CS dessert question

I just read "somewhere else" that if you do not want your dessert with the CS meal, the cast member will stamp your receipt and you can pick up a dessert later that same day.

This is completely new to me! Has anyone ever done this?

So- assuming this is true, I have some questions...Do you have to get your dessert in the same location, in any CS, or can it be anywhere on property as a snack? Like, can I eat lunch at Pecos Bill's, get a stamped receipt and pick up a Dole Whip later or something from the Main St Bakery- or even something in Epcot or my resort later that evening?

Anyone have experience with this? The other board had several people post they have done this, but I figured I'd here to be sure. :)

I have only heard of this at the water parks. Never at any of the park cs.

I found that if my CS dessert was ice cream, they would stamp my receipt and I had a time frame in which to return, an hour I believe. This was the case at the Pop food court in August.

Now that you mention it, I've heard of this at the water parks too.
And it makes total sense for ice cream.
I bet that's all this was about- saving ice cream for later. :)
