Hi everyone. We are booked on the 10/13/2002 Wonder. We originally had booked room 6010, a window, but decided to "go for it" and upgrade to a verandah. When I called DCL, they told me I would be on Guarantee status. I went ahead and booked the verandah, but am concerned. Does this mean we are going to get a "leftover" room. One say, by an elevator or noisy area? Also, do any of you know when we will have an actual room number assigned? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :)

Being in a guarantee status just means you are guaranteed a cabin at LEAST in that cabin category. It doesn't mean you will get an undesirable cabin at all. :D Being by the elevators is actually very convenient and not noisy at all, if that's where you end up.

Enjoy your cruise! :D

Hi Michelle. Thank you for your quick reply. I feel reassured now. I just was not sure what that mean't, since I was not assigned a room number this time. Thanks again.:)

I agree, it doesn't mean you'll get an undesireable cabin, it just means you'll get one that becomes freed up when someone has to cancle or reschedule before the final payment date. You might be upgraded to a higher category, too.

You can check on your cabin assignment if you booked directly with DCL by going to the reservations webpage and using the 'check your reservations' link. You need to supple your DCL reservations number and the phone number you listed when making the reservation. If you booked with a TA, the link will not work.

Here's the page: Check Reservations Page (http://dcl.reservations.disney.go.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/TravelCL.woa/4/wo/cz4E9yeD6Yfq2XZXTsJ1Fw3SoK8/0.10.58)

hope that helps

Al - Thank you for your reply to my question. I looked up the reservation link you gave me...thank you for that...and still don't have a room assignment. However, after getting such great assurance, I am actually looking forward to being suprised about where we end up. Thank you again for your help.:)

You're welcome.

Keep checking about once a week and one day you'll notice a cabin assignment will appear.

On our first DCL cruise in early 2000, we had a GTY category, and we were pleasantly surprised to find that we were upgraded from a category 9 to a category 6 with a veranda. We haven't been in a GTY category since then and we haven't been upgraded since then, but it was very nice.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll be pleased. Maybe you'll get a Category 4 with a little additional floor space.

We have two rooms books and have been assigned specific cabins, does this mean our chances of being upgraded is less than if we had GTY? :D

Yes, I believe your chances of an upgrade are less than if you were in a GTY status.

Also, if you have two cabins and the reservations are in the same name or they are 'linked', it is more difficult to upgrade both of them.

Still not impossible, but the chances are lower.
