DVC referrals - is there a bonus/gift?

I referred a friend , who ended up buying into DVC. I received a letter from my guide confirming that he purchased into DVC.

Is there some sort of bonus or gift if one your referred friends ends up purchasing into DVC? I thought I had read that somewhere. Also will it make a difference if I'm in Canada (again thought I read this someone on these boards but didn't find the post via search)?

It depends upon where you live, and I think it is US residents only but I may be wrong. And it also varies by state law.

The first referral is $200 in dues credits or gift cards.

We are not eligible for the rewards here in Texas.

W H A T!!!! We missed out on a DVC referral and lower points when we bought because we didn't know about this board and now we can't get any referral bonus either! Oh man!

Oh well, at least we could buy into DVC.
