I am a new DVC member. We currently have a cash stay booked in August. We discussed switching to points but couldn't get the resorts we wanted. Will we have access to DVC perks/facilities? I'm pretty sure our key will be a regular one. Can we flash our membership card? Thanks, as usual, for all of the help you all have given us!:D

Technially no, you will not be a DVC member as far as that visit is concerned. Now there are some things you will or might have access to. Things like free valet parking at BW, BC, WL are not dependent (at least not yet) on actually staying on property at all. As for some of the discounts, I suspect you would be able to get them but unlikely the 10% discount of UMP. I would not expect the free video rental, use of pool hopping or the like. Of course you would get many of the same benefits at the resort you are staying at simply by being a guest there.

Thanks Dean. I wanted to be sure about our "status" for this trip. In a nutshell then-- you're DVC when you stay on points, not DVC otherwise?

Thanks again! I appreciate the feedback.

You'll be able to use the restaurant & merchandise offers listed on the member site by showing your DVC Card.
