It's weird- on the special offers page it says "
FREE Dining For Your Family

* Choose the Delicious Deal That Makes Your Disney Vacation More Affordable!

Get a taste of real vacation value with a package that rolls a Disney Resort hotel room, theme park tickets and a FREE dining plan into one wonderful package. Choose from 2 delicious deal options. Travel select nights between 10/4/09 - 12/17/09."

I hope they aren't cutting it off in November!

There is a room only offer too! Check the fine print where it says something like "Not interested in a package?" I plugged in 11/29-12/6 at Pop and it came up $465- $548.94 would be full price.

I don't see that on the special offers page - I just see the one that ends Nov 24. BUt at the bottom of that it says "not interested in a package, click here for the room only offer" and then it takes you to a booking page that says Oct-Dec room-only, but nowhere does it say the rates!

They must still be updating because different parts of the site say different things -- even in the Florida resident area if you access the offers one way you get just the code through 10/3 but if you go in another way you can see the FL resident rtes for Oct-Dec. FRUSTRATING!!

Happy for the ones who likes it, but personally, I would have preferred room only discount... FD is not good for me... I do not eat dessert, you tend to eat too much because you do not want to loose credits and it is not free anyway because you still have to pay gratuity and the breakfast is not included .

Well, maybe in march... I will dream of that wonderfull 4/7 + $200.00 promotion !

We already have a reservation at POP with the DP. Does anyone know if you can get the CS FD but just pay the upgrade fee? Is there a separate code for that like there was for Visa FD? I have to wait for my TA to be up to apply FD - ugh! Maybe booking on your own has its perks!!

Since DH and I have never been to Disney, I don't know if we'd come out better with FD. How much does a couple normally spend on dining there? We would need to buy a ticket to get the deal, right? We already have 7 day tickets.

We already have reservations on a 7 day hold, but the room only deal would save us around $180.

Yes- I booked online, and did just that.

I had a room only res with my AAA agent, but I did not want to wait for her to roll in at 10, so I just booked online myself, and will cancel with her. I didn't want to take any chances.

It's hard to say. You can see menus with pricing on allears.net. Compare what you'd spend out of pocket and see if you come out ahead- you'd have to buy at least a 1 day ticket.

My husband and I went for 10 days in January 2009. We don't like to be tied to ADRs or worry about whether we want an appetizer instead of dessert, etc. We ate at several TS restaurants without ADRs, bought snacks as the urge hit (sometimes multiple snacks instead of a CS lunch), sometimes had breakfast at a TS restaurant, etc. Since we had family on the same trip using the DDP, we kept track. We ended up spending exactly the same amount as we would have with the dining plan, but without worrying about whether it "met" the guidelines of what was and wasn't included on the DDP.

So for us, it wouldn't have saved us any money and would have increased my headaches.

But I know we're in the minority. Lots of folks love the DDP and swear by it.

For 2 adults you would be saving $39.99 per adult per night...so $80/night. Can you eat on $80 per day or less? $80* 7 = $560 savings

Ok, so if I get the FD, does the room deal come with it? Would I get POP for $59 a night?

Room only discount OR the Free dining. They don't allow you to stack discounts.

I just read another post saying they were stuck on hold for 1/2 hour and called from the cell phone and got t hrough after 15 mins.

:wizard:

That was me. I would hate for someone to miss it b/c they are in hold limbo. Something weird happened on the house phone. I got different questions than on the cell.

Yes, you can. This morning I changed my existing reservation with free dining to room only discount and added QSDP, which we prefer over the regular dining plan.

Room only discount OR the Free dining. They don't allow you to stack discounts.

The room only would save us $180.

FD would save us $560-ish. So if we went with FD we'd have to buy two tickets for $140 so we'd really save $420. Does that look right?? :confused3

But isn't FD only good for 5 days?

2BR VWL, 6 nights 11/29-12/5 for 5 adults, 3 kids, free dining 1 day base tix -- $4875.

Also, I got FD for my dad and stepmom for 3 nights the first week of December. I think they WANT you to book for 5 nights but will let you book for less, at least in a deluxe. Maybe it's 3 might minimum mod and deluxe and 5 night at the values?

I would, yes. For that VISA package, the deposit and balance need to be paid on the Disney VISA -- if I were you it would give me peace of mind to know they have the correct code!

I just called (and was on hold for 45 minutes) and spoke to a wonderful CM and was all set to change my reservation for the FD discount - saved me just under $1000!! :woohoo:- and she said that they had some good AP discounts so she checked to see which was better - I have now saved $1100 with the AP discount and paying for dining!:yay:I am so excited...I may add on a day!

If this situation applies to anyone else..check and see which deal saves you more cash - it totally worked out for me!!!

Star2500, not sure if I misunderstood - did you say there's also a pkg. code released today? If so, what's the discount?

My Dreams U. TA emailed me this morning that she got us free dining (wasn't even sure I wanted it, but she got it anyway - she's great!), but even a measly 25% discount off rack rate would actually save us and the 2 sets of grandparents much more since we're staying at the GF...

Do you have any info. that can help - I'm getting the sweats trying to do the best for my parents and in-laws...:scared:

Is it just me?

I called and added the free dining to my reservation. came to $2206 for Nov 12-20, 1 adult 1x6yr 1x8yr, POFQ, dining, park passes (NO hopper or waterparks) tax.

I just priced out on line, with the room discount only. I kept adding....1st added the park passes, then added the dining.

The total that I am getting is: $2153.34 for the same thing. using the room discount, and paying for our dining. Does that make sense?!

Marie, you should check the website. I too prefer a room only discount. I just searched my dates on the Disney site for a room only reservation. I called and changed my reservation I was able to save quite a bit. The woman told me the code was KHP.

Thank you f155robyn and Keywestbride for your advice. I am on the phone right now , and my fingers are crossed (wich makes it very difficult for me to type this message! :) !

The CM I talked to this morning was not as useful as yours. She told me there was nothing she could do if I did not have a code for her....

Hi Phyllis....yes there's a Fall Room Only discount...averaging 35% on select resorts. That should save 2 Adults more than the Free Dining. Free Dining is saving them $80/night. even 30% off a room rate at grand floridian can be more savings:)

I'd check into it definitely and compare.

PRICE IT OUT FOLKS! Free dining may not be the best deal for your situation!!

By booking under the 'room only' discount, then ADDING park passes, and ADDING dining, my package price is $50 cheaper!

$50 is an excursion or 'emerg' money tucked away....I will take it!

a*lil*bit*goofy
07-27-2009, 10:48 AM
They might have added insurance automatically.
Nope.

It is actually cheaper! Go figure!!!

I just called, and she said "wait you are right! " she even double checked it. So I am changed over to the room discount, and paying for dining, (which AGAIN I may not want. it may be cheaper for me to NOT pay for dining, since I know i won't spend money on desserts etc. )

So today I am going to price out dining vs no dining and paying out of pocket. :rotfl:

I figure if it is within $50 either way , i will keep it so that I don't have to budget with money on hand while I am there.

star2500
07-27-2009, 10:51 AM

we come out better NOT doing free dining...we have the AP 40% off pin.I am going to pop for 6 nights with reg dining for 900.00.If I used free dining I would be paying 109 plus tax for the room,20.00 extra to upgrade to reg dining per night and 1 day tix for my dh and myself.so it is not really worth it to stay on the phone forever to change it.

star2500
07-27-2009, 11:10 AM
Definitely compare the discounts....the resort, which dining plan you have, etc. can all make some difference in saving a little more money.

And even if you get one applied, take a breath and then price it with the other promo....just so things don't get confusing:)

star2500
07-27-2009, 11:15 AM
It's hard sometimes....to know what everyone exactly wants. To some people there is more value for the Free Dining if the difference isn't that much because they could be spending way more than what the Dining Plan actually costs. To some people who don't eat too much....they would never spend that much on food anyway...so not as much worth to them.

Sometimes there are no availability for certain resorts with the Room Only.....or for the Free Dining..there are MANY factors to take into consideration.

But nothing wrong with just double checking.

I'm so nervous to book this. I doubt FD would be cost effective for us, but I just don't want to miss out. It would be so nice not to worry about dining.

But it would be nice to only pay $465 to stay at POP!

eta - Actually it's only $398! I've been putting an extra day on there the whole time!!!
Let me make sure I got this straight, if I have 7 day tickets, I'd stay from 11/29 - 12/5. Right?
