I have three Disney Dollar certificates each worth $100. Can I send these in to be applied to the cost of my resort room? I may do that or just hand them over to the front desk upon checkin?

Disney Dollars are just like cash. I would not send $300 in cash through the mail. My advice is to hand them over at check in if you want them applied to the cost of your room (or to your "incidental" charges to your room). Enjoy your trip!

I wouldn't advise sending them in the mail.

I had saved up a ton of DD on our last trip and when we checked in I just gave them to the girl and asked her to apply them to my account. I had already paid for our room so they were used for my food charges, etc. That way I could just use my room key for charging and didn't have to carry around all the DD. Worked great!

I'm a little confused as to how you could have three certificates each worth $100 Disney Dollars. Disney Dollars are just like cash, and come in denominations of $1, $5 and $10. There is no $100 denomination. Could you be talking about a gift card? Or maybe I'm just missing something here.

I agree. You had best check out these certificates that you have. Disney Store no longer sells paper certificates (they are plastic cards now), but these (and the cards) are only for the store/cataloge/online. Disney Dollars are similar to regular cash, and come in $1, $5 and $10, as perviously stated.

Does anyone know if you can used Disney Store Gift Cards to buy Disney Dollars? I don't see Disney Dollars for sale online at the store, but I do see the cards.
The reason being, if friends who don't live near a DS can get us cards instead, can we go to the local DS and use the card for D$?

Not sure- I have read that people have and have not been able to do this so it may depend on your store or who is working in your store that particular day.

I have used a gift card to purchase Disney Dollars on two occasions. Both times, the clerk asked the manager if it could be done, and the manager said yes. The gift cards I had only said that they could not be redeemed for cash or for another gift card. (look at the fine print on the back)
Others, however, have tried this and been denied.
Good luck!

It may be that the Merchandise Credit card says you can only use it to purchase merchandise, not disney dollars, and the gift card does not say that. That is a guess on my part, but may be correct.

Checked last night - the merchandise credit card says good towards merchandise only. the Pooh gift card I looked at said you could not use it to buy another gift card.
When they had the paper gift certificates, you could not use them to buy Disney Dollars, either.

I was just wondering if you can purchase the Disney Dollars thru the mail or only when at Disney. I would like to start now and purchase some every month so I can have more money to spend while there. :smooth:
Thanks.

You can purchase Disney Dollars at The Disney Stores. Keep in mind that DD can be exchanged for cash by the bearer, so be sure to store them in a very safe place! :D

I e-mailed customer service on the DS online site. The official word is that you can not use the gift card for disney dollars.

Thanks alot for checking. When I emailed them I only received a computer generated reply that had nothing to do with my original question.:D

I'm planning on buying some Disney $$ before we leave for our trip also. I was planning on about $200-300...same type of thinking, I won't have to carry a lot of cash... but after reading some of the posts... they're same AS cash..... I'm learning SO much from these boards!! I'll have to store them in a SAFE place so I don't lose them!!
thanks everyone for all your suggestions. :p
