Hidey Ho (Pre)Trip Report Neighbors!

Welcome to my planning musings. I have excitedly been planning my lil' Goof's 10th birthday bash but I wouldn't allow myself a pre planning thread until I finished up my last trip report (tough love).:lmao: If you are interested in reading any of my family's past WDW (and some DCL) adventures feel free to click the links below.

TRIP REPORT 3/2009 (Stitch's Great Escape a Mom and Me Birthday Trip with my 8 year old son at Coronado Springs)-
http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2131621

Now let me get down to the introductions for those of you who I haven't been lucky enough to 'meet' before. :welcome: My name is Jay and I'm a thirty something mom of four amazing little guys and the wife of one amazing big guy as well. And, if you haven't guessed it by now (me being here at the DIS and all), I am a huge fan of almost all things Disney. Here I am with my boys at the WL last September. Some of my favorite characters include more than a few troublemakers. Naughty but sweet Stitch, Donald Duck, Figment, Abu, Beast, Karl (from Up) and Sebastian. My favorite princess is definately Belle. She's smart, strong, kind, reads a lot and even has a little bit of sassy spunk. She is everything I want to grow up to be. ;)

One of me (note the DCL sweatshirt). ;)

And another snapshot of my little Buzz and I.
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n14/jaycns/goofy%20trip%202009/WIJan2008176.jpg

Here is another picture from our 9/08 trip. This one is of my four little guys and my big guy together. You see Aladdin, Goofy, Stitch and dh holding our little Buzz

One of just the boys.

And to show just how much they have changed in under a year, one from this past spring.
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n14/jaycns/goofy%20trip%202009/IMG_9574-24x36.jpg

Our youngest, Buzz Lightyear, is 18 months old and doted on by our entire family. He loves Buzz Lightyear (fittingly enough), Mickey Mouse, Woody, Lightning McQueen, Sully and Stitch. Here is a recent picture of him.
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n14/jaycns/goofy%20trip%202009/JuneJuly09001.jpg

Our second youngest is Stitch. He was lucky enough to have celebrated his 8th birthday at WDW this past March. I took him for a week long mom and me birthday trip. I cherish every moment of the one on one time we got to spend together. His favorite characters are Stitch, Chip, Buzz Lightyear, Donald Duck and Crush.
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n14/jaycns/goofy%20trip%202009/JuneJuly09004.jpg

Our oldest is Aladdin. He is just now 13 and I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that he is now a teenager! Where did the time go! Here he is with dh. He likes Aladdin, Will Turner, Capt. Jack Sparrow, Benjamin Gates (from Disney's National Treasure movies) and King Peter (from the Narnia movies).
http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n14/jaycns/goofy%20trip%202009/4thofjuly062.jpg

Speaking of dh, we will celebrate our 14th wedding anniversary shortly before Goofy's birthday bash trip. I could go on and on about what a wonderful husband I have, but suffice it to say, he (along with my boys) are the reason I smile when I wake up every morning. :lovestruc :cloud9: Dh acted hard pressed to come up with favorites when I asked him but he did manage to come up with a few (and I was even surprised at the thought he did put into it). He came up with Kuzco, Mike (from Monsters Inc) and Timon.

Now that I have introduced you to the rest of my family, I will save the star of my upcoming trip report for the next post. This thread after all will plan Goofy's Great Birthday Bash!

Meet Goofy Himself!

Even as a little baby, he was a Disney fan!

Between his 'babyhood' and now he has grown (so quickly) into a terrific little guy. Here is a quick look at how he got from there to here.

http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n14/jaycns/goofy%20trip%202009/4thofjuly088.jpg

Goofy is sweet, silly, smart and shy. His favorite characters include Goofy, Pluto, Dale, Lucky, Squirt and Nemo. I could go on and on about him (as I bet most moms could about their own little ones). Being able to take him to Walt Disney World and spend one on one time with him there is going to be one of the best treats (for me and hopefully for him too) ever! I am beyond excited. I have been planning a whole slew of surprises for him and I am about to burst. Being as most things about the trip are a surprise, I cannot talk to Goofy about the trip and I am afraid to discuss too much with his brothers either (little lips have loose locks). Although dh does want to know all about the trip plans, he is good with hearing it once.

You might ask, why take just one of your boys to Walt Disney World? That answer lies somewhere in between the fact that my husband (loving and wonderful in every other way but his Disney deficiency) doesn't feel a strong desire to return to Disney for extended periods of time year after year *GASP* while I feel the pull of the mouse most all of the time. The fact that I am a busy mom of four, so I very much appreciate the value of one on one time with each of the boys also weighs in heavily in the decision. This year, our big family vacation will be to Washington DC.

So, in order to get my Disney fix and to allow the boys special time with each of their parents (dh will be sure to spend a lot of fun father/son time with the boys still at home) we came up with the birthday trip system for this year. Each of the boys gets to pick a destination (within reason) and I (because I love to travel) will take them there while dh(because he would rather do his relaxing at home) enjoys time at home with the remaining boys. Throw in a DC bound family vacation with a few shorter family get aways so we still all get time away together and everyone is happy. :grouphug:

In the next post, I will outline some of the trip choices that have been considered, made and are in the process of being made.

As a mini cliff hanger (:rotfl:) I will list the list of final resort choices Goofy made for me to pick from (he wants the actual resort he ends up at to be a surprise, so he just gave me his top 5 choices).
1. Animal Kingdom Lodge
2. Wilderness Lodge
3. Boardwalk Inn
4. Polynesian
5. Coronado Springs

Where will we end up staying? I will post that choice and more details in my next update. :thumbsup2

Hi! I read all of your trip reports over the course of about a week and half while I was sick... You kept me entertained, and made me want to be one of your kids... Do you need a 28 year old daughter?? I am looking forward to hearing about this trip! We are going for 2 weeks in September, arriving the 15th...

I'm so excited you started this! I just can't get over how big the boys are getting.

I can't wait to hear what resort you end up picking. I know what your favorite resort is, but you might have a trick up your sleeve. I think I have it narrowed down between 2 resorts, but then again I could be totally wrong.

Do you need a 28 year old daughter?? I am looking forward to hearing about this trip! We are going for 2 weeks in September, arriving the 15th... Sure, a daughter would be a fun addition. ;) Wow, you did a LOT of reading. Thanks for reading all of that!! I know I talk a lot! ;) I hope you are back to 100%. Being sick is never any fun but it seems especially wrong in the summer.

I love longer vacations. Two weeks seems just about right to me. You really have the chance to do it all without having to pack it in. I love the relaxed pace. Where will you be staying?

Can't wait to see where you pick the resort! Hee hee hee, I will post that in my next update (within the hour).

Yay! I'm so glad you are doing a PTR!! Your reports are always full of fun and surprises, I can't wait to see what you've cooked up this time!! Thank you! I have a 'few' surprises swirling around in my head. It's like doing a really fun puzzle trying to figure out how to fit them in/make them work.

Hi Jay!

I'm definitely in once again. I love reading about your trips. Your joy in your life and your boys just comes pouring out of your words!! I can't wait to hear about the surprises you have planned this time. Thanks! I do love those guys of mine beyond all reason. And life is such a wonder to me. Each and every day, I cannot help but smile. So, if a little of that bleeds into my trip reports...I guess it's to be expected. ;) It's so much more fun to be happy than sad. :thumbsup2:laughing:

Hey Jay!

I'm so excited you started this! I just can't get over how big the boys are getting.

I can't wait to hear what resort you end up picking. I know what your favorite resort is, but you might have a trick up your sleeve. I think I have it narrowed down between 2 resorts, but then again I could be totally wrong. I KNOW, I KNOW...I wanted to pick my favorite. I also wanted to try something totally new. Then again, saving a little bit of money wouldn't hurt anything. Oh and revisiting one of Goofy's favorites might be fun...DECISIONS, DECISIONS! Ha ha.

Hey Jay,glad you are getting Goofy's TR started. You know I'll be on board. Still lovin your boys.

Ginny Hey there, Ginny! I am enjoying your trip report! Thanks for stopping by my new pre trip one. It's always good to 'see' you.

Hi, Jay!

Just popping in to let you know I'm here!

Can't wait for the details.

B Barb, I owe you a PM and I will send it soon. Could you PM me to let me know how things are going when you have any new news? I PROMISE to get around to responding VERY soon. I miss you!

Jay - I am so excited about this PTR! Buzz is getting sooooo big! I can't wait to hear more about your plans! He is getting so big. I look back at pictures from this time last year and I am stunned by how much he has grown/changed.

I'm in! Can't wait to hear about all the great surprises! I don't know if I would call them great...but I am hoping that Goofy will love them!

I'm here too Jay, I can't miss one of your fantastic TR's

BTW wow Buzz sure has grown he's a little boy now! SSSSHHHH. I refuse to let him grow up anymore. ;) Maybe I should have given him the name Peter Pan. Ha ha ha. It seems every time I blink all four of the boys are growing and changing and turning into little men. I am so proud of all they do and have become and I am so excited about watching them grow and become wonderful men BUT...a part of me (a selfish part) wants to freeze them and keep them how they are forever. :cloud9:

It's good to have you here, Jo. Not long until your next trip now either! Will you be writing another trip report? Are you doing a PTR for it?

Hi! I enjoyed your last TR and can't wait to read this new one! Thanks! It's good to have you here! And I can't wait to go to WDW so that I have something to write about! :rotfl: I am getting to the 'antsy' stage of waiting now.

Hey stranger! I can't believe how big the boys have grown! A teenager?! Wow! And just look at Buzz! So adorable! I already know you are going to have another wonderful vacation... but have fun planning!

We're off in a little more than a week to move our oldest down to WDW - she's going to be working there until January in the Disney College Program!

Take care,
Michelle MICHELLE! I owe you a HUGE debt of gratitude and must give you credit. Reading your trip reports and seeing the magic you weave into your trips for your family. The special meals, cakes, your time on the Grand One...all of your special moments that you have so graciously shared with everyone over the years have been an inspiration to me! I thought of you during our time on the Grand One last year! :)

Does she know where she will be working at WDW or what she will be doing? HOW EXCITING! Did she end up majoring in art or did she go the business route?

Hi Jay!

So glad to see another PTR from you, because that means a TR after!

I'm hoping you'll inspire me enough one of these days to start one of my own for our December trip! :goodvibes Hi!! You should so write one! I would love to hear about your daugther's firsts at WDW. HOW FUN THAT WILL BE!! Please do write one. I might not be able to inspire you...but I am not above begging. :flower3::lmao:

Thank you again, your words made my day! :wizard:

YEAH!!! ANOTHER report!!! I'm so excited!! when is this trip taking place???

Loved seeing te recent pics of the boys!! they are all growing so fast!!! We are going to celebrate his birthday in late September. Aren't they! It's a blessing and a curse (how quickly they grow). I wish I could hit pause or at least a slow button sometimes!

We are staying at Pop Century... We stayed there in 2004 and enjoyed it... We stayed at ASMo last year and liked that one too... We were going to stay at AKL this trip but we had to downgrade in order to help out a family member who needed it more than we needed to stay at a deluxe resort... Someday though...

Setting the Stage... Our Resort Choice!

We left off last time with Goofy giving me a list of his top five resort choices for this trip. I had, in fact, asked him to narrow his list down to a top three but he told me that he was unable to do so and had come up with a pretty much even list of five. His choices?

1.The Animal Kingdom Lodge our family's favorite WDW resort. We love the theme, the pool, the CM's (exceptional down to the last person), the vibe of the resort (very welcoming, earthy and friendly), the animals (of course!), the lodge itself, the activities, the food and the club level everything, the lounge. All are tops in our books. In fact, every person in our family rates AKL as either #1 or #2 on their 'favorite places to stay of all time'. For our family, it's a perfect fit! Goofy would really love to enjoy another stay at one of his favorite resorts.

2. The Wilderness Lodge the site of an amazing family vacation this past September and a resort that now ranks high on all three of our older boys lists. The pool activities, the geyser, the club level, the food offerings, the location, the details and the fireworks we could see from our balcony and the nightly lights on the water. Goofy would really like to enjoy another stay at the WL, it's one of his favorites.

3. The Boardwalk Inn is a resort that none of us have ever stayed at before. However, Goofy thinks that the pool looks awesome and the water slide looks intriguing. The Keister Coaster looks like a whole lot of fun (freaky looking clown not withstanding). Along with enjoying the watery fun he would like the chance to catch some of the acts along the boardwalk. Also, we have never stayed at any of the EPCOT area resorts, it would be fun to explore the new location. Goofy would enjoy a chance to try out a new resort that holds so much Goof-appeal.

4. The Polynesian was a resort that I think Goofy enjoyed more than anyone else in our family. He really got into the volcano pool, the tikis and he loved the torch light along the paths at night. The location is also one of our favorite at WDW. My family loves to be on the monorail line. Something about riding in a monorails makes us feel like we are really and truly on vacation. The food, the flowers, the fireworks and nightly light parade, the beach and the chance to try out the club level here for the first time are all good reasons to consider the Polynesian. Goofy would really enjoy a chance to soak up the WDW/island magic.

5. The Coronado Springs Resort is the final one on his top choices list. Goofy has never never stayed at the CSR before but his younger brother, Stitch, chose it as the place for his own birthday getaway this past March. After hearing Stitch go on and on about how much fun he had, Goofy placed the CSR on his own list. Goofy is also a fan of the spitting jaguar over the water slide. I guess it shouldn't surprise me that the spitting jaguar is a hit with boys of all ages. :rotfl: Although I am somewhat of a deluxe/club level girl myself, I too found the time spent at the CSR enjoyable and wouldn't mind a return visit. The theming there is outstanding, the CMs are friendly and helpful and the grounds were beautiful. Goofy would love to be spit on by a jaguar.

There you have it. His top five choices. What is a planner supposed to do? :confused3 So many choices. So many good reasons. It was time for this planner to make a choice. ;) It wasn't easy, I can tell you that. I went back and forth and back and forth and then over it again. I changed my mind at least twenty times before coming to a final decision. With that made, I picked up my phone and placed the phone call that would book us at...

THE BOARDWALK INN! The idea of giving him something to explore won out over returning to an old favorite. Goofy still doesn't know which resort I picked form his list. Until the moment we pull up to the front gate of the resort, he will remain clueless....and I LOVE THAT!

Another surprise will be the day we are actually leaving. Goofy knows that it will be within a month of his birthday...maybe not during his birthday month but within thirty days on either side. Basically, I bought myself a sixty day window in which to surprise him. :thumbsup2 I love this combination of surprise and being able to look forward to his trip at the same time. He can help with inputing ideas about what he would enjoy doing and he can look forward to what is to come and yet most everything about the trip still remains a surprise. It's sort of like Christmas morning. You know you will be getting gifts, you know what you have put on your wish list and you know that some things off of your wish list will most likely make it under your tree and you know there might even be something you have never even heard of before awaiting you in one of your packages but you just don't really know what you will find. :woohoo: It's a delicious mix of anticipation and surprise! :woohoo: To top it off, the surprise departure date is sort of like throwing a surprise party into the mix because you know you will be having a birthday and sometimes even strongly suspect you will be getting a party but you just don't know when. I am having so much fun swirling those things together into this one trip for my little Goof.

UP NEXT: Plans for day 1

I would love the Boardwalk if it weren't for the clown thing. Can't do it at all. But to be that close to Epcot would be great. He is gonna love it. How exciting for you and him. Love it that you are keeping the date a secret. The surprise factor is wonderful.

Yay - you started a PTR!!

I loved seeing all the recent pictures of the boys, they sure change alot in a short period of time don't they? I just can't get over how much Buzz looks like a little boy instead of an infant, he has definitely lost that baby look.

And your staying at the Boardwalk!!! That is my dream resort, I love the whole area. And being within walking distance to two parks is a big plus too. :thumbsup2 Someday the budget will allow it, but for now I'm excited to get to live vicariously through you!

Hi Jay! I was so happy to see your link!! You had a hard decision to make with the resorts but what a great choice!! I know you will like the Boardwalk Inn. If the clown gets to be too much there is a quiet pool there also, and it seems to me that there might be another one as well. We just did two of them.
I was sooo amazed to see Buzz standing! He looks so grown up! Very handsome boys. :goodvibes

It's good to have you here, Jo. Not long until your next trip now either! Will you be writing another trip report? Are you doing a PTR for it?Not sure, because most of my trip will involve all the panel I'd better see what they think. Plus I hardly have time to do everything at the moment without a TR to write :rotfl2: A few preTR bits though - Friday morning I'm having breakfast with some DIS friends, Friday pm going to MNSSHP plus going to private party at the Main Street Station. Jay! Oh my your boys are handsome. I can't believe how much the Little Prince, er, Buzz has grown!!! I'm so excited about a new trip report... these reports keep me busy while we anxiously await out our time until we head back to the states. First stop will be Disney of course! I know, it's crazy how much kids grow! And he will always be my Little Prince...I just figured he should get a 'real' Disney name too. HA HA HA. So...Buzz Lightyear it is.

I too use trip reports to keep me caught up with my Disney fix in between trips! ;)

I have never stayed at the Pop before. However, we did have a fun stay at ASMovies. Back when my little Stitch was a lot younger, he was a huge Buzz fan (still is actually) and we stayed at ASMovies for 10 days so that he could 'stay with Buzz and Woody'.

What a great thing you are doing (helping out family). That's a great example for us all! I hope you have an amazing trip!!

I would love the Boardwalk if it weren't for the clown thing. Can't do it at all. But to be that close to Epcot would be great. He is gonna love it. How exciting for you and him. Love it that you are keeping the date a secret. The surprise factor is wonderful. Ha ha ha, I have a thing with clowns. And I think it's justified, when I was a little girl, a clown threw up on me!! YES, I said threw up ON me! He was doing his 'bit' in the show and I was in the front row and all of a sudden BLECH and YUCK! I did get an elephant ride, a new t-shirt and a great big stuffed elephant out of the deal so it wasn't all bad. :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2:

Excellent choice, Jay. I would LOVE to stay there, too. Now I can get a first hand report through you & Goofy. ;)

Barb

p.s. I will PM you with "news" when I hear it. Hugs! I am hoping to have a wonderful stay there. I hope my little Goof loves his time there!

I just love how you surprise your kids! That is great. I can never be surprised, I always assume something is up :rotfl: That's another good thing about this type of surprise, you know it's coming...but you don't know where/when/how! ;) I just love to surprise people!

Ohhh!!! The Boardwalk is my dream resort, I'll get there someday. I can't wait to hear all about it!! The Boardwalk looks beautiful. I am excited that I will have a chance to really explore it! :)

yeah! i've never been there either! can't wait to hear the plans!! I have never even set foot in any of the EPCOT area resorts! I am looking forward to exploring the entire area! :thumbsup2

Another reader afraid of the clown.:upsidedow I can't imagine being able to keep everything so secret! Love all the resort choices, though, Goofy has good taste.:goodvibes If you read about my vomit clown incident above you can see that I really am not a huge fan of clowns. However, for my little Goofster, I will make myself a fan of the clown slide. :rotfl:

Oh boy~ a resort I've never been too and would love to try! I can't wait to hear all about your stay there. I think it was a great decision to choose the resort that your family hadn't been to before. Now he'll be able to explore a new place that is special just to the two of you! I hope he loves it. He likes the pictures and is excited to go down the Keister Coaster and see the acts on the Boardwalk. I am very excited myself to get to explore and make the Boardwalk mine and Goofy's 'place'. :cloud9:

I love your trip reports Jay! I've followed each and every one. I was so glad you started this one! I love the birthday trip idea. I would love to do that with my 4 boys, but I don't see that happening, so I will live through yours :) My husband is also not a huge fan of Disney and would prefer to go somewhere else, but I keep winning out!Wow, another mom of four boys! It's nice to have company! Ha ha.

Maybe you could save up and take each of them when they turn a certain age? My sister is thinking about doing that with her kids and taking them each on their 10th birthday (but starting their trip right before they turn 10 in order to get the child price one last time). ;)

You're awesome! That's all I have to say. Just an awesome mom. :thumbsup2 Looking forward to hearing more of your plans.

(thanks for the link over here, Ginny!) Ha ha ha, not awesome, just a normal mom who loves to surprise people . I honestly might get more joy out of the surprises than they do. I am so lucky to have a family who lets me plan things for them! :cloud9:

And I am saving a special mom and me trip for our Little Prince, Buzz, for when he is about 5. I figure he should be able to remember such a special sort of trip. Was the quiet pool nice? We actually liked the quiet pool at the Poly just as much (if not more) than the Volcano pool. It was so serene there and the pool itself was much warmer and less crowded. ;)

I guess I don't have anything REALLY against clowns per say...as long as they don't have an upset stomach.:lmao: When I was younger, a clown threw up on me. It is so bizarre about clowns. When I was small I had nightmares every night till I was about 15. I never mentioned to my girls that I didn't like them or anything about the dream. I didn't want to influence them in any way. Sheri told me about 5 years ago that she too dreamed about them till she was 15 or 16. Not any as an adult. We are two peas in a pod for sure. That poor girl.

I am anxiously awaiting what amazing plans you have made for Goofy cause I know they will be awesome.

Day 1 The Arrival!

I get really excited when I think of how our first day will unfold. Once again, it will begin with a surprise. Sometime shortly after breakfast (or so we have planned now) we will tell all of the boys that we need to get ready and go. Since we are always on the run, the boys pretty much know to get ready, get in the van and only then start to ask questions. ;)

I will let dh tell Goofy that he is going to Disney World when we pull into the airport. I let dh tell Stitch the morning we left last time as well. I figure if he misses out on being there for most of the fun, the least he deserves is to get to do the surprising parts while we are still here at home. We are hoping to get all the way to the airport and then BAM surprise...off we go! :)

After a few hours of air travel (and one layover) we will finally be in Orlando and I bet those hours will allow the excitement to grow in his little belly. :yay: By the time we finally touch down we will both be beyond ourselves with anticipation (who wouldn't be...WDW is waiting!). For those who didn't read Stitch's trip report, he was greeted at the airport by a chauffeur in full dress uniform holding a bouquet of balloons and a happy birthday sign. Due to the fact that his brother was surprised that way, Goofy has no clue that he might be surprised in the same way. In our family, we have taught the boys that just because one of us gets/does/has something it doesn't mean that each of us is entitled to it. The boys know that I would "never" plan the same surprise twice...which is exactly why I AM going to do that! ;) For Stitch, I booked a Rolls Royce (one of only two in all of central FL) Stretch Limo. And just to be different, I am doing the same thing again. :rotfl: I am going to use the same company again too. The company was Sir Randolph's Classic Transportation/Orlando Limos. Along with many different kinds of limos, they offer sedans, vans and other classic cars. You can find more information about them at http://www.sirrandolphsclassictransp....com/index.htm

I highly recommend using them if you are interested in taking a van, sedan or limo from the airport (or anywhere in the Orlando area). From the first phone contact to the driver they were very professional, courteous and provided great service! *Disclaimer: I am not an employee or owner or anything else of the company, I just loved the service they provided for us.*

Unlike his brother Stitch who ate up the attention it drew, Goofy would be a bit shy about getting balloons at the airport so we are going to forgo those and instead just have his name on a birthday themed sign.

In comparison to Stitch who waved, smiled and even posed for a picture (I have NO idea who those people thought we were...I am still :lmao: over people pointing at us like were were somebody) Goofy sort of hid his face and walked as quickly as possible while shielding himself behind the adults in our group when the Grand One dropped us off at Magic Kingdom last year. He really didn't like being looked at by so many people. He is just much more reserved than his brother (all of them actually), so I am going the more reserved surprise route with him. :flower3: I want him to enjoy his surprise limo trip not want to crawl into the suitcase because of it.

So there you have it, surprise #1: :woohoo: Rolls Royce Limo ride from MCO to the Boardwalk! :woohoo: I know he will love this one and I am so excited to see his little face light up!

Upon our arrival at the BWI, Goofy will finally see where he is staying! I hope he looks ecstatic when he sees the final pick I made for his birthday trip. :cool1:

Our first day we are going to do a little bit of exploring and get our bearings at the BWI. Dinner that night? Well, I am VERY excited about that myself. I was able to get us reservations at Kouzzina! I am a food geek, I love watching Food Network and one of my favorite shows there is the Iron Chef shows. Cat Cora was always one of my favorite chefs on the show and now to go and be able to eat in HER restaurant has me really excited. :woohoo: What an opportunity! I am drooling over the thought of her recipes ending up on my plate! The food has been described as traditional Greek classic cuisine. Lots of fresh everything, feta cheese, olive oil, olives, herbs, tomatoes, etc OH YUM! I cannot wait to try it out and to be one of the first ever will make it even more special! :thumbsup2 It really works out in my advantage that Goofy is a little foodie himself! I have no guilt in 'dragging' him there with me cause I know he will enjoy himself just as much as I will!

After dinner we will take a stroll along the boardwalk and then head up to the lounge for a last sweet late night nibble on some of the tidbits they have set out.

I am really excited about day 1! To me, it sounds like such a fun way to start a vacation! :thumbsup2

I think it is wonderful that your husband doesn't have a problem with these surprise trips. I mentioned taking my Mitchell on a solo trip (just the two of us) and DH looked at me like I had grown three heads. He didn't mind letting us go with my parents, but a trip just the two of us was more than he could handle. he's quite protective! Oh well!

Also, I just wanted to ask, are you guys DVC members?

I remember you mentioning a few times during your trip with Stitch that you guys took a cab to/from the parks. Can I ask you about what that ran? I'm seriously considering renting a car for our December trip just because it's going to be so crazy busy that waiting on buses might just put me over the edge  But, being a holiday week there are NO decent rates on car rentals - in fact all of the prices that I've seen are ridiculously high, so DH doesn't want to do it. The quiet pool at BW... we were in the BWV, the quiet pool was in the next enclave from the clown pool. It was very peaceful and quiet, no one was really using it so we felt like it was our own private pool. I really think there is another quiet pool closer to the BWI... something to check out.

It's comforting to know I am not the only one who is a bit afraid of clowns! I don't thing reading the book "It" helped this fear at all!

Great day 1 plan! Goofy will love all of the surprises you have planned for him. And if your past TRs are any indication, we have just seen the tip of the surprise iceberg!

You really have me thinking now about surprises I can do for my niece. We are going down to Disney in early December. We were there in March and realized we didnt want to wait a whole year to go back and really wanted to see everything decorated for Christmas.....

She will be 4 when we go...so if you have any ideas! We are staying at the Poly this time, due to the ease of the monorails and boats. Stayed at the POP last time. Have to agree with you on the bus thing!

What a perfect first day!! It is exactly the kind of day that your Goof will enjoy. One of my favorite things about reading your reports is how obvious it is that you know your kids well and celebrate them all for their uniqueness. (is that a word? well it is now.) I do love celebrating each of the boys for who they are. It's so much fun to get to explore just what makes each one tick and to have four boys who are so alike in some ways and so different in others. They are each so amazing in their own ways. I am so lucky to have each of them.

My dh does worry and share plenty of (over)protective 'make sure you are careful' discussions wiht me but in the end, it all works out. Maybe once your son is older, maybe you and your dh would feel more comfortable with those sorts of trips.

My dh is much happier this time thinking of us behind a locked club area door. He cracks me up. I think his worry is sort of endearing (however misplaced it may be). I figure me going to the grocery store, museum, park or just about anywhere else is no less and probably more dangerous than going to anywhere on WDW property and I routinely do those things with the kids and he doesn't bat an eye.

And no, we are not DVC members, it just hasn't clicked for our family yet. Maybe one day.

I TOTALLY agree! :thumbsup2Getting to explore with them and see WDW through their eyes is amazing. With Stitch I saw WDW as an explosion of snacks and thrill rides and non stop movement. A place to hit at 110% until you collapse and then recharge your batteries to hit it as hard as possible again. Our pace was fast and furious as were our rides. I think it will be so much fun seeing WDW through Goofy's eyes as well. I am predicting a slower pace, more food, less on the thrill rides, more shows and characters. I cannot wait to see what it does become! :thumbsup2

If it's not too expensive to take a cab I might feel better about not having a car!I know it was somewhere between $10-$15 each trip with tip included. I am thinking closer to $10 but I am not 100% sure. It was really worth it for us in the mornings. However, we didn't use the cabs to get back because we left at off times so we just hopped on the bus and it was no big deal. If we would have had to fight the crowds at closing, I would have just taken a cab instead. My only 'tip' for taking a cab might be to leave a few minutes early on days you are going to MK. You have to be dropped off at the TTC and then either monorail or boat AFTER you take a tram from the drop off point. Not very 'happy' when you at last walk right past the bus stop so close to the park gates. Instead of asking to go to the MK, I will plan an early breakfast at a monorail resort and then take the monorail afterward to MK. I can knock out our character breakfast and get us a better drop off point all at the same time. ;)

I can't wait to hear about Cat Cora's restaurant! I am very excited to eat there! I will take a lot of pictures and make lots of notes about it and report back! :) :thumbsup2

What an awesome first day for Goofy. He will so love it. Then Stitch and he can compare whose day was better. I would be anxious to try Cat Cora's place too. That is so good your boys will try most foods. Mine all would. It sure helps as they need to experience new things. Beats being raised on green beans and corn.Ha ha. Goofy is my most daring eater but they are all pretty well rounded. The very funny thing is I cannot get ANY of them to eat green beans (unless they are deep fried like at Yak and Yeti). :lmao: And I love green beans so it's a bummer for me. ;)

Love it! :thumbsup2:goodvibes Thanks!

The quiet pool at BW... we were in the BWV, the quiet pool was in the next enclave from the clown pool. It was very peaceful and quiet, no one was really using it so we felt like it was our own private pool. I really think there is another quiet pool closer to the BWI... something to check out.
So good to Heidi on here!!! Hi to you Heidi!!! :wave2: I LOVE Greek food. My dad was Greek. I grew up eating a lot of 'real' Greek food made by family who had grown up in Greece. I also lived in an area with a lot of other Greek families so there were many places to find good Greek food served throughout the area. However, I currently live in an area with NO Greek food at all. I am really looking forward to dining on some at WDW!

Thanks for the pool info. I will make sure to check it out! I like swimming in the main pools at resorts sometimes but other times I am in the mood for a quieter more reserved dip and that is where those quiet pools will come in! :)

YAY! I've never made it to one of you PTR's, I've only waited with baited breath to read the actual TRs...this is so cool! I'm going to IN on some of the surprises!

I can't get over how BIG the Little Prince (sorry...Buzz...) is! Your family is just beautiful - I can't wait to hear all about Goofy's Birthday!

Best,

Mrs. Spratt Thanks Mrs. Spratt! :) Yes, I am going to let you all in on LOTS of surprises. I am so excited, this trip's theme could be pegged as the trip of surprises. :):) I am so excited for that!

Does your niece know that you are heading back down to WDW? Would you have room in your bags to bring a small treat for each day? I have heard about "Tinkerbell treats" that get left under their pillow or next to their bed every day. Little things like chapsticks, stickers, earrings, tiara, tinystuffed animals, t-shirts to wear on the trip, glow sticks/necklaces, small Disney figures, crayons and a coloring book. Lots of it could even be picked up on clearence from the Disney Store or from the Dollar Store and hidden away until the time to deliver it. Print out some sweet little tags/invitations to attach to them each day and you are set. The invitation to a day at the Magic Kingdom might be from Cinderella and have a tiara with it for her to wear during the day. Maybe Simba invites her to AK and gives her some stickers or little plastic binoculars to wear around her neck and look at the animals on the safari with. For DHS maybe you could get her a Disney t-shirt and leave it with a note from Mickey that he hopes she can explore his studio. At EPCOT, she could get a some quarters and pennies to use at the pressed penny machines. SO many ideas. Pick her favorite characters and go crazy. A little bit of money and imagination could turn this idea into the highlight of a trip. That and a little sneaky sneaky on your part. ;) I am going to do this with my little Buzz when he gets a little bit older.:thumbsup2

Day 2...SURPRISE MY GOOF!

The day will be a slow one. Instead of hopping in to park time right away, I wanted to give him a day of play. This doesn't mean we might not head over for a morning at EPCOT if he is so inclined but if he doesn't ask for it, we won't be doing any park time this day. Instead, it will be all about the pool, enjoying the club level lounge (and food offerings) and exploring the entire EPCOT resort area. Oh and did I mention that I have a big surprise up my sleeve? ;)

We will start our day with some exploration of the other EPCOT area resorts. Part on foot, maybe part on bike. :) Being as we have never been to any of the EPCOT area resorts, it will be fun to get a peek at what they have to offer. Along the way, we will stop for lunch at the Captain's Grill. I think Goofy will really enjoy this meal. The menu looks like it will make for a tasty lunch. And having our meal there will give us a destination for our morning of rambling. We are both eager to see the Yacht Club in person.

We are going to follow up a (hopefully) good lunch with an afternoon of relaxation. Pool time sounds just about right! I will let him splish, splash and slide until he is waterlogged and starts to grow gills. We may even drink a few frosty toasts to those we leave back at home. :drinking1

After our watery fun it will be time to get ready for our evening of fun.

First up? Dinner at the Flying Fish. This is a place that Goofy has repeatedly suggested on family trips but that gets overlooked due to it's lack of appeal to the other guys in the family. But this time, it's all about Goofy and what he wants, so we will be dining at the Flying Fish. **This might be a good time to note that we are going to be doing the deluxe dining plan once again. For us, it's a great deal. We enjoy dining at signature restaurants, having room service and like to relax at sit down meals. Three meals a day (either CS or TS, your choice), two snacks a day and a refillable mug makes for WAY too much food to eat if you aren't interested in doing a lot of 2 credit meals. Even with our many 2 credit meals we will still have more than enough credits to last our entire vacation (and then some). However, when you get deluxe dining through the small up charge it has during free dining, it is WAY more than worth it for us.:thumbsup2**

Are you wondering just where the surprise came in? Well, it is now time for me to SURPRISE MY GOOF! Instead of just enjoying the boardwalk entertainment (which is what he will think we are going to be doing), we will be walking to the Yacht Club's marina and hopping aboard a very special boat. We are going to be enjoying a jaunt on the BREATHLESS!! I am super-de-dooper excited about seeing Goofy's reaction to this one! This past May some close friends of ours took a Breathless Illuminations cruise and they went on and on about how much they loved it. Ever since then, Goofy has mentioned a ride of our own as being a good idea. I whole heartedly agree with him but because I must surprise (ha ha ha, it's a compulsion on my part now) I have led him to believe it'd be the last thing on earth I would want to do. :lmao: He will be shocked when we board! And hopefully won't stop smiling the entire rest of the evening. I look forward to speeding around the water before coming to rest with a front row seat to Illuminations. :cloud9::love: This just might be my little Goof's favorite night of our entire trip! :cloud9::love: I cannot wait to see his smile light up my evening!

Day 2 sounds fantastic!! And what a sneaky little thing you are, pretending to have zero interest in a cruise on the Breathless. I'm not sure if you'll be able to top this day, but I'm looking forward to hearing what else you have up your sleeve!

Day 2 sounds lovely! First off - Captain's Grille - I have heard this mentioned alot recently, it does look yummy. And we have something in common - I have a surprise Illuminations cruise planned too! :woohoo:Except it's not on the Breathless, just one of the pontoon boats (At least I think so, I never really asked which boat we booked). I'm thinking of calling private dining for some special desserts, have you thought of doing that? Or maybe you are holding out on some surprises for the trip report? :upsidedow I'm sure you and Goofy will enjoy it! I remember reading how much you all enjoyed the cruise on the Grand One last year, and when you add fireworks, how can you go wrong?!!

Ok Jay. Day 2 beats Day 1. I see you are just going to outdo yourself each and every day. Goof will love the Breathless. Not only will he feel so special (because he is) he will be doing it with you. I love the way your boys look at you when you take their pictures. Their love just beams from their eyes. As your when you are looking at them. Congratulations on another fine day at the World.

Day 1 The Arrival!

I am sooooo jealous! I can't WAIT to read all about this meal and see the food porn!!

The past few days I read your CR/Poly TR, your AKL / GF TR, Re-Read your WL TR and the Stitch TR...and realized I am addicted your TR's so I thought I'd hop over and read about Goofy's birthday trip! I feel excited like its my own trip! I have to tell you my honeymoon was suppose to be just visiting the world but you inspired going on a cruise and some downtime days if DF gets mad can i blame you? :rolleyes1 But I love your TRs and I am interested to read this pre TR and your actual TR to see your perspective of an Epcot resort.

Out of curiousity has your family ever considered the Beach Club or Yacht club? I could just see your boys enjoying Storm a Long bay is all :) And I agree with your CR seems like such a magical hotel.. to me its the most disney even though the decor isn't overly disney..I guess its just one of those landmarks :)

Hi Jay,

Just wanted to pop in and say how much fun I am having reading your report. I also started Stitch's TR last night (so very sorry about your dad).

It is so much fun to read about all of your surprises. I would love to take a special trip with each of my boys someday (they are just 7 and 4 so I little young yet), but my DH loves to go too, so we may just have to plan to "split up" and have single kid time on our next trip (and by next I mean the one after the one coming up since we'll be bringing DS's friend on this next one).

Thanks for sharing all of your plans with us. If they are half as fun for you as they are for us to read, Goofy is going to have the birthday of a lifetime!

On the Breathless we are not allowed anything besides chocolate covered strawberries/champange. I figure we will be full from dinner so I am skipping the strawberries. There is a lot less room on the Breathless so they have rules about what can/cannot be brought aboard food wise.

I am hoping for a wonderful night. I am also looking forward to the front and center Illuminations viewing! :woohoo:

I think your family of four is perfect for some one on one time. Throw in two "mom/dad and me days" on your next (after the friend vacation) trip and you would each get a full day alone with each son and still get the fun of a family trip too! You could take one son one day while dh has the other and then the next time swap. What fun that would be! What a neat thing to be able to do!

Thank you so much for your ideas on how to surprise my niece. We haven't told her we are going yet...Her birthday is in October and I am trying to hold off and surprise her then (good luck with that!!) I don't know how you keep your trips such a surprise! The minute I do some planning, I have to tell all involved in the trip! I have seen threads here on the DIS where people have templates for printing out dinner invitations from various characters or just themed to where you would be eating. The ones I saw were posted with permission for you to tweak them and use them. I wish I had the link to that. That would be great for her too I bet!

i applaud your parenting as well. it seems like you have some really nice boys who really appreciate all you do for them. i have a 6 week old son right now and i hope to raise him to be a sweet boy :)There is SO much to do at Disney by way of surprises that is low cost to no cost. They have adorable little Mickey Head single serving cakes at the Boardwalk Bakery that are on the DDP as snack credits (I think that's still true) and are priced at $3.99 each. SO cute but would make a great surprise to hide and then leave out in your room as a surprise. You could wait and have your son's first haircut at the Magic Kingdom barber shop. It's under $20 (I think $14?) and your son would get free Mickey ears that say "My First Haircut" and a certificate and you would get an envelope with a lock of his hair. Also there appears to be loads of pixie dust (glitter) and stickers usually involved. ;) Another idea is to get a CS meal at one of the monorail resorts and then take it out to the beach area as a picnic and watch the fireworks go off as you munch (or enjoy a beautiful afternoon doing the same thing). Dinner and/or park invitations can be found here on the DIS and printed out at home and used to surprise people with the day's plans. A $20 bill and the ability to spend it on anything they want can make a child's day! Stroll along the Boardwalk and take in the free night time entertainment. Make a scavenger hunt of your own for whatever resort you are staying at and have a sack of goodies you have snuck from home waiting as the big prize back in your room. Eat dinner at Chef Mickey's and then take a monorail ride/watch the fireworks from the Contempoary's observation deck. Set out little surprises each morning (coloring books/crayons, stickers, a new t-shirt to wear that day, dollar store trinkets, pennies/quarters for pressed pennies in the parks, a plastic sword/tiara/pirate patch...whatever someone would love) and sprinkle a little sparkly confetti around and tell them that Tinkerbell or Peter Pan or whatever other character they love paid them a night time visit. There are SO MANY things you can do to make a trip special...your budget never has to limit that! :)

And thank you, but I don't think it's our parenting as much as we were blessed with great kids. :cloud9:

My son is going to wish that he belonged to you! Again, what a great mom you are. Hi Jay
Just went through all your trip reports. Thanks for writing them!! I have got so many new ideas for upcoming trips from you! I have a question about Buzz's stroller .lol I have the same one and we are leaving next thursday. How did it do in WDW any complaints? Thanks! If you are used to it (the hooking the straps so it doesn't unfold) you will be great! It was a GREAT park stroller. The UV shade came in so handy as did the rain shield (we were there in September and had our fair share of both). We have cup holders installed on ours and I wouldn't have enjoyed it without those. The stroller really was great because of it's quick fold, smallish frame once folded (at least for a full feature stroller) and offered so much to keep him comfy and out of the sun with the sunshade/wicking pad on the seat.

The only things mildly annoying was the straps to hook it, we weren't used to hooking it cause we had only rolled him around in our neighborhood so we hadn't used the strap yet (we bought it shortly before our trip) so I felt a bit fumble fingered trying to do that quickly to get on a tram or something. And I found that we did better when we popped the front wheel off and held it rather than try to squish on the tram with it still attached.

If you are already used to doing it or just practice a few times before it's late at night and you are tired, balancing a tired little one and a day full of park stuff while you try to figure it out...you could eliminate that. ;) I should have just figured it out before the trip instead of in the middle of it. :lmao: I guess you live and learn. So, YES, it was great, just make sure you are familiar with the folding lock straps, how to attach the rain cover/uv cover and you will be great!:thumbsup2

Day 3...It's All About the FUN!

I am guessing we will start our morning off with a pre park opening breakfast in the club lounge. After fortifying ourselves, we will head out to Goofy's favorite park. And, I am planning to use a cab to get us there! :lmao:

We will be heading to the Magic Kingdom and hoping to be there just a bit before rope drop. This day will be all about following Goofy's whims and fancies. If he is up for riding Splash Mountain all day, we will do that. If he would rather explore the stores, ride all of Fantasyland and then snack our way throughout the park, we will do that. Whatever floats his boat is what will be on my agenda for the day. I am excited to see just what his perfect park day looks like. :wizard:

In keeping with my 'just go with his flow' theme of the day, I haven't made a single dining reservation. Goofy is a fan of a few CS places at MK and I will let him lead me to whichever one he might happen to want. I didn't want this day to be about keeping to a schedule. I don't even want to have to look at my watch. All of that said, lunch will be eaten in a burst of multiple snacks or a CS meal whenever Goofy directs us.

Mrs. Spratt's comment about a scavenger hunt was something that was already flying around in my surprise loving little mind...but the suggestion to make it a photo scavenger hunt tugged at my crazy surprise loving self and has formed into a loose plan. Thanks MRS. SPRATT for the wonderful suggestion! I am going to work that into our evening. Thanks to a wonderful DISer on the BWI thread I even have a few ideas to work with. If any of you know of any hidden Mickey's or landmarks at the BWI I would very much appreciate you posting them or PMing them to me! :)

I plan on setting up a ten to twelve item hunt for him and going out and having a great time letting him capture the items on the list with his own little budding artist/photographer's eye. Another chance for me to glimpse the world the way he sees it! :) I am going to have the last item to check off on his be to get a picture of a club level CM. I will have previously passed them a birthday card to give him (with some Disney dollars in it) when he comes to them to complete his hunt. We will then head back to our room and there he will find a Boardwalk themed birthday surprise waiting for him...

After talking with an amazing chef at the Boardwalk Bakery and giving them the most general input (I told them something that was "totally Boardwalk Inn themed that a ten year old boy who loves midway games, rides and carnival animals would love"). The chef I spoke with told me she would get back to me after she had a chance to work up a few ideas. Her first suggestion was perfect. A cake carousel! Goofy loves the merry-go-round! It's perfect for him! And instead of horses, the carousel will have elephants, lions and monkeys on it. :thumbsup2 I cannot wait for him to see it. She didn't even have to tell me any of her other ideas, I heard that one and knew it was a great fit for him.

You may have noticed that I still haven't mentioned dinner. I am planning on us relaxing in our room after our park day and scavenger hunt early evening. We will crack open the menus and test out the room service this evening. :thumbsup2

Hi Jay--

Day 3 sounds like another great one. I am sure Goofy is going to sooo appreciate what you have planned (or not planned) for him. I am sure the two of you will have an awesome time in MK. How can you not?!? And the scavenger hunt is a really cool idea I will definitely use once my niece gets a bit older. But definitely going to use your idea about a present from different characters under her pillow!

I too am a big fan of the cakes you pick out and fun cakes in general (think Food Network Challenge and Collette Peters)....I was even trying to think of a way to get a cool one for our pre-Christmas trip over at the Poly. I know for GR you have to be a guest or eat there, have to investigate what they will do there....My niece loves the taste of cake and I love the look of fun cakes (ok, the taste too)!!

Day 4...Another Day of Fun!

Our park of the day will be EPCOT. We have a lunch at Chefs de France and a dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse. We might keep those...we might not. ;) As much as I know he enjoys a good meal, if he seems to be enjoying something else more, I will call and cancel our reservations and allow the fun to continue. Once again, I want this day to be all about following his lead.

Our evening will be spent watching Illuminations (or the high parts of it at least) from the BWI and relaxing in the lounge.

Not a surprise to be found...but that's just how I want it...I want to lull him into thinking all of the surprises are all behind him. :lmao:

I'm really thinking I'm going over to the Boardwalk Bakery and getting some cakes for my kiddos. It will be a small surprise, but a surprise non-the-less. We'll be at ESPN club for lunch on day 2, so that's probably a good time to get them.

Of course, my biggest surprise is that we're going at all...and bringing DS's friend on top of that. Despite the fact that I'm on the DIS all the time, I'm in the middle of reading the UG, I've made them backpacks and am in the middle of making them travel journals, and there are two large boxes of Disney-type stuff in the middle of my computer room they still don't seem to have a CLUE. Matt and I have decided we're telling them that we're going to the beach when we leave that morning, so they hopefully won't get it until we drive through the gates. :rotfl: I hope that's the way it goes down at least!

Ginny Ha ha ha. I wish I could cram a few more hours into each day already so I totally understand what you mean about taking on a big project...especially when you are so close to being able to retire! :woohoo: Having a travel agency (or working for a good one) also appeals to me. I just love the whole travel planning experience (although, Disney travel is still my first love).

What will you do with all of your time when you retire?

Jay, you are the tricky one. Restaraunt choices sound yummy. And you knowing it is all about Goofy and his wants. What a Mom. It will be a good day. I'm anxious to see how this plays out. Just barely a month away.

Ginny Hee hee hee. I REALLY want him to think the surprises have stopped. ;) It will only make what will come all the more special! :cloud9:

I have my whole life to make a trip all about me. I only have such a short time with my little guys as 'little' guys to make trips all about them. It's a no brainer. And I think I might be getting more joy out of it than anyone. I adore the peek into my boys' minds and seeing the WDW through their eyes is a priceless treat! :wizard: A LITTLE MORE THAN A MONTH! I am so excited! I wish I could share my countdown with the boys but loose lips sink surprise birthday trips. :rolleyes1 I am forcing myself to be quiet. It is a form of torture! :rotfl:

Matt and I have decided we're telling them that we're going to the beach when we leave that morning, so they hopefully won't get it until we drive through the gates. :rotfl: I hope that's the way it goes down at least! It doesn't have to be a small surprise. Make it 'big'. Grab the little Mickey head cakes (are those the ones you were meaning?) add a small stuffed animal (the under $10 ones), a small figure, a toy car, a lollipop or some other little trinket (hey it's Disney, trinkets your boys want will be EVERYWHERE:laughing:) to each cake.

Before you go, decorate a paper lunch bag with stickers/print out images and glue them on. Theme each bag to the boys' favorite character or just Disney in general and then insert a little bit of confetti or glitter into each bag. Maybe even pre buy a few glow sticks or other small treat to put in.

Stuff the treats in the bags and put the bags out on a table behind the little cakes. Your dh could have the boys in the pool or playing on the playground or in the arcade or maybe just walking slowly to the room while you run ahead to get it done). Sprinkle a small bit of the confetti or glitter on the table around the bags/cakes. Then make a break for it and rejoin your family and pretend you hadn't been to the room.

When the boys enter the room...how excited would they be to see that!! Personal cakes and a surprise package from Mickey (or whatever character you want each one to be from)!!

OH or maybe since you have made them backpacks...use those instead! :) Or skip the lunch bag all together and just make a little tag like "To DS7 Love, Mickey" and stick it next to the cake and whatever small treat you have secreted for them. :) No matter how it turns out...it would be anything but 'small'. I bet your boys would flip!! :):)

It's great that they still don't have a clue! And I think that's a 'boy' thing to not notice even with all of your piles of stuff. I have piles of stuff in my bedroom and Goofy (although he knows he is going, he doesn't know when) has not connected the fact that I have started to gather stuff with the fact that his trip is coming up soon. :lmao:

Just imagine the looks on their faces when you do drive under that sign! And even if they do figure it out when you start to get close (from the many Disney signs) the look of sheer joy/surprise/excitement will be just as precious then too! What fun you will all have! Make sure you have your camera or camcorder ready! It would be awesome if you were able to capture their reactions! :thumbsup2

I will find more ways to do more family things and make lots more surprises for us all of course.

This trip for dear Goofy is going to be wonderful and then Aladin and Buzz will be so excited for their turn. Then that Dear, sweet, wonderfull hubby and you will need a turn for yourselves. Won't that be fun to plan?

That is why you are such a wonderful loved mom. Not only in their eyes but ours.Dh and I actually got to sneak away for a week together last year. We went to St. Martin and it was wonderful. We stayed in a beach front resort and enjoyed breakfast on our balcony watching the waves break. It was totally relaxing and I was spoiled rotten with spa time, gourmet food, sleeping in, snorkeling, sailing and shopping. It was the ultimate relaxing couple vacation. The only thing that I didn't like about it was just how much I really did miss my boys. :lmao: When we were nearing the end of our time there, I told dh that I would rather just fly the boys to me there than have to leave though. I was loving being on island time! ;) :lmao:

I have to tell you Jay, I have 2 heroes in my life. One is my wonderful husbands sister Donna and the other is you. You have brought such joy to your family that it has shown me how to bring joy to mine. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Ginny
 That was such a sweet thing to say, Ginny! :flower3: I promise I am just a normal wife/mom/gal. I am just blessed with great boys and I so lucky to have the privillage of loving and raising them. Along with dh (who is still the man of all of my dreams after almost 14 years) the boys are the reason why I smile. That's not inspirational, I am selfish. ;) When they smile, I smile. Plain and simple. I love loving them and don't want to waste a moment of the time I have with them. But, me, I am just an average everything. Anybody could and lots of people do feel/plan/say/do the same things I do. Thank you, Ginny. That was such a sweet thing to say. :flower3:

Jay, you always have something up your sleeve - even when its nothing! Such a trickster. You really make me want to do one-on-one trips with my kids - so much so that I even went and priced one out for my oldest's 13th birthday. It was crazy expensive (February birthday - school vacation week too :scared1:), but you never know with all the deals and codes around. It would be so lovely to just do whatever she wanted, while she still wants to do it with me. Well, anyway, you are really inspiring me!:goodvibes Aladdin's birthday feel during the busiest time of the year, so I talked with him and we are postponing his 13th birthday bash until later this year so that we can celebrate during the slow season. ;) The difference in price is significant and then there is the difference in crowds/lines/waits. I just talked to him about how we could go on his birthday but it would cost more money then so it would need to be a shorter trip and we would be in the middle of a very crowded time and waiting in a lot of lines. I then gave him an idea of what times 'off season' worked out to be and let him pick from there.

These one-on-one trips are the treat of a lifetime for me! I hope the boys are enjoying them as well. :rotfl: It's a rare treat (the extended time alone with each of them). I am so thankful to be able to take these trips!

Just catching up Jay and your plans are amazing or as you guys say awesome :thumbsup2 I know there is a long list but can you adopt me too please :rotfl:

As others have said your planning skills are fantastic I hope you'll be applying for the Moms Panel this year :goodvibes Sure, one DisneyJo in the family! :) I need some girl time! :) What we need to do is plan a Disney meet! :thumbsup2

I missed when to apply for the Moms Panel the first year. I applied at the last minute (the very last day) this past year. I doubt I will fit the demographic they are looking for any time soon. They already had another homeschooling mom of four from my state in the first year's group. That won't stop me from applying! ;) Being on the Disney Mom's panel really would be an absolute dream. I was so happy for you that you made it and being able to read about your special training trip made me smile from ear to ear. I bet you will always look back fondly on this past year. What a GREAT treat!

I was even so excited to just be in the Disney Mom's Club BUT...somehow I get all of the emails and excitedly try each time to log on to the site but it never lets me log in. Ever. Not one single time. Maybe Mickey is not very fond of me after all. I do however love my Mickey Mom's Club fridge magnet. I guess it doesn't take much to make me happy! ;)

The Mom's Panel is my idea of the world's coolest gig! CONGRATS AGAIN, Jo! Enjoy the rest of your time helping others plan great Disney vacations! :wizard:

That was a great vacay for you. I love St Martin. The Dutch side. I've never stayed on the French side.

I don't think Don and I ever took a lengthy vacay from the girls till they were both in high school. We often say we should have done it sooner but I couldn't stand to be away from them for more than a couple of days at a time. Of course now we do it a lot but I still have to have at least one family vacay a year with everyone together.

That truly was from my heart. And I know what you mean. Don and I have been married for 42 years in Dec and I am thankful everyday. I was 15 and he 16 when we started dating. I have never wanted anyone but him.

I know there are lots of mom's out there that love their children as much as you and I do. It is just the way you express it that makes it so beautiful.

I have to tell you how much I'm enjoying reading your old trip reports. I'm in the middle of planning a trip for DD's 8th birthday, and reading about "Stitch's Great Escape" has given me some ideas!

I love that you're trying to make him think all of the surprises are behind him. You are just too much fun! He's going to be in heaven.

Hey, Heather! I can't believe the oldest one hasn't figured it out yet, what with all the Disney stuff around! You're going to get them good! :thumbsup2

Hey! Sounds like Goofy is going to have a fun time. If you are looking for a list of hidden mickey photos try Steve Barret's site hiddenmickeysguide.com Thank you so much! I am going to head over and check it out! :thumbsup2

Goofy better be watching you closely. Making him think all surprises are over!! You are tricky! :rotfl: Being tricky is fun! I don't want to have him wake up with expectations for something special to happen. It's always so much more fun if something happens when you least expect it! :cool2:

Hi Jay!!!
I just got on to this. All I can say is "WOW!" Goofy is going to be so thrilled with everything you are doing. I especially love the carousel cake and the Illuminations cruise!!!

Like everyone else, I am getting some great ideas from you. Don't be surprised if I ask for some tips from you when I plan my 15th anniversary visit to WDW. It's a few years out yet. I'm taking notes now though. I could talk about ideas, planning, ways to have fun at WDW for days on end and not grow tired of it. I LOVE talking about what people have planned. SO...make sure you do share away with me when you get down to the serious planning. Disney is such a wonderful place to celebrate!

I really hope that some of the ideas I have dug up help someone else to plan something fun as well. The possibilities at WDW are just about as unlimited as they come...it'd be a shame if people missed out on things just because they didn't know about them.

:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

YOU ROCK THESE BIRTHDAY BASHES!!!

:yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay::yay:

Everything sounds so exciting and fun. I just wanna hire a private detective to follow you two around and videotape it all so we could see Goofy's adorable reactions!!! Hahahaahha....Disney should just film it and sell it to all of us. Hahahahahaha Why don't you just join us and film it and I will post it. ;) You don't even have to sneak around, you can just join right in with the fun. I will save a special slice of cake just for you! :thumbsup2

Ginny We stayed on the Dutch side too. We did spend a day over on the French side exploring, a night out on the French side and a morning of shopping/catamaran time over on the French side. The entire thing was so much fun.

I don't think we would have taken the time away together if not for an award that dh won that came with the trip. He was honored as one of the top employees in North or South America and the trip (and all that came with it) was a perk that was too hard to turn down. How often to you have an all expenses paid trip to a luxery resort? :lmao: Even though I hated leaving the boys, I was not crazy enough to turn it down.:rotfl: It really was an amazing time for us. When we were first married, we had nothing. We didn't even have two extra pennies to rub together so we were unable to go on a honeymoon. By the time our 'pennies' had stacked up, we had kids and all of our vacations are family ones (which is just how I like it). Dh and I are planning on sneaking away together again next year (to celebrate our 15th anniversary). But...for us, St. Martin was the honeymoon that we never had. :cloud9:

How long ago were you in St. Martin?

I have to tell you how much I'm enjoying reading your old trip reports. I'm in the middle of planning a trip for DD's 8th birthday, and reading about "Stitch's Great Escape" has given me some ideas! I am so glad it helped get your mind turning down the road to fun at WDW! What a special trip that will be for your DD! Stitch couldn't have loved his birthday trip anymore! :thumbsup2 Thanks for posting! :)

Hey, Jay! That St. Martin trip sounded absolutely DIVINE! I'm with you, though, it would be hard to take a trip w/out my baby! VERY HARD! But in the end, I did end up enjoying myself. And the boys were lucky to be spoiled with tons of gifts upon our return home. I made up for missing them by buying them whatever I saw that reminded me of them. :lmao:

Day 5! DHS Here We Come!

This day will be much like the day before but instead of spending the day at EPCOT, we will be spending the day at DHS. I am hoping to make rope drop and looking forward to our lunch at the Brown Derby (a jaycns family favorite).

When we finish up our delicious lunch, I will once again follow Goofy's lead. If he is up for more park time, he shall have it. For all I know, he may have his heart set on staying to see Fantasmic. If so, then that is just what I will do. His wish will be my command. If he is ready to go and nap, we will relax and snooze. If he wants to spend the afternoon seeing how long you can stay in the water before you grow gills then the pool will be our destination. If he wants to shop until he drops, DTD is where we will head. Time in the arcade sounds good to him, we will compete with each other in an arcade challenge. If he wants to putter around on a golf or mini golf course we will work on our swing. Whatever floats his boat will be what the afternoon is filled with.

Dinner will be where eaten when we get hungry. Wherever we are, I will figure out what's available and we will enjoy a great meal. I don't know if we will be grabbing a CS meal, crossing our fingers to get in at a TS place or enjoying a tasty room service meal, I just know it will be great because I will have an amazing little guy sitting across the table from me. :cloud9:

Our evening will be spent still exploring DHS, on the Boardwalk, in the club lounge, swimming, at DTD, relaxing in our room, in the arcade or even exploring other resorts. Or maybe it will be a combination of those.

Once again, I am purposely doing NOTHING 'sneaky, sneaky' so as to throw him off of the surprise scent. :rotfl: The best surprises come when one is least expecting them! :thumbsup2

Day 6...Back to EPCOT!

I have no idea how we will be spending most of this day. One of Goofy's favorite table service meals is at the Garden Grill. I admit to loving this one too, not so much for the food (although that's not bad either) as for the characters and that the whole place revolves (I love that)! The only thing I know for sure about this day is that we will end up at the Garden Grill for dinner. The entire rest of the day is open for use as Goofy sees fit. I am really looking forward to seeing just what he has in store for us!:thumbsup2

Once again...no surprises in sight...just a little more wool over his eyes...I am almost ready to spring the surprise of his (young) life. :wizard:

Day 7...One Wild Day! DAK!!

I love Disney's Animal Kingdom! I cannot wait for an entire day to explore it with one of my favorite people on earth. Only the fact that it is to be our last full day of Goofy's Mom and Me Birthday Bash will distract from our having fun this day. It's always bitter sweet for me, the last full day of a vacation. You know that tomorrow 'real life' is going to reclaim you so you want to milk what vacation is left for all it is worth and not even think about leaving...but that thought of "this time tomorrow" always seems to linger somewhere in the hidden corners of your mind.

I am going to make an effort NOT to think about the fact that Goofy and my time at WDW coming to an end but instead to concentrate on the full day of fun we can enjoy at DAK. And if thoughts of the end of our vacation should creep into my head, I will be sure to think of just how happy we will both be to see dh and the other boys! A week without my husband or other boys will be MORE than enough time away from them for me. I know I will be more than ready to get back to them!

But back to the plans for this day. Once again, most of it will be 'on the fly'. I am really trying to leave us plenty of time for me to simply be able to let us do whatever it is that will make him happy. I am sure you all understand just how hard that is for a planning nut like me. I almost break out into a cold sweat going in not knowing so much about the time we will spend at WDW this trip. :rotfl2:

Dinner on this last night of ours will find us eating at Cape May Cafe. Goofy is a seafood nut so this meal seems to be a great way to fill our stomachs on the last night of our vacation.

Once again, on this day, no surprises are planned. I want to end his trip with a bang! So, I am purposefully planning a big fat nothing by way of sneaky stuff on this evening. The more sure he is that all of the surprises have already happened, the more the surprised he will be.:woohoo:

Jay, I can tell how much fun you are having with this one. How exciting. I know that Goofy is not the rider that Stitch is but I do hope you get to do a few rides. There are such fun ones at DHS and AK. I love seafood also, I hope the Cape May meal is delish.

We have been to St. Martin 3 times. The last time was 2001. I found it to be just as good as the previous 2. The first time we were on a cruise and we docked on the French side but took a tour of the Dutch side. I knew then I would go back to that island. How lucky to have a free trip. Congratulations to your DH. That is a huge honor in anyone's book. I'm thinking I'd keep him if he can get free trips for you. I'd keep him anyway but the perks are great.

I'm ready for the "surprise"

Why thanks! Maybe one day I will be lucky enough to call that my job. :thumbsup2 I am loving my current job though too. I LOVE being a wife and mom. Best gig ever! ;)

Ha ha ha.

Hee hee hee.

:rotfl:

:thumbsup2

What is your favorite dish there?

Wow! What an awesome idea! I never thought to combine the cakes with the backpacks (which are already going to be filled with pens and pencils, a Mickey-head shaped notebook (that I made on my Cricut machine), cards, workbooks, bubbles, a pressed penny book, and a Pirates digital camera). I want them to have the backpacks on our first day in the parks, though, so now I'm thinking that Friday night after we get there I'll let DH take them to Disney Quest (which was our plan anyway) after we eat at TRex and then I'll drive over to the Boardwalk Bakery, get the cakes, and then set them out with the backpacks for them to come back to after Disney Quest. That will be SO cool! Thank you. :worship: Gotta add confetti to the list.

Now I just need to think of some kind of mid-week surprise. With the surprise of the desination and then the backpacks and cakes, Friday will be quite a day, but like you, I want them to think the surprises are done when I have a couple more up my sleeve.

You are TOTALLY contagious! :goodvibes

WAIT...can I update my idea? YOU HAVE A CRICUT MACHINE! **I am going to break down and buy one for myself soon...I love to scrapbook. I just never seem to find the time anymore to make it worth the investment (I need to make time somehow). You are so lucky to have one though!** ANYWAY, if you have the Mickey head shape you could use it and leave the cakes on the table (confetti all around) and then...use the Mickey head shapes (that you can so easily cut with your nifty cutter) to form a path to the backpack hidden on the far side of the bed, in the back of a closet, in the tub, or wherever. It will be like a Mickey head treasure trail! Use a different color paper for each boy and then have them follow the Mickey heads to find their backpacks! Still super easy to set up quickly and SO much more surprise bang for the buck.

Last year the club CMs did this for my boys using ribbon (instead of Mickey heads, you could do that instead if you think it would be easier or more fun) and started at the door and wound the ribbon through our suite and to a bed where gifts were waiting for the boys. That little touch added so much magic to the gifts! My boys were smiling from ear to ear!

If you do use Mickey heads, just write the name of each boy on the first one in his color so he knows which 'trail' to follow. Same thing with the ribbon (unless you want them to follow a single trail together and have the backpacks all in one hiding place). You could also use crepe paper or string or anything you might also happen to already have on hand that is easy to throw in a bag and yet will make the boys think that a magical trail has appeared.

Feel free to ignore this and any other suggestions I offer up. I get WAY carried away lots of the time. ;) I just cannot help it. My mind just gets ahead of me sometimes. :rotfl:

AND you could hold off on the cakes until mid week and just set up a a 'treasure trail' from the door of your room to the backpacks. Maybe even pick up a few Disney candy treats from Goofy's Candy Store at DTD and then place those at the door with a note to follow the Mickey heads to a surprise or stash them every so often along the 'path' (like under a pillow on the bed and have a Mickey head sticking half out or the ribbon running under it) so that they end up with a few sweet treats along the way.

Then save getting the cakes until mid week and have those waiting in the room for the guys one night as a special surprise all on their own! :) OR maybe have matching t-shirts you make or buy at home for the kids to wear the next day set out with the cakes or a tiny stuffed animal or ????! Once again, the sky is the limit! Actually, at WDW, you can even blow past the sky and reach for the stars! :thumbsup2

Oooh, I LOVE the idea of a Mickey head trail! I'll get to work on those Mickey heads right away (if ya need some, I can send them-until you get your OWN Cricut of course ;) ). It would certainly be easier to save the cakes for the middle of the week. I'll have to think on that and look at our schedule. Maybe I can do it sometime when the "guys" are off on their own anyway. If that time comes (and it might...we'll still have the rest of the family with us at that point). Hmmm. Okay, so I need to do some more thinking. I have lots of un-matching "matchy" shirts for us, but there's one I think they will really like, so that one might go well with the cakes. Hmmm. Just got an idea about that too. Similar to yours. I'm thinking I could put numbers or colors of some kind on the cake and they'd have to find the Mickey head that "matched" their cake to find their shirt. So many ideas. I have to keep thinking. You are a totally inspiration!

I am DYING to know what Goofy's great surprise is!

GinnyIt was my third time to St. Martin as well. I had spent two days in port there during two cruises (one twenty years ago and another just nine years ago). Staying on the island gave me the chance to really explore and discover so many wonderful things that I overlooked during both one day visits while the cruise ships were in port. St. Martin is such a beautiful place. I feel in love.

I guess I will keep dh. :rotfl: I would truly be lost without him!

I will be posting the surprise soon. :thumbsup2

OMG Jay!!!! 1:30AM!!!!! You were up quite late!!!

Everything sounds just perfect, of course! I just can't wait to find out the BIG SURPRISE!!!! Ha ha ha, I have to stay up late to find time to read/post. :rotfl: Sometimes the middle of the night is the only time I can find to sit down and type. Sleep, who needs it?! :rotfl2:

Ooooo, Oooooo what's the big surprise???!!! popcorn:::rolleyes1:cool2::scratchin:ssst:

You guys are making me want to surprise my son! Of course, surprises like that fit right into Disney, but how can I make our Tennesse vacation magical for DS4. Do you guys have any input??? What about a stuffed bear (like the ones that can be found in the mountains there)? Have him appear the first day of vacation and then maybe he can be holding a new little treat each morning when you son wakes up? Stuff like glowsticks, a special snack, a water bottle to carry when hiking, a DVD to cuddle up and watch with mom and dad, a certificate to go somewhere fun (go carts or an arcade or something like that), a new pair of swimtrunks or arm floaties.

Or maybe you would rather do one big gift basket or box full of goodies and leave it for him to find the first evening you arrive.

Just spending time with you on vacation will make it magical for him. Some of my best memories are long lazy days spent at the lake. Grilling out, swimming, skiing, building castles in the sand. The simple things stand out all these years later as being the best. :cloud9:

Another island I also enjoyed was Tortola. It has huge boulders in the water and caves to explore. Totally wonderful. When we were there they didn't have any resorts but I believe they do now so I would like to check into that again. I'm working on a cruise for Don to Alaska next summer. We decided to retire Dec 2011 so we need to get some vacays in before.

I've been thinking about staying at the WL in a junior suite/deluxe room and I came across your WL thread. I'm excited to see a PLANNING thread - yeah!!! My second favorite thing - planning a WDW trip (first is - of course - going to WDW)! Thanks for all the great information, pictures, and descriptions. Your family is just lovely and you are a really great person and Mom. You have inspired me to venture out of the parks and resorts and I am definitely going to book a boat trip as a suprise. Thanks for your inspiration!

Thus, I write pre trip reports instead of trying to talk to him over and over again about stuff he really is NOT interested in. ;) He just likes to show up and have the fun.

I am so happy you found an idea you could use. Disney has SO much to offer. I love digging up new things to try out each time. And of course, we love to revisit old favorites too! :)

It is getting so close for your trip. How exciting.

Don and I plan to retire Dec/2011. I told him that was fine but I need at least one good vacay a year and a couple of small ones in between. We do love to travel (even together). I'm hoping the girls will find time for just them and me to do some stuff together. As long as the pension holds out I'm good to go. I hope I can still say that in 2 years.

One Final Morning at the BWI

I am sure we will have a lot of packing to do and without dh to share the packing duties I plan on setting aside a bit of extra time to get it done myself.

I plan on sleeping in and then ordering room service for breakfast. A totally decadent way to spend our final morning! I know Goofy will love it, he is a big fan of breakfast in bed. :thumbsup2 As we wait for breakfast to arrive I can finish up the packing while Goofy gets to watch cartoons and stay cuddled up in bed. :) To me, this will be the perfect way to start what will hopefully be a super special great day!

Sadly, we will then have to check out before starting the rest of our adventures. It's always sad to see that final charges envelope appear on your last morning. At least this time it will be bitter sweet. I know that both Goofy and I will be happy to reunite with the guys we left back home.

After check out we will head to Downtown Disney. Goofy and I will have a bit of last minute shopping to do, I am sure. Along with shopping until we drop (or at least until we have filled our bags up) I have a small surprise scheduled for him. We are going to be having lunch at T-Rex. I think he will really like eating there. It looks like a great place to have a fun meal. I am excited more for the dinosaur themed shopping after our meal than the meal itself. My little Buzz is a huge dinosaur fan. We went to a children's museum earlier this summer and he fell in love with all things dinosaur. I am going to seize the chance to do a bit of early Christmas shopping for him and I cannot wait to hand him his very own "build your own" dinosaur that Goofy and I will create for him. I really wish I could share a meal at T-Rex with my little Buzz. I know he would really love it!

Once we complete our dino-meal we will finish up our shopping and then will come a bit bigger surprise...

What? What? What?

That sounds great for Goofy. Breakfast in bed, watching cartoons. Every little boys dream come true for sure. I would do breakfast in bed with all the grandsons when they were little. It was such a fun thing to do. Just chill and watch a favorite cartoon. He is so going to love this day.

Yes, bittersweet but fun just the same. And then better yet you will be reuinted with the rest of the gang. That would be a fun surprise. Check out, do whatever then have DH and the boys join you for another week together. Would that be totally awesome. Then you could all come home together. They could just be there at the TRex waiting for you. You have taught me to be very sneaky.

The Bit Bigger Surprise...

When we leave DTD we will hop on a bus (or take a cab if the bus stop seems crowded) and stop by the Polynesian to 'take a monorail ride'. Upon arrival, I will head to bell services while I make sure that my Goof is just out of ear shot. In case anyone is still as unsuspecting as I am hoping my little Goofster will be, we aren't actually at the Polynesian to ride the monorail (although we will be riding it, I am sure;) ).

Instead of hopping directly on the monorail, we will hop on a golf cart instead. I am going to tell him that we are taking a tour of the resort. Not very exciting in and of itself, I will give you that. But the place it is taking us will be exciting. We are going to arrive at Hawaii building and head to the club desk and there he will finally be surprised!

We are going to CHECK IN!! Upon our arrival they will hand him a birthday themed personalized Mickey ears (that I have had them use my credit card to pre-purchase)and welcome him to the Polynesian for one last night of birthday fun at MNSSHP! :woohoo:

I am hoping this blows my little Goof out of the water! :wizard:

To be continued :)

What follows is Goofy's BWI photo scavanger hunt:

This scavenger hunt has been created just for you by a special Disney friend!
Be sure to follow the directions and most importantly, be sure to have fun!

•First find the biggest mouth around! One so wide you could slide right down. Now, open your mouth as big as you can and have someone take a picture of your very large grin with the even bigger one in the background.

• Find an elephant who likes to give showers. Be sure he doesn’t get you wet with his trunk! Have someone snap a picture of you giving him a hug.

•Find an iron hand which is always lifting. Have someone take a picture of you pretending to do the same thing. Make sure you look like you are trying hard!

•Back inside you will find a bunch of movies that are sure to please. For only a penny who wouldn’t want to watch them! Have someone snap your picture while you are watching a penny movie.

•Next up, look up and look down. Find an elephant that is also a house. What you need to complete this task is a picture of you pointing to the elephant!

•Dundy's Sundries is a good place to pick up anything you forgot. To pass this task have someone take a picture of you buying something there.

•Find a hidden Mickey on a carousel horse in the main lobby. Have someone take a picture of you pointing to it.

•Head up to the club level lounge and find a cast member to share a smile with. Make that you get a picture with them! Once the picture is snapped the cast member will hand you one final clue!

The final clue will instruct Goofy to head back to our room (where as previously posted) the carousel birthdaycake will be waiting for him. :)

Sorry for posting this out of order, but I didn't have it completed when I first posted about it. :)

THANK YOU AGAIN MRS.SPRATT! Your idea about the pictures totally rocked! I am going to snap one of him (as the instructions direct) and also let him snap pictures of each place so that I get to see the BWI through his eyes as well. :3dglasses

AND THANK YOU SFBANK (from the BWI info thread) who gave me a lot of ideas and so patiently answered my many questions. :)

This is so totally awesome. This will so completely blow him away. Excellent last surprise. You are the Mom for sure. :worship: You are the mom. Sounds like "You are the man". The boys sometimes say that to each other, friends and teammates and it always cracks me up. :rotfl: I cannot wait to see his face! I hope I am quick enough to get that look on camera! Last surprise? Hmmm...I might just have a little more up my sleeve. :rolleyes1

This will be just wonderful, I know he will love it!! Good job!! Thanks! I LOVE scavenger hunts. I have ever since I was little. I hope it does turn out to be even half as much fun as I think it will be.:laughing:

The giant iron hand is found on top of the ESPN place. It's lifting a barbell up. I have been told the elephant house is in the main lobby near the fireplace/BWV check in area.

I worded it like that so it would seem like a 'real Disney' scavenger activity (sort of like the hidden Mickey hunt at the WL). I want to keep him guessing. ;) So...it will be me taking his picture. :thumbsup2 Or at least that's the plan. ;)

That is an awesome surprise! I can't wait to hear the trip report. Also, love the scavenger hunt! You always go out for your guys!I think I want to make a collection of scavenger hunts for use at the different resorts. How much fun would that be! I cannot wait to enjoy the vacation so I can write about it! ;) In just a little under a month I will be at WDW! :woohoo::yay::woohoo:

As far as the treasure hunt, I know I will treasure the scrapbook made from those pictures/memories for always.

PS I still think of my old neighbor's dog and hearing them yell "Lazy Doxy" out to their dog every time I see you user name. :rotfl::lmao::rotfl2:

I like the scavenger hunt idea so much that...

I am going to do one for him at the Polynesian too! I can see him really loving it!

But before I spring it on him, we will either spend some time in the pool, relaxing in the club lounge or maybe even catching a quick nap (if our room is ready for us).

Relaxing done, it will be scavenger hunt time! This hunt was made with a lot of help from a very nice DISer on the Poly FAQ, Tinkerbelle_325. She was very helpful and really took helping me under her wing. What great people DISers are!

Goofy's Polynesian Photo Scavenger Hunt:

Your adventure begins with searching for a few silly tikis. The tikis you are seeking love to hide in the Boutiki. To pass this step of your adventure you must do one important thing, have your picture taken with your pick for favorite tiki.

Near the falling waters, down close to your toes. Find the hidden Mickey and donít forget to strike a pose. Have someone take your picture as you pose away.

Aloha is Hawaiian for hello. Mahalo is Hawaiian for thank you. Do you know the word for 'family' in Hawaiian? To complete this task have someone take a picture of you pointing to a sign with the word on it.

Second star to the right and straight on to morning! Find the place with Peter Pan and Tinkís club for kids. Have someone take a picture of you there.

Normally lava would bubble, burst and fly from itís top but here you will only find water flowing through it. To complete this task, have someone take your picture while you point to it and pretend itís about to blow.

Near where water flies up from the ground you will find a Tiki who wants to get you wet. Without letting him, pose for a picture.

Captain Jack and Captain Hook...who would they visit when they get hungry? Captain _ _ _ _. To complete this portion of your task, you must buy a snack and have someone take a picture of you doing it.

Pick a palm tree (any one) and show off your smile to get this task done. Donít forget to have someone snap a picture!

This building is named after our nationís 50th state . Go there and find a club cast member to visit. Hurry quick, you are almost done! The club cast member will give you your very last clue. Donít forget the picture!

:thumbsup2

The Culmination of Well Laid Plans...

Or at least plans I hope are well laid. :rotfl2: Upon completing his photo scavenger hunt he will receive one last clue from the club CM. Along with the clue, the CM will hand him a set of sand toys (once again, the IPO is doing some shopping with my credit card before we arrive). His last clue will direct him to head out to the beach to make use of his new toys. In the event of rain, I have a back up clue printed out that will take him back to our room instead.

Hopefully it will be clear because I am really looking forward to digging my toes down into the sand and helping my little Goof build a castle. The best part of this moment? While Goofy and I am busy building a castle he is sure to get an offer to help him. From who?

NOBODY except dh has ANY idea about this! :cool2: I have kept my big mouth shut! Not one boy suspects ANYTHING of this sort will be happening! :cheer2: Yay me! :cheer2:

Let me pause on our beach scene for a second and back up here and share a bit of my previous planning. When we fly out, we are flying out from a city about two hours away. I did this by design so that the boys would not just think we would be coming back in to our local airport (normally we just fly out of the airport that's about 30 minutes away) on our return flight. Instead, they will think it's no big deal when dh gets them up in the middle of the night (they will be told it's just early in the morning) and shuffles them from their beds to the van to 'drive to the airport'. While they sleep dh should be able to put a lot of mileage between home and WDW. Somewhere along the way they are going to realize they have long since passed up the point along the route where they should have gotten off of the freeway to go to the airport. At that point, dh will have the immense pleasure of springing the surprise on them. I do so wish I could be there to see and hear their reactions. It's going to be a wonderful moment!:woohoo: He said he will most likely ask them if they would like to pick us up at WDW instead the airport. My guess is the answer will be the 'right' one. ;)

I already have their suitcases packed and put back where we store our luggage so they won't have a clue that anything is going to happen! :) All dh has to do is pop it in the van after they go to sleep the night before.

Once they know where they are headed the boys should have about 6 to 7 hours ahead of them of drive time. Hopefully that time flies by for them since they will be so excited about their surprise. And I imagine that they will be very excited to hear that they are going to get to surprise Goofy on the beach. They will love being in on his surprise (even if they only know for a few hours before they get to surprise him).

Cut back to the beach...as we are digging in the sand, dh and the boys will approach from behind Goofy and ask him if they can help him build his castle. :thumbsup2

I cannot WAIT to see his face. I think he will either start screaming and laughing or go into shock!:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

I am hoping he forgives me for using MNSSHP as a 'red herring'. It was just the most plausible excuse I could come up with for us moving over to the Poly for 'only one night'. :littleangel: :rolleyes1:laughing: I had to lead him down the wrong path to be able to surprise him with this (my granddaddy of all surprises). :thumbsup2

So...no, we are not going to head to MNSSHP that night (they won't be having one). Instead, we have dinner reservations at Kona and another week's worth of Disney fun to have! I am hoping he will forgive me for the tricky stuff once he sees the outcome. Actually, I know he will. He LOVES his dad and brothers and I know he will be over the moon (and back again) to see them! It's going to be great! FOR ALL OF US! :grouphug: I cannot wait to have my whole family together again at my favorite place. It's gonna rock!:woohoo:

You sneak. That is so over the top. I was so close with my sneaky plan, wasn't I? We must think a lot alike. You absolutely take the cake. And it is so wonderful for you to get to be together and all leave together just as you really wanted. I'm afraid I have figured out some of your evil ways. I'm so glad I was right on this one.

I am just star-struck and speachless. :worship: :worship: :worship:

YOU ARE SO GOOD, GINNY! I laughed so hard that you were so specific so that I could say no to you without telling tales and still preserve the surprise. :rotfl: You hit the nail on the head for sure!

We really weren't planning on being at WDW as a family this year but our trip to Washington DC was put on hold because it was scheduled so shortly after we lost my dad. I just couldn't bear to try and throw myself into a vacation at that point. I needed time to deal with everything and start to heal before I was ready to hit the road. We were looking forward to DC in the spring though so we are going to save it for next spring and enjoy our family time at WDW this year instead. All of us had a hard time with losing him. So, we are looking forward to this special time to sort of recharge all of our batteries and to soak up the happiness that always permeates a WDW trip. :wizard:

Well, I've been sitting here waiting for you to post the "surprise" and I somehow missed when you did. I noticed Ginny posted, but figured it was in response to the first part.

I'M GLAD I CHECKED!!!!

I am completely speechless. I had NO idea (though I did like Ginny's idea when I read it). The funny thing for me is, you are coming in 4 or 5 days before we will be there. I couldn't find anywhere that you mentioned exact dates, but I tried to figure it out based on your ticker.

Then I figured I MUST be wrong because every time I did the math there was NO MNSSHP on the day you said you were going! At least I know I can still do math.

You

are

amazing!

So do we now get another week's worth of PTR?

You will have such a grand time at the Poly. Soaking up Disney as it is supposed to be. With the people you love most in the world. I can't wait to see pictures. That dh of yours deserves big kudos for bringing 3 boys in a van alone for those hours. I'd be keeping him for sure.

You have made memories to last a lifetime. Good job mom. You have outdone yourself once more.

Hi Jay,
Great surprises, and I love the scavenger hunts! I knew what your big surprise was from the Poly thread, and I didn't dare comment before now. I am not nearly as good as you at keeping a secret!!! That is going to be the most amazing surprise for Goofy, to suddenly see his dad and brothers on the beach! And then to realize that he'll be in WDW for another whole week! It just doesn't get any better than that for a kid.
You guys really deserve a nice relaxing week on the beach, its been a tough year. But, please do me a favor, and don't wear out the concierge staff too much! (we arrive right after you have left :sad2:) Then again, after a week helping you and your lovely family, I'm sure they will all be in great moods for my family's visit.:goodvibes
Now, can I ask, how has the staff been about shopping for you? I've seen on some threads that the shopping service has been kind of hit/miss lately. I'm trying to think of a small surprise in the room for my family, but I'm not sure what yet. I don't want to go all out with the florist package, I was thinking along the lines of a beach towel and sand toys, but then I heard that the shopping service had stopped, so I never looked into it. I am curious to hear how your experience with them has been. Thanks!!

I am actually crying real tears here!!

That is the best surprise evah!!! I can't even begin to comment! (I too was going crazy trying to figure out your HP night...) What a great surprise for Goofy, but also what a gift for you!!

I know how it is to lose your Daddy and have your whole world go upside down. I lost mine when I was 27, and I think all the time about what he would think of his beautiful grandchildren. What a great chance for you to gather ALL your boys close and just enjoy them! I can't wait to hear about it!!!

(and kudos to you for being able to keep the surprise. I'm going crazy trying not to tell my best friend. Speaking of that, I'm taking her to DW in December for her 40th birthday. Any suggestions of ways I can surprise her?)

I am just hoping that the club level CMs will play along with the whole MNSSHP thing. The IPO CMs assure me that they will be delighted to help me surprise him like this. I have my fingers crossed that it all works out.

What day do you arrive?

And yes, I am going to share more PTR! ;)

It was sure too funny.

I think this is the perfect plan and the perfect time for you and your family. You know your dad would want you to have your family time.

Ginny He does deserve a LOT of praise for that. I hope little Buzz does well. Although I am hoping he can get in about 6 hours before any of them are even awake for the day. :thumbsup2 That should help a whole lot.

Knowing that my dad would want us all to enjoy some purely fun/magical time together led to me booking for all of us. I just know it would be what he would want for us to do. :cloud9: So, it feels good to be doing it. I am so sorry for the loss of your dad. It's never easy.

My question is, how in the World (pun intended) is she going to top THAT is December with Aladdin? Ha ha ha. I will make that trip all about what will make him happy and that will be just perfect for him. :rotfl: I have a few ideas for him already...they are just in the very early dream stages vs. starting to plan yet. :thumbsup2

I think you shocked us all!!! I was giving myself a headache trying to figure out your MNSSHP night cause by my calculations there wasn't one that night!!!

Your DH may want to invest in ear plugs for when he lets the boys in on the surprise... I think there will be a lot celebrating!!! :woohoo::yay::cool1:

I must say you have got some serious will power keeping all of these secrets... I am very jealous, I can't keep my mouth shut.... HA HA HA Nope not a MNSSHP on the books but it hopefully will fool my little Goof. :rotfl:

I think dh is looking forward to hearing those whoops of delight! I know I wish I could hear them! He might want to have earplugs for the rest of the trip down though. :lmao: I think it will be fine for him though, our boys have done a lot of long drives and are sort of trained to just sit and bear it.

I have NO self control. Seriously, I cannot keep a surprise a secret to save my life. I just make sure that I say stuff like "next year when we all go to WDW" and fill in what I want to say about this year's trip.:rotfl: And I NEED the DIS as an outlet for my planning talk so that I keep my lips sealed here at home.

They have been GREAT about shopping for us. I have asked them to purchase a couple of things and they have been more than willing. I would just call in and ask them to pick up the towel and sand toys for you. It's a great perk (and I am going to use it as long as I can). No surcharge (you only pay the actual price of whatever items you want) and they are really good about making sure it gets where it needs to be when it needs to be there. It's always fun for the kids to walk into a room with surprises waiting for them at the end of a long park day. :)

(and kudos to you for being able to keep the surprise. I'm going crazy trying not to tell my best friend. Speaking of that, I'm taking her to DW in December for her 40th birthday. I have fallen asleep more than one night dreaming about it! :cloud9:

I am sorry about your dad. It's hard no matter how old you are. I lost my mom when I was 23. She was able to meet Aladdin but, sadly, none of my other boys.

Send her on a scavenger hunt! They aren't just for kids. I would LOVE it if someone did one for me. If that's not her style, what about tea at the GF one afternoon? A private dinner at the GF one evening? Pick up a counter service meal at Capt. Cook's at the Poly one night and then have a picnic on the beach while watching the fireworks/water parade. Design a personalized birthday t-shirt for her and order it from the disneystore.com before you go. Schedule a surprise birthday breakfast, lunch or dinner in Cindy's castle. Surprise her with going to see Cirque (at DTD) or the Blue Man Group (at Universal). Look into heading to Discovery Cove for the day if she is a huge fan of dolphins/sting rays/fish. Take her on a DTD shopping spree. Surprise her with a special cake at dinner one night. Buy her a small stuffed animal of her favorite character and have it waiting for her one night when she comes back to her room. Buy her (and you) a tiara and wear with with pride. Treat her to the House of Blues gospel breakfast. Enjoy a picnic in the park at AKL. Watch Wishes from the Contemporary's observation deck on floor 4 (open to the public) or walk up the fire stairs (right next to the observation deck) and watch from a landing. Get a mini cake from the Boardwalk Bakery (priced $3.99 each) and surprise her with it while watching Illuminations from the resort (only the higher fireworks are visible). Make her personalized Mickey birthday ears. If you will have a car there, sneak away and get her a balloon bouquet. Make sure that she gets her birthday phone call from Goofy. ;) Treat her to a pedicure at the GF spa (or a massage or manicure or whatever you think would float her boat). Make her your own version of spa time in your room. Bring some nail polish/lotion/relaxing music and stop by to buy her an assortment of bath bombs at Basin and then draw her bath for her. After she has a relaxing soak, you guys can play teenagers and do each others nails. The Basin store at the GF has an amazing little product. It's a lotion candle. I LOVE LOVE LOVE them. You light them for a bit and then pour the warm wax into your hand and use it as a lotion. SO decadent (and priced under $20). Take her para-sailing at Sammy Duval's (at the CR). Rent water mice. Take her on one of the fishing excursions. Set up a tee time on one of the golf courses. Bring a few decorations from home and decorate the room after she has gone to bed one night so she wakes up to festive room. SO MANY IDEAS...it all depends on her. Think of the sorts of things she loves best and dream from there. :wizard:

OMgoodness, it's fabulous! I'm surprised and it's not even my trip!!:lmao:;) I sure hope he falls for it! :rotfl2:

Day 2 of Goofy's Family Birthday Celebration!

I am sure that the boys who haven't already spent a week in the parks will be eager to put some park time under their belts. I know I would be! ;) So, after a quick breakfast in the club lounge, we are going to head to Disney's Animal Kingdom for the day. All of us love this park and I know we will have a very fun day!

I am thinking of trying out one of the new picnics in the park that are available at DAK. Other than that, I plan on us riding, watching shows, catching the parade, visiting characters, enjoying the animals and maybe even giving some of the carnival type games in Dinoland USA a try.

Upon our return from the park, we are going to let our bitty Buzz take a quick nap (fingers crossed that happens) while the rest of us kick our feet up too. After our brief refresher, we are planning on heading to one of our new favorites. , Artist Point at the WL. YEP, all six of us. I figure by eating early and bringing Buzz in well rested we can enjoy a delicious meal with a well behaved little guy enjoying it as well. ;)

Our evening will be spent enjoying the Poly. The club lounge with it's view of the castle, the beach, the pools. Just a relaxing time to spend with each other enjoying each other's company. :cloud9:

Oh and I forgot to mention a surprise. When the boys get back from dinner they will each find a special gift awaiting them. An assortment of stuffed animals and books will await them. Once again, thank you IPO for doing a bit of advance shopping for me! :goodvibes

Sorry to highjack your pretrippie a bit, but I just realized that DisneyJo was responding to your report and hers was the first trip report that I ever read on Disboards (and got me addicted to reading them I might add).....The fact that she is from the UK (my favorite place outside of Disney) and loves Disney started me reading/lurking!!!:yay:

Ok, Jay...you've done it again! I was catching up on your report, reading along about Goofy digging in the sand and then I read your surprise and I actually think I squealed! I have never squealed before but I do believe you got that out of me! :lmao: I am sooooo excited for your surprise! I am sitting here a bit misty eyed thinking about it. I just love the whole idea of everyone being together! Super wonderful!!!! :woohoo: I don't know how you are not bursting at the seams with this secret! I love it!!! :thumbsup2

Hee hee hee. I was planning on NOT mentioning our extra week at all and then having it be a surprise addition to the trip report when I wrote it. Notice I couldn't hold it in. :lmao: I am going to try to have the video camera rolling! I want to be able to revisit that moment for sure!:woohoo: What surprises have you set in motion for your boys? I am hoping for another trip report. Your last one is one of my all time favorite trip reports!

Awwww, thanks! I am definitely planning on doing a TR for this trip, I so enjoyed reliving the trip with the last one and it made for a perfect way to remember all the little details. Thanks for inspiring me to write it in the first place.

I've got a few little ideas for our Christmas trip. I'm planning on having Memories by Betsy deliver a gift basket for each of the kids for our arrival day, and I'm kicking around the idea of having Gifts of a Lifetime decorate the room for Christmas, it's a little pricey though so I'm still debating - I'm afraid DH would get mad at me for this one. I'm also planning on taking them to do a couple of little things that they know nothing about, but will really enjoy - cane pole fishing @ POR and for a "sleigh" ride @ the WL. Our last night we will be taking a Wishes Cruise, I'm going to contact private dining @ the CR to see what kind of treats I can have waiting for us to enjoy as well. :thumbsup2

I must say, I probably never would have thought to throw little surprises into our trip if it weren't for you, so thank-you! I so can't wait to see their little faces light up!

Barb, I miss you! LOTS! Come around more often. I am also hoping for a PM to hear how things are going. Hope your kids are ready for the start of school. :thumbsup2

I'm still here. Always reading, rarely posting. Yes, kids are getting ready for school. 7th grade this year. holy cow!

Sorry about the lack of a PM. Overall, life is very good right now. Things are going well. Finally. :) Will PM soon.

Hey- where's Heidi been? Maybe we can lure her out of hiding, waddya think? ;)

We arrive on the 18th, so I know we'll be there at the same time for at least part of the time now. We'll be there the 18th-26th. And I am SO looking around for you guys. I can't wait to see you and tell DH, LOOK! There's that mom I told you about! I don't tell him everything about the DISboards. I actually don't tell him much at all, but I've told him about you. Even he is impressed.

You have so inspired me that I'm already thinking of things we can do for our next trip (next June, just the four of us and MIL as opposed to this one which is the four of us-friend isn't coming anymore, my mom and dad, my brother, SIL, and nephew, my grandparents, and SIL's mom. Yeah. So we're planning fun things for the next trip! :lmao:). I've already decided we're celebrating BOTH my DS's birthdays (we'll actually be there for one, but not the other-older DS is March) and DH's and my 10th Anniversary (which is actually in April). And I'm going to think of something to do for MIL too. I'm just in the initial planning stages, but I'm already excited...and we haven't even left for the September trip yet!

I tell ya, you ARE an INSPIRATION!!!

I am so glad Ginny pointed me to your TR. :goodvibes

Oh anniversaries at WDW are SO MUCH fun! I am excited about our 2010 Disney trip as well. We are going to celebrate our 15th year of marriage there. I am going to start the planning very soon. I want to have a big anniversary party and hopefully talk a bunch of our friends and family into joining us. :thumbsup2

Day 3 of Goofy's Family Birthday Celebration!

This day will be his actual birthdate. So, we are going to his very favorite park, the Magic Kingdom. :mickeyjum I am going to give him the same choice I gave Stitch on his birthday of what they would like to redeem their free admission for. Being as we will have park tickets as part of our room package, he will have the option of choosing to get a gift card in the amount of what his admission would have cost OR birthday fast passes for our whole party. Stitch chose to go the Birthday Fast Pass route and we didn't wait in one single line the entire day (he had eight rides via his birthday fast pass plus we used the regular fast pass system and we were there at a slow time of year). It was great fun and we rode more rides than I ever imagined possible. Either pick will be a good one on his part. I am genuinely curious as to what he will pick.

We are going to start off with breakfast in the club lounge (again) and plan to make it to MK before opening so that we can secure the birthday treat of his choice. To get there we will hop on the monorail (well, I did promise Goofy a monorail ride to get him to the Poly in the first place:laughing: ). I need to be there early for another reason as well. I plan to get my little Buzz his first ever hair cut at the barber shop inside the Magic Kingdom. This is where you will find us first thing after rope drop.

After our Buzz is the proud wearer of "My First Hair Cut" Mickey ears we will get down to the reason we are all at WDW to begin with, celebrating Goofy's 10th birthday. Our park day is purposely left open so that all of us may follow along with what the birthday boy's heart desires. Rides, shows, snacks, all of it will follow the whims and wishes of our Goof. Per the birthday boys request (when asked to pick his top MK table service place as part of a general conversation so as not to ruin the surprise), we will be having lunch at the Crystal Palace. Dinner will either by at a CS place while still at MK or back at the resort (yum yum room service).

Our evening will be spent enjoying a fun birthday surprise. I have a birthday Wishes cruise reserved for our entire family. Not on the Grand One this time but I doubt that will make our family's time out on the water any less magical. Also, no special treats will be ordered food wise as we are planning on taking full advantage of the nightly dessert offerings in the club lounge. The rest of the evening will be as full or empty as our energy levels allow. Swimming, sleeping, sitting or just vegging out in front of the television. Whatever happens will be just perfect, it's Disney, so I know this will be true! :cloud9:

UP NEXT a fun surprise that I think will knock all of the boys socks off...:woohoo:

DisneyJo's one about the Disney World Moms Panel was my first one... I kept saying I can't believe she got to stay in the castle! Everything looked and sounded like so much fun, that I went back and read the old ones...Same thing with your trip report...Found the 2008 one and then read the Stitch one and this pretrip one AND THEN the old ones (took a while! :)).... I just love to read the reports from people who seem to take so much pleasure in what they are doing and who they are with!!

I just love to read the reports from people who seem to take so much pleasure in what they are doing and who they are with!! I know, I still smile wistfully every single time that I think of the night she (and her new friends) got to spend in the castle! What a dream come true! I am so happy that she was able to have that happen and that she shared her pictures/feelings/descriptions with us all. What an amazingly magical treat of a lifetime! :cloud9:

And thank you for your sweet words. I do feel immense happiness over the time I am lucky enough to spend at Disney. Honestly, I don't even know if I have the words to say just how much I love it!

I too go back and read old trip reports when I find someone's trip report that I just fall in love with. Actually, I must admit, I am NOT a patient person, so I do most of my reading on the closed trip reports board. :lmao: That way I know they are finished before I start and I can read them at my own pace. How silly am I! :rotfl2: I always hate not being able to respond there though so I end up sending out PMs and probably driving people bonkers. :rolleyes1:thumbsup2

There is still a day 3 of Goofy's and my time alone at WDW too. I just started numbering the days over again after everyone is together. It's like two vacations in one so I am numbering it as it's own trip. Sorry for being so confusing. ;)

Rereading my explanation above I've confused myself too. :lmao: So simply put, NO you did not skip anyting. We are going to be there a week before the 'family vacation' part begins. For my ease of planning I just started numbering the days over again once the family arrives. :thumbsup2

Mrs. Jay -

WOW. This is better than the "Boys, how would you like to spend ANOTHER WEEK AT DISNEY" surprise, and I thought you could never top that! This will be an AWESOME birthday for the whole family - I can't wait for the TR!

And I'm so glad I suggested the photo scavenger hunt - I as afraid to receommend anything because you ARE the QUEEN of surprises - I figured you would have already thought of it!

Ooooh, I can hardly wait! I'm pretty sure sweet Goof will be saying during the solo part of the trip, "Aladdin would really like this," or, "Maybe we should get this for Stitch..." Little will he know he will be able to give them their gifts (or share photos...whatever) MUCH sooner than he thinks!

Warmest Regards,

Mrs. Spratt

ps - I'm sorry to hear about the Washington trip being cancelled - I imagine your family will have a wonderful, educational time when you go..but I can completely understand not wanting to go so soon after you lost your father...maybe next year! (More surprises to plan!)

I would LOVE to decorate the room myself, but here in lies the problem. We are flying, and already packing for both warm & cool weather. I'm not sure that I'll have room to pack decorations as well (I really want a small tree - not sure how much room that will take up!). I suppose buying a cheap suitcase and paying the fee for the additional checked bag would still be cheaper than having GOAL decorate. Hmmmm, you've given me something to think about!

I haven't looked at the cake thread in a long time - sounds like I'm going to have to get over there and check it out, a Haunted Mansion themed cake sounds so cool!

You've also convinced me to check out DisneyJos TR, it sounds fabulous, I'm looking forward to checking it out. :thumbsup2

It might be cheapest of all (and you could have a tree then too) if you ship a box down to your resort. :thumbsup2 You don't have to worry about having room to take the stuff home either since you will be able to ship it back in the same box (if you have stuff you would like to keep). :)

Will you be there on Christmas? If not, you could still do something like a "Disney Eve" while you are at WDW. If you are shipping (or bring with you an extr a suitcase) stick in some of those cheapy red felt stockings. Decorate each one with your son's favorite character or just a general Disney theme and then have them magically appear one morning during your trip or have your boys set them out one evening. Sprinkle a little bit of sparkly Disney or Christmas confetti around the area where you leave the stockings for them to find and you will have an instant special surprise! Fill the stockings with candy you buy at WDW (overpriced but so appealing to kids ;) ), little trinkets you bring from home (glow sticks, new sunglasses, a paperback book), sneaky purchases you make while at WDW (if your boys see things they like in the stores, quietly buy them and surprise them in the stockings), Disney pins or even a home made gift certificate for one of the events you have planned (like the sleigh ride or cane pole fishing). I love this idea so much I am going to store it away to use during Aladdin's trip! :wizard:

And yes, I know you didn't ask...I am just addicted to dreaming up ideas. Feel free to ignore any and/or all of them! ;)

You should definitely apply for the Mom's panel! It will actually be my first Wishes cruise ever. We have rented the Grand One and done an afternoon cruise/dessert party on it. And Goofy and I will do an Illuminations Cruise on the Breathless the week before but none of us has ever done a Wishes cruise! :yay: I am so excited! :yay:

It was pretty darn gross at the WL that first night. I don't know if I have ever been so angry while on vacation. Actually, I know I haven't. Thankfully I had that long walk to the front desk to sort of cool me off before the poor front desk people had to deal with me. :rotfl:

I promise you won't be disappointed with Disney Jo's TR! It's mighty magical reading!

And I do so wish to one day be on the Mom's Panel but I know it's a big thing to so many people who love Disney that it's not much more than a dream. However, this is Disney and at Disney sometimes the dreams that you wish for will come true! :cloud9: I am so happy for all of those who have gotten to live out their own dreams by being on the panel so far! What a great thing for all involved! AND for the tons of people they help...imagine how much fun it would be to be able to help out so many other WDW bound people! AMAZING! :goodvibes

Awww, see, I am just missing everybody. Which may be good if that means the crowds are lower but is STINKY because I was hoping to be able to meet up with a few DISers. The only DIS friend I have gotten to spend any amount of time with was LindaBabe (and that was far too short of a time span). Sounds like a great day at the MK. Buzz's first haircut will be so cute!! And another fireworks cruise - WOW. Just magical. :cloud9:
Thanks for your advice on the IPO shopping - I think I'll give them a call!:goodvibesI just talked to the IPO at the Boardwalk two days ago and they are also doing a bit of shopping for me before we arrive. So, although I had read about people having issues with shopping requests as well, I am happy to report that I had none myself. :)

Did you have any luck with the IPO doing a bit of shopping for you?

Good grief! :) You have quite a trip and some awesome surprises planned for Goofy and the rest of your family!:cool1: I got a little behind (okay-alot behind) on my Dising this summer and this is what I come back to.
It sounds like you are going to have such a great trip. Make sure that you record the surprise at the beach so we can all see it. It brings tears to my eyes just thinking about it.:lovestruc It will be sooo sweet!I'm so glad you are 'back to DISing'. I am SO excited to record the surprise on the beach. That is my 'dream moment' of this trip! :cloud9:

I'm all caught up and, oh my goodness, you totally need to be nominated for Mother of the Year! Your family is blessed to have you as a mother and wife.:lmao: I'm not mom of the year material...I just love my family and love surprises and love Disney World. I am the lucky girl who gets to be the mom/wife of my great guys and enjoy a Disney vacation with them. :)

Wow!!! I somehow missed the big surprise post! Holy MOLY you are the master secret keeper (other than my friend who knows the sex of her baby she's having next week and hasn't even told her DH!!)...the boys are going to LOVE it. I'd love to see the look on Goofy's face!!I am good at keeping secrets but keeping my mouth shut about surprises is SUPER HARD. I am to the point now where I need a super sized tube of super glue to help me out!

WOW...how is she holding that in!? I would have blabbed for sure!:lmao:

Day 4 of Goofy's Family Birthday Celebration!

A day full of fun twists. :wizard:

We are going to start our day chowing down on room service for breakfast. I am already looking forward to sitting on the balcony sipping my tea. I don't know about you, but to me, room service breakfast is just such a fun treat. Thank goodness for the deluxe dining plan and all of the credits it will give us! :thumbsup2

After a leisurely breakfast we are going to head out and play mini golf. We have yet to conquer the summer side of the Winterland/Summerland golf course. We are going to remedy that! ;)

After a morning of golf, it will be time for a late lunch at the Grand Floridian Cafe. It's one of those places we have never tried and in looking at the menu, it looked like it might just be a tasty place to grab lunch. That and I was looking for a meal at the Grand Floridian...my Goofy needs a birthday cake to share with his brothers! :woohoo: That's twist one of the day. He won't be expecting a second birthday creation...and it's really just as much for other boys as him (they love cake). :wizard:

**Booking a dessert platter this time was NOT easy. It was actually quite frustrating. I called about five times before even getting to speak to a 'real person' and then it was someone who told me they couldn't do what I was asking for (even though I have had them do similar things in the past). None of my calls were returned when I went to voice mail. Finally, I spoke with someone who was able to take my order and I am hoping that the final result will be worth all of the hassle on the planning side. I realize that the GF private dining/bakery is very busy and that they have many other clients who deserve just as much attention as I do, so I think they really need to hire more help if they don't have the man power to give all of their potential customers return phone calls. Because the process was so frustrating, I gave up even trying to book a private dinner there for Goofy.

Having booked three custom dessert creations with the bakery (within the past 24 months) and having booked a private dinner and an afternoon luncheon both catered by the kitchens there (both within the last year) all without issue, I was surprised at the lack of customer service this time. I am hoping the issues I ran into are short term ones and that when I call to make plans, in the future, things will run as smoothly as they had in the past! :wizard: **

Following lunch, it will be time for a swim, a nap, some arcade time, relaxing in the lounge, building sand castles or watching a movie. Maybe a combination of a few of them. ;) Relaxation will be tops on our list.

We have a really fun twist in store for the evening. Last year, dh and I went to see the Blue Man Group and fell in love with their unique kind of fun! We instantly decided that we needed to bring the boys next year...and that is just what we are going to do! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: We have booked in room child care through the IPO for our little Buzz. As much as he is up for new adventures, I think the show might be a bit much for him. ;) So, while he is busy having fun with a new friend, the rest of us will be heading over to Universal Studios and stopping for dinner at Bubba Gump's before heading to the show. I am looking forward to seeing the boys' reactions to the show. I think they will all love it!:thumbsup2

After the show we will make our way back and hopefully spend the rest of the night laughing together over all of the fun we had! :cloud9:

What a fun-filled day. I too love room service. Sitting out on a balcony just watching and enjoying the moment. Hard to beat. I think it will be a very enjoyable day for everyone for sure. I love Blue Man Group. I think your boys will really like it too. They do some really cool stuff. I bet Buzz will do fine with his new friend.

You get better with each and every day. You are amazing. Loving this so much.

I'll be watching for more.

Love this day's adventures as much as all the rest. It's so nice how you build in time for relaxing and just spending time together. I keep wondering if I should alter my commando park plans and just have some down time together, but we do have two "water park" days (one at the beginning and one in the middle) that I hope will be relaxing.

Sorry GF has given you such a hard time this time. I hope they come through for you in the future. :)

Jay....everything sounds like so much fun. Goofy is just going to have a blast celebrating his birthday. Oh and when the rest of the family get there, oh me oh my, the fun will continue in a BIG way!!!! Blue Man group....1st haircut for Buzz....very cool. Oh but I will be eager to hear whether Buzz will ALLOW his new Mickey Ears to be placed on his head without bursting into tears. We all know how well that went over last year. Hahahaha. (Hopefully he has grown to love the mouse ears...hahahahahaha)

What a nice relaxing day you will have! And Blue Man Group is awesome, the boys will love it for sure. DH and I went here in Boston years ago, it was so funny, and the show is just great. Don't get splashed though!
I haven't decided exactly what to ask IPO to do for me. I'm thinking a beach towel, sand toys, and maybe a pin or a plush? Will they put them in the room and set it up like a surprise for me, or do I need to sneak away and do it myself? I'd better make up my mind, time is flying!:hourglass

Oh by the way, I am very excited to see what platter you come up with this time. The other ones were not to be believed!!:worship:

Just saw that December hours were released so I am going to spend the evening trying to see what parks are open when to plan my ADRs....so I can be ready for next Friday's 90 day mark!:woohoo:

GinnyLast year when dh and I saw the BMG, we both thought that seeing them on stage was like seeing into Goofy and Stitch's minds.:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: I know the boys will SO get them! :thumbsup2 I am really looking forward to seeing them again myself, I thought their show was great!

:) After having been forced to plan downtime into our trip (while I was pregnant with lil' Buzz) I now won't plan a trip without it. I had no idea what we were missing! ;)

I adore water park days as well. Disney has such great ones! Even if you can just 'force' yourself to carve out one afternoon or one evening, I bet you will enjoy it! Downtime at WDW is totally under rated!

I think it was just a comedy of errors sort of thing. I am nervous because I think the planning on the cake was done by the person taking the order instead of the chef (I usually just give them a theme and a budget and set the pastry chef loose) but supposedly I couldn't do it that way this time. I have my fingers crossed and also have faith that it will turn out amazing. A different way doesn't always make it a worse way. So, I am looking forward to seeing how it turns out! :thumbsup2

I have put him off this long by telling him that I wanted Buzz's first hair cut to be at WDW. I am guessing he will not let Buzz leave without a hair cut.:rolleyes1

All that keeps me busy in my day to day life just adds to my love for Disney. While I am at WDW I just let everything else go and concentrate on having fun and enjoying being with those I love. I am so excited! :woohoo:
