Hey! I finally just called and asked. She said as a matter of fact, yes there is an offer...

Free Quick Service Dining for Values and Regular Dining for Mods/Deluxe.

I got Reg dining and upgraded from POP to CBR for the same price as our ressie POP!

Good Luck in getting what you'd like everyone!!!

See you there!!:yay:

MCK5880-The CM I spoke with did not ask for a code. I asked if there was an offer for Disney Visa holders, as I had heard rumors there might be one released today. She said as a matter of fact yes. Try calling back and get a different CM...

Last year, there was a small room discount attached with FD for Visa holders. Is there not this year?

We had a FD PIN, but I wanted to make sure I'm not missing out on a room discout by not calling with the Visa info!

Thanks!

Did not appear to have one. She didn't mention it..she just said free dining.

The prices she quoted me for WL definately did not seem to be at a discount, so I declined and took a room at CBR.

Does anyone know the "code"??
I tried calling twice, and the first time I was told that they, as agents, do not have access to any of the information on special offers & to check Disneyworld.com
The second time I was told to check my latest invoice, as there would be details enclosed about any "offers" they have going.

I would just keep calling. I have been through four or five CM's before finding one that could help in the past.

There does not seem to be a room discount on the deal.

I just called and asked for the DV Free Dining deal and she seemed to know what I was talking about.
I specifically asked for the code (for you guys who were asking!) and she didn't know, just said to ask for the Disney Rewards Visa deal. :confused3

On another thread the code was mentioned....I think the value code was EVN

Sadly our little tiny limit Disney Visa is maxed until they credit back my cancelled Sept/Oct trip....so while I would LOVE to make it, it's not going to happen. I asked about saving the trip and us paying on Monday but she said that it can't be done. I guess I'll pray that some rooms are still available on Monday when the public code comes out.

Do you all think that the public code will be the same as the Visa FD with the same dates or do you think that the public code will be the same as the AP room discount that came out a few days ago that extends to the 24th??

woohoo just saved $713.72. the first cm I got gave me the discount, but she was definetly not in a good mood. when I said that I was calling to add the DV free dining code to my ressie I heard her say (under her breath) aye aye aye.. whatever. as long as she gave it to me. :goodvibes

Great Day! There was an email in my inbox at work today from my travel agent advising she was able to apply the Free Dining discount to our ressie at the WL for 11/14-11/21! We were hoping for room discounts but I will take this! Now the dread ADR's.....OY, the choices, the times.....hope everyone else got the ressies they wanted!

I called twice this morning. First CM told me it wasn't coming out till tomorrow for DV. He said "hold on" and came back and said he could apply it. So, I got a reduction on our 10/24 to 11/3 trip. It's only going to be about $300 less than the big kids for little kids price code I got back in May, but $300 is $300 I can put toward another halloween party:cool1:

THe second CM didn't seem in a very good mood either. I wanted to see if I could upgrade from WL to Poly. It was another $1,200+ so I stuck with the WL.

That's so odd. I've never had a problem reserving a package (even with FD), and putting down the deposit later. Usually they give you at least a week, don't they? I've done it that way the past two years. Unless you know that they treat people booking with the Visa offer differently, I think it may be worth a call back to talk to a different CM.

Yeah! I opted to stay with my original ressie at Pop Century and got the quick service for free!!! I am so excited.:cool1:

The CM I spoke with was more than pleasant and had no problem pricing out some of the other resorts. I didn't need a code and just had to ask for Disney free dining. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again!

I wouldn't wait to call too much later. The first CM I talked to said they were already booking up pretty fast for the allotment of rooms they had with this offer. I wouldn't want to see you miss out on your current reservation and trying to add and then having them full. Good luck!! Although, I'm not sure when you are going so you may be just fine!

I said, "but Buzz some people on line this morning said they got to upgrade". He said hold on, he asked a supervisor and said Yes, you can upgrade. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Saved me $550 this morning and it is over the Thanksgiving holiday. I love Buzz!

Well my CM was a little less than honest to begin with....because she said it was a 400.00 deposit and I told her it was a 200.00 deposit per ressie and our family (while a large one) was indeed only one ressie. She said, well I've made it two and you're guaranteed connecting rooms.....ummm, no, we need 1 ressie and the guaranteed connecting doesn't always work (we were given 2 different rooms in separate buildings 2 years ago and had to pray they could find 2 connectings for us so we wouldn't spent our vacation apart).
I'm wondering now if they get paid some sort of bonus based on how many deposits or reservations they make hence the splitting of ours?

Anyhow, she kind of got irritated and said well I'll have to change it and went through all this again, then said 200.00 deposit. I told her I'd have to call back with it, since I knew our little limit was maxed and I was waiting on Disney's refund....she said it had to be at the time the reservation was made, and you weren't given the 7 days grace.

Kind of irritated me about the whole seperate reservations first off and now I'm just sick that we weren't able to make the December reservation. Oh and I told her off the bat before she even started booking that I'd have to call with the deposit later on the card, probably Monday since I was waiting on their refund....she obviously didn't listen as I said it 3 times during our conversation and she just kept on with the booking....so while I do feel bad for wasting her time (and mine) I did give her the information before we went through all of this.

Yikes, that's scary. I guess they set aside so many for Visa holders and then when the public code comes out they have some set aside too. Guess I'll start calling early on Monday if the public code comes out so I can grab a couple of rooms for our family.

I wouldn't bet the farm that there is going to be a public code, even though the CM I spoke with Wednesday (when the AP rates were released) hinted that there might be. Last year, they did this for the first time during this period (with a room discount in addition) for Visa holders only, they never released it the GP. They are not even blocking out Thanksgiving for this offer, which surprises me.

Call back. My neighbor was given a WEEK to make her deposit. They held her reservation until then.

Although I do not have the Disney Visa and am hoping fo r a general code could someone share the dates it covers we will be there November 28-December 6th are these dates covered? Also I booked with AAA with a discount would we get the room discount plus the free dining if it becomes available? Thanks for the good news and help!:goodvibes

can someone please explain the "upgrade" that many are referring to?

is this QS dining to reg. dining upgrade only?

I am especially curious about what several people are talking about moving from Value to Mod. for less $$ ? How is that working?

Thanks in advance!:flower3:

We had the Big Kids at Little Kids prices, but changed to the Free Dining and saved an additional $140.

We are staying at a Value and just paid the difference between quick service and regular dining.

I was told a general code would be released in a few days.

If you book a value, you get free quick service dining. You can upgrade to regular dining using a different code and just pay the difference.

If you are staying at a mod or deluxe, you get free regular dining, and you can upgrade to the deluxe dining plan.

I think it depends on how many people you are traveling with, but if someone had booked a rack rate value and paid for dining, free dining is probably a better deal even at a mod.

Just applied FD to our ressie and saved over $600 more than my current code:woohoo:!! I am so excited. I was really hoping for FD because my DS is 11 and pays adult price. I also was able to switch to CSR for the queen beds. We were booked at CBR where we stayed last time. We love that resort but DH wanted to try CSR for the bigger beds and work out facility.

The only week it was offered last year in December was the 14 - 20, but as long as you booked the beginning of your trip by the 20th, then it was good through the 31st.

The will most likely come out with a discount code, it was 40% last year, but I highly doubt it will be this FD offer.

Originally, last year the offered a 40% off general public code, and then the Disney Free Dining offer came out, so we switched.

The 40% off code saved us $637.00, which is awesome, but the FD code saved us about $1,600.00.

Thanks for the info!
I just applied for the visa card and got instantly approved, though no card number. I called Chase, I was told they could not give me any card number until the card arrived by mail.
I heard people in this forum were able to book with disney the moment they got approved the visa card... how do I do that without a card number? Thanks.

I don't know about that because when I called this morning, she verified my card number...and do you have to put the deposit on the DisneyVisa or is that just to get the 0% APR?

Can't hurt to try!

I think, if I remember corrrectly from last year, that people were applying on the Disney web-site and I think there was an option to use the card right then. I know I have done this on amazon.

As one of those that is a faithful Disney lover and visitor that has not been lucky enough to get an e-mail or anything and who does not use credit cards, I CERTAINLY hope this goes public. I have a reservation booked anyway and will book my dining either way. It would just be nice to get some of the same priviledges that many others are getting. So, by my getting a public offer that may give me a discount, doesn't make it any more easy or difficult for your adr's. I am getting up first thing on my 90 mark and making my ressies. If everyone does that, they are increasing their chances of getting what they want. So, I hope for myself and for others that something good does come along, as it will be great for all who can use it and not just a select few. As for the adr's, get up and get on the phone as soon as you can...you snooze, you lose!

Ok, so here's my (probably odd) question on this. We've got a AAA room only reservation for 11/30-12/7 at the Contemporary. The AAA rate saved us ~$460 over rack rate. If I would apply this Disney Visa discount instead, we'd basically be getting a ~$560 option for free. So it looks like the better deal would be applying the Disney Visa dining discount and doing away with the AAA discount. However (and here's where the odd question comes in), we much prefer doing quick service meals because it gives us the flexibility to eat when and where we feel like it, not when our ADR's come due. (Plus, we just eat way too darn much at the TS restaurants.) So because we are staying at a deluxe resort, we'd get the basic dining plan for free. Do you think they would allow me to take the QS dining plan instead? We'd actually save less money (the QS dining plan usually runs ~$420, so it would actually be $40 more to get that instead of sticking with our AAA rate); but the convenience of not worrying about how much we are spending on food would be worth that $40 to me. (I swear there is a question in that rambling paragraph somewhere!)

Just because you have the option of a TS meal, you don't have to use it as that. We do the Deluxe which are all TS meals, yet eat many CS meals. But I could see where the QS would be better if you aren't planning any TS meals as you would get two snacks and a mug, instead of just one snack.
It couldn't hurt to ask, and please post and let us know what they said. :thumbsup2

Well, no luck for me.
Have 5 nights at Pop, AP rate with deluxe dining for $1187.

With the free dining, and having to add on one-day base tixs, comes to $1335. So ends up being $148 more. It actually saves me $134, but that is lost when I add the tickets, and ends up costing me $148 more. It's adding on the tickets that does it for me.

We have an August trip planned and was planning on upgrading the kids' tickets to APs to use again in November and then in the spring. If the free dining deal were as it was last year with regular dining for free AND a nice discount off the room on top of that, was worth it for me to not up the kids in August to APs and just get them new tix in November... which was hoping for, as don't want to cough up the money in August for APs. But guessing that seems like the best way to go now.

Shame the deal isn't as good as last year - and that added discount off the room with the deal really sweetened it!

Just got off the phone with a cm...he could not book the QS plan for a Deluxe resort. Only TS Dining Plan.

WI Dis Fan...we're in a similar boat as you. We have two young children who won't sit still for too many table service, so we had intended to book the QS Dining Plan. We also have a AAA discount on our Poly reservation. Isn't the math interesting (two adults, 4yo DS and 2 yo DD):

With Free Dining Deal (Total-5264.39):
Rack rate Concierge Room at Poly--4410
Tix through Disney--854.39

With AAA Discount (Total-5257):
Concierge Room at Poly--3969
Tix (with Undercover Tourist)--~805
QS Dining Plan (for 2 ad, 1 child)--483

So it's cheaper with the AAA discount...isn't this crazy!?! Anyone else who intended to use quick service dining running into similar math???

I think I failed to take into account that if we're going to book QS Dining Plan, I have to order our tix through Disney (as opposed to with Undercover Tourist). So, it's probably a wash...

Hi,
I am so excited I had heard that they had sent out some pin codes for free dining. I was disappointed I had not gotten one.

Unfortunately you lose the AAA discount if you booked through Disney with room only for the discount. The CM I spoke to said I could check with AAA but he didn't know if they were offering the free dining.
It still saved us like $350 so it was worth it for the free dining! :thumbsup2
I am so excited!!!!:banana::banana::banana::banana:

While I am happy for everyone that is now able to go - I am selfishly upset that ADR's will now be a pain in the rear like all the Summer FD reports are stating.

I do wonder if a General FD code will cause people to cancel Aug and go in Dec instead?

The free dining or the AP room discount offer? I really hope it is the room discount offer as I am not arriving until the 18th and the free dining cuts off the 17th!!

Well said. I am going either way but I choose not to have credit cards. So I really hope they put out a deal for us as well! :goodvibes

If you're going back, you'll get the value out of the 1 day passes either by using them or applying the full value towards whatever ticket type you end up deciding on.

Well, I am happy for everyone else who gets this, but I don't understand why they don't open up the AP discount to the general public...Don't they normally open these discounts up to the public once they have offered them to AP holders and Florida residents??? Maybe I am mistaken on that....

I'm hoping there is some truth to the rumors that FD will be offered to the GP come Sun...we have a trip booked for Nov 24 - Dec 1 and I'm sure it would save us a bunch - there are 5 of us going in my family and we're gonna stay at the YC...just a quick question...I noticed that it was for the QS plan, but I read that if you were staying at a Deluxe then it was the upgrade to the basic DP?? Is that correct? TIA

I totally agree. I was able to use the free dining but I still have another pkg on hold at a cheaper rate. I was hoping (praying) that Visa cardholders (or hopefully General Public) would be offered the same discount as the AP holders. I keep wondering if the general public is going to be offered the discounted room rate instead of free dining? If that's the case, I'm switching once the general public rate comes out.

Yes, we're staying at a deluxe and we got the regular free dining (not quick service) I think quick service is just at the Values but regular dining is for mod and deluxe.

Call back. My neighbor was given a WEEK to make her deposit. They held her reservation until then.

I pray it doesn't book up. Sadly we cancelled our Sept/Oct trip because of a major medical issue that came up in our family....we told the kids that we'd go in December if a code came out and I was just really really waiting and praying for a code so we could surprise them.

The dates are 9/29 - 11/24/2009 and 11/29 - 12/17/2009, so I think you are out of luck.

It's QS for Value resorts (but you can upgrade), or regular dining plan for other resorts.

You get free dining for the whole stay as long as you check in by the last day listed on the code (which is 11/24). If the GP code has the same dates, you should be able to get free dining for your trip.

ETA: Yes, you would get the basic dining plan free.

For our stay at AKL 11/28/09-12/6/09 we're paying $934.00 with passholder rate. We always make at least 1 ADR per night and buy tons of stuff. We charge everything to our room key to get an exact amount of how much we spend per trip which never exceeds $500.00 to $600.00 depending on how many character meals we do. That should put me at less than $1600.00 and since we're AP holders no need for tix.

If we go with the dining option we will end up paying $3162.00 so it appears that this code is definetly not for us. ADR's are now going to be a MAJOR :headache: and the parks will be packed during our beloved 2nd week of December (moved up to first week now) when attendance is usually not too bad. I would rather deal with POP Warner crowds than free dining crowds.:snooty:

I had gotten a pin code for free dining for these dates, and was really psyched about it. Now, worried about ADRs, and crowds in December, that I wasn't worried about before. But then, thinking about it....if the deals keep coming, in this economy, are people really pouncing on them, and will crowds be worse than they have been in the past? I mean the 4/3 deal was fantastic, I would think the people that could have gone that may not have otherwise, would have snapped that one up. When Free Dining came out for the fall, that took another segment of the population that would book it. Soon the pool will be down to us die hards that will go anyway, and we aren't nearly the masses! Ok, so this is what I keep telling myself!

We've been for the past 4 years on FD in September/October and that was before the economy got hit.....it's never been so crowded that it's madness. I think Disney is such a large place that you just don't realize the crowds as much, unless of course you didn't make your ADR's beforehand.

Why would it be such a shock?? Do you know something we don't?? I know they have never done FD for GP in the past at this time, but at this point I think they are doing whatever they can to fill rooms. The recent upgrades from values to DVC properties tell me that they are desperate to sell rooms, and will use whatever they can to do it. I don't think that Disney would put that kind of information in an email sent out to thousands of Visa cardholdres if it wasn't true:confused3

I have a great room rate at POP for 11/23-28 with my AAA rate, but I called Disney yesterday to see how much it would cost me to change my ressie to get the free dining with the VISA. By the time we added on a one-day base ticket for three people (since we already have a no-expiry with four days left on it), and paid the package rate for the room, plus upgraded to the regular DDP, free dining was going to cost me $500. Even if we stayed with QS dining, our cost would go up $300. So I guess this time, I'll just let the offer go and stick with what I have. I don't think we will eat $500 worth of food this trip.

Last year, they didn't. Neither the Disney Visa FD during Nov-Dec 2008 nor the AP rates in Dec 2008-Feb 2009 were open to the general public. Rather, they started the Buy 4 Get 3 Free promotion.

This year, it's anyone's bet what they'll do.

I had gotten a pin code for free dining for these dates, and was really psyched about it. Now, worried about ADRs, and crowds in December, that I wasn't worried about before. Those are my thoughts - the only reason that Disney is offering these deals is that they are not getting the bookings they normally get. My belief is that, they are hoping these deals will result in crowds similar to the normal, non-discounted crowds they used to get; at best, maybe crowds will increase by 10% or so. Disney doesn't give out good discounts just for the hell of it.

Good luck to all who are still waiting.

There have been many years that there were room discounts offered after the AP discounts came out, but they were less of a discount. That's why it's a perk for the AP holders. You will generally see Disney open the same off they make to Disney Visa card holders to the GP about 4 or 5 days after the Visa people get it. And it is usually the same discount. But more often than not, the GP hasn't gotten the exact same discounts that the AP holders get.

Did I miss something? I am a Disney Visa Card holder and I didn't see any information from Disney or Chase Visa saying that this offer would open for the general public.

And I guess the reason I would be shocked that it would go public is because they had no trouble filling the parks last December with the Disney Visa Free Dining code and I don't think they would this year either. The parks were way more crowded last December than we expected and there was no general public fd offer.

The difference between Dec. 2008 and Dec. 2009 is that many people in Dec. 2008 had booked, planned, and maybe even paid for their vacations well before the economy collapsed in July & August. Many folks were saying, "We can't disappoint the kids, so we'll go anyway."

That's no longer true for those booking for Dec. 2009. If I were a betting girl, I'd wager that bookings were way down from last year - that's why the AP rates are so low, without blackout dates.

Given the state of the economy, I wouldn't be shocked either way (if they offered it or if they didn't).

We applied this discount to our current reservation - which was 8 nights at CBR over Thanksgiving with the 40% AP room discount, and QSDP. Even with having to pay for one day tickets for the 4 of us, we still saved $200. Since only two of us had AP's, we would have still had to buy tickets for the other two, so with this added in, the savings went up to $350- and we still have two 1 day tickets to use in the future. We really like the QSDP and didn't want the regular DP, but I couldn't pass up the $350 savings. Even with tips added in, we will still save money with this code, and we are looking forward to eating at places we normally wouldn't pay for.

Hi,
Were you ever able to get your reservation? I was thinking if you went through a TA like Dreams Unlimited. I filled out a quote last week and when each one was returned there was a 7 day hold. There is a spot on the reservation form to let them know you are eligable for a Disney Visa discount. It was easy and I booked my trip last Monday. Oct 18-24 at CBR luckily had all my ADR's before Free Dinning came out. Thought this might get you in one day faster.

Yes....thankfully when I checked our account this morning the refund from Disney was there and so I quickly called and got the resort, dates and tix that I wanted....I was so excited. The kids are all excited too :) We had to cancel our Sept/Oct trip due to some medical issues that came up that we need to take care of first, but I told them I would keep an eye out for discounts or FD and we'd go again....so I'm glad Disney didn't let us down
