I have already rented DVC points from a friend for OKW resort in June 2010; but we thought it would be fun to arrive a couple of days early, tent camp and explore FW. In fact, we might not even do the parks those days and instead hang out at the new pool, bike ride, etc. I always felt like we missed out by not trying out FW - is this a good idea? Thanks!

Absolutely!!!! We go a couple time a year and have always stayed in FW. There are many days we do not visit the parks even though we have annual passes (AP). There's plenty to do as you can see in other threads in this forum.

I can't think of a better place anywhere for a novice to try out camping!

I know of lots of folks who simply bought a tent and some basic camping equipment, and had the time of their lives at the Fort!

With all of the amenities at the Fort, it is probably the most comfortable camping experience anyone could ever have.
