It's August Guys!

This is the month for me!:littleangel: I will start officially training in the last week. In the meantime, I am trying to get back in the groove! We are Hakuna Matata and we have no worries!!!!

Are you training? When? Let's talk about it. There's plenty of us showing up at WDW this January, let's all share ideas!

We start the month with Totals! The first one in was Wilbur Sue! She is our dynamo! But only 6 people have reported anything for this month.

472.79 miles and 154:38

Happy August TEAM! :wave2:

Its the Dog Days of Summer so lets go 'pant our sweats off.' :dogdance:
Weather looks warm with a chance of rain for this area.

Did a nice 10 mile bike ride with a young neighbor at 8:am. She said she wasn't used to riding as fast as she had been riding with an older 60 yr old lady...:lmao:

:thanks: DD is so much better - she is actually up, doing her hair and make up this morning for the first time in a long-long time. :cloud9:

Hi team! Can't believe that it's August already! How many days until marathon weekend in January :)

Well, I went to sleep late last night and didn't wake up until 10AM. So it was pretty hot and sunny out. At least it wasn't muggy, just hot. I planned to do 7 miles but will do that tomorrow instead.

Sue - You go girl! That's an incredible amount of miles! :worship::worship:

Margie - WTG on your 10 mile bike ride :) Good news about DD! I'm glad to hear she's doing better. Let her know that we're all thinking about her.

Jennifer - Do you get a break in October since you're starting a month early?

Connie - Right now I'm just training for a 1/2 at the end of September. I have a 15K coming up in a couple of weeks but I'm just incorporating that into my training plan. I'd love to hear tips on speedwork and hills. I do day a week for speed training but I'm not sure if it's making a difference. I also do some fartelek running on my shorter runs. I'll get my hours and miles to you tonight or tomorrow.

Have a great weekend everyone!! :wave2:

Happy Aug team.

I had a race this morning, it was a run race and I walked so I was pretty far back in the pack. I did the race 5K in 35:41. It was supposed to be a fast flat course, yea right, to say rolling would be a much better discription.

Connie, I have 78 miles and 36 hours for last month. I to will begin more distance this month.

Dave- I hope we all have more miles this month! :thumbsup2 We all have work to do! Sounds like a good race to me! Good job.

Kim! Hi! How are you doing? Have you looked at Jenny Hadfield's and John Binghams Goofy training? What training program will you use?

Margie! Great news on the makeup wearing daughter! Are you ready to lace up and get out there?

Vicky - Wow! Good luck! Are you going to be at WDW come January?

Denise - We miss you

Lynn - Are you like me? When I have a diagnosis, it quits hurting so much?

Morning Scott!

Jack - Better a wrecked cruiser than a wrecked officer!

Jennifer - Good luck! It's almost that time of year isn't it?

Everybody else :wave2:

Went out for a short 2 miles yesterday. My hip was hurting a bit and a dog came after me, but I sent him home, so I cut things kinda short. See ya!

Hey Connie WTG on the 2M.

No idea what plan I am going to follow. I have MFM but there is no goofy plan in there. I am so confused?? I would love to find a plan for walkers but I haven't come across anything yet

Steffwalks

Kim, I had to buy the Goofy plan. But I can send you a basic synopsis! It uses b2b walks/runs. It starts slow and easy. I am going to do b2b for the stamina. My body isn't one of those lean always moving types, it's more like the clean and jerk type!

Hey guys!

Well...I've started my new job and it's very hard...harder than I thought it would be. The stress level is high and the ten hour days are hard on me since the baby is taking alot out of me too. BUT the good news is that I'm out of the 1st trimester and I'm feeling better. I have even been running a bit. I haven't been able to go more than about 1.5 miles without a walk break and I haven't gone farther than 3 yet. The doctor said not to push it and if I feel tired to walk and take it easy. I had gained about 3 lbs more than I wanted to in the 1st three months, mainly because all I could eat was cold stuff...ie, cheese sandwiches, peanut butter, pasta salads. I couldn't stomach meats or anything and the only veggies I got were salads. I have started eating more lean protein and veggies now though so I'm hoping the weight will even out.

I'm super jealous of those of you that have been racing and especially those of you that are starting your long journey to the Goofy. I'll be there with you guys in spirit!! If any of you want to give me chip numbers I would love to track you guys!!!

Anywho...I just wanted to check in and say I miss you guys. I've been a bad WISH member by not coming in to visit. It's been hard for me to give up all of the running and I guess talking about the fact that I'm NOT running is a hard thing to do.

Hope all has been well with you guys!!!

GO WISH!!!!

Connie, Thanks. I go back on Monday and the kids come back on Thursday. It's my first year teaching and they just changed my assignment again. (I'm now going to be a resource teacher for 4th grade dealing with students who are performingly below grade level in math and will have EXTREMELY small classes)

Eva, Sorry the new job has been stressful. Take care of yourself and that baby!

The internet people are coming on Friday (as are the cable people) so I will finally be able to post from my apartment instead of the coffee shop down the street.

I did 10.1 miles today in under 90 minutes (just below a 9 minute pace). I'm now a little over a month out from my next 1/2 (it's labor day weekend).

Best,
Jennifer

Ok! It's August time for me to step it up a notch. January will be here before I know it. I'll meet with my running adviser this week to get the program ramped up a bit, slow & steady but need to make time. The B2B sounds interesting.

We have the State wide "Steak-Out" ( spelled correctly) Monday, most of the execs from around the state have a luncheon, booked as a meeting for most of the day weather permitting.., might go long if there is golf :lmao:

Dave nice race!

Jenn, back so soon? I love the staples commercial where they sing the Christmas song, "It's the most wonderful time of the year." I guess your pretty excited eh? I get the feeling you'll be great!

Connie~ whats the Goofy Plan?

Hello!

Some of you already know me....but for those who don't....

I'm Terri - training for my first Goofy in 2010. I've done half marathons, most over 12 years ago (!). Not realizing how much older I'd become - I attempted the half this past January, and got swept at mile 11.

My daughter and I finished the Seattle RnR in June, so I have faith that I'll finish next time.... I'm working on my strength, and putting the miles in.

Thanks for letting me join - nice to meet you!

Hi Team,

Terri, Welcome to Hakuna Matata! I will send you the rules via PM later today. There aren't many of them, so not too much to worry about. :welcome:

Jack-- Kim, Margie, Dave and Erica and I and some of the others are doing the Goofy Race and a half challenge in January. As you probably know, that's the half marathon one day and the full the next. So, I bought the Goofy training plan from Jenny Hadfield and John Bingham. I wanted to train to finish and survive the training! A B2B is a Back-to-back training session. For example the longest training session is 10 miles one day and 20 miles the next! -- I also love the Staples commercial!

Jennifer - I looked into my crystal ball and discovered that it will be a great year for you! :wizard:

Eva - Sorry the new job is hard on you. I am sending pixiedust:

Today is a rest day! I  rest days!

Good Morning Team!

Terri - :welcome: glad to see you over here!!! We are a great team, and you already know several of us!

Connie - If Scott has not asked, would you also send me the Goofy training plan, maybe I can get him more focused on training - it is so hard for him to focus on training with all that is happening at work for him. As for the pain and diagnosis, at first, it hurt more, because I never really thought there was something seriously wrong with my knee, I thought I just was not doing the exercises like I should be, so once I found there was something really wrong with it, I knew that there was a reason for it to hurt - but lately, it has been better - ever since I started putting in some miles on the the bike. So, right now, it does not hurt as much as it did. What usually happens to me is that as soon as I break down and call a Dr., then whatever I called for stops bothering me:confused3

Eva - good to hear from you - keep up the walking - you don't have to run for exercise, and it will help with the stress from work also.

Margie - great news about DD!

Dave - good job on the 5K! Have fun in Gatlinburg!

Hi to everyone else!

We got in a good bike ride on Saturday - went to the bike path and road 11.3 miles. Yesterday Scott got in a long run, and I got in my usual 3 mile walk - today we (the dogs and I) have done our 3 mile walk, and I will get in a bike ride and weight routine. I have my pre-op physical today (they want to know if I am healthy enough to operate on!)

Have a great day all!

Let the sunshine in and face it with a grin! -- I am waiting for a bit of morning sunshine or at least dawn to get in a few minutes of walking. Going to see how much I can do within a time frame the way the Goofy Training plan suggests!

Dh is having computer issues this morning. Why is that my fault? :confused3 Could one of you fellas explain that to me???

Terri and Kim - Hope you got the rules!

Jack- a coach? That sound interesting. The only coach I have ever had was the internet! At least it doesn't yell or judge me....I think!

Everyone keep up the good work!

Hi Terri! party:

Connie~ There are RULES? No one mentioned there are rules..:confused3

The computer issue can't be blamed on the dog:lmao:

My coach is my former Physical Therapist who is a marathon runner extraordinaire. He helped me learn to walk again after a spinal injury. We have stayed friends over the years and he has given me a program to help train. My goal is to finish, not win
Enjoy the week everyone. :thumbsup2

Good morning!

Got my walk- in!

Jack- I sent you the rules! I will post them right here, right now. Cut and paste, gotta love it...hang on....

Okay, got 'em!There are the rules but they aren't biggies!

1. If you can count it in miles, it counts miles! Like running, walking, rowing, biking, etc.

2. If you can count it in time, it counts time. Like running, walking, rowing, biking, aerobics tapes, Wii, yoga, pilates, weight resistance, swimming, etc.

3. You can count miles and minutes, both if they are both measurable. So walking 18 miles would count 18 miles and the amount of time it took to walk it!

4. If you walk around the zoo, Disney, the mall, etc with a pedometer, miles get to count but not minutes.

5. If you do unusual domestic chores you get to count minutes for them! Like raking the leaves, mowing the lawn, turning the king sized mattress, shoveling snow, etc. But ordinary housekeeping doesn't count.

That's it! Oh wait...I use my discretion in counting things and sometimes I round the number (usually up! ;)) So, if you want to know if it counts, ask. It probably does! :lmao:

Back to our previous message.....

Jack- Glad you made it back from the spinal injury. Finish is always my primary goal. My secondary goal is to finish without being dead or injured! Winning? I define that as: me against the distance...I have not lost yet!:thumbsup2

The computer issue can't be blamed on the dog

You're right, he can't blame the dog (We don't have one), but by gosh, he could blame the darn cats for his computer issues! Why would he blame me when I fix HIS computer for him??? :confused3

Off to do weights and then pay bills!

See ya! Connie

Jack - yes, to finish - that is the goal! We are headed out on a cruise - actually 2 back to back, a 4 day then a 3 day - the 3 day is the 10th anniversary of the Disney Wonder - Disney won't celebrate, but we (and lots of our friends) will. We are headed out on Sat. and will be gone a week.

BTW - posting next week will depend on where we might find free wireless:rotfl:

WTG Terri!

I got in my 3 mile walk this morning, yesterday I did a 6 mile bike ride, then when Scott got home, we made 2 loops around our street on the bikes for another 2.5 miles. I did not get to my weight routine, so that is on todays agenda.

Good morning team! Back from a long weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the extra day off. We had some hot weather this weekend - so naturally I was out running in the sun instead of getting up early. I did a 7 mile run on Sunday and was doing pretty good but my Garmin cut out at the 5.5 mile mark. D'oh! :headache: I guess I must have bumped the stop button or something because the next time I looked at it, it had reverted back to the clock. I think my time was 1:20 ... +/- 2 minutes.

I also went to the gym yesterday and there was only one trainer working. I got a boxing workout and asked him to make sure I got my butt kicked! Fortunately, there was no one else there to see me huffing and puffing my way through the routines. My right hand and forearm are a bit sore and weak today. Got a nice compliment from the trainer who said that I was in really good shape! :yay:

This morning I was out at 6:45 AM for a quick 3.5 miler. It was slow going because my legs were tired and it was quite humid, despite being cool. Got home and realized I should have done 4 miles so I'll just add an extra 0.5 miles to my Thursday run.

Terri - :welcome: Wow! Racquet ball and TM this morning! That's quite the workout! WTG :cheer2:

Jack - I like your goal of finishing! And very cool that you have a running coach who's also a PT. Double bonus :) Is Disney going to be your first marathon?

Eva - We miss you too! Take good care of yourself and the little one! I'll PM you my chip number when I get it in January. I'm just doing the half though so not as exciting as everyone else doing the Goofy or full.

Connie - Yup, I will be at WDW in January. Got my tickets and hotel all done :) I'm glad you mentioned there's a Goofy training plan available to purchase. I will need it one of these years!

Scott/Lynn - Enjoy the cruise!!

Dave - Congrats on the 5K! You are a speedy panda!!

Not much to report. Got to two long runs on the weekend. Just putting in the miles.

Lots going on in my life. One of which is an iphone that I use all the time as my internet and don't have a chance to sit at the computer.

Super busy at work so I don't have any free internet time there.

Miranda;s shower was a 2 weeks ago and a lot of her stuff is sitting in my dining room as she bought a condo and they will be closing next week. Baby is due on the 21st so time is winding down to get things done.

July was a bust for exercise. Then I had 2 weeks of neck pain so I was a mess, an ear infection, which is still bothering me but hoping the meds will take care of it.

Yesterday I did 20 min on the ellip and felt so much better. I was sluggish but it really gave me a more positive outlook on the day

Told Mark we would be walking this morning - he's not thrilled but he got up and we both feel better. His leg is better due to a massage. She thinks he injured it during the 08 1/2 and now has scar tissue. He was quite happy that she could help.

As soon as I have a moment I'll post pictures of Miranda's/Josie's baby quilts.

We will be helping her move and stuff so again, I won't be posting much but will try to continue to walk as it helps me so much. Thanks for being here for me to always come back.

Thanks for the welcomes!

As for me - I'm checking in with 17 miles on the bike yesterday (doesn't sound like much, but it kicked my petoot) then 20 minutes of racquetball with my daughter. After that I was seriously ready for a NAP! But since I'm doing the DLR half in a few weeks, I figure I need to keep pushing...

Morning team! I got out this morning for a 4 miler. The weather was gorgeous! I think the thermometer said 13C or 55F. I got out a bit late so I ran my route backwards, fewer hills that way. I was doing pretty well pace-wise but had some sharp knee pain around mile 2. I slowed way down so I knew I wasn't going to get a good time. But I made it home in one piece so I'm happy :)

Terri - I think 17 miles is a lot! Don't think I could get that done in one shot. Never overlook the importance of a nap ;) Just kidding! I love naps!

Denise - Sounds like it was a rough July! Take care of yourself. I hope things go well with Miranda in the coming weeks. Keep us posted :)

Sue - Did you make it out last night? The storms were over by the time I got home but it was still kind of humid.

Jack - Woo hoo for you first marathon! I have to agree with you - there's nothing like doing it with friends and at Disney too! I'm hoping to get my first marathon in 2011 as long as I don't chicken out.

Lynn - *high five* They need a smiley for that. I'm glad to hear I'm not the only person doing the half :)

Vicky, We didn't get any of yesterday's storm. I had a terrible outside run. Hot, humid, side stitch, stone in the shoe & an odd pain in my foot. Just one of those days. Yes, it was beautiful this morning. Wish I had time to run in the am. but I'm already at my desk by 7am. That's the problem with commuting from the burbs.

Good Morning, Team!

Margie - I don't usually get on the (stationary) bike for that long. (the seats aren't that comfy - even for those of us who are "fluffy"). I try to do an hour on the treadmill, then an hour on the bike - followed by my personal trainer torture session. After all that I am literally seeing stars, and I head for home. I'm trying to get both my speed and distance in - it's VERY important for me to finish DLR in the required time.... Thanks very much for the welcome, I appreciate it!

Yesterday - I didn't do anything - I just felt kind of beat up. After three days in a row with the workouts mentioned - I don't have much left. And it's only Thursday.....

Have a great day everyone!

Good morning Team,

Got in a 2.5 mile walk and weights this morning. Enjoyed watching the little meadow lark play cripple so that I didn't get near her nest. I always jump when the quale do, though! :rotfl:

Welcome back Dave.

Hey, Kim, how's the training going?

Scott and Lynn enjoy that cruise. Is there any better place to do laps than a cruise ship?? I haven't found one yet!

Gosh Terri, how could you be a little tired? Don't hurt yourself!

Margie Good to see your smiling face! Great job on the bike ride. It's been a rough summer for you!

Good to see you Sue! Tell us how you carve out all that time for exercise!

Vicky, YES to the high five smilie! Sorry to hear about your knee. Hope it's feeling better. :tinker:

Denise, Can't wait to see the quilt and all the baby pics from you and Erica!

Eva, when you gonna know what you got?
Off to clean house, expecting company this weekend!
Everyone MAKE a great training day!

See ya! Connie

Good Morning Team!

Vicki - I did the marathon last year, did finish, but said I doubted I would do it again, I enjoy the half's, so I decided to stick to them!

Jack - Yes, we are planning on the 5K on Castaway Cay, maybe even twice, as we are really doing 2 cruises, we will be there twice. It is something we suggested to the cruise staff on another trip, and it will be interesting to see what they did with our suggestion!

Dave and Erica - glad you are back safely, and glad that you had a good weekend!

Terri - you amaze me with the time you put into exercise while working - I put in a fare amount of time, but I am not working 40+ hours a week!

Connie - yes, I guess that if you have to walk laps, it might as well be on a cruise ship!

Kim - sorry that work is keeping you from your friends!

Have a great day everyone!

Good Afternoon Team!

Connie, Training is one of the top priorities for our family. DH has a triathlon (1/2 ironman) mid Sept. I'm running a full at the end of Sept. Planning, planning, planning. Organizing our schedules is key. I'm also able to take advantage of working out on my lunch.

Lynn, Enjoy the cruise. Are you doing back to back on the Wonder or one of the special doubledip cruises? Did the Wonder last year. We are looking to book for fall of '10 but might go with RCI or NCL. Have you sailed with someone other than Disney?

Out for another run tonight. Happy training.........Sue

Sue, my DW and I have been on many different lines, she used to be a Cruise Only TA so we got many chances to go. I must say I liked NCL's SS Noway, it was a classic ship. it used to be the SS France and made transatlantic trips. I swear you could almost see the people in their Sunday Best with parasols and straw hats, like in the 20's & 30's, is was just as I say, a classic ship. It now sits off the coast of Bangladesh waiting to be scrapped. :sad1: Of all the lines, we have enjoyed DCL the best. It might be a little more, but you get the Disney quality. But everyone has different tastes, I like to read and relax, I don't get involved in pool games and stuff but we do like to mingle and hangout with people. And we don't worry about our kids, they know how to behave and be safe, but still have fun. On DCL they can go off by themselves with no worries. IMO

Ready to cruise, hope to get home early tomorroy and pull the battery from my work phone.

This is our first Back to Back cruise, so that should be interesting. Same room for both cruises.

Laps on the ship is a god thing, Garmin really dosen't work....

Happy Friday everyone! Even though it was a short week, I'm definitely ready for the weekend again! Went to the gym last night and had my PT look at my knee. He did some ART and stretches and it seems like it's good to go :) He says my quads are really tight and I might have pulled something while doing hill training.

I also picked up a new pair of running shoes just in case. I didn't realize that I already had over 250 miles on them. The salesperson at the store asked me why I wasn't rotating my shoes... because I don't have $300 to throw down on shoes. Actually I had never thought about doing that. Is that a common thing? Running shoes (or shoes in general) in Canada aren't cheap. There are online sites that sell the same shoe I use for nearly half price. Crazy!

Lynn - Enjoy the cruise! I like the half distance too! I know I'll eventually want to run a full but for now I'm going to get comfortable with doing halfs.

Scott - I was reading about someone else on another board who went on a cruise. He did enough laps around the ship to equal a half marathon. But said he was stopping every few laps for soft serve ice cream and water

Jennifer - Glad to hear your first day went well! How many kids are you responsible for?

Margie - Any new updates on DD? Is she still doing well?

Dave - A little R&R sounds nice :) Say hi to Erica!

Kim - Didn't realize we were almost two weeks away to the race! I don't feel like I'm ready yet. Oh, I found the AP thread you were talking about. I'm going to ask my TA about it so I'll let you know what she says.

Well, that's all for now. Have a fantastic day everyone! :wave2:

Good morning Team.

I got a cute little stuffed panda in the mail yesterday, what a wonderful pick me up it was, just when I needed one. Thanks Margie, I love you Darlin, hope your ordeal with sickness in the family is about over.

I had a nice surprise this morning to a Im from our sweet captain. You guys do so seem to know when I need a lift. I'll whisper I love you in Connie's ear so her Jon the Oil rig man doesn't thump me. LOL.

I guess that Lynn and Scott are off cruising. They are my heroes and I what to be like them when I grow up. Free sprits to the max. Darn fine people to.

Today is a rest day for me since I have a race in the morning.

Eva, sorry your so busy, will you still have time to visit with everyone at Disney in January.

Denise, looking forward to seeing your quilt magic. I'm sure you really put your heart into this one.

Everyone have an awesome day.

Good Morning Folks!

Actually Dave - we do not leave until tomorrow morning - at 0 dark 30! We will fly to Orlando, then drive to the port. We will board the ship on Sunday. Yes - this is a B2B on the Wonder - the 2nd cruise is the 10th Anniversary of the Wonder and we have a lot of friends on that one, we could not just go on a 3 day cruise, and WDW this time of year is not fun, so we opted to make it a B2B and stay on the ship for a week.

Vicki - I do rotate shoes, I seem to have 2 pair at any given time, I usually buy them on sale at our local running store, and I usually end up with 2 at a time because I cannot decide which is the most comfortable! But if both are on sale, then I usually am not paying too much more than for 1 pair at regular price.

Sue - we have only cruised with DCL - Scott would not even think about a cruise until Disney built a ship - now he loves it - we stick to DCL because we can cruise on DVC points. We have a Baltic cruise booked for June 2010 that several of the folks who started on DCL have moved to another line that has the same itinery for half the price.

Kim - Yes - all packed, except for the things like the I-Pod I will be using later today, and the garmin I will be using later today. By this evening, all will be charged up and packed - dogs will be at puppy camp (the kennel) - and the alarm will be set for 3:30am:scared1:

I got in my 3 mile walk this morning, will shortly be heading out for bike ride which I missed yesterday - weather did not cooperate. Afternoon chores are mowing the lawn. Have a great week all - I may not get back here until I get home!

We are in for the rainy weekend (maybe!) The weather keeps on changing. Next week looks very hot & humid.

Have a great weekend of training.......Sue

Jack, This is my dilemma. I know we can't go wrong with Disney. Love the service, love the ship, love CC. etc. My DD will be 9 when we cruise. Just thought the bigger ships with rock wall/ mini golf etc would really appeal to her. But I'm concerned about getting off the ship at port with 4000+ people, service (friendliness) of staff etc.

Hello everyone! Got out this morning for my long run. Tomorrow and next week is suppose to be hot and humid. I think the weather forecast said with the humidity it's suppose to feel like 44C (I think that's 111F). Crazy!

I ran 8 miles this morning at a 12 m/m pace. Nice and slow - I wanted to take it easy on my back and knee. My back still a little twingy. I'll back out (early) tomorrow morning for my 3 miler.

Dave - Can we see a picture of your new panda friend :)

Margie - Glad to hear DD is doing better!

Lynn - I think the next time shoes are on sale, I'll just grab a bunch of them. The NB pair I have now is a little cheaper than the Asics from last year but still work out to $150 once you add in the tax. (Did I mention we have a 13% sales tax :( ). So rotating two pairs is a little pricey. Or perhaps I just need a better paying job.

Connie - Give Margie a big group hug for all of us :)

Terri - That's a hardcore workout! WTG!

That's all for me! Have a great day everyone!!

Good Morning All!

Scott and Lynn, have a fun time this week. So relaxing to be on a cruise. Not one of my favorite things to do but it is a beauty of a ship and Castaway Cay is perfect.

Mark and I are starting to do 4 miles at a time. We went out Weds, Fri and Sat. Taking today off. I have mounds of paperwork to do and help the dd Miranda pack and move into her new condo, provided she doesn't deliver the princess before. Ekkkkkkkkkkk hope all is timed perfectly for them. Closing on the 21st. Due date is either the 21st or the 29th depending on the ultrasound tech or her Dr. Either way it's cutting it close.

Both Mark and I feel much better with our morning walks so I"m happy to be doing that again.

Well as I said, mounds of paperwork for Mark which is a good thing, lets hope the checks far outweigh the bills - by the looks of things they do!

Have a great Sunday, will check in when I can.

We don't have a particularly standard dinner for the night before the marathon. We try to always eat healthy and most good food works. However it's a good idea to avoid foods that might give you bowel issues like chilli or other bean dishes. I also avoid hot spicey food the night before. Other than that, grilled or baked chicken or fish with steamed veggies or a pasta dish are good choices.

Happy Monday team! Got my shoes all dried out so they're good to go for tomorrow. They sort of look grey instead of the new bright white. Oh well. I'll be going to the gym tonight for my usual training. Really high humidity today, it seems like it's going to stay that way for the rest of the week.

Sue - I hear ya! I go once a month and wish I could book massages more often. Actually I was thinking about you on the weekend and was wondering how you were able to do so many miles and not get injured or have tight muscles. Have you tried using a foam roller or tennis ball? I know they're not the same as a massage but I started adding a few minutes of foam rolling before and after my runs and it seems to have helped somewhat.

Jack - I tend to load up on carbs just because I can. I'm really addicted to white bread, pasta, sugar so I guess it's just as excuse. I also try to get in some lean protein like Dave - chicken, fish. I also avoid things with too much grease or spice because they can upset my stomach.

Dave - That's quite the weekend! Are you using a push mower?

Jennifer - How did your first week of school go?

Kim - I think we've got a week and a bit. Yikes! I don't feel ready. I hope all this humidity is gone by then :)

Hi Team!
Been MIA for a while, but I've been feeling somewhat like a slacker recently. My knees have started acting up again, so I've done very little running. I've kept up with walking, but my pace is a slow one. Went to the Chiropractor today. He is trained in Active Release Therapy and did some deep massage on my quads. Found a spot on each knee that was really knotted up. Going back in two weeks, so we'll see what things are like then.

DH and I are leaving to drive to Denver to visit our DD on Thursday. We'll be staying for a week, so hopefully I'll be able to get out and explore her neighborhood some more. Just can't beat the scenery in Denver!

Good Morning Everyone!

It is very hot and humid here in NH. That will last for just a few days then we will be back to “normal”. So heading out at 4:45 this morning and having it well above 70 and very humid made it difficult to breathe but Mark and I did our 4 miles. We would not win awards in the speed dept but at least we did something.

We saw some other fools at that hour but they were younger than us and jogging. The sun came up but it was – thankfully- behind the cloud cover. As Scott says, we leaked a lot this morning. I’m sure he is too, on the track of that ship.

Still no grandbaby yet and that’s fine until she moves next week! Josie can plan her arrival for after the 21st.

Well it’s a busy day here at work so I’ll sign off.

Good morning Team.

This is not a time for decreasing motivation guys. We need to remember why we want to make changes in our lives. We want to live long healthy lives of course but that isn't the only reason. We want to be fit and healthy because that allows us to do everything we do better.

This time of year is a critical time for us that have committed to the January events. We have to get started and slowly increase till we are ready for the long distances we will face at the house of mouse.

We need to be keeping the positive thoughts and send the negative thoughts packing. We need to be listening to kicking music and spending some time each day with people who motivate us to do better.

We need to tell that person looking back at us from the mirror that they are worth the effort.

Have an awesome day team.

Hello team! Worked out last night with my trainer. We did some more deadlifting. I made it up to 115 lbs. I had trouble with the first set - I couldn't do more than one lift. But eventually made it to three :) I went out this morning for a run but my knee was still under the weather. It got pinchy if I tried running faster 12 m/m. So it was a slow 3 miler. I will go back out again tomorrow morning and get in a tempo run. Hopefully the knee will cooperate.

Mary - Love ART! I've had great results when my chiropractor or PT used it on my shins and hips. Not the most pleasant experience while it's happening though.

Denise - That's an early morning! I've got to start getting up earlier as my mileage is increasing.

Teri - WTG on the miles!

Dave - We need a Panda video/podcast for inspiration!! :yay: Hey, did we ever get a team picture last January?

Jennifer - That's great that you're still getting in the miles even though you're busy. How are the kids in your class? Are they behaved so far?

Kim - It felt like Thursday to me today! I need more weekend :)

Have a great day everyone!

Vicky, The kids haven't been too bad. Some talking, not following directions, minor things type things. One of my friends has the "demon" class.

I joined a gym today. (They have an awesome discount for teachers. No enrollment fee, 2 free trainer sessions, and only 20 dollars a month for 24 hour access). It was nice not to have to get up at 4am or wait until 9 pm to run. Additionally, I've found a kind of coach in the manager. He's a multiple time BQer and saw me running 5 miles at 7:45 and asked me about my training and said he'd like to help. We'll see how that goes. (Small town, small gym, very small running community)

I did 5 miles on a nice high tech treadmill (the kind that makes you want to run on a treadmill) in just under 40 minutes.

All the company has gone, now. I didn't get my walk in, yesterday, but it will be okay. I can do some x-training today and pretend like I am catching up!

Good morning backatcha, Kim!

Jennifer! Good job on the gym! Small towns sometimes offer bigger opportunities!!! Enjoy that class. A class that's a little naughty is way more fun than the class who is always good! :rotfl:

Terri! Speed?? Oh man, don't have any and just hoping not to get swept cause I am poking along!

Hello everyone! I woke up and still had some knee pain this morning :( The knee was feeling really stiff even though I had been doing quad stretches and icing yesterday. I decided to skip running today. I knew I was going to be jogging slowly and figured there wasn't much point in that. Hopefully the day of rest will be good for my knee.

Jennifer - That's great news about the gym and now you have a running coach of sorts! Very exciting :)

Connie - We'll be at Pop too! We're doing a split stay so after the marathon weekend, we'll move to another resort. Is your DH registered for the marathon or Goofy? Or just observing :)

Kim - :wave2

Sue - Glad to hear about your run yesterday! Got an e-mail that the Scotiabank Expo is now going to be on the CNE grounds. Kind of a bummer because the Convention Center was so easy and walkable to get to.

Okay, that's all for now! Have a great day everyone!

Happy Friday everyone! It's suppose to be a hot hot weekend so I'll definitely have to get out early tomorrow morning for my run. My training schedule is calling for a 10K race this weekend but since I'm doing a 15K race next weekend, I'll just skip ahead to my 9 miler. Although I'm kind of wishing I had registered for the 10K as well. I read somewhere that they have MAC products in their goodie bag :)

Did some strength training and glute activation exercises at the gym last night and my knee seems to be better. My PT seems to think all the clicking, clacking and pain was the result of a really tight IT band. He said I might have to do a combo hot and ice pack at the same time.

Jennifer - You're coaching track? That's so cool! The girls are lucky to have you as a coach!

Connie - We'll be arriving at POP on the 6th too! I only wish we were staying until the 18th :)

Sue - Yeah, I don't like the expo location either. I mean at least with the convention center I could pop over and walk around during lunch but I'm guessing I'll be spending extra TTC fare to get over to the CNE after work. Were you able to losen up your hammies?

Dave - A big Panda

Good Morning Team! Yeah it's Friday, Rest Day.

Ran on the tm at the gym yesterday. I know everyone is entitled to workout however they want but the guy beside was doing an interesting one. He would put the tm on a fairly high incline & speed. Run his hardest for about a minute or 2. Decrease the incline & speed to a slow walk while he enjoyed his Starbucks' coffee & talked on the phone. Then repeat.......& repeat.....weird.

Jen, You deserve a gold star for having to deal with parents. Girls track coach sounds fun. Enjoy.

Vicky/ Kim Your race is next weekend. Correct? Have a great time.

On vacation in 7 hours :woohoo: & heading to the cottage for a little r & r with lots of running mixed in. Have a great week everyone & enjoy your training.......Sue

Whew! There you guys are! I was afraid I was going to continue talking to an empty room!

Did a 3.5 mile walk yesterday. Today is cross training. I am planning a pilates mat workout.

Vicki - That's great that you are in Pop! Can't wait to meet you! I will probably go job hunting if things in the oil field don't pick up in January. I do't want too, but we will have to start tapping the savings and I would rather not do that. So, a nice long trip to WDW is our last great big good time!

Sue - What a strange workout. Maybe, he is a mountain climber and that's his way of getting a realistic workout in! :rotfl: Have a great time at the cottage!!!!

Kim - A race! You go!

Vicki - is it too late to sign up for the 10K?

Jennifer - How cool is that! Can we call you Coach, too?

Panda - Welcome home! LOL How's things going....?

Hope everyone else is doing great! Summer is almost over. :guilty:

Vicky and Wilbur , Thanks! I'm looking forward to it. Is it wrong that I'm looking forward to coaching this winter/spring as much as I am teaching? It will be interesting as the high schoolers will be completely different than my 4th graders (although, I may have some older sisters on the team).

Connie, It's funny you bring up calling me coach. I'm currently holding up the faculty directory (so they can find out if they need to add girls track coach to my listing). It was hard enough getting used to Ms., I'm not sure how I'll handle Coach.

I'm meeting with the Athletic Director on Monday to talk about scheduling things and actual contract terms, but it sounds like I'll be doing girls 800m-5000m indoor and outdoor track (no 10000m in HS leagues, but we may do some "independent meets" that have it so he thinks he wants one or two that can run it)

I'll update you all on monday as to my coaching opportunities and specifics.

Best,
Jennifer

Hi TEAM! :wave2:

:hippie: :grouphug:
How much did your little guy weigh? Boy ... correct?
Hagen was 5-weeks early; in the hospital 10-days, he had a few stomach issues, but was more than fine.

Jennifer- :cheer2:

DD got the Wound Vac off Wednesday- The IV and Picc Lines removed on Friday. She still has not been released to go back to work - maybe they will release her for part time on Monday when she see the home nurse again. Her family doctor gave her the name (she did not ask him for it) of the ER doctor who diagnosis her with Shingles, sent her home twice, and could have cost her her life.

Hagen and I got in a 4-miler. Starting the walk my shins hurt a tiny bit and I kept thinking I am in trouble, but it went find. I was very very hot when we got home.

I am going to 'Try' to get to the gym later this afternoon ... It was all ready 80 degree when we got home at 10:am from the walk. The forecast is full sun, high humidity, and highs in the 90's again today.

Okay, I did not see even one response on the question about a portable GPS and I know some of you MUST have them in your cars! DD decided on the Magellan 4700 GPS - it has a 4.7 touch screen; Highway lane assist; Predictive Traffic Routing; Voice Command; Text to Speech Street Name Guidance; Multi-Destination Routing...plus stuff-

Have a Great Weekend: Connie, Eva, Jack, Jennifer, Jen, Jesters, Kathy, Kim, MaryJ, Sue, Jill, Teresa, Terri, Vicky, And Dave & Erica, Denise & Mark, Scott & Lynn

We are off the ship and sitting in the airport waiting for our flight!

We had a great time on the cruise - ate way too much - did a fair job on exercise - Scott did run nearly every morning, I walked several mornings, made it to the exercise room on Mon/Wed/Fri to use the bikes for 35-40 min and do some leg exercises. We both did the 5K on Castaway Cay the first time we got there, but not the second - the heat was brutal!

Hi everyone! It's been a hot and humid weekend in Toronto. I tried to get out early but it was really hot by 9AM. I can't seem to wake up at 6AM on the weekends for some reason. Oh well. The 9 mile LR was a little bit slow. I took about 20oz of water and Gatorade with me and it was all gone by the time I got home. I felt a little dumb about too much when I first started out but was very glad by the end.

Today, I did a 4 mile pace run. I saw another runner on my route and was able to pace him for more than half of the run. Not sure if he appreciated that or not but I managed a 10:06 m/m despite the heat and humidity.

Scott/Lynn - Welcome back! I think that's awesome that you both got in your workouts while on vacation. It's something that I've never been able to do.

Dave - pixiedust: for DD! Keep us updated!

Jennifer - What kind of watch did you end up getting?

Margie - Glad to hear DD is on the mend! Sorry I missed your question about the GPS. DF has a Garmin 750. It comes in handy for road trips but it does take a long time to acquire a satellite signal sometimes. WTG on your 4 miler :)

Sue - What a multitasker! I can't imagine drinking something hot while working out but to each his own. Yes, the Midsummer Night's Run is coming up on Saturday. I don't feel ready for it. Have you run it before? Are there any hills? I can't imagine there are since it's on the waterfront.

Connie - WTG on the 2 miles! I tend to get bored running on the track too. I think that's one of the only places I'll use an iPod.

Have a great night everyone! :wave2

Mom gets to go home tomorrow and baby in a week or so.

When our daughter was born I was in the delivery room with Erica waiting for something to happen and all of a sudden that little green light going bleep bleep across the moniter stopped and it started making a small alarm sound. I assumed the baby's heart beat had stopped and I reached out had grabbed a passing nurse and hauled her in there. The nurse said very calmly, will you chill, the baby just turned from where the sensor was taped to Erica's belly.

We're visiting our DD in Denver this week, so haven't been doing any running. Did take her dogs for a long walk a couple of times though. And I did some crunches to try to ease the pain in my back from sleeping on her futon.

Tomorrow we will start the moving process for them so I may be scarce from the net till next week. I certainly will find the time, even if by iphone to post of Josie joins the world.

Love reading about all the workouts, vacations, promotions, births and general day to day activities.

Take care,
denise

Gooooood Morning Hakuna Matata!!!

Things have been going well. I was cut to part time and my mid-management title had been stripped with the cut-backs, but I had reapplied for my job and the supervisor told me that I had done such a great job in that office and I had the job and she didn't even want to interview me! So...it'll be seamless, no paycuts or anything! I feel bad for those that have lost their jobs at work though. I had been there after 911 and it was not easy.

The baby is coming along just fine and we find out the sex on the 31st. We had tossed around the idea of doing the 3D ultrasound also. Jordan's sister had one with our niece and she loved it. They give you a DVD video and everything!! I'm still watching the weight issue and hoping not to blow up. Something tells me that our trip next month will pack on a few more pounds than I hope! Free dining is dangerous...but oh so tasty!!

I have been getting out to run/walk more. I got 4 hot sweaty miles in yesterday and 2 the day before that. I think I should be going to the gym with the heat as bad as it is. It's probably not so healthy for the baby if I'm bright purple in the face from the heat. I'm hoping to do a 10K October. A couple of my running/walking buddies said they would walk it with me to make sure I didn't push myself. It will be nice to get out there for at least ONE race this season though!

Vicky - Is your trip coming up soon?! What dining did you go with? Ours has changed so many times...and I'm thinking of changing our signature night again as well. And suggestions? We have Narcoossee's booked right now. Jordan likes the idea of the whole lobster.

Denise - Miranda and I keep track of each other on Facebook. She has given me lots of helpful info so far about clothes etc. Good luck with the move tonight! I'm excited for them. Let's hope Josie doesn't come during all the commotion of the move!!

Scott - Lynn will be in my thoughts and prayers. I didn't know until now that she was having surgery. Keep us posted!

Jennifer - Hope school gets better for you. Just think...you are accomplishing something that alot of people can't do. My hubby and I both tried school and dropped out during our first semesters. Keep up the good work...you'll be so glad you did!!! AND congrats on the coaching gig! That's great!!

Dave - I am still praying for for your new little guy...we need him to come home soon!! I'm sure with lots of love and care he will be ready in no time!!

To the rest :wave2: ...happy training and remember to HYDRATE!!! :drinking:
What was Dave's saying...something about "pee clear"? :lmao:

Good Morning Team!

I am again among the living - I was not sure for awhile yesterday, not because of the knee, but because of the pain killer they gave me as I left. It started to hit me as I got home after filling script at Walmart. I felt progressively worse during the day, and by 7pm, I just had to go to bed. The only thing I had to eat after the cookies they gave me after surgery was a piece of toast. I spent the whole day laying down, with ice on 20 min, off 40 min! Today I feel fine, knee still does not hurt (at least until after physical therapy this afternoon), and stomach is fine now that the pain killer is out of my system. I guess the knee was really bad - doc said he did all he could for it without doing a lateral something (moving kneecap over). I will spend the day again with the ice on 20 min, off 40 min, but I can walk fine - the crutches just got in the way.

Eva - glad you got your job back!

Have a great day everyone!

Eva, Thanks for the kind words! And I look at the coaching gig as a chance to have an even bigger impact. If I can get them to want to go to college, even if it is just so they can run that's a major impact. If I can convince them to stay in school or go to class, so they can run that's a great impact. I also can force them to keep their grades up to stay on the team. Luckily even though I'm at the elementary school. One of my best friends is one of the high school Algebra teachers and another good friend is one of the English teachers. I've told them if they ever have any trouble with my runners (academically or behaviorally) to let me know, because it won't happen again or they won't be on the team.

Today's my rest day and I definitely need it. Only two weeks out from that 14.2 mile race on Labor Day!

Jennifer

I did 7.5 miles in 65 minutes this morning (8:40 pace). A little slower than I would have liked, but not to bad. I have one more week of training before a mini-taper. After my labor day race I'll start full scale marathon training instead of half training.

Joan was one of the speakers but I got there too late to hear her.

The Crim 10 miler is major hilly rough course. The hill going up to the 5 mile mark was a huge!

Then after the 10 milers I did the Teddy Bear Trot with Little Hagen. One of the older kids ran into him, he fell skinned his knee, and cut his lip. After a hug, I carried him a few steps, he finished the race and got his medal.

Margie, That's so cool to have been in a race with that many big name runners. Joan Benoit Samuelson was at the Tufts Health Plan 10k for Women when I did it last year and I got to hear her speak.

I did an early (leaving at 5:30 am) long run. 13.5 miles in just over 2 hrs. My next race (a 14.2 miler) is on labor day and it starts at 5 am so I'm trying to get everything figured out. I'm glad I've started trying because I had some stomach distress this morning.

Good Morning:

Well the baby is still waiting to arrive and in the long run, it's a good thing. We started moving Friday afternoon and worked until Sunday at 2pm. She has a 6 room apt on the 3thd floor and bought a condo that has a garage under so it's a flight up to the main floor and another flight up for the bedrooms. Many stairs to climb at both places. Because of my neck I carry nothing too heavy but the stairs sure do play with the front of my thighs, just above my knees. YIKES:scared1:

Miranda has been a trooper through it all. Knowing it has to be done but I pray that we get it done asap so she can have some time to rest before labor starts. It's been very hot here in NH. I guess the humidity will break soon but this weekend has been a real test for all of us.

I do see updates on my iphone when we take a break but actually sitting at the computer to post is rare. I will be sure to either post or text Grandpanda Dave should the princess arrive.

Well coffee, grocery shopping and then quality moving time awaits.

Good Morning Team!

Connie - take care of the ankle!

Sounds like all had a good weekend!

The knee has been up and down, it really hurt after physical therapy, and I learned that the knee was numbed in surgery, and it took 24 - 48 hours for that to wear off - that is why the knee did not hurt at all until after PT! I had one bad day - on a different pain killer for the whole day and night - got no sleep Friday night - but now it does not hurt too much during the day, taking stronger pain killers at night, and just a couple during the day. I have been good about doing the exercises given to me by the PT. I go back again tomorrow for more torture. We are currently working on range of motion, and mild strength exercises. The strength exercises are pretty easy, but the range of motion ones really hurt. He said no heavy walking for at least 4 weeks - so the Disneyland 1/2 is out, he is reserving judgement on the 5K until later. The PT told me the meniscus was torn half way around the knee - so that has all been cut out. The MRI did not show a tear at all, it was just assumed that there would be a tear under the bone spur.

Denise - hope the moving goes well!

Good luck to all the "official start of Goofy training" folks!

Have a great day all!

Less stressed today. I had them organize everything left in the apt so the movers could just take it without much supervision as they may not have too much come Thursday. Nick and I will be on cable and mover duty should they be in labor. He's been a great brother for her.

I go back to work today - to rest and recover! I think one of the most important jobs I had this weekend is calming everyone down. It's amazing what a low calm voice does to people. Next time someone is screaming at you about a situation, try remaining calm and lower you voice, it forces them to lower theirs.

I did get some workout time with the moving but no miles - I didn't wear my pedometer - shucks!

OK, time for warpaint and dress for the day.

Good morning Team!

Denise - Wow, busy weekend. Hope you get plenty of rest before that baby arrives! When my first grandchild was born, I was working. My DD left her door unlocked after her DH went to work, so before reporting to work myself, I would slip in the house, feed him and change his diaper and put him back to sleep! :rotfl: My DD got some much needed rest and the baby and I had lots of time together. He still thinks his Nanny makes the sunshine!

Panda - Busy day. Ever wear a pedomiter when you mow. I did once, the result was interesting.

Jennifer - Changing grade levels, already? Wow, you are a woman in demand! :worship:

Lynn - Are you icing? -- I had a block in my shoulder. When it wore off.....:scared1: I feel your pain...sort of! Good luck. PT is horrible, but working at it makes it .......heal faster!

I got in my first training walk. It felt sluggish, but i expected that. I even did the strength training as asked. As Mary Poppins says, "A job well started is already half done!"

See ya! Connie

Good Morning Team!

Connie - yes, I am icing, the first 2 days was 20 min on 40 min off my whole waking day, after the first PT appt, his instructions were 5 times a day for 30 min, so I do it first thing in the morning, after each of my 3 exercises sessions, and before going to bed. I am only taking pain killers - at half dose - during the night and first thing in the morning, I will probably need them again after my therapy session today. He did say I could ride a bike after he checked me out on a stationary one - hopefully today.

Jennifer - so what grade are you switching to?

Denise - it sounds like you do need to go to work to relax!

Jennifer - didn't you start with 1st grade? They are jumping you around quite a bit, hope the moves are good ones!

Was told by PT that I could not ride a bike outside for at least another week - if I had a stationary bike - that would have been OK. They keep telling me I am in "recovery" mode for 3-4 weeks, so don't look for too much activity or improvement until after those 3-4 weeks. On one hand, they say weight bearing exercise as tolerated, on the other, they say no walking other than around the house, or around a store - so I guess it will be a few weeks before I can get back into a regular exercise program. But I am counting my time for my 30 min exercise routine 3 times a day!

Have a great day all!

Hello team! I apologize for being MIA this week. The internet connection at home has been on the fritz, work's been busy and since I usually don't post on the weekend, it feels like I haven't been around forever. Lots of catching up to do!

I ran my 15K race on Saturday evening. It was a good time - met up with Kim and Mike. The race was a good size and I got a PB of 1:34:52. I did a race report up here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?p=33321030#post33321030

Lynn - Lots of pixiedust: for a speedy recovery! Sorry to hear you won't be able to do the DL 1/2. Do you know about January yet or is it too early?

Sue - I want to try the 30K race next year but am not really sure about running in the dark. Even though, they start an hour earlier, I saw a lot of runners going down Lakeshore when I was headed back to my car. Good luck with your 9 miler tonight :)

Kim - Yay for the Goofy training! You'll have to share your plan with me next year! Eat clean ... hmm... I've heard of that :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 Make sure you keep healthy snacks with you at work. I find my office is a trap when it comes to sweets and snacks.

Jennifer - Are they moving you even though the school year has already started? I hope things go well with the switcharoo! How's the training for the 1/2 going? That's in about 2 weeks?

Dave - Got the pictures from Erica! Aiden is a really cutie pie! He's so small :cutie: I'm glad to hear he's doing well. How about DD? How's she doing?

Denise - Sounds like a hectic weekend! pixiedust: and  for you and Miranda! I will keep your advice in mind about voice volume. I've been guilty of yelling many times in crazy situations.

Connie - How's your ankle doing?

Margie - Congrats on your race! Sorry to hear about Hagen  Hope he's feeling better today! Joan Samuelson is going to be doing a 1/2 in September in Toronto. I think she's scheduled to speak at the expo.

Eva - Yup! My trip is coming up - we'll be there the 1st week of October. We decided to go with the regular dining plan but we'll be going to the Yachtsman and California Grill so we'll probably trade off for a few CS meals. We're also doing Victoria & Albert's (for my birthday!). What are your dates? You must be excited about the ultrasound :)

Phew! That's all for now! Here's hoping my internet gets fixed sometime soon! :wave2:

Hello everyone! Not much of import to report today... Worked out in the gym for an hour and did some deadlifting and other weight exercises. Will try to get out tomorrow morning for a 4.5 mile run since the weather's been nice and cool in the morning.

Booked an appointment for some dental surgery next Wednesday. The dentist is someone who also works out at my gym. She's assured me it's a quick procedure with a laser. It's mostly cosmetic more than anything else but I still want to get it done. OTH, did I mention I'm a huge chicken? Every morning across the fax machine at my desk is a Business Digest. I like to read the stock items, even though I rarely understand them. It’s a one page fax with all sorts of news, and business information. Today I cut out the Development portion to tape to my clipboard. I live by positive attitude and it has changed my life but a little nudge always helps.

Here for your clipping is today’s development section:

Managing your thoughts and emotions:

You cannot manage the world, and you cannot change the people around you. You only have immediate control of your own thoughts and emotions.

Your moods and your attitudes inexorably make you into the person you are to become. Figure out how you need to think and feel in order to be a success.

Plan for the worst, expect the best and understand the difference between positive and wishful thinking. Positive thinking is working for something and expecting it to happen; wishful thinking is waiting for something and hoping it will happen.

Hi all,

Went to the gym this morning. Worked with weights for 30 minutes, then did 25 minutes on the elliptical, followed by a short walk to cool down.

My plan is to walk/run TThS and do other types of aerobic activity on the other days, with Sun. being the exception. It will be a rest day. However, with a new grandbaby expected any day now, plans will probably most certainly change! I'll keep you posted on that one.

Happy Friday everyone! DH and I are taking my in-laws to St. Louis today for his Navy reunion. On the way back, we plan to stop at Cahokia Mounds. We've always wanted to go there, and this is the perfect opportunity. Looks like we might get rained on though.:umbrella:

Lynn...I feel your pain with the knee. Have had knee problems of my own in the past. Hope yours gets to feeling better soon!

Good Afternoon everyone, sorry to be MIA for awhile.

Did anyone see the TODAY show this morning with the kid buried in the sand?

Yes that is my town, over 100 Police Fire and EMS worked to get this kid out, Alive! All the EMS and Fireman are volunteers.

We made it through Bill now we're working on Dan...... :confused3

This must count at some XT training.

Happy Friday everyone! We're expecting heavy rain tomorrow so I'll have to see when I can get out for a run. I was planning to do my 10 miler but may have to just do 5 depending on the weather.

Went jeans shopping today - I now fit into a size 0 at the Gap! Woo-hoo! I know it's not really a 0 but it feels nice knowing the 0 is just a single digit now :)

Denise - Thanks for sharing! I'm guilty at times of the wishful thinking

Lynn - Take good care of the knee!

Jack - Wow! I'll have to Google that story... how did he end up buried in all that sand?

Have a great weekend everyone! Will check back in later! :wave2:

Good morning!

How is everyone? It has been rainy here, unusual for this time of year.

Things are going great and I am off for a 3 miler this morning. Getting more and more excited about going to WDW in January, getting more and more tired of thinking about all the miles between! :rotfl:

Hope everyone is doing well. Denise how is your princess?

Jack sounds like quite a project, Good Job to All.

Run and Dog walk done, BBQ this afternoon, nice day here. We joined a gym today so Lynn woudl haev access to a stationary bike to help her in her knee recovery. I just hate paying for a gym when we haev a TM and bowflex here at home. Oh well I do want her stroner sooner so it si worth it and she is paying.

Have a great weekend.

Hi team! Well, it didn't rain as much as the weather forecasters predicted it would but I still ended up sleeping in. So I decided I would be better off doing the 5 miles today because of time. I ran the whole thing but it was slow starting off. I wonder why I can do races faster than I can training runs.

Just realized that I mixed up a couple of my dining reservations! I booked an Epcot restaurant on a EMH night at MK and an MK restaurant for a EMH night at Epcot. I'm trying to switch them around but reservations are hard to come by with free dining. If I can't, we'll just go with the flow!

Have a great weekend everyone! I'll check back in tomorrow!

Good Morning Team!

As Scott said, we went and joined a gym, I did the family plan so that he could use it for Goofy training. Our membership is on a 6 month special, so we will see if we want to continue the membership after Feb. It will give me access to the stationary bike for the duration.

It is cool and raining here today, Scott was ready for a long run today, oh well.

Have a great day all!

Hi Team.

I didn't sleep well on Wed. & Thurs. nights, so took a Tylenol PM before bed on Friday to insure a good night's sleep. I slept good all right! Didn't wake up till 8:00 on Saturday and was still groggy then. So, becuase there were other things that needed to be done, I didn't get my wog in until almost 3:30 and it was hot! Did a two miles in 29 minutes which is good for me.

Today is a rest day. Left church early because DH isn't feeling well.

Hope everyone here has a great weekend.:)

Hi TEAM! :wave2:

Beautiful day, cooler, partly sunny, and NO rain!
Did my 5.25 miles today right after church today - nice to get it over with and not have to think about it.

:hippie: Hope that little Aiden was able to come home! :littleangel:

Vicky- I wonder why I can do races faster than I can training runs. that’s the way it is supposed to be. Training we usually get to do it alone, carry everything with us, have to deal with traffic, no potty when you need it, and no Bling! Can you imagine the damage you could do to your body if you went full out on every training run/walk! Race Day-we have the hype, excitement, nerves, people, friends, conveniences like port-a-potties, water, fuel, entertainment, the Finish Line, and the BLING!

We make our dining reservations next month - but ours were NOT Free!:upsidedow

Hey Everyone!

I did my 5 miles for the day. I have doubled my mileage for the last few months! You should all be so proud of me!:lmao: I got in over 42 miles. I with Goofy training that number will grow and grow and grow.

Margie -- Excellent stuff on race day speed. I will be happy if I can go 16 minute miles on race day to keep up with you! See you in about 2 weeks!

Scott and Lynn- Have a great time. ::MinnieMo

Mary - Sounds like you needed some rest! :cat:

Speedy Jennifer!

Where are all the little guys? Grandpanda, is he home yet? WHERE ARE ALL THE BABIES?????

Everybody, Make the rest of the month Great!

Hi everyone! Got out and did my 10 miles this morning. It was cloudy and cool - so a great day for running. Not so great for sitting out on the patio though but I'd rather be out running :) I miscalculated my route slightly so I only had 9.5 miles when I got home. I ended up running around the block a couple of times to make up for it

Connie - WTG! With the miles!! I was chatting with Margie and I am in awe of everyone whose in training for Goofy or even a marathon. How's your ankle holding up?

Margie - Make sense about training! Which restaurants are you booking for January? We didn't get free dining either. We're doing it for the first time in October but I have a feeling it's going to be a lot of food!

Scott - Sorry to hear about the chilly weather! But you're going to DL!! I can't wait to hear all about it :) Good luck with the 1/2!

Lynn - The six month membership sounds great! It will be perfect for those days in November and December when it's too chilly to train outside. Have a great time at DL!

Mary - pixiedust: Take care of yourself!

Jennifer - Wow! That's the same time it took me to do my 10 miles this morning! Did it rain for your entire run? Yikes!

Dave - Were you able to bring the little one home this weekend? Got any more pictures :)

Have a great day everyone! :wave2:

Good morning Team,

Well, here it is the last day of August. How can that be? :confused3

Today is a rest day. I  rest days! They are my very favorite. Although, today will be a big housekeeping day. I don't do very well with the house when I am training. It's a problem that I have been working on all year. Instead of being a multi-tasker, I tend to focus like a laser beam. ::yes:: It has advantages, but it has disadvantages........but TODAY is a REST day!!!! :woohoo:

Vickie - turns out, it was a combination of new shoes and achilles tendonitis. I have decided that achilles tendonitis does NOT go away. It can be improved, but I think it's a permanent condition. I have a digital therapy machine that I am using and icing and stretching. But.......

I can't wait to see Margie. We have some fun things planned and we want to figure out where we are going to use our dining options, so we are ready to make reservations first thing.

WHERE ARE THE BABIES??????

See ya! :wave2: Connie

Good Morning Team!

Last day of August! I guess I'd better start adding up totals for posting!

Yes, I figured the 6 month membership to the gym would not only get me thru the knee recovery, but also the training for the half (for me) in Jan. I do not know if Scott will take advantage of it or not, but I added him to give him the chance to. With the membership, we each get 1 free personal trainer session - I will save mine until I have recovered with the knee. Our membership officially starts tomorrow. There are 2 locations, one is fairly close to home, and the other is really close to Scott's office.

Connie - keep up the stretching on the ankles - I think that Plantar Faciitis also never really goes away - I can go for months not feeling a thing, then if I neglect the stretching, I will start to feel twinges in my heel again.

I got a text from Dave or Erica yesterday saying Aiden was home - Dave may be too busy to post!

Have a great day all!
