Not sure if I'm explaining this correctly.
I see that Disney Visa now has a Free Dining promo code through Dec. 17.
We have reserv. for Dec. 12-Dec. 19 by buying pts. from a DVC member. We have booked the DDP but do not pay for it until we arrive at AKL for check-in. By using our Disney Visa card can we call WDW and book the Free DDP on the promo code or are we stuck because we are booked through a DVC member.
Thanks for any info!
Michael

You are stuck. You have gotten a great deal renting points so don't feel like you are missing out. To get free dining you would have to book rack rate room through Disney.

Thanks! I thought so. You are right - I got an Awesome deal at AKL by buying pts. So, no, I don't feel like I'm "missing out". Just was curious if that promo was open to all Disney Visa card holders etc.
I appreciate the info.

We aren't taking advantage either because after running the numbers it didn't work out to be "free dining" for us. We are currently booked with a super "room-only" rate at the AKL right now. If we booked a package at rack rates to take advantage of the dining offer, it only was a $9 per person savings off the regular price for the dining plan.

I really don't understand the "free" part of the offer...I guess it depends more on what type of resort you are staying in. :confused3 I know that for some people it works out to be a huge savings.

Yeah, I've crunched the numbers and by buying pts. we're saving a huge amount even w/ paying for DDP over full rack!

The value of free dining is obviously greater percentage wise if you're staying at a value resort. For DH & I in Sept. as a party of 2 adults, we're basically saving $80/day on the dining regardless of the resort choice. We could book at the Poly for about $450/night (price obtained by removing the cost of the tickets from the package). Alternately, we chose to book at Pop for $93/night using same calculation. For both alternatives, we've saving $80/day with free dining. But it's a 46% savings on the rack rate including dining at Pop compared to only a 15% savings o the rack rate including dining at Pop. Another discount rate could easily be better than free dining at a Deluxe, I'd think!
