Can my son shoot off fireworks on the beach at night or is the beachhouse access closed at this time? Or is fireworks legal to shoot off at HHI?
Thanks for the answers in advance!

We just got back from HHI. While we were there (June 23-29), the fireworks were on Tuesday night (in affiliation with Shelter Cove Harbor's Harborfest). We went over to the Shelter Cove Harbor side of the harbor around 7 for the 9pm fireworks, and finding a spot to watch them from was a lot like finding a spot to watch a WDW parade - people were camped out 2+ hours in advance anywhere that one could comfortably sit. We ended up in the grassy area near the end of the walkway, and that seemed a pretty good spot.
As for fireworks on the beach, I don't know about that, but the beach house itself is only open from 8am-8pm. You can still get beach access after 8pm by going through the parking garage under the beach house.

Last June, We simply took our beach chairs down to the little boardwalk that goes from the main lodge towards the pool. No problem getting a spot since it was only resort guests!!

We're at HH right now and are looking forward to watching the fireworks from our balcony. :)
As for beach fireworks, I'd imagine there are restrictions to protect the sea turtles nesting at this time of the year.

At every beach access there are a set of rules & regs posted, and I'm 99% sure that fireworks on the beach are prohibited.

GrammieMame is absolutely correct. I checked the access information sign this morning and "No Fires or Fireworks" are allowed on the beach at all.
Better plan to enjoy the fireworks provided at the resort or at one of the many other locations around the island.

Doc, from which buildings can you see the fireworks from the balcony? We are staying in the lodge.
Thanks.

The fireworks are set off from a barge anchored just beyond the fishing pier behind the resort. If you are in an island view room in the lodge (left side as you face the entrance), you should have a good view. If you face the inlet, you'll need to find a better spot to view them. (The boardwalk area on the way to the pool is a good spot, but there are many)
We're in bldg 13 and will be at the "Behind the Ears" tour tomorrow morning.
There are fireworks every Tuesday thru the summer- including tonight, I understand- plus on the 4th of July. So we'll get a double dose this week!
Enjoy!

Thanks for checking Doc! I guess we will watch the fireworks on next Tuesday night we will be there! My son will have to shoot his own fireworks here before we go I guess, OH WELL, I don't think he will be disapointed! After all, we will be at DVC HHI! Ocean, pool, beach, etc. I think he will forget the fireworks by then!! LOL
Hey Doc, drink a cold one for me, and tell HHI I will be there next week. Keep the campfire warm for me!!
