I've been reasearching and crunching numbers and now I am trying to figure out if it's going to be worth my while to get up at 5:30am tomorrow (to get ready to be on the phone by 6am) to change my ressie if free dining comes out tomorrow. So, I thought it would he helpful to find out what kind of deals you all are getting with the free dining package.

For comparison, we have 2 adults/2children and will be staying at Pop Dec 5-13, standard view. We booked the QSDP and just 8 days of basic tickets, no add ons. I had a 5/2 pin, so our total came to $2055. Also, we will receive a $100 gift card upon check-in. So, how is that compared to the free dining deal paying rack rates? Is it going to be worth the time and effort to do the switcheroo, or am I going to end up paying about the same thing?

Lastly, my sister is an AP holder and got the room only discount for pop for $54. She is staying Dec. 5-13 also. Do you think it would be worth it for her to book a ressie for free dining (it's just her and her dh) and pay for two unused 1 day tickets or just add dining to her AP package?

Thanks for your advice.

If you plunk your dates into the WDW site, and chose the 8 day base ticket, with no dining plan, standard room 2 adults, 2 kids (age 9), it comes to $1655.40. With the promotion, this should be the price you pay, and you'll receive the dining plan free. So even with losing the $100 gift card, you still come out ahead.

As for your sister, she'd come out about even. The package would come out to $903.34 which is approx. $112.92/night. If she were to keep her AP rate of $54 a night, and add on the dining plan which is $59.98 per night for the two of them, it would be $113.98/night so she would be at about the same rate, that's if the $54/night is including taxes.

Thanks, I have plugged my numbers into the Disney site, but I didn't know if the room rates happened to be higher for the FD dining promotion than disney is posting right now.

If the cost is what the disney site has right now minus the dining plan then yes, I will be on the phone in the morning.

I just booked a similar special with a pin code, and the rates were the same as on the website without the dining plan. Hope that helps!
