I need this tip posted on allearsnet

can anyone explain this one FULLY to me?

Thanks!

Even if you're not counting calories, skip dessert with your quick service on the Disney Dining Plan and opt for a second beverage. You will greatly appreciate it and it leaves you with a nice ice cream or treat or beverage later in the day.

If you are able to switch your dessert out for a beverage (like a bottle of water) at counter service, which apparently is sometimes allowed, you don't get another dessert later.

Wow, that is allowed? I would love to know where...we are going soon. Anyone know any restaurants that allow this?? TIA :goodvibes

There's no real list of CS where it will be "allowed" to swap your dessert for a bottle of water. (They'll also let you swap for some fruit, possibly for a bag of chips or something small like that - but not for a side dish probably. You will need to ask the cashier if you can trade your dessert, and if so what you can get.) Again I'd have to state that I have seen nothing that says you can still get a dessert later on the same CS credit once you have swapped your CS dessert for something else. You'd be able to use a snack credit if you want an ice cream bar or something later - but once the CS credit is gone, it's gone.

Table service will never permit swapping desserts for appetizers, but they will provide alternative desserts (like fruit or a sugar-free dessert) if requested.

Sometimes we don't like the dessert offering or it is just too much food. It would be nice to take the water to drink later on those hot August days. Thanks for the info. :goodvibes

I have not experienced this trade.

Where the no dessert extra drink is definitely true is at breakfast. At a CS breakfast meal you in theory get coffee and juice, some say this is because there isn't a dessert option at breakfast. In reality you are allowed 2 beverages. Perhaps this is where you've heard the NO Dessert extra drink comment.

I think the OP meant that they used their snack credit for the extra drink or ice cream later in the day.

I never asked about skipping dessert at CS meals (lunch and dinner) and getting another drink in it's place.

I was just going to ask this question! In the Unofficial Guide it mentions that at breakfast AND lunch people have been able to get two drinks -it's just that at lunch you have to give up your dessert.
This would be totally fine for me. I really hope this is available as a widespread substitution.

At some CS those frozen drink thingys (Minute Maid lemonade, frozen blast at the Lunching Pad in MK, and others) count just as a dessert, though you and I might consider them drinks.
