i had a short in my rebel xt and it hadn't ever gotten wet. couldn't figure out how it happened but saw this article and could explain it so i'm passing it along as a caution. basically it mentions cf cards can bend a pin then the next time you insert a card it can cause a short. solution is to be careful putting in and out ( no big light bulb moment there) but thought it was interesting.http://photo.net/canon-eos-digital-camera-forum/00U76m

I am aware of someone on another board that got a brand new D300 and card. Put the card in the first time and one of the holes on the card was not drilled properly. It bent the pin on the brand new D300 before a shot had been taken.
Fortunately he had gotten locally and the dealer replaced for him.
The card by the way was a national premium brand. I make sure I check out all cards the first time!

Good advise. Who would even think to check all the holes were functioning properly? I'll definately keep that in mind now when I purchase any additional cards. :thumbsup2

Well, I just got my Xti replaced under warranty with an Xsi. I've been cursing the change in format as I've had to replace my substantial amount of memory.....
Sounds like this that I should be happy with the change to SDCH from CF!
