Mailing Back ACTIVE Progress Topper'nTag Swap

Thanks! I had a piece of scrapbook paper that was from a long time ago. I was saving it to do a wreath layout for Epcot out of flags. I color copied (onto scrapbook safe paper) that piece of flag paper and reduced the size 50% then I cut out all the tiny flags. I used a coluzzle circle template to make the ring and the base for the shaker box. It was tough doing a circle with the foam mounting tape though so if I was doing it again I'd make a square or rectangle shape to save time. I'm glad you like it. I have some extra tiny flags that I ended up not using. If you'd like them I can send you some. Thanks again for the compliment!

I did a topper with a monorail stripe on the letters. The infamous phrase "Please stand clear of the doors" in english and spanish is computer printed under the cricut letters.

A special thanks to Dis member milliepie on the Dissigns section for her super creative design of a monorail with tons of characters in the windows. So cute!!! I made the train 2 pieces so that you can but them up to the center of the layout and have 1 train on the left and 1 train on the right. it's too long to fit on a single 12x12 page. If you needed to, you can cut a section off of the monorail train to make it shorter though--in case you only do single page layouts for example. I matted it and embellished it with stickles and crystal lacquer.

Is everything okay? The title topper isn't singing to me this time...any ideas for improvement are welcome. Thanks gals!

Soarin' Group: I included a photomat because both the title and the photomat are only one layer & not embellished - I didn't want to ruin the cloud effect, and I couldn't think of anything else to do. They're both made of Core'dinations though, so if you sand them, it's blue underneath, if you want that effect behind the photo or something.

Can everyone tell that that's the hang glider from that one scene with the waterfall? I hope so.... it's popdotted on each layer.

When you guys get swaps back, do you keep everything in their separate bags, or do you stick all the things in one bag and use the tiny ones again? I'm trying to reuse bags, otherwise I would have run out after the first group! I had to go through the Color and Cruise Swaps and stick things together.... as it is, I'm running low on tiny ones again... people may be getting a topper & photomat in a 2.5 gallon! :rotfl:

In reference to bags (you can just call me the bag lady): I have... 9 little ones left. Yep. Nine.

I had to put my star tours pieces into gallon bags, because the little ones were too small, so that's why I even have any of those leftover....

I think I'll be hitting up Walmart, because I don't like having all the Color Groups together, you're right, it's hard to tell them apart. If I get them soon, I'll be able to remember what goes with what.

But I'm done bagging! I need to put labels on a few more of the outside group bags, squeeze everything into the box, tape it up, and then I'm done!

I just have Epcot & Mission Space to cut out & do. I also realized after going through my stuff, that I only made 6 Japan sets :scared1: so I have to go back & make another 5. I have Jury duty (selection) on Wed. so I'm planning on having everything cut to bring with me - a little glue & paper to make the time go by faster ;) I've never gone for jury duty before but have always wanted to go.

I hated the Epcot tags I had tried to do so I'm "revising" them right now. I was able to get a little bit of scrappy things done during jury selection...and have been selected to serve on the jury for a criminal case. It's very interesting, but a little stressful to get things in order to do it. I'm a consultant and a substitute teacher & don't get paid for either when I don't work :(
The trial won't begin until the jury is finished being selected so I have a few more days. Anyway, I'll try to get these out by tomorrow, but if I can't, I will surely have them at the post office first thing Tues. morning with Priorty shipping/DC.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I may be late getting these back to you.

One of our swappers had a mishap on the way to the post office. Rather than have them rush to make things just to make things, I asked them to take their time and make stuff they are proud of. I'm sure they would have anyway, but at least this will relieve some of the stress.

I am planning on swapping these out next Thursday and packing them up on Friday the 23rd. If I can get them done in time I will mail them Friday. If not, I will take them Saturday morning before I take the boys to the quarterly allergy doctor visit.

Thank you all for waiting and being patient. I have not opened up all the boxes, but what I did see is really great.

ok, here are my pictures. Please bear with me, they are extremely grainy. I'm sorry. But when you get them in real life they will be crisp and clean!

Group 1 - Buzz Lightyear. This is not glitter paper, that is how grainy the picture is. But his title is done with metallic silver paper. The paper colors are purple, green, and red. Believe me when I say they match Buzz! Unlike this picture with the black looking background.

Group 2 - Jasmine. I had fun getting all Arabic with her, also the gold disks are real gold coated! The squares have rinestones in the center.

Group 3b - MK Lands. Frontierland. Guess What? I found an item that won't hold glue dots! The twine on the topper, so when you get your bags the twine will be separate and I had to remove the glue dots from the toppers. I wanted to add Mickey to the topper but it wasn't working for me, so I just threw him in there separately. The topper is still twice embellished since I embossed the paper to give it a wood grain and it has eyelets. The post is also wood embossed.

Group 4b - MK Ride. Astro Orbitor. I used my new Silhouette for the topper, black on metallic silver. The rocket tags are metallic silver with glitter paper accents.

Group 8 - Animal Kingdom. Expedition Everest. The topper was done with the Silhouette and the other piece is a paper piecing.

No, it's not SCAL -- I decided instead of going the Cricut route to buy a Silhouette by Quickutz. It is a cutting system that "runs" off your computer, so there are no cartridges to purchase. It has a software program that will work with any TrueType font on your computer. It also has a welding feature for the letters. You can import dingbots or trace pictures to cut picture items instead of letters. If you aren't creative (or don't have time to create it) they have a site were you can download images for $1.99. The image is then yours to cut however many times you want. I bought the machine new for about $122 (watched E-Bay for a good price).

So, for example, my Mt Everest pieces. The topper was taken from a Dis site and then I traced it on the computer program to cut it out. The mountains I purchased for $1.99. It also allows you to print and then cut. So for the Jasmine I found a really cool font, printed it, and then ran the paper through my Silhouette and it cut around the word.

I figured the machine would pay for itself in just doing letters, but setting it up to cut pictures was easier than I thought.

ZTH, I'll give this a try~ you have 2 pieces in a group because the other person dropped and Im in the same boat so what AWM would do is just swap that extra piece so you still end up with 6 different items including your own.
All of a sudden that extra piece has become a "Surprise" swap.
Does that make sense? I often know what I want to say but have problems getting it out!:rolleyes1

I had not realized just how many of you are in the same groups that have the swapper missing. Trying to keep you from just two of what you will already have is harder than than I thought. I can't just keep the extras to side and then drop them in willy nilly like I originally thought. So I've been trying to swap two groups at a time that have least amount of same swappers. tyniknate & zerotohero are in so many groups, I just can't not give you something you may already have. Its tough going for PirateTink, DIT & 123SA too. And forget me. :rotfl2: I'm just going to have the leftovers and smile. :teeth: I'm afraid that there will be duplicates in your packages. :sad1:

I expecting a zoo for the vaccine. It may be a while before I get back or it may be soon if they run out before we get there.
What a hassle. There were 70 students and 7 teachers out in the middle school today. We have like 900 in the ele, mid and high together. :sad2: But because the aren't CONFIRMED, the school doesn't have to close. Idiots. Ohio is only testing those how are hospitalized or children who are DEAD. I am not happy they are waiting for children to DIE.
I'm just a little fired up about it. I think they should close for ANY illness that affects that many students. Kentucky closes when they reach 15% out. Course that is because their funds are tied to daily attendance records. But still, at least they are consistent in their approach. Okay, off of my soapbox. I'm going to make a cup of tea and then go to bed.

Yay I'm in the first group :banana: I will be waiting happily for it!

Good luck on the vaccine -- our town closed the local public Middle School and one of the Elementary Schools this week due to the illness. Our doctors were telling us to stay home unless our kids had really bad symptoms, so they weren't testing to see what it was. It really doesn't matter, if you have 40% of your kids gone. The pharmacies ran out of liquid Tamiflu and our Walgreens was almost out of liquid tylenol and motrin (although they got restocked pretty quickly) It was crazy around here. One of mine got hit and she missed 3 1/2 days of school -- but luckily we never got crazy with the temperature liek many of my friends.

Banana woke up this morning with HIVES! Dont have a clue how she got them. Took her to the dr, got lunch, gave her benedryl and she zonked out!
Santa came while she was asleep and I couldnt open the door because the alarm would go off and I didnt want to wake her so I had to WAIT!
We had a great time opening and looking at everything when she woke up!
She got the biggest kick out of DITs Norway! I think she needed that because she is a kid who likes school and I kept her home today so the bumps would go down!

Wow! Everything is so cool! Thanks everyone. Thanks AWM for hosting and the clorox wipe! I was going thru them today at work cleaning out my desk. Only 3 more days and I'm retired! :banana::banana::banana: My employer offered an early retirement so I took it. 22 years and out and I'm noteven 50 yet! I work in county government and we have been laying off this year, plus other changes so it's a good time to make a change. DD is excited that she will have me around 24/7 (Let's see if she is thrilled when she is 14-15?!)

OT-Found out from a mom at choir, one of her kids has the H1N1 flu. They live a couple of streets over from us. Guess they give her Tamaflu.

Everyone who had a box should have had some coupons & samples tucked in between the baggies. I know I didn't sent any to Princess Jayne because of her being in the UK and all. If I missed a box, I am really sorry. :sad1: I thought I got them all.

Oops, just re-read your post. I guess I read it wrong thinking you had the pictures but they didn't get uploaded. If you need a photo of the monorail set it's buried in the posts in this thread somewhere... when I made it I posted a photo. It's no big deal either way. Sorry about the confusion!

No. I messed up some and am a few short. But it was my mistake. As long as I didn't short anyone else, it's all good.

Nope. I was only stating that so you know that if I missed giving you something, that it was unintentional. I tried really hard to make sure everyone had the 6, 7 or 11 pieces they were supposed to have in each baggie. I just kept putting my incomplete ones to the side.
