For those tech geeks like myself out there, below is a great "how-to" on combining features within Google Voice and Gizmo5 to provide free VOIP phone service.

Google Voice is still technically in Beta I believe so it's an invitation only service currently, but if you jump on the waiting list you will probably get the invite within a week.

So far I’m using this setup on my laptop and it works great – call quality very good. I’ll probably continue using it for another 2 weeks and then purchase an ATA device (~$50) so I don’t need to rely on my PC being turned on to make/receive calls.

For those familiar with Skype this is very similar, just without the monthly cost factor to reach someone on a landline. :goodvibes

i am doing a very similar scenario with IPKALL, GIZMO5 and my Asterisk Servers. I use the Asterisk boxes for broadcast quality codecs that we use for Hi-Def audio and video calls. Fun stuff!!

I have a decent amount of testing on my laptop and so far so good. I have a PAP2 through Vonage and will probably work to unlock it this weekend.
