"And so the story is told to children of all ages that if you wish hard enough and believe strong enough, Tinker Bell may appear to fly high above Cinderella Castle and light the Magic Kingdom's Fantasy in the Sky!" - Narrator, Fantasy in the Sky

Hmmm... TLC A&E has a new series “Obsessed” that gives to insight to its audience how obsession can affect a persons life.
Call it Dis-Board guilt syndrome but a camera crew showed up in my dreams last night and my DH opened the show by detailing my compulsion to trip plan. Thanks Honey.

I blame the dream on the fact that after a eight months of preparation, sharing details& questioning my DH turns to me at 47 days out and says “So how long are we going for and what different at this Disney?”
(Insert jaw drop and consequential eye rolling).

This trip somehow evolved from what started as a Mexican vacation. DH beat cancer last year and I wanted a chance to get away and celebrate. Here lies the problem; like many of you Dis-ers I do not REALLY know how to sit and do nothing on a vacation. Our last three major trips have been to Disneyland as we are on the far west coast. All inclusive Mexico was being offered at reasonable prices but then did the pools have waterslides? My focus turned to Paradise Island in the Bahamas. Now there’s a water resort. But why fly those extra miles when there is a couple of fabulous water parks at Disneyworld. And so my planning went into overdrive.

I shared my tentative ideas with DH, 49 and DD 10. I now know it was only one sided sharing on the husband part of that exchange. I mentioned in conversation to my DD-IL , Jenn, my plans knowing she would feel my joy as they were planning DW in 2010. DS and DD-IL are our families biggest Disney fanatics so as the chips fall we could not take this trip without including them. Our party expands to five.

Hurray at least now I have an equally obsessed planner in my DD-IL.
Let the pre-occupation begin!

HI DI!!

My name is Jenn and I am also a Dis-aholic! Since I'm part of this trip I suppose I will write a little something about myself.

I used to watch Disney movies everyday when I was little. I knew every song, and still have them on my IPOD ;) I was always promised that we would go to the parks as a child but when I finally turned 16, I gave up the hope that I would be going to those magical places. :sad2: Thats when my dad met his new wife. She has little kids of her own, so guess what? I was finally able to go Disneyland. I loved every second of it. I went again with my MIL, FIL and SIL in 2008 and yet this trip was better then the last!

After this last trip my DBF, BJ and I decided we needed to tackle the WORLD!!! So we decided to save and take the trip of a lifetime in September 2010!!:woohoo:Then my MIL phoned and said that they were going to WDW in Sept 2009.... WHAT... WHAT!!! You can't go before us!!!! So that's how BJ and I decided to go to WDW, jealousy!:rotfl:

Goodness this is a magical place….more than one Halloween!

We are the biggest fans of Halloween. We build a haunt for charity and of course our own fun. Imagine our pleasure in finding out there are numerous Halloweens in the form of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. That alone singled out what time of the year we would be visiting the Kingdom.

I spent weeks crunching the numbers via many websites. Which airline? Should we rent a condo for oh so many dollars cheaper? But Jenn reminded me that there is nothing like staying in a Disney property. The sheer ambiance. The sights , the smells the proximity to paradise. The only thing is we wouldn’t be affording a concierge level trip this time. Hmmm it’ll be like having sparkling apple juice once you’ve tasted Dom.

We decided that on the heels of our last trip we would have to stay Value and after reading many reviews and listening to Dis-er opinions we chose a couple of rooms at the Pop Century in September .That would give us enough time upon our return to pour our efforts into Halloween here.

I became of daily visitor to Fare Compare and snapped up $99 seats Seattle to MCO via the
Air Tran website. Flying from the island was just not an option at $500 more per person.
So at least we would have a pre-mini driving trip to boot.

Things just kept getting better as we read of past Septembers when the Disney Dining Plan was offered “free”. We booked and waited with baited breathe for this awesome deal to be offered again. DH’s ears did pick up some tidbit about free and agreed to keep hoarding the Loonies and Twoonies until the golden day that the trip would be paid off.

We, and by the we, I mean Jenn and I filled the days by designing autograph books and then having them published, “Cricut-ing” mousekeepking envelopes,
Designing family t-shirts and pouring over spreadsheets that Jenn developed to keep track of ADR’s, shows and what parks on what days. Oh pathetic I know but as I right this there are dis-ers right now thinking “been there...doing that..”

So as the planets aligned the Canadian Dollar climbed to .90 and we paid off our balance at the 60 day mark. Now we sit watching that blessed little countdown clock on my computer, perusing food porn and living the dream vicariously through others completed trip reports.

30 days and break out the suitcases!:woohoo:

So let me formally introduce my Dis-entourage

http://inlinethumb24.webshots.com/8791/2119085220035489037S500x500Q85.jpg (http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2119085220035489037ESNtDd)

First my DS 20 -BJ. As big as Beast . A definite prince with not a mean bone in his body. Don't know how he turned out so great must have had a great fairy godmother!

At his side D(future)D-inlaw Jennifer 22. A princess in her own right who marches to her own drum. Such a Disney efficiando that it is a given that she will win at Disney Trivial Pursuit.

The smallest of our Dis-entourage is DD-11 Paige. With a wistful *sigh* I relent that my once frou frou princess would much rather fight pirates these days pirate:. I embrace those occasional days when her formal majesty shines through without me coaxing her into a dress.

Then there is myself; Hi I am Diana 43. I never fancied myself a princess although the clothes and bling I am sure would rock! I can most certainly relate to Tinkerbell:tink:; a little spoiled, good sense of humour but an attitide that can change on a dime...OK let's just call them mood swings

And last but not least the reason we are taking this trip DH Don 50. He is our Sulley :sulley:. My big hero, a blue collar worker to the bone who on top of that is a loving caretaker to his family. His jokes however are not worthy a laugh factory. On DH birthday last June he was diagnosed with cancer. The year was a tough one but he is now declared to be 95 % cancer free (as high as the doctor will proclaim). So that is why this trip came about. The Disney commercials question "What will you celebrate?" Well we are celebrating LIFE!

We arrived home from a week long RV vacation to Alberta a cuple of days ago.
In my eyes it was not my *real* vacation...just a means to pass time till Disney. The argg part is going back to work with a weeks worth of catch up on my plate.

I sulked home feeling sorry for myself only perking up when DH handed me.......................
two vary large envelopes housing some very special yellow sticky labels:woohoo:
Yeah!!!! Our Magical Express Luggage Tags

Guess my Bassett Hound Zoe isn't thrilled we will be leaving her at home!

DH did not quite share the same excitement that I was feeling over luggage claim tags...hmmm I am going to have to work on his enthusisium. Although he is just relieved it is not something else to have to pay for.

I used to love camping at Long Beach when I lived in Bremerton & Poulsbo !

Have you been to MNSSHP before? I am really looking forward to dressing up and immersing ourselves in that night! Perhaps we will cross paths on the 22nd.

I'm not even around to bask in the glory that is "Magical Express Tickets" Here I am on my own little vacation and you get what I've been waiting for. I don't think Zoe is impressed with your excitement because I know she's thinking "where's that girl with the long hair, she'd be jumping around all crazy!" Apperantly you weren't excited enough!!

Di describes me as a princess, well I don't know about that but I guess I could cope with it, if I had to. But the trivial pursuit thing is true, it's really sad I have to trick people into playing with me. ;) There is one Disney game I can't win when BJ is around, and that's Disney Think Fast for the WII and let me tell you I was shocked and I pouted a little when I lost. But it's not because he knows more then me, it's that the hours of playing video games have escalated his quick reflexes so he can press the button faster then me. I know, I know, I'm pathetic, but that reasoning makes me feel better so I'm going to keep on thinking it!:rolleyes1

Now about Di's description of herself, she is truly Tinkerbell, maybe too much worshipping has turned her. :confused3 We did the "Who are you" quiz in Beast's Library last year at DLR, guess who she got, first try, no fudging answers! Thankfully I have managed not to attract the Tink attitude so far!

Don, described to a tee as well exspecially the joke comment, we mostly just shake our heads:sad2:

Now Paige, she forgot to mention how caring and generous she is. :flower3: She's sometimes on the little over protective side, but it does truly show how much she cares. Yes she might want to fight along with the pirates but that may have something to do with her wanting to keep up with big brother.

Now planning:

BJ and I are still planning on going on our 2nd trip so we decided to get AP's which we just recently decided to upgrade to PAP's when we get there. We have thought it through and it made sense. Our second trip is going to be a 17 day extravaganza and since I know he will want to check out Disney Quest and we will be hitting the water parks, we decided to upgrade. I don't know how much planning I have actually put into this upcoming trip, Di say's "OOOOOO!!! flights - $99!!!!" (that was actually the call I got) I say OK. We did spend 3 hours on a sunny Sunday finishing my hard worked on spreadsheet, hey I had to do something to bide the time when she went to Arkansas and I had no one to talk Dis with! We picked which parks when and our ADR's that day.

I would tell you a little more detailed info about the trip but I don't have my spreadsheet or passporter here with me. Hold on I have my Ipod!!

Now as Di said:

When: Sept 20th-Set 28th
Where: Pop Century
What :Mickey Not So Scary Halloween Party Sept 22
ADR's:
Crystal Palace
Tutto Italia
Park Fare
Sci Fi Theatre
Aloha Dinner at Poly

She forgot to mention Blizzard Beach:

We are taking a late flight from Seattle and landing in Florida around 10am.
We are going to check in and then heading to Blizzard Beach, I wanted to do Typhoon Lagoon because I wanted to swim with the sharks but I was vetoed and since I can do that next trip, I relented. After BB we are hitting DTD and I'm sure we will be exhausted! :faint:

Jenn played with Photoshop for sometime picking out all of our favorite charactors and incorporating them.

However the first thing we started making when we intially booked the VaCa were Mousekeeping envelopes. These ones were mine. Jenn's are much better as she did not rush making them. I am sure she will share them later.

I am to be a Spring Fairy and Jenn will be a Water Fairy.
Paige is going as Kiari from Kingdom Hearts 2 (Disney Playstation Game/Anime), BJ will be a Knight and Don is wavering from using his King of Heart costume last year and is leaning towards being Indiana Jones in hopes of it being cooler.

I am a little disapointed in myself. As one who prides herself as a planner how could I have started a Pre-trip and not at have done somewhat of an outline. Now as I review what I have put to keyboard I realize *ohh* I should have said this here and included that there. What a control freak!
:confused3

Our last two DL trips we pin traded. DD is quite shy and this practise really encourages her to interact. As with prior trips we ordered a pin lot on Ebay. Let me say whoaa... have the prices ever increased over the past few years and you really have to be cognizant that you are not getting imposter traders! When we get home from our trips we mount our conquests in shadow boxes that we pass by and look at dreamily wishing for our next Disney vacation.

As Jenn said there was a Sunday morning where with Two Ipods loaded with the Disney Dining Application, A Disney Passporter and Two Unofficial Disneyworld guides we sat down and filled in the spreadsheet that Jenn has created. The Disney Dining Ipod app was so helpful when having to choose ADR's for five people that incldes two picky eaters.

We were so proud of the finished spreadsheet. We figure that all of us should have a copy and as I show it to DH I get a "Holy %$#&...you know this is a vacation right?! It is a halfhearted protest. Deep inside I know he is relieved that someone else has "thunk" it all out.

Well I don't know how to start.

The first Disney trip I went on I knew nothing about pin trading, when I got there and saw them, I knew I had to have them.

This is our first attempt on our first trip:
http://inlinethumb09.webshots.com/45064/2883371570105483417S425x425Q85.jpg (http://family.webshots.com/photo/2883371570105483417vQLpPu)
We shared this lanyard, bought pins we liked and traded some as well

This is BJ's lanyard from our 2nd trip:

If you can't tell it's mostly Stitch. He's pretty much an open book;) We traded some pins bought in lots and bought some also. If you think it's wierd he has Princess Minnie on his lanyard, it isn't, he doesn't have some wierd fettish. He plays the Kingdom Hearts game and that's how Minnie is dressed which was the only thing he could find remotely close to Kingdom Hearts

This is my masterpiece:

This last trip we went on my birthday so Don bought me the Peter Pan birthday pin, Diana bought me the ToT one as a token of courage because I went on it again and didn't cry this time:woohoo: We collected all of the Pirate/Mickey gang ones by trading and managed to find the whole set, Jack sure talked alot about the Jack/Mickey one when I went to see him, He thought it was creepy but I love my pins!

As Diana said we started our mousekeeping envelopes early, when I purchased a cricut expression here are my envelopes:

We did make the window decorations early and also the tshirts last week. I was proud of the photoshop work I did with the tshirts. I think they turned out pretty good.

Diana mentioned that we were going as fairies for MNSSHP and here is the before photo of my costume, I'll be sure to post a picture when it's finished:

Your mousekeeping envelopes really are so much better...but I don't know if I am inspired enough to start again.

I have laughed off that we are going during hurricane season but given recent weather I broke down and bought a palm sized umbrella to carry in parks. It will take up less space than packing a weeks worth of poncho's.

I know others have said they did not take out trip insurance and would ride out weather. That being said we bought the insurance and it would take a whole lot more than a hurricane to postpone. I simply cannot wait any longer than 32 days..13 hours...19 min...18 seconds:dogdance:

I promised myself I would try to not to engage in planning gear this past weekend. Can I not go 48 hours?
Apparently not!

I tried to sleep in (I am up at 5 am for work weekdays). This did not work so I thought "Read a little Dis for awhile.
Someone was posting the virtues of Dis Ipod apps of which I love the ones I run. We made all our dining ADR's using app Walt Disney Diding guide.

One poster talked about the handiness of Mouse Memo and I knew I had to have it. .99 cents later I am programming in all our flights, hotels, ME, ADR's and events. Allnow at the touch of my IPOD-love this:yay:

I have not yet finished my cup of coffee when I read that I can do this to my IPOD

No readers...so many pre-trips to peruse.
That being said I am not blue because I received two wonderful blue envelopes today

Inside are all our vouchers and our Disney World Luggage tags.
Once again a wonderful topper to a challenging day.

I was getting overly paranoid reading others posts who were saying that their ADR's were lost or dropped or cancelled.
*Gasp* that is enough to send an over planner into a panic. I am one of those who "hates to bother" people unneccessarily so I contemplated battle with the Disney Webpages in leiu of calling the operators. Battle I say because I cannot seem to navigate their site without glitches and the slew of profanity that accompanies having to log on dozens of times.
Imagine my utter delight when I am able to pull up all of our ADR's thus reassuring myself (and ultimately D-Dil) that all is well on the dining front.:hmghost: I should but a lottery ticket today.

My trip to Arkansas in June and prvious trips to Disneyland had me worrying about roaming cell phone charges. It cost us hundreds on the last trip.
I visited the Canadian planning forum and am going to take the advise of fellow Canadian dis-ers and buy a couple of "disposable " cell phones. As soon as we cross the border we will visit either Walmart of Target in Bellingham and buy 2 Net10 phones, charge them and activate them in Florida . 300 minutes will be plenty for short calls and texting. For $19-$29 a phone the savings will be well worth it.

On the MNSSHP planning front DD and grandmom finished DD costume. As I have said she wants to be Kairi from Kingdom Hearts 2 game (Disney for Playstation).

http://inlinethumb37.webshots.com/14564/2242187020035489037S200x200Q85.jpg (http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2242187020035489037wJihbA)

She had her heart set. The costume fininshed only slightly resembles the charactors. While I wish she had chosen something more easily identifiable, she is happy with it and it didn't cost $125 like the Cosplay version on Ebay.
I still have concerns about DH King of Hearts costume being overly heavy and bulky to pack. I tried to talk him into a MNNSHP t-shirt but he is actually questioning whether it would be lame to go not in costume. With him this willing to dress up I don't want to burst the bubble telling him there will be many "undressed". Still have to think this one out:scratchin

Hope eveyone elses plans are falling into place!

Every once in a while I go onto Airtran webpage checking our itinary. Probably, OK, totally unneccessary because the one minor change they made they emailed me twice. At booking in Feb we did not want to pay the $6 per person seat saver and were going to chance trying to sit together. I panicked today with not many seats left adjacent. I bit the bullet and paid. I did however get to apply a $25 coupon. The really unfair part is I booked direct through Airtran and had to pay for priority seating and others who booked through Canoe got their seats for free.:crazy2:

On a lighter note. On our last trip to Disneyland it was rare for us to pass a Churro cart without one of us breaking down. Ah those lovely red carts:goodvibes

http://inlinethumb43.webshots.com/36074/2083214100035489037S425x425Q85.jpg (http://travel.webshots.com/photo/2083214100035489037ZYrBtc)

I had the deep fryer out for the first time in years. "What could we fry?". Well why not try our hand at Churros? These turned out to be the funniest, punniest little things but darn if they didn't "taste like Disney." Had to share our little triumph.

DH and I had the conversation regarding MNSSHP and my concern about his heavy costume. I mean it has fur on it!
Check him out in the back row. Our house haunt last year was a twisted Alice in Wonderland theme

We have started putting together an Indiana look for him sans the leather jacket though. It will be casual and comfortable. He's happy. I'm happy. Hey that never happens!

I envy those who just wing trips but the planner in me; OK, aka the worrier in me needs to see things in print.

We checked the Ferry Schedules for our departure day (to head to Seatac airport). Sunday in the slow season means first ferry is not until 10:15. Jenn & I envisioned having to wait a couple of hours for the next one and then a wait at the border with Sunday shoppers heading south.

So BC Ferry Corp just made the extra $15 dollar off me to secure a reservation. Watch it now sail half empty!

Back from the doctor today. Foot is looking like it is healing but my knee is worse off. Hoping I can do this trip pretty pain free....

And on the subject of pain my Disney Trip purchase of the day is: Body Glide ($12.95 canadian).
I bought a stick of Body Glide at my local Running Store. It is a non greasy body lubricant to stop rubbing & chafing that causes blisters on feet, in the cleavage on legs...
its going to be our hot weather friend.

Excitement is pallatible and our bodies sensing this must go into panic mode and biologically speaking; fail us!

Yes we are two weeks out and with every trip we book this is the time that we become our pharmacists most dedicated customers. Three days ago I woke up with half of my head congested. Boom* just like that. Four of my travelling party followed suit. All of us are immediatly on Cold FX and vitamin C.

Booster juice has become my lunch ritual "Scuse me can you double that immunity booster and throw in a shot of wheat juice" hmm yumm:headache::drinking1

I really think we are making headway and will not be dealing with congestion on our flight. Better now then later. We will not be one of those families relagated to sleeping away our vacation in our resort room....please:worship:

14 DAYS..YEAH!

actually 13 days, 10 hours, 26 minutes...
DH and I went shopping for the remaining pieces of his MNSSHP costume. I am happy to see him "getting into it" now. He was the one who insisted that his sandals would not be in charactor for his Indy costume and he needed to buy brown shoes. We watched the third Indiana Jones movie tonight and laughed because he really does resemble Indy's dad, Dr Henry Jones. Sorry for the blurry pic

DD11 has naturally curly hair and after reading so many posts of curly girls fighting sproinging hair in the humidity we decided to make an appointment a couple of days prior to departure and have her hair cornrowed. She is stoked to be eliminating the daily hair effort....ahh and I know this is going to save precious minutes towards rope drops. Win-Win!

Time to check do online check in at The Pop which means.....

10DAYS LEFT

We pre paid our photopass two days ago because we were sooo happy with all the pics we ended up with from Disneyland last time. So many of them ended up on my digital photoframe.

I kept busy last weekend designing a couple more tshirts and MNSSHP trick or treat bags. What am I going to do with the rest of the time?!:confused3

I got ready for work this morning then with coffee in hand and the purpose of getting to the "My Vacation" tab of the WD site sat at the computer . Tinkerbell appeared and made a magical "tinkle" and I actually Tee-Hee'd. Did that really come from my mouth?
I am so thrilled to be in the double digits though oddly I seem to be going through bouts of depression during down times. I really see it as having nothing else left to plan and I am at a loss until departure time.

Enough wallowing though....we are officially pre-checked into the Pop Century YEAH!!!!!! 8 days...23 hours...57 min till departure.

Oh, my god, I can remember the excitement level at our house when we pre-checked in and were only 10 days out. I felt the SAME way you did with not having anything else to plan or do to get ready and I was getting very agitated, I was just ready to go and did not want to wait any longer. But, of course you have to and you'll make it, it will drag by but when the time comes it will feel like you just booked your trip!!!

Love all of the stuff you bought and made for Disney!! Love little wall-e with the dog. We have the same wall-e, my dd5 LOVES him and got him for her bday. We even have the remote controlled one!!!

I love all of your pins too. This past May was our first trip, so we only had a few each, but I am definitely going to be gathering a bunch more up for our next trip. My girls LOVED the pin trading.

It is nice to know I don't have these feelings alone.
I am still this far out from the trip and thinking about the end of it. I think the key is just to stay busy with other "stuff" in the meantime. Mind you one of my co-workers who is "employed by Disney" just called and told me that Disney is no going to be cruising Vancouver to Alaska next year- garwshh thats right on our doorstep!

I hope you have a great time planning your second trip. I agree that the pin trading is a great way to slow down and take everything in.

Just a hair over 6 days to go.

To keep busy we spent the day geocaching using DH new Iphone. Nice to know we will not need to pack the the GPS' to do the virtuals in the parks.

Jenn and I found a new REALLY handy ipod app that gives transportation options within WDW. Just type in starting point and destination and it gives the different options and approx travel times. The app was called OLP WDW Transportation Wiz iPhone App .

Well now only five work days stand between me and my much needed mental break. I can do this.....

OMG this week is crawling and made worse by all my co-workers constantly saying "how many more sleeps?" . Gotta love that they want to share my excitment but work is where I am taking my mind off the wait. Well only three more shifts to go.

Packing is officially done except for last minute toiletries. For the three of us we are taking two large checked bags and three carry ons. I have purposefully left lots of room for all the disney swag that I tell myself we don't need. I am so prepared for departure it's scary:crazy2:

Oh, my god, you must be SO excited!! Great job having everything packed!! I love the feeling after you get everything packed. It's such a job.
My co-workers do the same thing with me. When we went in May they would tell me how many more days I had left to wait. They didn't have to ask, they were counting down right with me and knew. So fun, I cannot wait until my trip gets closer.
