I wanted to urge folks to check out a play called "The Old Settler" now being presented by the People's Theater at the Studio Theater, 398 W. Amelia, corner of Hughey, in Orlando.

Performances are at 8 pm, Thursdays thru Sunday and at 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday. The play runs only through July 7. The box office number is (407) 426-0545 and tickets are $15.

Set in New York's Harlem during the 40s, the play tells the story of a love affair between an older woman and a young man fresh from the rural South. It's funny and poignant and beautifully written.

I haven't seen this production, but I saw the original in New York (with Lesley Uggams in the lead) and it was TERRIFIC. This production got a good review in the Orlando Sentinel. Here's the link:

I've made reservations for the night of July 7th. See you there?

Oh, Kelly that sounds fantastic.

I would love to go, but I will still be here in PHilly on July 7th.

Please let me know how it is. (Leslie Uggams, WOW!)
