For the last week my container plants have been under assault by an especially aggressive little rodent. Every morning I go outside I have to repair the damage that he's done. I've been using repelllents liberally, but they don't seem to bother him anymore. When I do catch him in the middle of his dirty little acts, I yell (okay, curse), clap my hands, stamp my feet, he backs off, stands up on his hind legs with his front paws crossed over his chest and gives me the evil eye!!
Yesterday, I went outside to find my container of browallia pulled apart. I replanted them, gave them some root stimulator, and now I wait, hopefully they will recover.
I think it's time to get out the trap and re-locate this furry little monster. He doesn't know it yet, but he's a

Squirrels are a pain in the rear, but mine are too busy mating to mess with my pots.

Are you sure our new pup didn't help? Looks just like what he did to all of my pots! LOL I replanted a few times and then gave up. We have our tomatoes planted in a bale of straw that is sitting up on resin chairs so he won't get into them.
We tried supersoakers with the squirrels here a few years ago. After the first day, they thought it was a game! So I wouldn't recommend supersoaker. LOL

Maybe they're the squirrels from the Geico commercial. After you chase them away, they're high-fiving and admiring their mess.

I had the same problem, chipmunks digging in my containers. I laid decorative stones on the soil surface, worked real well in discouraging them. Use the larger variety of stone, makes it difficult for them to move it.

This won't help your problem, but it may lead you to a sense of well being...

When they attempt to get the corn, if they are not balanced right, they fling across the yard. :p

Can you borrow a friend's cat or dog, just for a while, long enough to get their scent around the area? It might discourage the little SOBT :)
