Does anyone know anything about the private residences being built off Osprey Ridge golf course?

They are part of the Four Seasons development.

So just out of curiosity, there is no such thing as a 'for purchase' 52 weeks a year residence within WDW?

I understand that there are a few private residences that are within the bounds of Reedy Creek Improvement District (i.e. WDW), but they have always been there. There may be certain rules if the residents chose to sell (like WDW has right of first refusal, etc.).

Owning property within the bounds of RCID implies certain voting rights.

The Four Seasons development had the land de-annexed (AFAIK) from RCID to avoid any issues.

This is correct. The land is no longer part of Reedy Creek.

From my understaning, there will be 100 homes, starting at $1 mil each.

So let me get this straight, if I plop down a million bucks, I can live on the property that USED to be Disney property?

As opposed to the <$1 million you currently pay/paid that USED to belong to the Native Americans? Yes, that is correct.

Well then, I'm not buying. Don't want to step on anyone's toes.

Oh, you can buy a home for significantly less than $1M on property that used to be part of WDW in Celebration.

I understand that there are a few private residences that are within the bounds of Reedy Creek Improvement District (i.e. WDW)

If I remember the census records for Reedy Creek there are 14 permanent residents. They are all senior Disney managers and they live (they claim their residence is) in double-wide trailers almost immediately to the north of Bay Lake. Do a Google Maps search for "704 Bay Ct, Bay Lake Florida" and you can see them - there is also a street view, but it doesn't actually enter the individual streets.

Yea, I'm aware of the Celebration property. We came very close to buying a piece of property there w-a-a-a-ay back in the beginning, but we were concerned about the flatness of the land in that area, especially during heavy rainfall.

From what I heard property in Florida is really taking a hit with this economy. You should be able to talk them down to at least $500,000 for the land.

Whn we went by two weeks ago, there was a LOT of construction going on, although we did not see a building going up at this point.

There are also supposed to be townhomes and condos as well.

You know what scares me most about this situation? The powers that be {heretoafter known as "the morons"} at Disney may start selling off ALL of the property bordering the WDW resort property that they will not build on themselves, and guess what? DISNEYLAND all over again. There goes Walts, (you remember the brilliant guy who started it all, } idea of keeping the "outside" at bay { remember, Walt wanted a buffer around the World.} The outside will then butt right up to WDW. Go up on the Tower of Terror, and guess what? there's the outside world. Hate to say it, but, you guys running Disney now, you suck! :sad2:

Too bad Walt didn't deed land not to be used as open land. That is put a restriction that nothing could ever be built.
