This weeks show could not be more appropriate with the rising costs of AP's. My husband and I bought AP's (Premium) with the 10% off for referral and it came out to $1322 for 2A and 1C. That is alot of money. My husband said I think we will be exploring other types of passes next year. So my question is what is the best pass to buy as a resident. Just the AP or the seasonal pass. I know we will not get the premium passes again. :scared1:

I feel your pain. We just purchased 3 premium AP's a couple of weeks ago. We had the DVC discount plus the referral. Wow, what a hit that took on the wallet.

My fiance and I just purchase the regular annual pass. We don't need the premium because we only go to a water park about once a year and the seasonal has too many blackout dates for when we want to go. Our renewal price is around $690 dollars after tax which is a little pricey but we go so much we get our moneys worth.

I buy the regular AP and get the Water park AP at a separate time. I more than get my money back.

I have the Seasonal Pass this year for the first time in many years as I knew I would force myself to go more often.

In other past years, I wouldn't go all that often, so I'd buy a 10 Day Park Hopper with no expiration.

What you need to buy depends on your visiting habits. Remember, you can buy a lower priced pass and always upgrade later if you need to.

If you buy a seasonal pass - I think you have to pay for parking. That $12 per visit would add up pretty quickly!

When purchasing passes this past year, we bought 1 Adult annual pass and the rest were seasonal passes (1A, 2C) We never go during the blackout dates anyway since the crowds are usually higher. The only reason I purchased 1 Annual pass was for the free parking.

The referral was a promotion they sent out to all existing passholders this year. It was a card to pass along to friends and such that would give them a 10% discount on a new annual pass. It was not good for renewals.

Was it good with the DVC discount? I didn't know you could get the 10% with the Florida resident AP.

The referral cards are can be combined with the DVC discount; however, you must purchase a new AP, you can't use it for an AP renewal.

We bought the regular FL Res AP with the 10% referral card two weeks ago and it was just under $1000 (2A, 1C)...I knew we would never get our money's worth with a premium and I wanted to be able to go when I wanted to and didn't like the blackout dates of the seasonal

Just to add to your post...TIW is $100 for Fl residents, $75 for Ap holders...I bought my TIW card the week that we moved here to FL and since we weren't AP yet it cost $100...the CM asked if I wanted to wait until we got our AP's since I told her we planned on getting them but I knew it was going to be about 2 months before we got our AP's and we had Kona reservations for that night for group of us so I just paid the extra $25 bucks...I've had it about for a little under 2 months and it's already half paid for itself

Also, 7/31/09 was the expiration date.

We had to pay all at once this time?? I didnt know there was another option. But the discounts we have just found on golf alone make it worth it for my DH. Now he is not balking so much. :rotfl:

They raised the price for AP holders? That sucks... it used to be cheaper than residents.

It went from $60 to $75 in March for AP holders. Someone else posted that it is $100 for FL residents.

We've always gotten the FL SAP (for over ten years) and really like them. We live 6 hrs. away so the SAP works out great for us. We've never had an issue of needing/wanting to go during a black-out time.
