According to the disney site, there are new room-only discount codes for the holiday value time period. I checked the site and can get six nights at Pop for $398. Woohoo! But, we want to do the dining plan too. I can't do that AND get the room only discount, correct? I even did the "live chat" with an agent on the Disney site and he said no. But, I'm hoping someone here knows how to beat the system!!

Well, you can't get Free Dining and the room discount, but I THINK you can pay for a dining package while retaining the room discount.
Anybody else?

You can either get free dining OR a room discount, but you can't do both.

You can get the room discount and pay for the dining as long as you buy park tickets as well.

In experimenting with the on-line booking tool, it looks like if you book the room only rate, plus tickets, you can add dining, and still come out ahead of free dining. On AKL Savanah view, the room-only, plus tickets and dining is $270 cheaper than free dining package.

For some people, free dining is the best choice, and for others the room discount will be better. It depends on how many are in your party, for example, or where you're staying. Most Disers say that the room discount is especially effective if you're staying at a deluxe resort. With my family, the free dining works best and will save more than a discount for CBR, our resort.

We are a family of 2 adults, and a 10yr old (so they count her as an adult too), and are staying at CBR. For us it was cheaper to do the DV free dining, allowing us more ts meals than we would have normally eaten. So we are pumped! Already have 4 tb ADR's!

Which is the better deal also need to factor in blackout dates. If your trip spans blackout dates then you're paying rack rate for those days if you're on a room discount deal. With free dining, the deal will span the entire duration of the trip. That's what makes free dining better for us. We'd be paying 4 of our 12 nights at rack rate under the room discount but we've got 12 nights of free dining with the FD deal.

when I add anything other than room only using the online booking system it changes everything to a Magic Your Way package and it's much more expensive then FD for our party of 7 (4 Disney adults and 3 children). I figured FD was cheaper but wanted to run the numbers just incase.
