Hi, I have a Western Excursion Q; It just doesn't seem like 60-75 minutes is enough time at the beach. I am sure they don't mind if you get transportation back yourself, however, will the beach club let you stay in your chairs, etc.
I understand this is a relatively new cruise destination, but any advice would be appreciated! Thanks

I did this excursion on our May 11th cruise. We have cruised DCL 3 times and this was the worst excursion we've ever done. I was so upset that I called the excursion desk the minute we got back to the room. It cost our family of 4 $154. We had to meet at 11:30am-the only opportunity to eat before going was breakfast. We didn't get back to the ship until 5:30pm and had to hurry to get to 6pm dinner. We were gone that long and not given any other meal-only pop which was from a 2L bottle poured by the guide (beer was also available-also poured from large bottles) and you were given 1 ticket for a drink at the beach. The only place you could get some type of lunch was at the beach club-$15 a person and if you would have eaten there you would have missed all the beach time. I have 4 year old twins and they don't drink pop or beer so they were out of luck. The bus ride was long, boring and have to say that the ruins were just as long and boring. I've been to the Mayan ruins by Cancun and compared-these were just piles of rocks. By the time you get to the beach and get yourself set up, you only have about 45 minutes before you have to get out and get yourself packed up and back to the bus. And if you don't have a watch-you're going to be really out of luck. I spent the whole time staring at my watch to make sure we wouldn't be late and have to pay for a taxi back. We had no time to shop in Cozumel. I would have enjoyed the excursion that was 4 hours at the beach club and included lunch. Our kids kept asking when they were going to eat and DH was so sick from not eating lunch and being in the hot sun he missed dinner that night-which was the best meal on the cruise. You asked about saved chairs-there were no saved chairs for us-we had to find our own. We were given wrist bands outside the beach club and given a meeting time-that was it.

One thing to beware of is that the excursion lengths listed by Disney are WAY understated. We learned this the hard way on our 5/25 cruise...on almost all of them, we returned 1 to 2 hours later than the stated length. Normally I wouldn't mind, but we had spa appointment booked after most of them. I left a "cushion," so we made it, but just barely!! Hopefully Disney will revise the times to make them more realistic. We really enjoyed the excursions, particularly the Jeep Tour (which also offers a great beach experience) and the island tour/snorkeling with stingrays.

Thank you so much for the feedback. I was really wanting to do a private beach thing but was worried about my neice not getting to see some kind of historic artifact in Mexico. I think we are just going to go on our own to Mr. Sanchos and then walk around the waterfront shops in the early evening.
Again, thank you for all the advice. I am sure others may have different opinions, but I was thinking it might be just as you said it was from the get go...Laura
