I have been enjoying all of the pix of BLT, but I does not appear that the beach area is accessible...for those who have been there, can you access the sand or is it all fenced off? Although I love BLT, I will be disappointed if the beach is only "for show". One of the things I love about the Poly is the beach access.

That area of the beach was always a bit more "rustic" and natural. It is a very narrow stretch and short as it was not continous. It was not graded either and part of the natural shoreline.
I think being that close to the pool area there would be safety concerns with children wandering off into the lake, so I would hope its gated since it was not a proper sloped beach area.
The Contemporary resort does boast a beach area and it is rarely used from what I've seen.

Having been a cast member at the Contemporary many years ago, the resort never boasted of having a beach. Where resorts like the Poly, Wilderness Lodge and the Beach Club, the guests can enjoy those beaches. The beach at the Contemp is nice to look at, but not really to sink your toes into.

There is a small beach area between the CR lakeside pool and the South Wing.

That's the one I was referencing. It is definitely not as nice as the Poly or Grand but it is a proper beach area.

Looks like there will be a bit of beach with a fence blocking it (as a mom of little one's YAY for that fence). It looks like there may be a gate there leading to it?

Looks like a gate there and then they've got chairs on the beach. ..and a sign that looks like it says no swimming (who in their right mind would want to swim in that water anyway! lol)
We took the tour during our visit last week and the guide said that the beach will be rennovated to make it nicer and useable. He didn't say when.

Awesome!!!!! I was wondering that as my kids love the beach at VWL and BCV, they just love that sand for some reason:confused3

I agree this is nice news, not a huge deal but we are excited and always like the beach areas.

I've always thought the CR beach near the main pool was rather nice. It certainly seems as large as the WL beach.
The one at BLT was never really a beach, just a small area of sand. We used to walk out there and feed the ducks when we used to stay at the North Garden Wing.

I was told by a CM when I took the BLT Tour at BLT that the beach was going to get new sand.
The bocci court didn't have any sand in it yet, when I was there, and I am assuming that they are going to do both at the same time.
I can't wait to stay there.. but I have to wait until Sept.

Thanks for all the great information, I am glad that my toes will have the opportunity to walk through the sand. No matter what the size of the beach, I am glad that it is an option. Can't wait to see it all for myself.

it is a great area to watch the electrical water pageant and I am sure those with bay lake views will be able to see it also.

That's exactly what I was thinking too. Every time that we've stayed at the Poly we've always said we wanted to catch the Electrical Water Pageant and have never done so. I thought that, in buying into BLT, that option was shot, so it would be great if the beach was expanded a bit to accommodate people actually hanging out there.

I actually called my guide yesterday and asked him about the beach. He said they will spruce it up, have chairs out there etc. He said no swiming........yeah I HOPE NOT!!!!!! I really don't care how big the area is, just enough for the kids to go out there and play without having to make a long trek.

Is it just my imagination, or doesn't this hot-tub look as if it is made in the shape of a piece of toast :lmao: only too appropriate for the BLT, wouldn't you say.

You can still watch the EWP from BLT, even if there is no beach. You can stroll over to the beach at the CR and watch it, you can watch it from the boat dock, some guests will be able to watch it from their rooms, you can also watch it from the pool area, but in the past it has stopped right in front of the dock, so the view is better over there. We watched it from the bridge between BLT and CR when we took the tour a couple weeks ago.
