Ok. My WDW obsession has gotten to the point where my family has started placing bets on how long I can go in a conversation before mentioning Disney. So I figure a PTR is a good outlet for all of my WDW excitement and maybe, just maybe, I'll get it all out online so I can stop driving my family crazy!

So not only is this my very first PTR ever, it's also my very first trip to WDW! In fact, I've never even been to Florida!

I've been to Disneyland, but only once in the past decade. And even then I've never been to California Adventure.

Getting ready for my September trip to the World with The Boyfriend has been a magical adventure full of excitement and wonder! I plan to share this adventure with all of you wonderful DISers in the form of PTR! So be sure to come back often for many more exciting updates along with plenty of photos!

Time to introduce the cast! Starting with yours truly...

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/Me.jpg

My name is Lindsay and I'm 23 years old. I was born in San Diego, but moved to North Carolina when I was 7, which is where I currently reside (in the Triangle for those who were wondering.) I'm a freelance photographer, professional dog-walker and pet sitter, and I run my own nonprofit. In my spare time I volunteer with local animal rescues and shelters, decorate cakes, read my Kindle, collect cameras and make gel candles.

I will be traveling to WDW with...

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/Chris.jpg

The Boyfriend. AKA Chris. He is 24 years old. He works for a software company and is an independent video game developer. In his spare time, he enjoys playing video games.

We've been together for 3 years. This is our first vacation together as a couple... alone. We went to the beach a few years ago, but we stayed with his parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He used to live in Florida, so he's been to WDW many times. But he hasn't been since 1999. So this will be his first trip as an adult! And since he has 4 younger siblings, our trip will be an entirely different WDW experience for him. He's looking forward to it, but not nearly as much as I am! (Well, if he is, he certainly isn't showing it the way I am!)

The two of us as a team have never lost a game of Disney Scene-It. We've never tried playing against each other, but if we did he'd probably win... but only because he's faster at shouting out answers than I am!

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/MeAndChris.jpg

And we're the only ones going! We'll be leaving behind our furbabies...

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/Rosie.jpg

Our dog Rosie. We adopted her a year ago. She's a lovable mutt! She's not the brightest crayon in the box, but she sure is full of personality! She's 2 (we think... she was a stray) and she loves eating peanut butter and chasing squirrels. She's very friendly and loves everybody! She'll be staying with The Boyfriend's mom while we're in WDW.

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/Family.jpg

Our Happy Family!

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/Mouse.jpg

My mouse Ianto. I adopted him last year from a rodent rescue group that saved him from an animal shelter where he was dumped. He enjoys running in his wheel, sitting on my shoulder, and nibbling on carrots. He'll be staying with my parents while we're in WDW.

My family also won't be traveling with us, but they are fun people who will definitely be mentioned throughout the PTR and TR. So they are...

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/Parents.jpg

The Parents. They'd probably be mad if I posted their ages, so I'll leave it at "Old Enough To Have A 23 Year Old Daughter". My mom has never been to WDW either. My dad went once or twice as a young child. They've been to Disneyland many times. They even went once as friends before they started dating, and that's when my dad says he first started to fall in love with her! They've been happily married for 27 years! My dad is an accountant. My mom used to be a professional photographer for many years, but now works as a photo editor and graphic artist. They are big fans of the tv shows Lost and Doctor Who.

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/Justin.jpg

My brother Justin. He's 21. He is currently in film school. He just finished up a summer film internship at Troma Entertainment. When he's not making films, he's usually working at a bakery or spending time with his girlfriend. He also has never been to WDW.

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/Jack.jpg

The family dog Jack. He's a 2 year old German Shepherd. His favorite thing in the world is a laser pointer. When he's not chasing the red dot around, he's usually sitting on the floor staring at the laser pointer waiting for someone to come play with him.

Now that you've gotten to know the WHO of the trip, my next installments will be all about the WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY and HOW of the trip.

So ages ago I was talking with The Boyfriend's mom and I mentioned that I'd never been to WDW. She demanded that her son take me right then and there! She also mentioned that early September was her favorite time to go, and that sort of stuck in my head.

The Boyfriend and I discussed going to WDW several times in the past, but no actual plans to go ever resulted from these discussions.

Then at the end of June of this year, we got in a conversation about theme parks. He told me about all of his favorite rides, and we both got very excited about the idea of going to a theme park. He mentioned that he had a bunch of vacation days at work, so that if I could do some research and find out how much it cost, we could work something out. I ran over to my laptop and started researching that very minute!

The first thing I wanted to research was what park. I know he loves big, scary roller coasters and thrill rides, and his favorite parks are the Universal Studios parks so that was the first place I looked. I am a major wuss and most rides terrify me. So I wanted to make sure there would be something there I'd actually be willing to ride! I started researching the Universal attractions, and found quite a few rides that looked like a lot of fun that I'd really enjoy. So then I started researching prices for theme park tickets and hotel rates.

Not too long later, we went out to dinner. In the car, I started telling him about what I'd learned in my research about Universal. As I was going on and on and on, he interrupted and said, "No, you'd be happier at Disney. Let's go to Disney." And I argued that he'd be happier at Universal and I wanted him to enjoy the trip. And he said he'd enjoy the trip no matter where we went, and I said I'd enjoy the trip no matter where we went. So we agreed that I'd do some comparison research.

After dinner, I jumped on my laptop and started looking at WDW! There was a point when I was thinking maybe we could do both WDW and Universal, but after looking at ticket prices that was completely out of the question!

Pretty soon I discovered that WDW had free transportation if we stayed at a Disney resort hotel. The prices of the Value Resorts weren't that much more expensive than the hotels I was looking at when we were considering Universal. And we agreed that the extra cost was definitely worth it considering we'd have transportation to and from the airport, between our hotel and the theme parks, and there was plenty of dining options at WDW.

We're both under 25, so any car rental company that would even allow us to rent a car would charge an "under 25" fee. Plus renting a car was just a hassle that neither of us wanted to deal with. And driving to Orlando wasn't an option since neither of us wanted to be in a car for 10 hours.

So it was settled! If we'd be taking a trip this year, we'd be going to WDW! Now we just had to figure out if we could afford it...

Coming Up Next... The Potential Trip Planning Begins!

Once we had an idea for our trip, we still had to figure out if it was doable or not. And to figure out if it was doable, we had to have a potential plan.

Pretty much our conversation went like:

Me: Your mom suggested we go in September, does that sound good to you?
The Boyfriend: Ok
Me: How long do you want to stay?
The Boyfriend: I dunno
Me: Does a week sound good?
The Boyfriend: Ok

Gee, thanks for being so helpful! Men, I swear! :rolleyes2 Clearly all of the planning was going to be left up to me!

So a week long trip it was! I looked at the September calendar and thought leaving on Thursday September 10th and returning on September 16th looked good. That would give us 5 full days plus 2 travel days. I figured we could do 1 day at each park, then 1 day at a water park. Also, The Boyfriend mentioned that he's never been to DisneyQuest and he really wanted to go. So if we got the Water Park Fun & More option, then we could do DQ as well!

Where would we be staying? That's easy... Pop Century for sure!!! I am a huge pop culture freak and I absolutely freaked out the first time I saw photos of POP online!! I never even bothered looking at the All Stars.

While looking at hotel photos online, we briefly considered doing a shorter vacation and staying at a moderate resort. But then we realized if we'd be staying less days, we'd want to be spending more time at the parks and end up spending less time at the hotel... so why pay more for a hotel you'll be spending less time at? So a value resort it was! (Which I was so in love with POP I think I'd rather stay there than a moderate resort anyway! Of course, if I had my choice and money wasn't an issue, I'd be staying at the Contemporary!)

Now that I had a plan, time to research prices! I presented The Boyfriend with a ballpark figure of exactly how much it was going to cost us. He looked at the figures and told me that he couldn't afford it. :sad1:

I quickly accepted the fact that I was not going to Disney. In my mind I started coming up with places much closer to us that we could stay at for shorter periods of time that would be much less expensive. I watched as that Disney dream started floating further and further away.

Then The Boyfriend suggests we forget about the Water Park Fun & More option, don't do DQ, and cut the trip a day short. We recalculate the costs and he says, "This is much more doable."

What?? I'm going to WDW?? For real?? :yay:

I'm completely fine with the new trip plan! We'll just do the water parks and DQ on some future trip!

Now that our trip consisted of 4 park days and 2 travel days, I decided to rethink our travel dates. I thought about doing the parks Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to avoid weekend crowds. That would mean we'd fly down there Sunday and fly back on Friday. Since The Boyfriend works Mon-Fri, that would give us all day Saturday to pack and prepare. Then we'd have that Saturday and Sunday when we get back to rest and recuperate before he had to return to work on Monday.

We had a plan! And dates! September 13th-18th!

The Boyfriend said he'd ask for those dates off work and if he got them, we'd be going. If not, then well, back to square 1.

Bright and early the next morning The Boyfriend sends me an IM saying his vacation request was approved!!!!! We're going to Disney!!!!!!

The very first thing we decided to do was book a hotel. I did very thorough research on hotels, vacation packages, etc. We decided that for our situation, it would be best if we booked everything separately instead of getting a vacation package.

I'm a AAA member, and I found the best price on our hotel room would be booking through AAA. I chose to book online for convenience. I got all ready to book our room at POP, went to submit, and got a notice that there were no available rooms at POP for our dates!

Nooooo! I'd had my heart set on POP! Oh well, I was still going to WDW and nothing could bring me down! So I booked at ASMu instead.

I'd never even looked at the All Stars, since I was so set on POP. So after booking the hotel room, I went online to look at pictures. That definitely cheered me up, and I started to get very excited about staying at ASMu!

We had a hotel room! It was official! This trip was really happening! Time to go into full planning mode!

First matter of business, which park which day. Since we were staying on-site, I really wanted to take advantage of EMHs. I looked at the calendar and ta-da! It all fell into place.

Mon Sept 14 Hollywood Studios
Tues Sept 15 Epcot
Wed Sept 16 Animal Kingdom
Thurs Sept 17 Magic Kingdom

Second matter of business, where to eat. And that's when I learned about ADRs. Oh boy. If we wanted to eat at a sit down restaurant, we'd need to decide now! I explained this to The Boyfriend and he said, "It's up to you. You decide where to eat, you make the reservations, and I'll eat wherever." I asked him, "Really? There's no where you really want to eat?" There wasn't. Well that made things significantly easier!

The only restaurant I absolutely had my heart set on was Sci-Fi. So I went online to make my reservation and.... it was all booked up!!!!!! More crushing disappointment! But I couldn't be that sad since I was still going to WDW! It didn't matter where I stayed or where I ate, I just wanted to go! Plus, now I had two good reasons to go back to WDW in the future- to stay at POP and eat at Sci Fi!

I wanted to make just one reservation somewhere during our trip, so I went with Tony's Town Square for lunch.... since I love Lady and the Tramp.

I still continued to check Sci Fi every day to see if there were any openings. And sure enough... 5 days later... there was a lunch opening at Sci Fi!!! I didn't believe it! I thought I was dreaming! :yay:

So yes, now I have reservations at Sci Fi on Monday and Tony's on Thursday! And the rest of our meals will be counter service! (Even though we're staying during free dining, we still didn't want to do any dining plans for this trip.)

The rest of the planning just sort of flew by! It all happened so quick! We booked our flight! We got our DME reservation! Then we finally got our theme park tickets! (Before the prices went up!) And now we are all set!

From here on out it's all just minor stuff. What to pack, what to do over the next month and a half so I don't go crazy with excitement, etc.

He got them!!!! We're going!!!

After I made all my reservations, I thought, "Oh yah... I should put the dates in at my job too...." My job doesn't offer paid vacation, but we still need to put in when we'll be out of town. But at my job any vacation time you put in is pretty much automatically approved. His job was the one we were concerned about since they may or may not let employees get days off. But he got his days, and I got my days and we are all good to go!

That is really sweet that he suggested Disney for you!! I have been to Universal a few times. It is nice but not Disney. I didn't go on any real thrill rides because I just don't do those! But the ones I did go on were fun. Universal always seems to have a deal. The first time I went I was on a solo trip to Disney. I was at a convention and was staying at a hotel on Disney property but not a Disney resort (near DTD). They offered buses to the parks and also Universal. The next trip I took with my brother's family and we drove so we could drive to Universal. As we were standing at the ticket counter figuring out how much it was going to cost for the 6 of us to get in a family came up to us and said they had three tickets to give away. Score! That was a stroke of luck!!

You'll have plenty to do at Disney!! I am enjoying reading about your plans!!

That is smart thinking! On a shorter trip you wouldn't be spending a whole lot of time in your room. I took a quick, short trip one time so I wanted a value hotel. ASMu was booked so we ended up at ASSp. We hardly spent any time at all in the room except to crash at night. It was not bad at all!

I'd still like to go to Universal one day. Preferably after the Harry Potter attraction opens!!! My brother LOVES scary thrill rides, and his girlfriend is terrified of them and won't go on them! So maybe we could do a joint trip sometime. The boys can go on the big scary rides while the girls do something less scary... like shop!

You tell your BF "Of course I am going to take food pictures", and that he can't eat until you get a picture of his food too!:rotfl2: Drives my DH crazy but he likes it when he can remember what he ate later!

We did Tony's last year and really enjoyed it!!!

Congrats on your BF getting his vacation!!!:woohoo:

I'd still like to go to Universal one day. Preferably after the Harry Potter attraction opens!!! My brother LOVES scary thrill rides, and his girlfriend is terrified of them and won't go on them! So maybe we could do a joint trip sometime. The boys can go on the big scary rides while the girls do something less scary... like shop!

That sounds like a GREAT plan!! :thumbsup2

Most people hate to fly, but I love it!

This would be me. :sad2: I used to love flying but then like a switch went off in my head I now have a phobia about it! Go figure! :confused3 Glad to hear your flight plans aren't changing anything too important--like getting to WDW!!

I know that after I read some of the dining reports and look at the pictures I want to eat food I never would have considered in the past!! So, snap away! I need the food porn! So here's what I'm thinking for our trip:

Sunday:

Wake up really, really, really early.
Cinnabon for breakfast! (I always like to do a special breakfast before I travel. And so I asked The Boyfriend what his favorite breakfast is and he said, "Cinnabon!!!")
Drive to my parents' house in my car. (They live really close to the airport and don't mind giving us a ride there at 5 am!)
Leave my car at my parents' house and get a ride with them to the airport.
Listen to my iPod and play my Nintendo DS on the plane. The Boyfriend plans on sleeping.
Change planes in Atlanta
Arrive in Orlando!!!!
Take DME to ASMu
Hopefully check into our room.
Lunch at ASMu Food Court
Check out ASMu gift shop
Head to DTD and SHOP!!!
Dinner at either DTD or Boardwalk
Then the rest of the night is open to whatever- DTD, hanging out at the hotel pool, checking out some of the other resorts, going out for a drink... I dunno. Whatever we're in the mood for.
SLEEP!

Monday:

Wake up early
Breakfast at ASMu food court
Get to HS before 9am
Lunch at SciFi
Dinner at Toy Story Pizza Planet

Must See Attractions at HS:

Tower of Terror
Star Tours
Rock n Roller Coaster
The Great Movie Ride
Toy Story Mania

Again, evening plans are up in the air. We could stay at the park till close if we really want. Or head back to the hotel once we've done everything we want to do.
SLEEP

Tuesday:

Wake up early
Breakfast at ASMu food court
Get to Epcot before 8am
Lunch and Dinner wherever we feel like eating
I want a Fiesta Margarita from Mexico, a Welsh Dragon from the UK, and a Grey Goose Citron Lemonade Slush from France

Must See Attractions at Epcot:

Soarin'
Test Track
Spaceship Earth
Maelstrom

Again evening plans are up in the air, though I'd really like to see Illuminations
SLEEP

Wednesday:

Wake up early
Breakfast at ASMu food court
Get to AK before 9am
Lunch and Dinner wherever we feel like

Must See Attractions at AK:

Kilimanjaro Safari
Primeval Whirl
Expedition Everest

Kali River Rapids

Evening plans: Monorail drinking tour!!!
SLEEP

Thursday:

Must See Attractions at MK:

Evening plans are once again up in the air, though I'd like to see SpectroMagic
SLEEP

Friday:

Again listen to my iPod and play my Nintendo DS on the plane. And again The Boyfriend will probably sleep
Change planes in Atlanta
Arrive home
Get ride with my parents' back to their house
Take my car back home
Be greeted enthusiastically by our dog Rosie

So yup, that's what I'm thinking.

It's been a few days since I updated my PTR! I've just been insanely busy! I've been getting tons of pet sitting gigs lately! Last night I had to do walks for four different dogs! I walked one dog, got in my car and drove to the next house, walked that dog, got in my car and drove to the next house, and so on. At the end I'd done so much walking that I was thinking to myself, "Why do I want to go to WDW again?" I just wanted to sit down for very long periods of time!

But on the plus side, with all these extra pet sitting gigs I've been getting lately means that I can increase my Booze Budget for WDW! Lapu Lapu here I come! :drinking1

Also, I had a Yard Sale yesterday!!!

Hi  joining in on your report. Sounds like you have a good plan started. Congrats on the extra drinking money. I plan to drink my way through World Showcase (I am so thankful for disney transportation)

BTW your dog Rosie is adorable. I also have two cats that are not very bright but the most loveable animals you will ever meet.

I don't think I'll be able to get a drink from every country on this trip! But maybe on a future trip I could set aside a few days for drinking at Epcot!!!

Haha! At first I thought the main benefit of Disney Transportation was not having to pay to rent a car! Then I saw this thread (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1183926) and I realized the true benefit of Disney Transportation!!!

Aww, thank you! I definitely feel that not being very bright adds to their charm! Besides, who really wants a pet that can outsmart you?

I have never ridden on Splash Mountain. Going to Disneyland as a child, I was always way too scared. When I went back to Disneyland in 2007, I had one goal- to ride Splash Mountain.

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/SplashMountain.jpg

When I got there and saw the ride, I chickened out!

So my goal for this trip is to get up the nerve to ride Splash Mountain! The Boyfriend is 100% convinced that I will chicken out again. I want to prove to him and everyone else that I can do it!

I'm pretty disappointed that they don't serve alcohol at MK. I know I'd be able to get on this ride if I was good and liquored up! But alas, I'll be facing my fear completely sober! :scared:

(Maybe if the monorail line isn't too long I can hop on over to one of the resorts and grab a drink!)

I am so ready for this trip! It's over a month away and I've already started packing my suitcase! I haven't packed very much yet. Just a hat, a rain poncho and my bathing suit.

Since the airlines now charge $25 to check your bags, The Boyfriend and I have decided we are going to take all of our luggage on carry-on! It's been a bit of a challenge planning because all of our liquids have to be in containers less than 3 oz all in 1 quart bags. But I think it's definitely worth it to save $25! Plus, we don't have to worry about losing our luggage!

An added bonus is that this limits the souvenirs I can buy on my trip which will save me money on stuff I really don't need!

I went through all of my many suitcases and duffel bags and found the perfect bag for my trip:

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/Luggage.jpg

It meets the airline size requirements (I just have to worry about keeping the weight under 40 lbs...) and I like that it has a lot of side compartments so my iPod and camera and Nintendo DS can be in quick reach on the plane!

So... very exciting news! My DME packet came in the mail yesterday!!! I literally started jumping up and down screaming when I saw the envelope!

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/DME.jpg

I was pretty happy to see those yellow luggage tags... even though I won't be using them since all of our luggage will be carry-on. But I do plan on making a vacation scrapbook when I return, so I plan on saving them to put in the scrapbook! I've never made a scrapbook before, so I'm very excited about this!

So last night The Boyfriend and I went out for drinks. And of course the conversation drifted towards our upcoming WDW vacation! Now that it's getting closer, he's starting to get a lot more excited about it! He even mentioned wanting to go to WDW again next year! And he said that depending on our financial situation, we might even stay at a Deluxe Resort! :faint: (I want to stay at either the Polynesian or the Contemporary. He wants to stay at AKL. So on this upcoming trip we're planning on checking out some of the Deluxes to decide where to stay!) And if we do a 2010 trip, we'll probably also spend some time at Universal. I'm really excited about the Harry Potter attraction! But we should probably get through this trip first before planning our next trip!

I'm just completely shocked! Not too long ago I mentioned that I was already thinking of things I wanted to do at WDW that we weren't going to be able to fit into this trip that I'd like to save for the next trip. He groaned at my obsession and complained, "Are you going to be one of those people that saves up money every year just to go to Disney and never wants to go anywhere else?" And now he's excited about going again as early as next year! Hmmm... at this rate it shouldn't be too difficult to convince him into a DVC membership at some point in the future...

It helps if you do a joint yard sale with other people! Ours was a whole neighborhood-wide sale so there were lots of us out there with our junk! Also, because there were so many different houses participating, we were able to split up a bunch of the preparation work like advertising and posting up signs and stuff.

If you're still nervous about doing one (especially by yourself) a lot of non-profit charities often hold yard sales to raise money for their cause. So to get rid of your junk, you could donate it to them. You wouldn't get any money, but you could write off your donation on your taxes! And you'd be helping out an important cause!

I've never been on Space Mountain either. I got in line for it last time I was at Disneyland, but then the ride broke down for a bit, and I didn't feel like waiting around much longer so I went and did something else. But yeah, I'm a little bit nervous about Space Mountain, but no where near as nervous as I am about Splash Mountain! I also plan on riding Tower of Terror, Rock n Roller Coaster, and Expedition Everest... which I'm all nervous about... but still, I'm most nervous and scared about Splash Mountain! I'm gonna do it though!

So, while starting to pack and thinking about what to pack I had a very important decision I needed to make. What camera (or cameras!) should I bring. For most people, this isn't that tough of a decision to make, but here are all of the cameras I currently own:

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/Cameras.jpg

(If anyone is wondering how I took this picture, I borrowed my mom's camera!)

The first step is to decide film, digital or both. As fun as it would be to bring one of my Dianas or my Holga to WDW, I realized I didn't really want to deal with film. I still have dozens of exposed rolls of film that I haven't yet gotten around to developing, so I figured I didn't need to add any more at this time. So digital it was!

That narrows it down to:

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/digital.jpg

Now, the camera I use the most is my Nikon D300. It's the biggest, heaviest and most expensive camera I own. I would LOVE to have that at WDW as I could get the best photos from using it. It would be especially great for shooting fireworks and at AK (since I have a nice telephoto lens for it).

On the downside, it would be pretty miserable carrying it around WDW for 5 days. Plus I'd worry a lot about it getting broken or stolen or having something happen to it. Additionally, my camera bag would have to be my carry-on which would mean I'd need to check my luggage and pay that extra $25.

So all in all, it felt best to leave that one at home.

I really didn't want to carry much at WDW. My plan for the trip is to do no backpacks and not carry anything, and just keep what I need in my pockets. So I decided to go with a camera that would fit in my pocket.

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/Cameras2.jpg

So I'm bringing along my Sony Cybershot T70. And in case it gets lost, broken, stolen, I run out of memory, or the battery dies (it takes a special rechargeable battery... you can't use AAs with it) I'm bringing along my Nikon Coolpix L6 as a back up!

Yes, I won't get nearly as nice of photos as I would with my D300, but I'm not there to take pictures! I'm there to go on rides and and have fun!

Hahaha, I just got a text message from my mom telling me that there's one of those Travel Channel programs about WDW on tv right now! I just set it to record on my DVR! I love to watch those! And I have not watched one since I started planning my WDW trip, so this will be extra exciting for me since I will be there 1 month from tomorrow!!!!!!!

I went to the Dollar Store today to get a few things for the trip! I remember them having a very cool Disney section with lots of Mickey Mouse, Disney Princess and Pirates of the Caribbean merchandise. When I went to check it out today, it was entirely Hannah Montana and High School Musical! I was pretty disappointed.

Less than 1 month till my trip!!!

Here's what I've been reading lately in excitement for my WDW vacation:

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/AAABook.jpg

My AAA WDW book! It doesn't have a lot of information that I didn't already know, but I still love to look at the pictures!

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/BookOutside.jpg

I picked up this book in the Free Section of EdMcKay's Used Book Store a few years ago (which is why it has that big black mark on the cover.) It was published in the 60's and as the cover states, it contains 55 short stories adapted from Disney films.

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/BookInside.jpg

I've been reading a couple stories from it every night before I go to bed! It definitely brings back memories from my childhood!

It's not Disney, but it is about vacations! This was one of my favorite books as a child! And now as an adult, I like to read it before going on vacation!

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/PandaEnd.jpg

My favorite part of the book is at the end when the pandas are going home with all of their souvenirs!

Reading this book before my trip to WDW is especially exciting! Because like the pandas I'm going to:

Ride a Monorail! And...

So yesterday while browsing DISboards, I read a post about Pick A Pearl locations at Disney. I was immediately intrigued and spent several hours researching and reading about Pick A Pearl.

I have to do this!!! How did I not learn about this sooner?????

I did a little bit of shopping for my trip over the weekend! I got some 3 oz containers for sunscreen, a Benadryl Itch Stick, a 3 oz bottle of lotion, and a pair of sunglasses.

In exactly one month from today, my Disney trip will be over and I'll be on an airplane back home!

Yeah, I'll be sad when my trip is over. But I'm really excited about sharing the photos I take and telling everyone about my trip! And I plan on making a scrapbook, so I'm really looking forward to that!

In building up excitement for my trip, I have raided The Boyfriend's DVD collection and grabbed all his Disney movies.

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/DVDs.jpg

Once I get through watching all of these, I'll be getting out the DVDs from my own Disney collection!

I started out my little Disney Movie Marathon by watching:

With every PTR that I read, I swear I just end up getting more and more excited! YAY for less then four weeks!! :thumbsup2

I could NOT agree with you more. As soon as Harry Potter opens in Universal, I'm hopping right back on a plane. I don't care if I have to go myself! Though...thinking about it - I will have to be by myself...no one's brave enough to come with me, since I'm the ULTIMATE Harry Potter geek.

The ADR's look great!! I'm SO glad that you got the ressie you wanted at the Sci-Fi; we're having trouble getting something there, or at the 50's Prime Time, but you proved that searching every day pays off!

We've started our 'countdown to the trip' excitement this past weekend. My son's been busy decorating the envelopes for Mousekeeping - and we've been watching movies and reading books. That one you posted looks great! I've never seen it before, but we do have a few of the newer ones with the condensed newest Disney stories.

I'm totally subbing this PTR!! I can't wait to hear all about your planning...plans. Especially since you're another HP/packing way too early/Pick A Pearl/First timer in September!

Ooh! I hope you're able to get something at Sci Fi and/or 50's Prime Time! I won't be going to 50's Prime Time, but I do plan on stopping by the Tune-In Lounge! I know you can order off the 50's Prime Time menu at the Tune-In Lounge, but I don't know if you can use dining plan credits there.

More Mickey Mail arrived yesterday!!! I got my Vacation Planning DVD!

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/DVD.jpg

The Boyfriend and I watched it together! He gave me a hard time for watching it, saying that I wouldn't learn anything new from it. Which is true, but it's still very exciting to see all these attractions I've been reading so much about! And it was also helpful to watch it together so we could say thins like, "Ooh! I wanna go on that!" or "Nah, I have no desire to see that." for each attraction. We realized that we're pretty much on the same page about everything.

So far in my planning I really haven't put a lot of thought into the rides and attractions at the parks. I've spent most of my time figuring out what we need to pack, where we're eating, what days we're going to what parks, etc. So today I finally checked out the closings and rehabs for when we're there. And I made notes of what won't be open.

I love my boyfriend!!! I've been so excited about getting drinks with glow cubes at WDW. So yesterday when he came home from work, he had a present for me!

Because I'm just sooo excited about my upcoming WDW trip, today I attempted to make Mickey Mouse pancakes (with M&Ms!) for breakfast:

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/pancakes.jpg

I am also very happy to report that I am DONE with all of my pre-trip shopping! Yesterday I bought the last few items I needed!

The Boyfriend has been giving me a hard time about all this pre-trip shopping and planning I've been doing. He plans on just throwing a couple changes of clothes into a bag before heading off the airport that morning. Then buying whatever he needs there... or just doing without. (He said that blisters and sunburn are just "part of the vacation experience" :sad2: He also loves to complain, so I think he actually wants to get sunburned just so he'll have something to complain about!)

Here's a list of the stuff I bought for the trip:

1 Quart Plastic Bags for liquids
3 oz plastic containers for sunscreen
3 oz container of lotion
3 oz container of bug spray
3 oz container of Ben Gay
Benadryl Anti-Itch Stick
Body Glide
Sunglasses
Aspirin
Benadryl
Imodium
Facial Wipes

I think that's all I bought. Everything else I need I already have!

Last night I went ahead and packed the clothes I'll be wearing for the trip. I know it's 3 weeks away, but I've already picked out the outfits I want to wear and I don't want anything to happen to them between now and then! One of the shirts I'd originally planned on wearing on my trip I wore the other day and I spilled on it! I immediately washed it and have washed it a few more times since then, but unfortunately there's still a stain on it! So I had to pick out a different shirt to wear! And so now I packed all my clothes to avoid ruining any more of them before the trip!

I put the POTC soundtrack in my car this morning! It gets me good and excited every time I drive!

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/PirateCD.jpg

I also started collecting my friends' addresses so that I can send them all postcards from WDW! They're all excited about getting postcards, but I think I'm more excited about sending the postcards!

I have a dentist appointment tomorrow morning. I wonder how far into the appointment I'll get before telling everyone that I'm going to Disney World!!! I'm betting it will go, "How are you this morning?" "I'm going to Disney World!!!"

I went to the bank this morning and deposited more money into my account! It was a little bit annoying because it was out of my way.

See, my bank just installed new ATM machines. My mom and I have a small business together designing and selling t-shirts and stuff online on sites like Zazzle and CafePress. Well, the checks from our sales all go to her, then every month she writes me a check for half of our total earnings for the month. My parents don't like to buy checks, so they print their own checks themselves. Well, these new ATM machines can't read these checks because they're printed with regular ink while bank issued checks are printed with magnetic ink. But they will take the checks inside at the teller.

The main issue with this is that all of my bank's branches are pretty far out of my way. Except I volunteer on Sundays, and I pass right by one of my branches on my way to volunteer. Normally I'd stop at my bank either on my way to volunteer or on my way back from volunteering and put my checks in the ATM machine. But I can't do that anymore with the new ATM machines, and obviously the bank is closed on Sunday. So now I have to find a time to go when they're open and it's out of my way and it's just annoying.

But at least I have money to put in my bank account! Which a lot of people don't in this economy. So I'm trying to be less annoyed and more grateful for what I do have!

So I am currently pet sitting! I'm staying here for a week and a half taking care of the pets while the owners are on vacation. The animals are very sweet, and I'm having a great time!

The family that lives here has quite an impressive collection of Disney movies! So while I'm sitting, I've been watching their DVDs to get me more excited about my WDW trip! So far I've watched Lady and the Tramp, 101 Dalmatians, The Little Mermaid, Fantasia 2000, A Bug's Life, and Mary Poppins. And I've still got dozens more movies to watch! But... the best part is not what I get to watch, but where I watch it! The family I'm sitting for has their own private movie theater in their house!!!

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/MovieTheater6.jpg

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/MovieTheater1.jpg

I like the decorations on the wall:

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/MovieTheater4.jpg

And I can chose to sit in the theater chairs:

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/MovieTheater5.jpg

Or the super comfy bean bag style chairs:

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/MovieTheater7.jpg

The theater also has a sink, mini fridge and microwave:

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/MovieTheater2.jpg

Plus a snack bar:

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/MovieTheater3.jpg

popcorn::

So yeah, it's been pretty nice! And since they have a private movie theater in their home, you know the rest of the house is pretty nice too! It's huge! It took me days to find the laundry room! I feel like I'm on my own mini-vacation staying there! Haha, so it'll be nice to rest and relax in the lap of luxury for awhile before my real vacation where I'm on my feet all day outside in the hot Florida sun!

I can't believe my Disney trip is so soon! And my To Do List is growing longer and longer! I'm starting to wonder if I'll have enough time to get everything done before it's time to go! That's a good thing though! It will keep my busy! If I'm not busy, I'll just be staring at the clock counting down the seconds until WDW!

Ok- I admit I'm joining this party a little late, but I'm here! You sound SO excited- that is JUST how I get before a trip.
(Taking a deep breath) here goes:
1. I love your pets!!! I used to have rats for pets, so I can relate to the mouse. Does everyone say "WHY do you have a mouse? Eew." I found there were a lot of rat-haters out there. They were actually GREAT pets! They were clean & each one had their own little personality. Your dog Rosie is so adorable & the family dog is very pretty.
2. GO ON SPLASH!!! It is awesome! Even if you hate the drop, the rest of the ride is worth seeing- it is long & the drop only lasts a second.
3. I'm right there with you on the World Showcase booze! That is FUN!
4. I had no idea about the Pirates soundtrack...I am totally going out & buying one!
5. For your next trip you mentioned you would stay at Contemporary, Polynesian, or AKL. I loved them ALL. I think I like AKL for Boma, Jiko, the themimg & animals, the Polynesian for the theming, peace, and convenience, and the Contemporary for the California Grill, views, and convenience. You can't go wrong!
6. The house you are pet sitting at has my dream room- that theater room is SO cool.

So you have 11 days left- what will you do for the next 11 days???? I can guess one thing you won't be doing much of: sleeping!!! :rotfl:

Better late than never! Welcome aboard!!!

Yes, people do get freaked that I have a pet mouse! Awwww! I love rats! I actually plan on fostering rescue rats as soon as I move into a bigger place! And who knows! I may even adopt some myself! As far as small animals go, I definitely think rats make the best pets!

Oh, I'm going on Splash Mountain! Even if no one else believes me.... I have to do it though! I have to show everyone!

I heard that a new tequila bar just opened at the World Showcase last weekend! I am very excited about checking this out!

Haha, when I first walked into the theater room I said, "Oh this is it, I'm sleeping in here!" I actually haven't slept in there (but those big bean bag chairs sure are comfy enough to!) but I do spend most of my time in there! It's going to be so sad when I have to leave! But the fact that I'm going to WDW the week after definitely helps! Plus, you know, I do miss seeing my boyfriend and my family!

I think I'll be spending the next 11 days browsing DISboards non stop!

So far September is looking like a fantastic month!!! Yesterday I found out some cupcakes I made came in 2nd place in a cake decorating contest I entered them in! I won $25 and a 6 month subscription to deviantart.com... which I really needed since my current subscription expires later this month and I'm thinking I'm going to be pretty broke after Disney! So yes, I'm very excited about that! I don't often win things! It was a great way to start the month! And I know the month can only get better because... I'm going to Disney World!!!!!!

So I'm a little bit undecided about what shoes I should wear to WDW. I wear Crocs 365 days a year. And The Boyfriend and my parents give me a hard time about it. They're always telling me I need to wear "real shoes". But my Crocs are soooooo comfy!

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/Crocs.jpg

Well, originally I was planning on wearing tennis shoes to WDW since I figured I'd be doing a lot of walking.

But everything I'm reading on DISboards is recommending wearing Crocs to WDW.

I don't know. I'm undecided.

Back when I went to Disneyland in 2007, my parents strongly suggested I wear "real shoes" and not Crocs since I'd be doing a lot of walking- so I wore tennis shoes. Now I really can't remember if I was uncomfortable or not or how my feet felt at all! I guess if it was really bad I would have remembered it.

I'm leaning towards my Crocs, but I really don't know! For those of you that have been to WDW, what kind of shoes do you wear? What do you recommend?

That's right! My countdown to my trip is now in the single digits!! In just 9 days I will be at...

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd29/lindsayrdean/TR/WDW.jpg

Haha! That's a photo I took of a magnet clip thingie that belongs to the people that I'm pet sitting for. I did squeal with joy a little bit when that I first saw that! I get so giddy when I see anything WDW related... like when I'm stopped at a red light and I see the car in front of me has a Mickey Mouse antenna topper!

As this trip is getting closer and closer I keep getting more and more excited! I'm surprised I haven't had that many dreams about WDW! One night I had a dream I was drinking one of those Fiesta Margaritas from Epcot! And another night I had a dream that a friend of mine went to WDW and I was looking at her pictures from her trip. But that's been it really. Normally before a vacation I get those nightmares where I'm there but I've forgotten to pack something really really important! (Sometimes in those dreams I've forgotten to pack all together and I'm at my destination with nothing but the clothes on my back!) Haha, maybe it's because I spend so much time during my waking hours obsessing about WDW that when I'm asleep my brain is like, "Shut up about Disney already!" and chooses to think about whatever it can that is totally unrelated!

So how do I plan on obsessing about WDW today? Well, I'll probably look at more Food Porn. And I'm thinking about watching the Pirates of the Caribbean ride through on the Curse of the Black Pearl DVD!

Tonight is my last night pet sitting! I'm definitely going to miss this house! But it'll be good to see The Boyfriend again! I'd say it'll be nice to sleep in my own bed again, but the bed I have here is sooo much nicer than my own bed that I really don't miss it!

So as I mentioned in my PTR introduction, my brother is a film school student. He's currently working on his first full length film with one of his friends from film school. They're going to submit it to the film distribution company that my brother interned at over the summer and hopefully they'll pick it up! Well, my brother gave me a bit part in the movie and yesterday I filmed my scene! It was very exciting! I'm going to get my name in the credits and everything! I even had dreams about WDW last night!!! (Finally!) One dream was about eating School Bread in Epcot! And in another dream, I was at Magic Kingdom with a bunch of my friends. And we just kept riding The Haunted Mansion over and over and over again. Then finally we were all done with the ride and I asked my friends, "What do you guys want to ride next?" and they were like, "Oh, it's time for us to go home now..." and they all left! And I was a little bit mad at them for riding the same ride over and over again knowing they had to leave early!

So I'm all done pet sitting! It's nice being back home! I've missed The Boyfriend very much! I haven't seen him in over a week! I showed him our custom maps. He's definitely getting excited about the trip!

So, in one week from today we will be at... Downtown Disney! We'll be having lunch at the ASMu food court. And dinner is sort of up in the air. We may also go check out the boardwalk. And we'll probably go to the hotel pool for a bit!

According to weather.com, the weather is expected to be a low of 75 and a high of 88 that day with a 40% chance of rain.

I went to Home Depot today and got my lime green Mickey heads! The Boyfriend and I checked out all the different names for the different colors. My favorite was Bibbity Bobbity Blue!

So, in one week from today we will be at... Disney's Hollywood Studios! (The Boyfriend is having a difficult time calling it that... to him it will always be MGM.) We'll be having breakfast at the ASMu food court. We have a lunch reservation for Sci-Fi. And we're planning on having dinner at Toy Story Pizza Planet. I still really haven't decided what we'll ride first, but I'm leaning towards The Great Movie Ride. The ride I am most excited about is the Twilight Zone Tower Of Terror!

According to weather.com, the weather is expected to be a low of 74 and a high of 88 that day with a 30% chance of rain.

The wrap party for my brother's movie was last night! It was a lot of fun! I got to see a lot of my friends that I haven't seen in awhile. (My brother and I have the same group of friends.) They showed a teaser for the movie. It looks pretty good! They're estimating they'll be done with the post-production work by December! But yeah... I'm a teeny tiny bit hungover today! :rolleyes1

So, in one week from today we will be at... Epcot! We'll be having breakfast at the ASMu food court. We'll probably have lunch at Yakitori House and dinner at the Tangierine Cafe. We're planning on riding Soarin' first. And Soarin' is the ride I am most looking forward to!

According to weather.com, the weather is expected to be a low of 74 and a high of 88 that day with a 40% chance of rain.

It is so exciting isn't it that there are only mere days left until our trips. It is so much fun to think "One week from today I will be doing ...... at Disney" I love it.

I also loaded my iPod with Disney songs and have been listening to them non stop.

I hope you have fun on your trip.

I really can't believe how close the trip is!!! Haha, last Sunday I kept looking at the clock all morning and figuring out if in a week from that moment in time if I'd be at Disney yet or if I'd still be on the plane!

I hope you have fun on your trip too!

Haha, I've got a huge "To Do" list before my trip... and I start to panic every time I realize just how few days I left to do everything on that list! So I shouldn't have any trouble coming up with ways to pass the time!

His movie is a horror, violent, slasher movie. They just posted a teaser for the movie on YouTube that you can watch here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZFYVjBkpbc) I must warn you, it's pretty violent... and there's some "adult content"! They do have a joke teaser they made (with actual footage from their film) that doesn't have any blood or violence or language or any other adult content that is also on YouTube and you can watch it here (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTazfEhr9Ao) if you'd rather!

I'm about 99% sure I'll be wearing my Crocs, so I'll let you know how it goes!

I've been so productive the last couple of days! I've been crossing things off my To Do list like crazy! I've still got a lot more to do! But I'm glad! It will keep me busy the next few days!

So, in one week from today we will be at... Animal Kingdom! We'll be having breakfast at the ASMu food court. We're thinking about doing lunch at Pizzafari and dinner at Yak & Yeti CS. We're planning on going on the Kilimanjaro Safaris first. And DINOSAUR is the ride I am most looking forward to!

Do you even realize how close you are to being with the mouse????!!!!!

Whenever I do realize just how close it is, I don't really believe it! I think the calendar is lying to me!!!

I just can't seem to picture myself at WDW! It seems to good to be true! I can't really be going there in a couple days, can I????

I am so close to being done packing!!! I think really all that is left is my hairbrush, my wallet, my phone charger and my pajamas! Our trip is so close that now even The Boyfriend has already started packing!!!

Last night I removed all the pictures on my cell phone and saved them onto my computer. So now I have lots of free room on my phone! I plan on texting my mom from Disney with updates and sending her pictures of what I'm doing. She's really excited about this! So now I have plenty of room on my phone to take LOTS of pictures for her!

Today is September 10th! When we first started making WDW plans, the 10th was the day we were planning on going! So if we had stuck with those plans, I'd be at WDW right now!!! Oh well, I'm actually enjoying the anticipation so much that I'm glad I get a couple more days to get excited about the trip!

So, in one week from today we will be at... Magic Kingdom! We'll be having breakfast at the ASMu food court. We have lunch reservations at Tony's Town Square and we're thinking of doing dinner at Columbia Harbour House. We're planning on riding Big Thunder Mountain first. And the ride I'm most excited about is the Jungle Cruise... or "The Jungle Boats" as I like to call it! It's always been my favorite ride at Disneyland. The Boyfriend has never been on it! He's not really looking forward to it and says that I'm forcing him to ride it! He hates boats and he's angry about seeing animatronic animals the day after we've spent the day seeing real animals at Animal Kingdom. But I'm really excited about the Jungle Boats!! I'm also so extremely excited about the PeopleMover! (I just can't bring myself to call it the TTA.) I was so upset when the Disneyland PeopleMover closed. I know the TTA (PeopleMover) is closed right now, so I'm really really really hoping it does reopen on Saturday like it's scheduled to! I wanna ride the PeopleMover!

According to weather.com, the weather is expected to be a low of 74 and a high of 89 that day with a 40% chance of rain.

Wow!!! One week from today I will be on an airplane heading back home and my Disney trip will be over!!!! I don't think I'll be that sad. In fact, I'm even pretty excited about the end of my trip! I am going to miss my dogs (and mouse!... though I'm pretty sure my dogs will miss me more than my mouse will miss me!) so much, so I'm going to want to jump on that plane and get back to them ASAP! Plus I'm really looking forward to looking through all of my vacation photos! And honestly, I just really can't wait to get home so I can tell everyone about all of the super fun things I did at Disney World! And I am definitely looking forward to resting, relaxing and recovering from the trip! I am going to be so exhausted from this trip! But it will so be worth it!

I'm all done packing!!!!! At least I'm pretty sure I am. I have that "I'm forgetting something important" feeling, so I'll be spending today and tomorrow making sure I've packed everything I need!

Ohhh... I'm so excited! I don't know how I'm going to function tomorrow! I'm probably going to want to go to bed at like 3 pm!

Oh my goodness!!! This is the final installment of my PTR! I'm going to Disney World tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo:

This morning started out on kind of a downer. The Boyfriend got a call this morning saying he owed money on a credit card that he hasn't used in 5 years and had paid off entirely. I think he got it all straightened out and they're sending him some sort of form or something so he can report the card as stolen. But he did no like having to deal with that first thing in the morning. So he's been pretty grumpy all day. I hope he cheers up soon! We're going to Disney!

On a much happier note, he's the Employee Of The Month at his job this month! So they're rewarding him by paying for one of our dinners at Disney World! We don't know yet where we'll be eating for this fancy free dinner, but I'm pretty excited about it!

So yeah, I'm actually a little bit sad this PTR is over! I've had so much fun with this! Thank you everyone who responded! And thank you to all the lurkers out there as well that stopped by to check it out!

Expect a photo-filled TR from me sometime after I've returned from my trip!
