I just had my one year thyroid cancer free appt with my doctor last week, but I've also been awaiting biopsy results on a mole I had removed. They said they would call only if it wasn't good news. They called at 9:30. I have to come in today for the results (which I already know are not good). So now I'm sitting here watching the clock move slowly until I have to go to the doctor while trying to put on a happy face for my two year old. Inside I'm a complete mess. I hate this. I thought I was done with all of this. I just need your prayers right now. Thanks.
I JUST GOT HOME. UNFORTUNATELY, IT WAS MELANOMA, BUT I CAUGHT IT EARLY. I HAVE SURGERY SCHEDULED FOR FRIDAY. AS THE NURSE SAID, I'M VERY LUCKY TO HAVE CAUGHT IT EARLY. IT'S JUST A LITTLE DISHEARTENING TO HAVE JUST PASSED MY ONE YEAR THRYOID CANCER FREE MARK AND NOW I FEEL LIKE I'M AT STEP ONE AGAIN WITH THIS. I KNOW I'M LUCKY TO HAVE HAD TWO DIFFERENT CANCERS THAT WERE BOTH VERY TREATABLE. I WILL BE POSITIVE! :) THANK YOU FOR YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS. THEY MEAN A LOT!
BTW THE DR. SAID NO OCEAN WATER WHEN I TOLD HIM I HAD MY DISNEY CRUISE COMING UP IN 3 WEEKS. ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR THINGS TO DO AT CASTAWAY CAY INSTEAD OF SWIMMING?

My thoughts and prayers to you :(
You are in my thoughts and prayers. I have a family member who has survived many years after her Thyroid cancer treatments. Perhaps this follow-up may be related to a chemical imbalance, and not a reocurrence or a problem with the mole.

Oh man, I'm sorry Kathy. It certainly sounds like good news that it was caught early, though. And you sound like you have a positive attitude, and that will account for a lot!

It sounds like you need a massage on cc! There are lots of other nonwater activities (the Heads up bar has great views and is a PCC 1.0 favorite). DH and DS enjoyed the sports pavillion- billiards, basketball, giant floor-sized checkers, etc.). You can rent bikes and ride around the island as well- it's a great way to see areas other than the beach.
And there's the beach itself where these nice people with nametags will bring you cold frosty beverages in exchange for your autograph.
I'm sorry you're going through this again, but very happy that it seems to have been caught early.
Hope some of these ideas work for you. :-)

:worried: Ugh, I'm so sorry. But at least it was caught early! :grouphug: Big hugs for you and I'll send a prayer and pixie dust your way.
I don't know anything about Disney cruises to give you advice about Castaway Cay- but just enjoy it! You deserve it! I like the riding bikes idea :)

Kathy- I have Melanoma and have had it for over ten years. I have had 10 spots removed and all have been abnormal....it is extremely frustrating but if you catch them early enough, it is perfectly fine.
The real trick is to watch yourself. I know it sounds odd but my husband takes pictures of areas I can't see (my back and my scalp) and I use a full length mirror at least once a week to look at all my spots.
Unfortunately I am a red head and have ton of freckles but I keep up the good fight.
I have great things to read if you are interested.
As for CC, we just got back from our cruise and I would say, STAY on the ship. It was empty and we had a great time!
I am thinking of you.

Hi Kathy,
I know you didn't get the news you wanted, but I love the positive tone in your message! I second the poster that said you should get a massage at CC!
