Hi, I'm wondering what kind of advice people have for transportation to and from port canaveral. We have booked a land sea package for 3/2003. 2 adults and 3 kids. So far I have not included the disney transportation. I'm wondering if we would prefer to rent a car or use car service (lincoln towncar type) and have just us in it and be able to leave on our time schedule or is the disney busride a fun adventure and we should choose that? Thanks for any input.:D
Also, how did you guys get those countdowns on your threads?!!!

Since you have more than two people, a towncar would probably be cheaper (and personally I find them more convenient...even tho' there are only two of us, we use Happy Limo because we are lazy). But if you are more adventurous, a rental car is probably the cheapest option. The Disney buses have a video to watch and a bathroom on board, but they are also a "cattle call" and we have been seated in front of "sugar kids" a couple of times...now we like having our own private vehicle. Also, a towncar or rental car allows you to get to the port as early as you want. The buses leave pretty late from the resorts.

Our group of 16 w/7 kids decided we are not adverturous enough to rent cars either. It sounds like too much work and stress :D Disney transpo was too expensive for our blood! In getting others opinions and some quotes on the transpo brd. we discovered http://********.net/ who is a DU sponsor to be very reasonable and will furnish car seats too, which is a plus for us!!!
Disney Slave...thanx....love your up to minute pix :smooth:

Thanks so much you guys. That was a great help. I'm going to check with Happy Limo and the other recommendation. I was thinking the disney bus would be like a cattle call too, so I'm glad I asked! Thanks for the timer info too. I just have to figure out how to add it onto this now!!

We have also booked a land/sea vacation for March 03. We have Disney transfers from resort to port and port to airport. We are arriving on 1 day early so we have to get our own transportation from the airport to the resort. I think I will use one of the towncar services. I haven't decided on which one yet. If anyone has any suggestions, I would appreciate it.

Disneyslave,
I'm thinking we'll do either the towncar service or mears shuttle. I can't remember what we did the last two times. I need to sit down and figure out which is better between cost and convenience. I was told by Disney that I could add the travel insurance and transportation part anytime between now and when we have to pay the balance in January. My son has severe asthma so I think we're definitely going to add the travel insurance just in case something would happen with him. This last year over spring break he ended up in the emergency room while we were at the Wisconsin Dells. We never know with him, however in the past, travelling to warm weather tends to be better for him so hopefully that will hold out.

Renting a car really isn't all that difficult. Many folks on this board have rented a car from Avis, returning it near the port and picked up another Avis car after their cruise which they returned at the airport. Most folks comment that this was much easier to do than they'd expected.
I have info about this potentially money-saving option at my web site...

Also, you don't have to be all that "adventurous" to drive from WDW to the port... the drive is only about an hour... or 45 minutes from the airport. And it's a straight shot on a high-speed expressway. Easy to find. I have directions at my web site...

if you do choose to use Happy Limo, give them a call the day before to RE-confirm your ressies. We booked HL for a 3 way transfer for our Land/Sea pkg (limo service) and 2 out of the 3 times they were late! Actually, at the port, they took another party instead of us! We stood around looking at this HL driver who was looking for another party. Finally we ended up riding with him to the airport. They were very good about grocery stops but I had requested the digital camera for each leg and never got it and our special soda request was only available on the first leg.
These were little snafus, but all in all, we received sloppy service. I would give them another try but this time I would call and reconfirm everything!
Just wanted to give you another view of Happy Limo. (Barb, I don't mean to step on your toes. Just sharing our experience);)
