There was another post on here about the worst ride or I guess shows since it seemed a lot of people picked stitch. My mom and I were talking about it and she said that hers was the Great Movie Ride. When I asked why she said cause it was boring and outdated. That got me thinking about starting this thread about what scenes would you update at the Great Movie Ride. Some of them are such classic movies that I don't even know if I would want them updated.

I know the end movie reel has been updated over the years so I am mainly talking about the AA scenes you go through. I guess the pre-show trailer movie would have to be edited as well if a change ever happened.

So, What would you change, if anything at all?

I would change the "Alien" scene. I just think its very outdated, and the woman AA is just no good anymore. The vehicle your in moves to slow for there to really be any effect. Other than that, I love the GMR.

Have a magical day.

Wow- good question. I'll have to think about it for awhile, but as far as major movie blockbusters over the past couple of decades, the only thing that keeps popping into my mind is Titanic.:confused3 (Come on...you know you all went to see it!!!) I don't know what it would replace. I don't think a lot of kids and even young adults today know about the Alien movies. That could go, perhaps.

From the "Ready when you are CB" to the great "exit scene (applause)" I love it all. Wouldn't change a thing!

Oh wait.....maybe I need to go ride it to make sure.....

I personally LOVE this ride. My folks have never been to HS and this is one of the ones I am dying to take them on!

However, it wouldnt disturb me at all if they changed the Alien part as I never saw the movie so its just another scene to me. And I did notice the last time I went that they had added newer clips to the montage at the end (the last time I'd been was in 2003-2005 and this was 2008).

Forgot to mention that I love how you get to see movie clips while waiting in line. It totally makes the time go by faster. Would be neat to see some new clips in the montage there as well (they may have already done that but I didnt notice the last time that I went).

Another vote for the alien portion...they could change that part over to a Matrix movie scene, but maybe that's too old of a move.

I would like to see a National Treasure scene

Can't change Alien. That is first thing I think of about the GMR. And when I was a kid it did scare me. So no you can't change the one thing that people remember about the ride. I also remember the Wizard of Oz part. So don't change that part either. But if they are going to update it they should totally update it, create some interactivity, have those characters talk to you. Bring the movies to life in a 21st century way.

I thought the scenes at the end film were updated once they dropped the MGM affiliation? I kind of assumed all of the original clips were from MGM movies, and once that affiliation was gone, it opened up more possibilities?

I would love to see a scene from Pirates of the Caribbean where the alien scene is. Maybe Jack and Will crossing blades. Where the alien is in the ceiling, the Kraken's tentacles could come down. The walls could be inside the boat where the Kraken's tentacles are going past the window. Oh yeah!!!!!

I agree, add the golden age movie "Meet me in St Louis" with Judy Garland sing the Trolley Song so people will connect it with the song that we heard in the Magic Kingdom during the opening of the park.

Several of the movie clips were and are of non-MGM origin. Star Wars - Lucasfilm....Indiana Jones - Paramount.....Terminator - Universal, etc.

Yes I can do without it! I'm terrified of animatronics and during this part I close my eyes and scrunch down as low as possible!

NC State Meet me in St. Louis is my favorite movie. I think it would be really cool to see The Trolley Scene.

What about adding some actors/scenes from 'The Slient Movie Era' aka: Harold Lloyd, Buster Keaton or Charlie Chaplin.
Or what about Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's while it's not my favorite of her films it's the most iconic.

I don't think they should add any scenes/actors from movies from the last 25 years. After all the ride is called The Great Movie Ride. And the greatest movies at least in my opinion were made before 1970.

Way off topic here - but funny story. So my boyfriend and I were watching Sex and the City the movie and there is a part in the movie where Carrie is watching Meet me in St Louis and Judy Garland is actually singing that song....it's like an alarm went off in my boyfriends head and he sat straight up on the couch and just looked at me with this weird look. After a bit he said "hey I know that song, that's the trolley song" :) It was great, it was like a huge light bulb went off over his head.

Ok it was funny at the moment.....

Back on topic now, I love ALL of the GMR and wouldn't change a thing except maybe make it a little longer and put more movies in it :thumbsup2

I think it would be interesting to have new movies added to the GMR. My first thought is something from Lord of the Rings.

I'm another for "leaving as is" and then maybe just adding to it!

I love the Alien part of the GMR! My kiddo who is now 10 was always afraid of that part, and had no idea about the movie. Til one day a couple months ago Alien was on tv, so I stopped and said "ya know the part in GMR...blah, blah, blah and it was just coming to the part where the little Alien bust out of the guys belly , well he loved it (go figure):sad2: now he says he cant wait to ride GMR next trip to see the Alien!

I also like the Alien part, but honestly, I would like to see a total replacement of all scenes...there are so many movies to chose from that it seems like a waste not to use more on this ride.
