I'm very pleased to announce that after much work, a new version of Mouse Manager is ready for testing.

This new version supports Bay Lake Towers, Treehouse Villas at SSR and The Villas at the Grand Californian.

It also supports the new point allocations put into place effective for 2010.

In past years, an update has taken me only a few days, but this year the update has been taking MUCH longer than past years because of the reallocation of points for 2010 in the resorts, plus the addition of the Tree Top Villas room type at Saratoga Springs and the addition of Bay Lake Towers and the Grand Californian.

The main challenge has been the reallocation of points. Normally I just have to deal with season date changes. This year required MUCH more work.

There was complete rework of the basis that creates the Mouse Manager points table. A good friend and Mouse Manager user, Steve in Toronto, proofread the data before I start generating the new point tables.

There are a total of 37,595 new rows of points data that comprise this update.

I also do this part time, and so life and my real job sometimes gets in the way, although this is really a passion for me.

Please read this posting carefully. There's a lot of information in it.

Testers Needed

So now I need some testers to test the final build of Mouse Manager 1.1.2.

There is no new functionality. This version supports the new resorts and new points allocation for 2010.

What I'm Looking For

I'm looking for five (5) Windows users and five (5) Mac users.

Tester Requirements

The requirements for testers:

You are a current Mouse Manager user (This is not a suitable task for new users who are unfamiliar with Mouse Manager).
You understand how to use Mouse Manager and if need be, set-up Contracts and Contract Summary records
You are willing to play around and use the system
You understand that this is a mamouth point update only. Any defects that may have existed before, still exist and have not been addressed
You understand that this testing is really all about testing the build and install, and points for the new room types and resorts and points for 2010.

Once testing has been completed, and providing everything goes well, I will start to send out emails to the 2000+ registered Mouse Manager users announcing the official release of Mouse Manager version 1.1.2.

Interested?

If you are interested in testing, please send me a PM. Be sure to include your email address in your PM. I will be collecting names, and then later in the week respond back via email.

Thank You

I want to thank everyone who volunteers in advance. I really appreciate the help!

I apologize to all my users who might be reading this that this update has taken so long. That darn daytime job and day to day life keeps getting in the way of what I really enjoy! ;)

So far, I have one response for volunteer testers. There are over 2,000 users of which over 1,400 on on the DIS boards!

Surely there must be 5 Windows users and 5 Mac users willing to do some testing?

Unfortunately, I can't go to general release until the testing is done.

I'm beginning to feel a little like the Little Red Hen.:rotfl2:

If you can help out in testing, please send me a PM, and please include your email address.

I am a windows user. I recently began using Mouse Manager 1.1.1 and would like to try the new version. I previously did not respond as I thought that you would be "flooded" with requests!

Hi i am a novice but i could trial it on mac for you.

Have you used Mouse Manager before? If not, I'd love to have you as a user, but for this testing, I'm looking for people who are familiar with Mouse Manager. I'm sort of anxious to get this to general release.

But I appreciate the offer and would love to have you as a user once it is released.

You can though feel free to play around with the current version of Mouse Manager. You can download if from my site. You'll see the info in my signature.

Thanks again!

Sending you a PM.

This is exciting! I'm hoping to only be going through testing for a week or so and then go to general release.

Then, I have to figure out how to let the 2000+ users know about it ... Oh, and I also have to enter about 500 registrations that I've been sitting on in my registration database.

Just some thoughts on things to come....

Once this release is behind me, I'll start working on version 2.0 which will be built on top of a brand new release of Filemaker Pro. I'll be looking to improve and redesign Mouse Manager, and expand it to handle even more vacation planning.

If you still need someone to test for Windows, I would be willing. I have the other version, and I'm in need of the Grand Californian Villas section, so I would be able to check that section out for you! I will pm my email address if you still need someone to test. Thanks!
