Time it takes to get Canadian Citizenship

Hello... I just applied for my Citizenship in May and I havent heard anything and I'm wondering if anyone has applied recently and how long the process took.

How long did it take till u were called for your test or how long after was your test?

After the test how long was it till your oath?

Please help I am trying to prepare for my wedding and set a wedding date but this is stressing me.

If you have applied recently please let me know how long it took.

I have checked that site but I've noticed that its not totally accurate so I wanted to know from anyone who has recently applied for it to see how long it took them...

I was just talking to a friend of mine about this last night, she applied the end of last year, just wrote her test last month and was just told she passed the test. She was told that they only do swearing in 4 times a year, she just missed the July 1st ceremony and was told that the nest one is in 4 months, so all in all, it looks like it is taking her about 1 year.

She was told that they only do swearing in 4 times a year, she just missed the July 1st ceremony and was told that the nest one is in 4 months, so all in all, it looks like it is taking her about 1 year.


After the test there in an interview with a judge and then the ceremony. There is a few months in between each stage.

When my DH got his it took almost 2 years from start to finish. I think it was 19 or 20 months. It moves very slowly because they have a ton of applicants. Even people that don't qualify will apply and that slows it down for everyone else while they get weeded out. I think the pace of the process is also affected by where you apply. DH had to go to Toronto.

I applied in Markham Ontario... which is close to Scar...

Anyone applied recently in 2009? beginning or anytime in 2009?
I seem to be getting such mixed info...
