Thanks alot Dave. I guess I haven't explored your site as well as I should. I think she was thinking of jetski rentals. I have heard some bad things here. Any comments pro and con from anyone?

There are jet ski rentals at the public beach on Paradise Island, and the price is negotiable. Even tho' they are by the hotel, all of the rental people are independent. We had no problems the first couple of times, but then hubby rented a jet ski that konked out literally in the middle of the ocean. I was not with him, as I am a wimp girl and prefer to stay near shore. He finally drifted to shore and had a LONG walk back. He made the mistake of telling them where he'd left the jet ski before demanding his money back, and they took off in a boat. So if you rent a jet ski there, beware!!

Are you taking your Girl Scout troop on the Disney Cruise? I am going on my third Disney Cruise this year, and the co-leader of my Girl Scout troop asked me if I thought we could take all the girls on a Disney Cruise one day. I told her that I thought it would be WAY too expensive. But I have heard of troops doing big trips. I just don't see how they can afford it unless the parents pay for most of it.

That is so wonderful! How many girls are in your troop? I am guessing you are Cadettes or Seniors. I am SO jealous.

Maybe I won't totally dismiss the whole idea of my troop going one day. My troop is too young (Juniors).....but time does go by quickly and before we know it they would be old enough for something like this.

I would simply love to hear a trip report. Are you on the Girl Scout Travel List or the All Girl Scouts List on Yahoo Lists?

I tried sending you and email with lots of questions. I hope you don't mind. I would love to take my troop on this trip one day. You guys are so lucky!

I would be really leary of some of the jet ski rentals out there. A few years back, DH & I were on a Radisson cruise and had booked an excursion that took 2 couples on a 3 hour long private snorkeling trip. We were pretty far out when we saw 2 women floating around in the middle of the ocean! We went over to see what had happened to them. Their jet ski had started throttling out of control & had dumped them into the water. They had pulled the "kill switch" but the jet ski had drifted too far away, and neither was a strong swimmer. They had been out there for over an hour at that point, too weak to wave their arms or yell. We took them back to the hotel where they had rented the darn thing, and instead of being grateful, the guys there just started yelling at the women that it must have been their fault, etc... All they could think about was how long it might have taken for these guys to notice (or care) that they were late in returning.

That must have been soooo scarey. And I know all I would be thinking about is sharks! Thanks for that point of view. ( this is mom now, not DD....wish she'd stay off here..)
Maybe there is a little more reasurance with Disney excursions.
