Toppers & Tags due October 16

This is a simple swap. For each group you're in, you will make a title:topper and one element choice.

1. Due date is October 16. That is when I need to receive your package. Mail by date is October 9, to make sure your package arrives to me.

2. You pick your topic when you sign-up

3. Please limit yourself to 2 groups when signing up if I have not swapped with you before.

4. Required: You will make ONE Topper and ONE element choice from the list below for each person in your group. There will be a different number people per group so please double check your amounts.

5. Packaging Instructions
Place your completed elements in a Ziploc bag with your DIS name, name and group number. Place all your baggies for a group in a GALLON size bag, and label with the same. Please use a gallon bag – even if your pieces are smaller and may not require it, the pieces you will be getting back may be bigger.

6. Postage:
Please include cash, check or stamps (No Click-it/ship-it postage). If you are in less than 4 groups, include $4.95 for the priority envelopes. If you are in 4 or more groups, please include $10.35 for the priority box. If you would like delivery confirmation on your returned swap, also include the $0.65 and a filled out slip.

7. PM me with your name, address, email address, contact phone number- even if you have swapped with me before. If you have problems and need to drop out or if an emergency happens (we all know things happen beyond our control sometimes), let me know so we can make arrangements for an angel or other help if needed.

8. Most importantly HAVE FUN!! I know we all get worried about our stuff sometimes. I know everything will be GREAT! Just make something you would be proud to have in your own albums, and everyone will love it!!

Suggestions for embellishments include:
Die cuts, stickers, stickles, flock, ink, chalk, brads, charms, flowers, eyelets, ribbon/fiber, sewing, tearing, embossing, stamping, clipart, additional layers of paper beyond double mats (if it would look weird trying to fit in another embellishment, specialty paper (such as embossed, glitter, Bling).

If you can think of no way to embellish your item, without it looking weird, you can provide an embellishment not attached to your item, such as a Cricut icon cutout, or a set of 4 brads/eyelets, a yard of ribbon/fiber, etc.

Note: Please no handwritten items.

In general, please follow the “hopemax” guidelines for quality – Do you love it? Are you proud of it? Would you use it in your book? If you can answer yes to those 3 questions, you should be fine.

The title topper could be paper pieced names on the Cricut carts, welded (SCAL, DS, Wishblade etc) words or traditional 8x2, signage 6x2, license plate [the last three must be embellished]

The element is to be chosen from the list below:
Photo Mat: 1 PP first/top layer no smaller than 6-1/4 x 4-1/4, double matted and embellished
Journaling Box: 1PP at least a 3x3 writing area, double matted with actual journal area placed on top of the two mats and embellished
Tag: 1 PP for medium or large tags, 2 pp for 2x3 tags, double matted and embellished two ways, include either ribbon/fiber or eyelet/brad in the hole. May include both....the fiber and or eyelet does not count as part of the 2 embellishments.
Embellished Shapes: 3PP 1-1/2x1-1/2 or larger if you wish, double matted and embellished. These can be circles, squares, flowers, etc. be creative. If it is a shape that would not look right double matted please use your best judgment.....Just make up for it in another way. Maybe make a few extra or throw in something extra.
Slide Mounts: 2PP be creative here please
File Folders or Matchbooks: 1 PP if medium size or lager, 2 pp if mini sized. Please make sure to enclose a blank page in the matchbook if this is the element you choose to do.
Bottle Caps: 2PP if metal, 4PP if paper
Library Pocket and Tag: 1PP embellished, no smaller than to hold 2x3 a tag that should have ribbon/fiber or eyelet in the hole
Shaker Box: 1PP be creative please
Paper Piecing: 1PP be creative please
License Plate: 1PP be creative please
Signage/Bookmark: 1PP 2x6, double matted and embellished
Song/Lyric/Poem: 1PP, double matted and embellished
Altered CD cover: 1PP be creative please
Altered letter: matted at least 4 inches
Altered Paper Clips: 3 large size ones

I am opening up new groups as the old ones fill just in case later on in the week, when I said I would start sign ups, there are folks who would be sad to see all the groups filled.

These fit nice in the folders for swapping out, so I can handle more groups than I could if we had pages or multiple elements.

I had a great time getting to meet AWM in person. She is such a sweetheart! Our kids sat together at scrapcamp and made a really cool fold out Disney themed mini book. Fun times! Both kids share the same favorite ride too..Space Mountain. :)

Your pages groups will each be in 2-gallon baggies - 2 baggies for 2 groups.
You can put your 3 t'n't groups each in a one gallon bag and then put them in a 2-gallon bag. You will have 3 2-gallon baggies. You may put them all in one box. They should fit in a regular $10.35 box. If you are willing for both swaps to be complete, I can send them back in one box. You save yourself postage this way.

If you want to keep The Great Movie ride, then do so and I'll do the playground.

I was nervous about using the gooey one, but it was actually pretty easy.

My only problem was that with my picket fence, all the little bottom chopped-off pieces got stuck in the channel, so I had to pull them out with tweezers (which was easy once I realized why I couldn't slide the next piece of paper in). I don't think I would have the same problem with a photomat or anything else.

The photomat is black with lots of little .75x.75 inch yellow squares glued onto it. :faint:
Each topper has a different brad in place of the oranges on the real Florida license plate.
The ribbon is 12 inches, and I thought it looked like a road and was cute... do what you will with it. :)

I went over the fence in actual white paint, to give it some texture. It looks better now, I think. And I made the little paper-pieced brushes on the title and painted them too. I was trying to tie in with things in the book... I'm happy with this one.

I think wood is okay. But I don't know for sure. As long as it doesn't touch the photo, I don't see the harm.

Is there someone who knows more about the acid levels in wood that can help?

I'm on a mission this weekend to find the last of my paper... my J's hasn't had in stock the co-ordinations cardinal that I've had my title cut in...but I have the 2 other colors... and I know what I am doing... so as soon as it get my cardinal, I'll finish my last element and out the door these will go and I'll be swap FREE, right before the sports seasons are in full swing at the end of the month!

I would think gold on blue or gold on brown would look better. There's a picture of a sign on a building (not a great picture of the sign) at this link that shows the gold on brown. There's also lots of places in the Morocco pavilion that have lots of pretty blue and gold like in the 2nd link (large picture on right - the archway and fountain).

Prototype - 5B Epcot Countries - Germany

We loved the pretzels in Epcot Germany! So, that and my Mr. Potato Head WoD NYC mickey head pretzel piece were my inspiration for these designs. The large Mickey circle has a 4-inch opening and the two ears have 3-inch openings. These will only be attached to the black background in the center areas (at the top of the head and on the inside sides of the ears), so that photos can easily be slipped between the layers. Hope this makes sense and that you like it!
